Hi there clover script creator here! Very nice video thanks for making a tutorial for it.
Btw i pushed several updates since this video was published and one cool feature i added is the ability to customize the BGRT logo. Check it out if you haven't already.
Thanks for the heads up! I’ll check it out and see about making an update asap. Thanks for the comment and software!
Best video I've seen on dual booting the Steam deck. Perfectly executed and straight to the point. Thank you for this.
So just like on normal PC (desktop or laptop) - there's no any difference as far as I can see.
Your delivery pace and cadence are excellent and you have a great way of sharing!! Man I love this channel.
Thank you so much for the comment and positivity!
Follow this guide but when I go into boot loader it only shows windows. No way to go back to steamOS.
Exactly same problem pls help how to fix it
Thanks for this guide. Really useful. Bit of a tip. If you install windows as English (World) in the region / currency select it will actually install without all the bloatware software. Trimming down the install a bit. You can change the region in the OS after in order to access the store etc
Nice tip, thanks!
My screen starts flickering after I try nd go into windows now in happened right after I was updating windows it asked me to restart nd it was over after that I never got back in any ideas?
Hi I have oled and after I install windows 11 audio and WiFi are not working so how you fix that?
Great step by step video !! Was super helpful. I was finally at the last step after installing windows i was ready to install clover to dual boot but once it was time to open the boot menu and select steam os, ONLY windows appears for me im not sure why steam Os disappeared or what i couldve done… im debating on erasing the whole steam deck again and starting over but i wanted to see if its a easy fix without me starting over or ?
Thank you for your time and help !
did you ever solve steamOS disappearing?
@@samrose9675 @carlosromero8320 Same issue with me, let me know if it got fixed
same problem here. seems only w11 were installed
Update?
Welp
only 3k views on this vid is crazy!, by far the best video on how to duel boot, Thanks so much man!
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for the positivity and support. :)
My steam os disappeared 😓😓
sameeee
I used this method and got windows installed fine…however, after leaving my deck overnight to finish installs steam os would not boot…long story short I have two steam boot options and now can’t access windows..which is still installed..please help if possible
Same here.
@mikethetech I have SteamOS and Efi partition in boot menu, no USB boot device to load in steamOS preinstall. How do i get USB device in list?
Usb must be formated fat32 or ntfi
I never leave comments on any videos but I've tried at least 5 other tutorials and failed every time until seeing your video.
Thanks so much!
I have seen on reddit that when a new steam os comes out, some people have had there entire windows install wiped... what are your thoughts on this? Have you had any issues similar to this? Would you recommend this method vs booting windows from an external SSD?
You can always run a script again and fix it. You don't loose anything. And its only when steam releases BIOS firmware updates. Its not all updates..
Hi there clover script creator here.
when that happens just manually boot to SteamOS using volup+power, boot from file, esp > efi > steamos > steamcl.efi
After that the script will automatically fix the dual boot no further action needed. Once you reboot it will go back to the Clover screen.
i did that because of the windows problem, and im getting black screen@@10MinuteSteamDeckGamer
Still an issue?
Windows 11 Steam big picture mode, i got no wifi. Help.
5:39 it is stuck ar 11 percent for me, on "1/2 Running: Shrink partition" on the resize file system bla :( what shall i do?
edit: it was stuck at 11% and went instant to 100% with a runtime of 35:12 mins :D
so if anyone else has this problem: just wait :) i had an ssd, hdd might take longer
Yes, the same here
@@EDW4RD249 okay i figured out that u ju8st gotta wait patiently! it turns to 100% after like an hour :)
Tnx for that m8 i was actually starting to worry but worked out eventually .
Way better than sd card as sd cards have a limited amout of reads and writes
Worth the time and subscribed
This was a great video. I had to reimage my steam deck since my dual boot broke based on someone else video. This was perfect and no issue with windows updates. Thanks!
Glad it helped!
Does this work on OLED now that the windows drivers for OLED are out? Thanks!
Unfortunately I don’t have an OLED model to test on. My apologies. Not sure.
@@MikeTheTech Thanks boss, i just tried this and it definitely works on the OLED aswell :)
For the Windows set up I'm getting "we couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one". I've verified I formatted a portion (200GB) to NTFS. Also deleted then format the partition from within the windows installer. any suggestions?
Thanks mate finally a non bullshit guide 😂👍🏻
lol. 🫡 I appreciate the comment!
This would be a great video until i read the comments saying they encounter a lot of issues
Haven’t had any issues so far and it’s been about 5 months
Hello friend, I changed my SSD but I can't install steamOS.
HUGE shoutout to you, sir! Thank you so much! I was having such a hard time with this! Great tutorial!
Is there any chance this could brick the steam deck?
You, sir, are a legend. THANK YOU. Liked, subscribed, favorited... full combo.
Thanks for everything! You rock!
Now that steam deck oled can support dual boot, can i use this same method??
Why is it that when I boot up the windows setup, it says that it cant locate any drives for the installation media when I did everything right? Can somebody help?
Valve hasn’t updated the drivers for the steam deck oled
@@Skip_Gaming oh okay

