Great Job, well done! My 2nd custom i turned "light fusion 1's" into "Fuchicago 1's" lol Couple tips: You can use something as a pry tool (long thin and flat) to lift the seems, like with the swoosh to make detail work a lil easier. 6:22 As far as cleaning the white when you paint on it accidentally, don't use anything like alcohol or acetone because it will remove the clear coat and when you see it in the right lighting you can tell its the only spot without clear coat. Just use a cotton swab with water as soon as it happens, it should still work tho even if it dried as long as you didn't clear coat it. Also the cotton swab is too thick sometimes and if you're not carefoul you can remove some paint from somewhere you didn't too, so it's best to take like half the cotton off the tip of the swab and twist it so you can be more precise with it. Thanks for the inspiration man, keep grindin! This "Chicago" custom will definitely be next which will make it my 4th, wish me luck!
"Also the cotton swab is too thick sometimes and if you're not carefoul you can remove some paint from somewhere you didn't too, so it's best to take like half the cotton off the tip of the swab and twist it so you can be more precise with it." I’ve had this vid on my watch later for a loooong time. I finally had the opportunity to do his and the vid helped a lot. Hope to keep doing customizations like this for the future to save some cash, and also it’s just sick to know you did a project on your own
The corners of that Nike Swoosh can be tough… I also did it before with one of my AJ 1 mids and had to use thin brush and had alcohol and acetone always available. Great job man!
I thought of doing this when these first dropped; and after seeing disappointing pics of the “reimagined” Chicago 1’s, I’m more motivated to do this custom. I can imagine getting the Chenille pair and dying the chenille Swoosh black. Either way I’m low key tired of the pre-aged/worn look; imo it’s getting played out.
@@darkozosel9114 It’s cool when it’s a custom or restored pair that still keeps a mildly aged midsole, anything else is just too much. Doesn’t make sense to pay $200+ for shoes that look beat when used beater pairs can be bought for way less. But I do agree shape wise how it looks good; maybe if it was released as a pack, one clean pair and one aged pair. Jordan Brand should go back to releasing shoe packs
Beautiful job! As someone who can never win anything on SNKRS, thanks for this tutorial haha. Wondering if you got any paint cracking (primarily on the toe box) on these since you’ve made this tutorial?
It cracks...it doesn't fade though. They never wear like Factory. The better quality leather paints last longer, but it will always crack & age differently.. especially if you're trying to cover over black
That video was really simple but it was fire. I respect anyone who uses a detail brush to get the sides of the leather. 9/10, the ONLY reason for the deduction is the double taping of the tongue which was redundant.
couple things in regard to safety and acetone: acetone is in fingernail polish remover. it's almost completely safe for skin contact, unless you have open cuts. secondly: gloves like you were using can potentially melt under contact with acetone, as it is a petroleum plastic solvent. THAT has a higher chance of fusing your skin to the glove than using no gloves at all. fun fact: the same rules apply for liquid nitrogen, but for different purposes. you really don't want to wear gloves when working with that stuff at all.
The gloves I used were good for acetone use. I’ve been using it for a few years now. Acetone may not damage the skin but it will really dry it out and it’s kinda uncomfortable for me. Sometimes it will leave behind a dry white mark on the skin that’ll go away in a few minutes but still I prefer to use safe gloves.
Glad to see you get a video to do well above your average, in terms of views! Keep up the good work brother, looks like you know what you need to be doing more of! Much love from Texas, yeehaw 🤠🤘🏾

Very clean work my man, I’m planning on doing this custom myself soon and the tips you shared are amazing
Killer work! Great attention to the detail and esp the white stitching!
u can also use a sharpie for the edges of the leather and it will work just as well since the leather fibers will absorb it
Great job!!! If you don’t mind sharing, What specific type of airbrush did you use?
Also how long did u blow dry for before applying the next coat?
You dont Nev an airbrush but I'm sure it makes it easier
Blow dry for a minute or two
Looks pretty smooth. Great job. Would you be willing to do the same to another pair of Heritages?
