what’s sucks is how people complain the show didn’t follow history enough, yet the reason this show ended so damn fast is because a lot of the viewers stopped watching because francis died which was apart of history.
laura Silveria i understand that but it’s not like they could completely ignore the fact that he died. Maybe some of the details but they had to include his death since the shoes foundation is built off of history. the viewers who claim the show didn’t follow history enough are the same ones mad francis died..which is apart is history.
@laura Silveria Laura, since they altered history, and they exercised their creative license, they should've gone all the way. In real life, there was no mistress Lola & son, James. That was one of the BIGGEST mistakes Reign made! It made absolutely no sense. Worse, it set the groundwork for a series of very bad storylines. Killing Francis off was a bad choice--drama-wise & for the show's longevity. So was the Mary rape & affair with Conde. None of which was historically accurate. Reign was begging to be cancelled. It would still be on today if they made smarter choices.
Mary had loved many times, Bash, Conde, Gideon and Bothwell but Francis was her first love and to see her reunited with him in the afterlife was beautiful. They are soulmates and they always will be.
She was just a girl al the first, so i think she didn’t know what is love. She didn’t love all of this man, only Francis. (Of cause i’m talking about the serie and not a out the story)
Me too, i missed so much that "Francis" that she always speaked I love when he says "I've been waiting for you" ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ after 28 years they still love each other ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ i stay so happy when they found the peace together after a so difficult life being King and Queen (specially for Mary) was so difficult her reign, he had to fight so much, and she fought until her last breath for her country, i love her so much and i love him so much too❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ They deserved better, this is fact!
I totally agree with you, it was natural, they're looking fresh, young and beautiful in what they really are, not king and queen, but a boy and a girl, being in love simple persons. By the way, I enjoy Mary's kind of aegyo sal! 😍😍💖
The chemistry between Toby and Adelaide made this show worthwhile for me. Seeing Francis and Mary reunited in the afterlife was such a great pay-off to their love story. They had always longed to be free from the burdens of leadership and eternally joined together, and they were ultimately rewarded with this in heaven. One of the best couples ever on television
I wish at the end in the end in the afterlife they would have shown them running with their children they discussed as he was dying the first time. That would have made it so wonderful.
I had major issues with this season and how rushed things had to be, but good lord did those last 3 minutes make up for it. He waited for her.... I sobbed...
Ikr. It was sad, because it was evident that the show could have went on for more seasons but for whatever reasons, they just had to use the "X years later" -card and be like "Yup! That pretty much sums it up!" xD The montage at the end was so beautiful though, so the makers of the series get at least some points from that. ♥
I don't know when it was but there was a time in an earlier season where Mary told Francis to wait for her, then it's the first thing he says after when he sees her here.
Thank you ! The last episode felt like they cut an entire season to finish it.....i was shocked when it ended.... the way it did... There was no progression whatsoever... They just chopped it off completely at the end... So quickly that I still cannot wrap my head around it... I absolutely love this entire series but I absolutely despise the last episode and how it was completely cut off... One minute you're watching and then the next minute Mary son is old talking to Elizabeth about his mother being executed... Whatever happened to Catherine? Whatever happened to narcisse? What happened to Claude? What happened to bash? Charles ? Henri ? The witch ?....catherine's behavior when she was drunk ? The devil ? The entire thing just doesn't compute! Its almost like you're in the middle of watching a film and somebody just pulled the plug ... I'm still shocked as to how they just changed from one scene to the end of Mary Stewart and ignored all these major characters that held this series together... As much as I love this series I absolutely hate the ending and how it was rushed! God I'm so sad that the series is over... And more sad because of all these unanswered questions that I have ... guys feel free to interject
Actually, i'm not. First, i expected it, second her life after Francis died was a torture, more and more bad people came into her life and ruined her, then she was captured for so long. She finally got peace, but i'm not saying that any tears did not fall down, it did.
@@marilynstokes4192 Mary fled to England because she thought Elizabeth was the only one who could help her and Elizabeth captured her because she was afraid she would take the throne away from her.
@@marilynstokes4192 she was accused of treason. She was suspected to be part of a plot to assassinate Elizabeth I. She had a trial and one evidence, which is a letter where she agrees to kill Elizabeth, was brought up. However, the circumstances are still a bit cloudy and there are still doubts surrounding the veracity of the evidence. In the end, no one can really be sure whether she is guilty of treason or not.