Any ideas why windows was working the first time I did this (day ago) but now I get bluescreen when trying to boot into it using clover? SteamOS works fine, the error is "Inaccessible boot drive" and it's on my SSD
Steam updates can often break dual boot installs.
i want without usb
Been at 11% on kde partition for 30 mins 😅 is this normal?
i made a new partion on the ssd and went to install windows on my steam deck and it says that it can create or find an exisiting partion but i see where i made the new one in the list above to choose from. any idea on what to do?
hi. my steam os not showing on boot menu anymore after installing win os. what to do?
I have the same issue
@@michaelrix3216 try this:
Start with Steam Deck off.
Hold Volume + button and power.
Choose "Boot from file".
Select esp/efi/steamos/steamcl.efi.
Wait until SteamOS boots (there will be a blank screen for some time, but Steam should start after that).
Go to desktop mode.
Open Konsole.
EDIT: if you never used sudo then type passwd and press Enter. Then set up your password that you will have to use whenever you run sudo.
Run following command:
sudo efibootmgr -c -L "SteamOS" -l "\EFI\steamos\steamcl.efi" -d /dev/nvme0n1p1
This will add a boot menu option for SteamOS.
EDIT: If you're typing the command by hand, 2 remarks:
it is one line command (in mobile apps it might be seen as multiple lines)
the third flag, between "SteamOS" and "\EFI... is a dash and lowercase L (it might look like number one or uppercase i)
Same here , could you fix it?
does this ever break after a software updare
Sooooooooo freaking easy clear straight forward. I love it!!!!!’
Yeah & the Rick and Morty theme is cool, too
kde partition manager is stuck on 11%
Hello, in KDE they said no valid partition table was found. What do I do ? Create one ?
This was so helpful, the SD card dual-booting is such an awful idea to do so you might as well take the extra time to do this and just get it over with.
5:25 Its stuck on 9%
Thanks for a great guide!
But I do have a few problems with Windows. For starters the sound doesn't work; do you have any idea what may be the cause of it and how to fix it? Another problem I have is with some video stuff; for example some game won't run when I use GeForce Now to run it. Reporting deferent problems.
Any help is appreciated.
Thank again for the guild.
Did you install the drivers?
@@MikeTheTech First of all thanks for the fast response I really appreciate that. Second; I did install the drivers, but by mistake I installed the OLED ones instead of the LCD ones. So problem solved there. Third; I ran into another problem.
The Valorant anti-cheat need Secure Boot to be enabled in order to run. I checked the System Info and the secure boot state is off. I tried Enabling it in the BIOS but I can't seem to find it. I did some searching and a lot of people are saying there is no Secure Boot on the Steam Deck, because Valve disabled it since there is no need for it to run Steam OS. Is that true? Or is there another way to fix this problem and run Valorant?
Thank again!
I'm on 7 minutes now and 0% fml
How can we get custom themes? By the way I didn’t have a Rick and Morty options so I went with gothic.
Yeh me too 😢
Thanks a lot, really works and saved me a whole lot of time with your instructions! Well recommended!
Great to hear!
This is the only video guide that worked for me, thank you! I don't know how often I'll use Windows on my Deck, but my favorite part about owning tech is having options for doing different things, especially gaming. This process was quick and simple!
steam deck error: "faild to mount ' /dev/disk/by-partsets/self/rootfs' on real root

I just want to play my modded Skyrim without issues. A lot of mods work on Steam (with some crazy workarounds) but Nemesis Behavior Engine is just not being nice

did you ever figure this out?
@@borismurillo2834 I think it's because I was in a beta software update but I haven't received any since then
Hi, thanks for the great video!
wanna ask, why we need to install Steam OS first? we already have it, right? then we can create the partition for the windows OS
hope you answer it
From what I understand, the program to change the partition can not be running from the partition you wanna change, that's why he uses steamos from usb
Thanks, my bad missing that part
Not that I want to but is there a way to undo the partition and get back the full amount of storage for SteamOS if u want remove Windows?
This worked perfect, thanks!
Great to hear!
Do you think i can install windows on my internal disk (64 gb)? i will install all my games in external sd cards btw
Question: How can I share the sd card between steamos and windows? And, can it be done without losing the current data in the sd card?
You have 2 same video about this theme. First video you tell download steam os, show rufus and etc. But second not rufus not steam os download. Just put usb and install windows on other part of hdd
PLEASE HELP:
After plugging in the USB and starting the process, a black screen remains after 5-6 minutes. Despite waiting for a long time, nothing happens. The mouse cursor moves, but I don't encounter a screen like yours. What should I do in this situation?
for me this was an issue with the specific usb drive i was using, switching to a different usb stick fixed it for me

