      Yep I use a can opener. But be sure to open it over the pan. The food will fall out as soon as you start in most cases. Its a really good way to get "all" the tomato paste out of the can. Just push the bottom end through.

      Mike I'm a big knife guy and I just wanna say I cut cans with my knives all the time and put a fast sharpen on it its it's good to go. It doesn't wreck it at all now get some kevlar gloves found in fishing places or talk to me and improve your knife skills

    • @MikeKobb
      @MikeKobb 9 лет назад

      Given the target audience for the video, I was sort of assuming that the person wouldn't really know how to sharpen. If you're an expert and can re-make your edge, then you certainly have the option.

    To open a jar you don't need tape, just use a knife to get just under the lid by the groves and break the seal. Once the seal is broken it'll open with no problem, that's how I open all of mine and it's much easier...

    • @Volvary

    Protip about the beans in a can, if you squeeze the can on one side while it's held upside down, it will break that air-sealing that goes on to keep the beans in. Works every time with refried beans.

    The easiest way I know to open a jar is to run the lid under hot water all the way around. The heat makes the metal expand and loosen so it's easy to take off :) I've used this many times on the supposedly un-openable jars that all the guys at work try to show how strong they are by opening (but fail) and I just run it under hot water, science ftw! :D

    • @BabyKrogan
      @BabyKrogan 9 лет назад +2

    • @StoneOfMoon
      @StoneOfMoon 9 лет назад +1

      +BabyKrogan Instead of hot water, I run it over the stove fire on low for half a minute to a full minute, depending on how quick it took.
      But there was this one time it didn't work so I took a wide rubber band, wrapped it around, and just turned it like you normally would. :)

    I don't get why you wouldn't just boil 10 eggs in a pot instead of wasting all that energy to cook them in the oven. Also the tin foil & spoon hack, if you don't have a plate to rest the spoon on and insist to use the tin foil, why not just rest the spoon on the tin foil instead of wrapping it around the handle.

    • @MotelCentralia
      @MotelCentralia 7 лет назад +1

    Hey, about watering the plants, if your not home and dont have people watching your plants at your home for you, fill a 50cl soda (plastic)bottle as much as you can, without cork, flip it upside down and press it into the pot/dirt so much it can stand for itself, now you have a self watering system lasting for a week with just the right amount of water draining out of it :-)

    I have easier solutions:
    1: Use a rubber dishwashing glove or latex glove, they're often more at hand in the kitchen
    2: Don't bother poking holes, just use the bottle and pour slowly
    3: Use egg rings or don't bother with rings, have freeform fried eggs
    5: Use a spoon
    7: balance it on the handle or use a plate
    9: Use a saucepan and boil them, it's more power efficient and takes less time.

    To the last one with the bread. A serrated knife should be used to avoid crushing.

    • @lunavixen015
      @lunavixen015 10 лет назад

      Some bread types like tiger loaves are a pain in the ass to cut even with a serrated knife because of the uneven top crust, cutting from the bottom gives a better cut overall.

    • @kasai999000
      @kasai999000 10 лет назад

    Interesting bread idea for the cookies! We have used that trick to keep brown sugar soft. Even if it is all hard and stuck together, put a piece of bread in and the next day, it's all soft again! We have a meal of the day after each of our workout videos, check them out!

  • @mysteriousyoungman

    Why go through the trouble getting duct tape when you can just run hot water over the lid and loosen it?
    If you're smart you have a spoon rest at your stove so you don't have to waste tin foil every time you cook and look like an absent minded MacGyver.

      Or use a rubber dishwashing glove, or if the whole jar is being used, punch a hole through the lid with a knife to break the vacuum.

    For the can, it makes more sense to use the can opener on both sides. Take out one of the lids then use the other to push the beans through.

    • @michaellh04
      @michaellh04 10 лет назад

      many cans don't have the same lip on the top as they do the bottom, otherwise it could work depending on the kind of can your fav brand uses.

  • @dhruvpatel3323
    @dhruvpatel3323 7 лет назад +4

    instead of using tin foil, you can put it in the hole of the handle

    • @dhruvpatel3323
      @dhruvpatel3323 7 лет назад

      then you can't use this trick. but sometimes the cooking utensil you're using will fit into the hole of the pot handle

    A thing with reheating pizza that I find useful is putting in the oven. At least with the pizza I get, 10 minutes on 375F makes it taste pretty much like new. Just cover a baking pan with aluminum foil and you’re set. I’ve never tried the stove method, so I can’t voice my opinion on it, but I hope I helped someone, even if just a little.

  • @thejimg

    I've found the best way to remove a really tight jar lid is to wrap it with sandpaper. The sandpaper grit grips the lid, and the paper backing can be grasped much better with the hand than the slick lid.

    The pizza one, you could just pop it in a toaster oven for 5 minutes on bake at like 200 - 225 degrees...if you want it realllly reallllllly hot and crispy put in another 5 minutes.
    i personally think pizza tastes better the other day after you re heat it in the oven.

  • @CatfishSam33

    you can also put eggs in bell pepper, or cut a whole in some toast. If you put a small cup of water in the microwave with pizza, the crust wont get rubbery or hard.

    You can also reheat the pizza in a microwave as it was first from the box by placing a glass of water next to it when reheating it. The vapor from the water makes it soft and good as new.

    1) store your PJ's in your pillowcase during the day to save space.
    2) tie a long piece of yarn to a ceiling fan switch for easy access.
    3) use drier sheets as shoe fresheners
    4) use an empty tissue box to hide items by cutting out the bottom side and leaving one tissue going halfway through the top.
    5) hide yummy food behind stacks of cans in the pantry, if the food does not have to be refrigerated.
    6) dip dry markers in water to make them last longer.

    Also, if the jar is opened for the first time: just take a table knife, stick it under the lid from the side and twist until you can hear the lid pop. Keeping the jar under warm water helps also.

    There's a better way to make the pizza, instead of flipping it pour some water into the pan (4 or 5 drops). Turn off the heat and cover. The water should evaporate and moisturize the pizza letting it taste like it was just made.