That's only because it was recorded and her story told. You can't possibly make remarks like that, as you can't possibly know what every person has endured throughout history. But her story was no doubt sad and unfortunate. Despite all that, she had an epic life. She was a monarch and ruled over 2 countries. She is a figure to many people and like all people, she struggled and suffered, but that is to live. There definitely were many people in Mary's time that were far worse off.
I JUST REALIZED THAT THE CROSS NECKLACE SHE HAS IN HER HAND AND PRAYS WITH BEFORE HER EXECUTION IS THE SAME ONE THAT THE LITTLE GIRL (ROSE) FROM THE CONVENT IN THE FIRST EPISODE GAVE HER... my mind is actually blown
@Shonali Akhter Because that's how it's been in history. Mary dies at 44, beheaded. And because of her young age and the courage with which she faced her death, she is remained like perhaps the most tragic monarch in history.
@Shonali Akhter She was executed because Elizabeth I feared that Mary would end up taking her throne. As Elizabeth was a Protestant that most English people saw as a an illegitimate heir and Mary had legitimate claim to the crown. The fact that Mary was Catholic and had produced an heir would have made her more attractive to her English subjects. Her son was King James VI of Scotland & James I of England 🇬🇧 The King James who was responsible for having the Bible translated to English in 1611.
Oo ohhhhwwww 🥺 I don't know Reign that much, but seeing the Rosary I know is used by us Catholics well... And she was praying on it ay this time.... I feel like crying😭😭😭
Little known fact, the actress who played Queen Mary, A Kane, is actually a descendant of Queen Mary of Scots via her mother's side. And as much as i cried during this i remember that it was her son James who came to rule England after the Tudor line ended with Elizabeth. So in a way Mary won in the end
It is not uncommon to be a descendant of a British monarch if you are British. I was able to trace my lineage back to the Shaw-Stewart baronets who are all descendants of John Stewart of Ardogowan and Blackhall, the bastard son of Robert III of Scotland.
Its very likely to trace your linage to the british royal family. im a descendant from a english noble family called Somerset. (The lady who was Elizabeths mothers Anne's friend who Lola tried to frame) and I'm a direct descendant from Anne Neville, Richard iii's wife.
Monarchs have a lot of children typically. A lot of them carry the name but get illegitimate or they don't do much so they barely make history. Its normally the first son that serves. The second son might come next but the third and fourth often get forgotten and they carry royal blood but they marry more commoners like nobles. Some even lower lower class.
average everyday people That broke my heart. In the TV show at least. Also was shocked to realize that the two queens never actually met in person. If they did, I feel Mary would've been alive much longer. Both had so much in common. Being a woman monarch. Being young. However, they did exchange letters
Not really. She lost her son when he was a baby and hadn't seen him since. He didn't care much that she was beheaded and made all the efforts to please Elizabeth so that she'll make him her heir (in real life not the show) ... Is that winning??? She lost her country, her son and the men she loved. made mistakes and paid
Let me tell you a little bit about my Lord and savior Jesus Christ. He is your lord and savior too. All you have to do is learn about the only man who ever lived a sinless life. Learn about God the father who created this world, Jesus Christ has saved many people and He can save you too. Your soul and eternal salvation is very important my friend
I don’t know how they did it but somehow Reign managed to have an ending that broke my heart and warmed it at the same time. It takes true talent to pull something like that off and that is one of the many reasons why Reign is the greatest piece of TV art ever created!
What I love most about this scene is that you only have to think about Mary's previous years to understand it. From the day she arrived at French court to the day of her beheading, how much did she suffer? Nostradamus' prophecy, Catherine's constant torturing of her, the death of Aylee, her rape, her mistake with Conde which endangered France as a whole and forced her to stab Louis, the death of her unborn child, the death of her mother, the death of her true love and king Francis II, the departure of Bash, the death of Lola, the constant war with Knox and Elizabeth, the murder of her husband King Darnley, ALL OF THIS, counted for NOTHING in this moment. They took her head, and she was free to be the girl who loved a boy, free from all this suffering. Mary was given the impossible mission, her crown a burden no one can carry. Its lovely that she got to reunite with Francis forever.