Great guide for the dual booting and installation of windows onto the steam deck. I may be a little late to the party with the thanks but great work and thanks. 👍👍👍
hey this has been great but i've hit a roadblock at the 10:30 mark in your video. for some reason ethernet is the only option it won't let me connect to my wifi. It looks as though wifi is not even an option. I'll have to stop and continue this tomorrow after i get an ethernet cord i suppose lol
after some googling i found these instructions:
"When you get to this screen, shift + F10, In Command Prompt, type the OOBE\BYPASSNRO command to bypass network requirements on Windows 11 and press Enter.
Windows will restart, now you will get to the same acreen, but can now click I don't have an internet connection and continue with setup"
this allowed me to continue with an "i dont have internet option" on the same screen and continue :)
so after i thought it was working it still can only connect to the internet via ethernet so again i'll have to wait to get an ethernet cable :/
not even sure why but now when i go to boot windows the screen is just blue so idk whats going on lol
Same thing just happened to me.
great guide. thanks!!
How do I repartition my drive to revert from Windows back to only SteamOs?

Corrupt file. I'd download Windows again.
Thank you so much for this

Hey guys, I just upgraded my deck to 2tb storage and planning to dual boot windows. Was wondering is it possible to shrink 2 extra partitions 1 is for windows (60GB) another 1 is for storage (1TB exFAT). The reason why is because exFAT can be shared for both Windows and SteamOS. Have anyone tried it before?
Bro, look at GParted. That should make it easy to do
Just did this! Thank you so much for showing us how to do this! I reset my steam deck to do this too 😂
My rufus doesn't open how yours does 😢
How can we switch to Steam and windows operating systems? I want to know how to switch from Steam os to windows. And how do windows switch to Stame os?
Just restart like in the video.
Which is best to run for steamdeck windows 10 .. Sandisk extreme 512 A2 or samsung Evo plus 512 A2... Ples tell..bro
Don't run windows on SD card, run on ssd
Can this be done using an Imac computer?
This video was dope thanks for the help bruv and clover is awesome for switching between os
So i feel i over allocated my windows drive. Can i reallocate less without having to restart the process?
I was able to do this successfully. I had to shred the storage in kde partition and luckily it worked
Do you have a steam deck oled? I saw a video of someone using the lcd windows audio driver and actually got it to play sound, but no instructions
No, this is the original Steam Deck.
To let you all know you can use another drive for windows ;)
Yup! This video is specifically for those with only one drive.
I’m so frustrated LOL. I have a 128GB usb and when I go to partition on the deck, I can’t move anything. I also have 2 unallocated parts not 1. So I tried to partition both but I can’t move them. Even in safe mode. Then I try to install windows and it says none of the selections are NTFS or they’re too small GB. I don’t see anything I’ve created 😭 I’ve been doing this for literally 7 hours I kid you not.
Are you trying to partition the usb drive? It needs to be the main drive.
@@MikeTheTechI was actually able to get it to work but unfortunately when trying to dual boot, everytime I entered boot mode, SteamOs was completely gone, couldn’t do anything but go into windows so I have to restart another time 😭
You deserve a lot of subscriber. Thank you!!

Yeah
question, everything was going great until the restart after windows install when it restarted to install drivers, it hung up on the steam deck logo and been like that for around 10 mins now not showing progress for anything i restarted to try to go into bios and same thing stuck on the steam deck logo. is this normal just takes awhile to boot for the first time. P.S i already had clover installed and set up running windows from a micro SD card
same thing happened on my end, is why i ended up reimaging my steamos deleting everything and started from scratch totally wasting my time.

Hey,
im stuck at the windows installation part that needs me to connect to a network and continue. My wifi aren't showing up and i dont have an ethernet cable that can plug into the steamdeck. is there a fix to this?

Is it ok to do it on a steam deck oled 500 gb? Does windows take alot of space ?
Windows is 4gb, so 256gb is enough for launchers and games

That means you didn’t boot into the safe mode/bios mode.
