    I have so much appreciation for this game being one of the few games out there to actually follow the war on terror. All other shooters set in a modern setting are made up conflicts. I also think it’s sick how it’s focused on the operations that immediately followed 9/11 in late 2001 and early 2002. Wish more game companies had the balls to tackle these subjects.

      To your point, this game is based on/heavily influenced by Operation Anaconda mission details. Read the Books "Not a Good Day to Die" and "Roberts Ridge" that cover that battle. This is probably my favorite "Modern Warfare" style game because of that attachment to the real world. And having spent a year in Afghanistan (2011-2012), I can say the feel is there.

    • @Art_Vandalay97
      @Art_Vandalay97 5 месяцев назад +3

      @@tsilmanav I heard the last few missions were based on the Medal of Honor recipient John Chapman too. I have alone at dawn in my reading queue and I’ll definitely add your suggestions to the list! I think the early years of the war in Afghanistan are really interesting and not really talked about enough in media.

    • @tsilmanav
      @tsilmanav 5 месяцев назад +2

      @@Art_Vandalay97 I wrote a 20+ page thesis on Operation Anaconda in college after having the year long deployment there under my belt, and I wrote a 5 page lessons learned whitepaper that I'll never see again on the ISAF newtork in 2011. Those two books from the mountain of things I have read on the operation are the best summarized published accounts in the public spaces. There are declassified after action and thinktank documents but they are all very weighted by political/higher level military bias. So the books are a little better at objective pictures from the people in the fight.
      The game does a good job of showing some major individual fights from the actual mission, but also adding things to make it a more enjoyable game.

    • @Art_Vandalay97
      @Art_Vandalay97 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@tsilmanav that’s awesome I’m very excited to read them. What branch were you in? And yeah I have to imagine the little things like the beyond danger close fire missions on some of the levels where you play as the 10th mountain division weren’t 100% accurate to the actual fights because some of them happen like 50 meters away from your squad so that stuff is a bit video gamed up lol

    Even the Call of Duty franchise never made the Taliban or Al Qaeda the actual enemy. Only Medal Of Honor was brave enough to do that. That says a lot. I like how the Medal Of Honor franchise stuck to historical authenticity as much as possible. It is the core tenets of the series. They never made useless unrealistic skins, no future warfare, no Nicky Minaj or Snoop Dog skins. Just pure military authenticity. In today's gaming landscape, you just have to respect that.

    I got this game the day it came out. The hype for this game was overshadowed by BF3s launch cycle but they did a good job pumping it up. The campaign and multiplayer were distinct experiences being split developed by D/C and DICE... and using two different engines. Campaign is second to none in tone and immersion for an arcade shooter. UNREAL 3 or 4 looked amazing on release and the campaign showed so much potential. Fun tid bit i loved was the Mk14 was select fire and there were 3 or 4 different models for the Ak. Try picking a few up. The online experience was solid. The rush style mode was probably the most fun, score streaks were not OP. The graphics were pretty much a port over from BC2 vietnam and reskinned. I last played it online in 2018 stoll was solid. You can see the development from MoH to BF3 in the early pre beta videos of BF3. Was pretty sad when EA shut down the MoH series in general.

    2010 I was in Afghanistan with the Army. Came back at the end of 2010 and enjoyed the game. The game was fairly accurate for the time.

    The last mission is based on the 1st Medal of Honor recipient to be recorded. His name was John Chapman and you can see the footage here on RUclips. Simple History also covered it

    This and Warfighter had some of the best multiplayer. Its just a shame that it was so short lived.

    So funny, I remember as a kid thinking MOH’s (2010) graphics was “too realistic” and “amazing”.

    I loved the select fire option on the rifles. Being able to swap to semiautomatic and be more precise with shots made the campaign awesome. I grew up playing Rising Sun so when I found these games randomly I had to have them.

    2010's MOH and specially 2012's MOHWF taught me that there's hella tons of AK's. also love the gun design and gun feedback

      Yes. Someone had made Dusty from MOH in Ghost Recon. We didn't know that at the time and saw a high quality render so we used it.

      If I remember correctly, the multiplayer and single player were made by different teams.
      I think they mainly used MOH as a testing ground for BF3 multiplayer

    I loved this game so much. You could tell that a lot of time and effort went into researching it when you played it. The different countries that had their specops represented in multiplayer was SO cool.

    This and Warfighter have the best campaigns of any modern FPS set in modern times. Both had me choked up in their endings. No other campaigns have touched my soul like that.
