Just to add something i had trouble with. After installing windows, to get back to SteamOS, you need to get to bios and select bootmanager and select SteamOS. If steamOS doesnt appear in the list than, in the BIOS, select boot from file and select esp/efi/steamos/steamcl.efi. and steamOS will start. Thx for the tutorial.

I actually stumbled on your video when I was looking for ways to dual boot windows I tried using various methods but to no avail or make the process seem to much of a chore. Despite the video being super long but it was worth it every step of the way is easy to do and guess what everything works as shown for that you get a sub.

Thank you for making this video it helped me a lot. I got everything to work. To make Bluetooth work I had to create a folder called "REALTEK" in the Program Files folder under Local Disk (C:) -> Drag the whole Bluetooth driver installer folder into desktop -> open it -> right click the installer then "Run as Administrator" (Works right after without restarting).
For the Handheld Companion app get the latest version online instead of the link provided in the description. Using the old version of the app then updating manually within the app breaks the app (The app won't open after the update for some reason).

Nice video man! VEry well explained. One thing to mention is that it can take up 30 minutes to partition the drive. While so the progress bar will stay at 0% (atleast it did for me). And went all the way up to 100% at once when it was finished. I can imagine people not being patient and thinking what the hell is going wrong. But just be patient it is running in the background.

One thing to note is, if you make a MicroSD bootable in Linux, you may have trouble in Windows, where the drive may not even appear with drive letter or in partitioning tools. You can fix this by using Ext2Fsd to recognize the drive, give it a letter, and format it for Windows.

Would you recommend making a bigger windows partition to install windows games on the SSD or a small partition to utilize the microSD for Windows game storage? Congrats on getting the Steam Deck! As for the partition, I have tried both ways based on my gaming habits. If you play a lot of games that only run on Windows and want better performance than I would allocate more space on the SSD for Windows. If there are only a couple of games that only run on Windows and most of your library runs on SteamOS, then I would give Windows about 64GB and use the SD card to store the games. And yes, you will want to format the SD card as NTFS but I believe you can also format as BTRFS as well

    • @OVERKILLGAMING786

So, as someone who has a Steam Deck I can say that you really can't go wrong with the Steam Deck. Of course, I have pre-ordered the ROG Ally and I am sure I will enjoy it. But much is to be learned about it. I cannot really speak on how good it will be. I do also own an Ayaneo Geek which is a Windows Handheld with a 6800U and this is very similar to what the ROG Ally will be, but the ROG Ally will have less specs than my Ayaneo (for example, my Ayaneo has a bigger battery). If you are looking for a device that excels at being a handheld, then there is nothing better than the Steam Deck. Sure, my Ayaneo mops the floor with the Steam Deck at higher TDP, which makes it great for playing docked, but if you are wanting to get more than 1.5 hours unplugged then all of that power isn't as useful as one might think. Ultimately, it will depend on how you plan to use your handheld. For me, an hour of battery life unplugged is fine because I mostly play unplugged at work. Then I come home and dock it like a console. I am also very comfortable with Windows and know how to tinker. If you are like me, then ROG Ally. If you are looking for a more powerful Switch with a great out of the box experience and very little tinkering required and longer battery life and the ability to play any with a little bit of tinkering, then go for the Steam Deck. You'll also have the better support plus a wide range of options for third party accessories such as cases, skins, replacement parts, community mods, etc.

In your case, I would recommend the Steam Deck. Get the cheapest model and upgrade it over time. You won't be disappointed

fix for the garbled screen when Windows boots up -
Open command prompt with admin privileges and enter the command -
    bcdedit.exe -set {globalsettings} highestmode on
    And thanks for the shoutout!

how do you establish admin privileges? I am assuming in Windows? It's my SteamDeck. New to anything related to coding. Is there a space before you start typing the line? Thanks

Neat... idk if I will do this but... it could help with playing games or apps that don't like proton and instaban y

Yes, with Windows you won't have to worry about Proton. If you are planning to dual boot the OLED Steam Deck, be advised that not all of the drivers are available yet. Still waiting on LAN/Wifi, Bluetooth and sound drivers for the OLED

Hi, do I have to reimage before doing this or can I just resize my ssd even if it’s half full already ?

    • @OVERKILLGAMING786
      @OVERKILLGAMING786  Год назад

You can resize without reimaging as long as there is enough space available for your intended setup on the new partition
