i actually met the founder today, christine, at a fireside chat. they started the business with 25k from each of their savings, and did some consulting for other beauty companies to funnel the cash into glow recipe. she reflected that not taking in outside investment at first was the right move for them. to this day they only accepted 1 investor, 6 years ago. now their company is worth 500 million.

This reminds me of scrub daddy, both scrub daddy & glow recipe. We’re given a chance by 1 shark but also treated badly, laughed at by the rest. But the thing older generations the “sharks” here didn’t realize was something like tik tok would help these brands blow up. & because of that these companies had a chance to become a household name. Everyone’s heard of glow recipe now, & everyone’s heard of scrub daddy too

Their marketing and product development is what made them successful. I love a lot of their products and the watermelon line is my favourite
exactly- at this time they look like every other drugstore brand. when they first showed the products it reminded me of freedmans. with the unique bottling and baby pink aesthietic it jumps out. it has more of an elevated look. they know how to sell.

They’re extremely lucky Robert didn’t go out. Quite insulting that they didn’t seem to value him and kept going after Mark. Robert clearly has no ego he was fine to still work with them despite their behaviour.
Robert knows his reputation is really bad because of how few deals close. He knows he doesn't have the sams pull Mark does.
Robert actually often pulls out when people ignore him. This seems to be one of the only times he didn’t

I attended a networking event for women in January and these two outstanding women were guest speakers. They said they’re asked about this Shark Tank pitch all the time. I forgot how much they’ve changed their business though. It’s incredibly different from what they pitched to the Sharks

Both glow recipe & scrub daddy were treated badly on shark tank. But both companies blew up.. thanks to tik tok, which these older generation “sharks” on shark tank never expected something like tik tok to be used to help brands go viral
There was a world before TikTok. Scrub Daddy was a household name and the biggest hit to ever be on Shark Tank before TikTok was even released outside of China.

Don’t use their products, they’re trash, especially or sensitive skin. They’re products are filled with fragrances, essential oils and bunch of irritating ingredients. It will rhino your skin in the long run if not now

But everyone ik IRL (including myself) tried glow recipe has gotten horrible breakouts or skin reactions but maybe it’s just not good for sensitive skin.. idk but I really wanted to love it😭
I agree, 99% of products in Sephora/ulta/drugstore are not actually good in my opinion, I only use specialty skincare off dermatology websites and actual natural ingredients like aloe vera. This is mainly an aesthetic product

@@Dwade32 TBH they really were on the bleeding edge of a huge revolution in skincare. They were instrumental in converting a lot of westerners to a totally different attitude, routine, & products. I wish they hadn't pivoted from curation (where I was a loyal customer) to their own product line (which I hate) but at this point I'd wager there are a lot more people who know Glow Recipe because they care about kbeauty than because they care about Shark Tank.

@@amazonjunglez1188 Their products are mainly skin care items. Some have good ingredients but can average around $30-40 for only about 40ml of product. You can get similar skin care elsewhere for more volume and less $$ imo.
