    I’ve purchased 5 of the sturdy safes so far. I got a small one 32x24x60 first and ran out of room fast. Then I got the 36x27x72 and it is very nice, next I got both my kids a 32x24x60 and they love them! I purchased a second home and just received my 36x27x72 here. My friends have several of these safes after they saw mine. I can’t say enough about how well these safes are made and the people at sturdy are amazing to work with. Of your looking for a great safe at a very reasonable price look no further than Sturdy Safe!!!

    i bought one 6 years ago. i chose the fire-lined 36-27-60 model with more steel and option 3 interior. i’m more of a pistol person so i made a 5 soft close drawers unit for the handguns. each drawer can hold 4 full size pistols. on the bottom, i layered it with cut out fence pickets. i also placed a bunch of super strong magnets on the door interior to organize the magazines. i love the safe!

      Glad I could help. My only advice is to get it EXACTLY how you want it. I regret not having them reinforce the bottom. While the standard 4g steel is plenty sufficient for bolting it down, it’s not uniform to the rest of the safe and that bugs me. It’s not exactly something that’s easy to exchange either hahah

    Nice looking safe. I have their most basic "slim Jim" model and I love it too.

    Very good review, thanks for sharing this video.
    Very well built safe.
    My husband and I are looking to purchase another safe for legal documents and a few firearms.
    You were wise to have the steel plate go to the bottom. Security shortcuts always have regrets.😁👌

      You will not regret getting a Sturdy Safe at all. It is very well built and the company was a pleasure to work with. I’m very happy that I had them run steel all the way to the bottom on the sides and back but I do regret not having them reinforce the bottom. I just went with the standard 4g bottom; while that’s more than sufficient for bolting down, it bugs me that’s it’s not uniform to the rest of the safe! Just me being me lol

      Thanks for the information. My thinking on them running the steel plate all the way to the bottom was, based on an attacker looking for a weak spot.
      My husband was looking at a Graffinder safe for approximately $8,000.
      He appreciates your excellent video and will also be contacting Sturdy Safe for a price quote.
      We both thank you for you time and great video. Have a great evening 😁

      Buy a cheap fireproof box at Costco or the fireproof envelopes in Office Max, I got one (cooler bag) that adds 90 minutes and put it inside the safe. No need to pay thousands to fireproof a huge "closet" for papers items that occupy 1/5 of the space inside. I like what he did, those steel logs and shelving add a lot, huge difference to the door augmenting the strength and making it impossible to bend it. I have my cash and papers inside those envelopes, by the time heat get inside (long time because thick metal diffuses heat) the fire department is already spraying your house. Besides, fire won't start in your safe, and if in the basement (heat rises) it will reach your safe perhaps 15 or 20 minutes after the kitchen or furnace area started, and then when is more than 350 degrees inside the safe (2 hours later) the envelopes are protecting your papers. Safes in living rooms and upstairs are much more vulnerable to get hot almost as soon as the house fire starts. Basement, laundry are, best place, and find a copper water line above and add a sprinkler on top of it. I did it and is super easy, cut the pipe, put the $25 sprinkler and done!. You surely even have a drain on the floor just in case already.

    Another thing that works well for bolting down is some C-channel, works kinda like an I-beam so is really strong and easily available at Home Depot..

    Thanks for the review/video. I was put off by these safes initially because there's no bolts on the top, but these things look solid. I think I'm going to go with one. Also, they're not "rated", but look as solid as any TL rated safe.

    • @laceyzq0016
      @laceyzq0016  2 года назад +1

      Sure thing! Don’t shy away because the lack of bolts on top. These things are absolute tanks. The “most popular package” is probably more than enough for most applications but I wanted the thicker steel. Terry, the owner, put out a good video explaining why it’s not UL rated; what it boils down to is cost. He said it’s quite expensive, thus driving up the cost even more. I’m not sure what your location is but this one is actually up for sale. I ran out of space!

