  • This is a quick review of my recently purchased Sturdy Safe model 3627 gun safe. This one has the "Most popular package" and fire lining.
    I have never uploaded a RUclips video before, so I apologize for the terrible camera work. I know it's really bad, and I will re-shoot this soon to hopefully improve the footage.
    Please let me know if you have any questions.

    I was just about to pull the trigger on a Sturdy safe until I found the American Security BF2. Sturdy's prices are no longer the super good deal they use to be, they have went up quite a bit from a few years back now that they have a solid name. The reason I went with the BF2 vs Sturdy was aesthetics, security, and fire protection. The BF2 has an 11 gauge outer shell, 2 inches of drylite fire protection and then a 5/16" solid steel inner liner. The door is 1/2" solid steel and has the same bolt work they use on their TL15/30 safes. The BF2 was just a little more than the Sturdy however the interior was far superior with lighting, door organizer, mirrored back wall, etc... It's also the only safe on the market that I know of that has an UL RSC2 rating. Anyway, Sturdy does make a solid safe, great purchase!

      Congrats on your safe. Amsec definitely makes an excellent product as well.

    Great vid thanks. With regard to the gap on the top left, I've noticed that its on top of carpet which may not be level. there's another review on YT were he mentions a similar problem. It was resolved by tightening down the hold down bolts in a particular sequence in order to square up the door against the frame. This is the video ruclips.net/video/3tjQ-eNIAFA/видео.html. Fast forward to 8:00 minutes to hear the part where he talks about the door alignment.

    For your first up loading to RUclips you did pretty good. The safe looks really great and pointing out the features was on point. Being on a serious budget just like everyone else nowadays did you also get the extra warranty package or did you opt out ? Thanks for the great review.

      Thanks, Abe. I appreciate the compliment. I did purchase the extra warranty. Sorry I forgot to mention that in the review. I thought it was a pretty good deal and it gives me some extra peace of mind. Thanks again.

    How many long guns could you realistically fit in there with how yours is configured?

    • @5js78
      @5js78  4 года назад

      With my current configuration, you could probably get 15 long guns in there comfortably. I only have 4 in there right now, so that's just a guess.
      One of mine is a giant old Hiawatha 12 gauge that I have to lean at a weird angle, so it's taking up a little extra space. You can also remove the two smaller shelves on the right side to uncover those rifle racks and gain a little extra room.
      Hope this helps.

    How hard was it to move it to where you wanted it? Did you need a special hand truck?

    • @5js78
      @5js78  3 года назад

      It was pretty difficult to push around. I was able to slide it by hand most of the way, but I used my lawn tractor to push it the last few inches. If you don't have people to help, a hand truck or something like that would be ideal.

    Does this have a security rating? I'm trying to avoid any RSC safes because they're really not that secure. I'm looking for something closer to a TL15.

    • @5js78
      @5js78  3 года назад

      I don't think Sturdy does the ratings, but I could be wrong. Their safes are not RSC safes though. Mine weighs 1,100 pounds. They have safes closer to 2,000 as well. You can't find anything as well-built for the same cost. Am Sec and Graffunder make even better ones though, if you have that kind of budget.

    How was it getting it off the pallet and into place? Good review 👍🏻

    • @5js78
      @5js78  4 года назад +1

      Thanks! Getting it off of the pallet was kind of difficult, but my wife and I followed the instructions on Sturdy Safe's video - we put broomsticks under it and rolled it off. Sliding it into position was tougher, but if you have a buddy or two help you, it should be pretty simple.

      5 J's awesome thanks for the info. I’m thinking of renting a large appliance dolly that can climb a step when I get mine, once it’s off the pallet of course. We will see!

    Suprised to see bolts ONLY on the sides of the door. None on top or bottom.

    • @5js78

      The design is based on the closure mechanism of a tl30 safe. Sturdy has a video explaining the concept on their channel.

      It's not about where the bolts are, it's what they are attached to and how rigid the bolt is. The largest commercial safes in the world are secured by 4 dead bolts. The "20,000 flashy chrome live locking bolts" is a sales gimmick. All the bolts in the world mean nothing when they are attached to a thing piece of metal secured w a 1/4" bolt. Sturdy's are solid, ask anyone who owns one.
