Version 4.5 is running a test with some players (randomly selected, which is appropriate af for a gacha game). This new launcher changes how the update process works, specifically with how it reserves file space. I'm not trying to jinx it, but I just opened my v4.4 launcher, updated it, and then just clicked the big yellow "update" button... But instead of telling me that I'm out of space, it just started downloading the v4.5 game files. This might be the easy Steam Deck update solution we've all been waiting for. People can complain about anniversary rewards all they want, but I'm loving these fundamental improvements the devs are making. I wouldn't be surprised if they released a feature to replay old events in the next year.
After patch 4.0 I updated my launcher successfully, but after downloading 33Gb of game update it says "failed to verify game files" and tries to download all 33Gb again...Does anyone know how to fix this?
Locate the game again from the launcher button, make sure you have enough space, almost full ssd's often have bad sectors and will corrupt files. Make sure you leave 20-30gb free at all times if possible.
@@ZhakOfAllTrades How do you locate the game? I keep selecting the folder where the game is installed from the launcher and it says game resources are not found and that I need to ensure the file path is correct or download the latest game resources. It doesn't even give me the option to update the game from the launcher, it just says "get game". I haven't updated the launcher itself yet so it could be that
@@pixelvapour1960 You have to find the "Genshin Impact game" folder, yours might not be located in the same folder where your launcher is. @@pixelvapour1960 Yes, that is normal, see my last video. You have to find the folder with Genshin Impact Game in it (Where the actual game files are) and then input the path to it in the Config.ini. Its all explained in the video. Good luck!

When I try to launch genshin impact, it goes straight into the game (the part where there's the bridge and the door) instead of the screen that's at the beginning of the video. how do I fix that???
Hi again, sadly the game is unsupported by any Proton layer as of right now. I've tried a bunch of different methods to run it. For the time being you can stream it from pc and play on the Deck
I've already done the exact same manipulation because the launcher deleted itself for obscure reasons And it had worked So why isn't that working write now I swear I'm doomed lmao My theory is that, it may be because it's a pre-installation Or I'll have to reinstall all the game when fontaine is out lmao
OK IT WORKS For all people who were stuck like me: Don't move the folders from your sd card copy of the Genshin Impact file, to your already installed Genshin Impact file Instead of that, you can directly launch the second launcher on your sd card, and localize your Genshin Impact Game file from here It will make you able to install the update in the right file, and from your second launcher That is probably what he is saying in his video, and I could have not understood some step, idk, but I post it in case someone has the same problem
This is false. Proton just emulates an "windows like environment" in Linux if the anticheat doesn't work, the game won't run at all, and that sometimes happens after updates. You can NOT be banned for playing from a steam deck, worry not!
The game will probably come to Steam only when it starts losing a lot of player base. This will be Years. Not to mention it is not a guarantee that it will be supported for the deck even then. Do you need help setting your game up?

I appreciate the guide. It's a shame that getting genshin to work/not break is still such a headache on the deck

your voice is very soothing and you get straight to the point, great guide! thanks 🤗🙌🏻
Do you know how to fix instant crash after launching genshin? I tried what you did in this video but it didn't work for me
Hi Zhak! Great vid as usual. How frequently should we be updating the launcher? Every other update? Whenever we feel convenient?
Thank you!
In my opinion only update if you have no other option (if it breaks the game or stops the actual game from updating)

Try pressing the Steam button, it should unlock the mouse for a few seconds!
I'm just gonna wait for 4.3 then uninstall reinstall i cant fucking fathom doing this every month when i have it on desktop too
can you play the game while all the files are in the sd card?
Yes! As long as the card is inserted in the Deck that is 😅
lets how long it takes for 4.0

300mb for genshin impact?
Hey! This is just the launcher not the actual game. As the issue is with updating the launcher not the game itself.