    • @asuarezjd
      @asuarezjd 2 года назад +1

      Don't worry about not seeing bolts on the top. Remember, the others may have them but they are screwed to a 14gauge steel flange with a itty bitty 1/4" screw and to a flange that will bend with a 6" screwdriver, no need for crowbar. I want one of these because I, having a pick up truck, helped my neighbor pick up and install one. I was impressed! Not only the steel plate is heavy and no way it will bend, but is irrelevant because there is no way anything thick enough to apply pressure can fit through the opening. And, I am convinced that if you get a 4ft crowbar in there you can hang on it and it will not be enough to bend it. Plus, the steel log you see across the top is super welded to the door plate, so it is like a joist that will add strength to the door plate making it impossible to curve it. As far as fireproof, who cares? the metal is thick so it delays any heat forming inside and my neighbor bought a cheap ass document box in Office Max and is inside the safe, and he also got this 90 minute rated "envelope" for cash, so all papers are fireproof inside. By the time the fire makes it inside the safe it will hit the fireproof envelopes. His is in the basement, in the laundry room, with a White Westinghouse washer cover so there are a lot of copper water pipes in top and he was going to install ONE sprinkler above it. Besides, heat rises, so the basement, far from the furnace will likely take a while to get some heat. In other words, even if the house has been burning for half an hour, the safe may have been heating for only 10 minutes by then.
      This company builds them for the no BS, real deal, purpose of the darn box kind of attitude, not the pretty colors and strawberry pancake appearance to make it easier to convince a wife they need one. If I want to show a pretty thing in my living room I buy an oil painting on canvas with a badass frame. I am getting one, is just that I am going big and need a few more months to order it like I want it, my last safe, they can bury me in it when I kick the bucket.

      Thanks a lot! They are just basic puck style lights that I got at Lowe’s. If I could do it over again I would get some motion activated that plug into the wall. I put it to close to the wall so I can’t get anything
      through the factory drilled hole. I’m not unbolting that safe and moving it though!

  • @victorramosjr2239

    It would be cool if the company did a video simulating a fire outside of their safes with some fake papers and fake firearms to show how they would hold up to the heat. Or maybe they already did and I just haven't seen them. I'm considering one under recommendation of a coworker who has one. Great video. Thanks.

    Nice video! What made you choose no fireproofing versus a model with fireproofing?

    • @asuarezjd
      @asuarezjd 2 года назад

      Not sure about his reasons but I can tell you is best the way he has it. The purpose is to safeguard assets and is best to just beef it up with steel, weight and hardiness, and the welding of those steel logs framing the door is a beast of a feature to harden and prevent any bending to the already thick door plate. Yet, what you do is go to Office Max and buy the cheap fireproof envelopes for cash and for documents and you drop them in the safe. Some are good for 90 minutes. Besides, the fire department will be hosing down you home in less than 30 minutes, and when a safe is in the basement, heat rises, and fire will not get to it right away, especially if in the laundry room far from the furnace. So, when the fire department is at your address it may have not even started to heat it up, plus the thick metal dissipates and takes longer to heat up the interior, then it hits the fireproof envelopes (or even a cheap Costco fireproof box) inside of it. Gold and silver are not affected by fire anyway and most gun companies will send you the new stocks, but they can also be claimed in the home insurance. So, just papers and cash and you can contain by pinpointing those tackling the small space they occupy instead of paying thousands to add some protection to a huge closet for items that use 1/5 of the space inside.

    Does this have any sort of security rating? I'm trying to avoid anything with a RSC rating and hoping these are closer to a TL rating.

    • @laceyzq0016
      @laceyzq0016  3 года назад +4

      It does not. Terry, the owner, has stated he doesn’t get the ratings because they are very expensive and he wants to keep the cost down as much as possible. Terry has also posted several “torture” tests of his safes and the results are quite incredible. He has done a lot to his safes and he’s not afraid to record it for the public. He believes in his product 100% and I found
      his safes closely mimic TL safes in design.