King Darnley? LMFAO. He was King in name only. He had no actual power, and Mary was sick of him right around the 6 month mark of their marriage. Does anyone know the actual history of this woman or????
@@broganbanks6648 He was also a philandering, abusive drunk. He tried various ways to get his own wife de-throned so that he could take power. No one should have a whole lot of sympathy for the guy.
HE WAITED FOR HER. I haven't cried like this since his death in 3x05. After all of the crap that she's been through she gets to be with her true love in the end. It's kinda like he was her guardian angel.
I just hate that she had to wait somewhere around 22 or 23 years without seeing him again and she lost everyone and was alone in prison all those years
In real life Mary went on to marry her cousin later in life and didn't look to the past. the show romantisized her and francis relationship more than it was in history it says she probably didn't mourn as bad as the show showed her and moved on quickly
Sad part is that after Mary was beheaded…she wanted to be buried with Francis in real life but they didn’t do that, Instead they buried her in the United Kingdom and they kept Francis in France….love just like Romeo and Juliet…star crossed lovers that were never meant to be in their lifetime but maybe in another
@@isabellalockwood5858 she did mourn him deeply and history documents say she was devastated but their relationship was most likely not sexual as reign depicts. They were probably more like best friends.
I was sobbing at this when it ended and her whole life flashed before her eyes I walked out of my room and was like “ok I’m ready to die now.” Greatest show ever!
Forced to wed as children and procreate. She actually, as a Queen, was ineffective and didnt really do anything in regards to ruling Scotland. But TV loves airbrushing history, especially the CW
@@mediocremaiden8883 We all know it is historical fiction. Well, at least I know it is. Even though nothing was really true to history I still enjoyed the show. Please stop trying to ruin it for everyone else just because you disliked it. Also, your comment isnt relevant to what this person said at all. This is a reference to the show, you wouldn't understand if you didnt watch. I think you took it out of context. Have a good day though
@@mediocremaiden8883 It was very hard for her to do much for a few reasons. First, although she was the heir to the throne of Scotland, she was brought up in France, so the people of Scotland never really accepted her. Second, being a Catholic she had to fight against the Protestant lords who were always plotting against her, and third, she had to co tend with her cousin Elizabeth who feared her, because some thought she had a stronger claim to the English throne than Elizabeth. Mary made some poor choices, but she was thwarted at every step.
I was so happy when I first saw Francis and them finally ending up together. But when hearing "It's been so difficult, Francis. So difficult...", I wanted to weep. The story behind the words - her suffering, and the brilliant acting in that scene... Could simply not be any closer to perfection :)
One of the best Execution Scenes of how Mary truly held herself during this time I’ve ever seen. People wrote stating she walked with dignity, no force, head held high and only fearful of God. They say she wasn’t meant to die because it took THREE swings to kill and officially behead her.
I think the emotional scene which shows Mary reunited with Francis, is actually based on a poem Mary wrote dedicated to Francis: If I am at rest, sleeping on my couch, I hear him speak to me. I can feel his touch. In my work, as I receive. He is always near me.
Haven't watched since Francis died and I just bawled my eyes out. This was the absolute best ending for Reign and I hope somewhat close to what Mary got in real life. Francis was her true love, even if he was nothing like the show in real life and she never stopped loving him. Going to go sob forever now.
He was very loosely based on actual history, however, Mary did love him and vice versa. they were raised together as children so even if there was nothing romantic it was still genuine love. Same as Catherine who was like a mother to Mary since she moved to France at a young age. So the meanish relationship they have in the show is fake too
Hayley M for some reason they had to end the show and ended up cancelling everything and gave us this rushed ending. It still had another 1-3 seasons to go. Fuck I was so mad
Even at the most frightening moment in her life, she still had to compose herself like a graceful royal - even though her crown was practically gone at that point 😢
But in the end she won. Her son James became king of England. And while the House of Stuart may not rule the UK anymore their bloodline still runs through the veins of the Windsors and many crowned heads of Europe to this day, so as tragic as her death was in the end Mary won. Her line continued but the Tudor line ended with Elizabeth
In real life, I'd been years since she was considered royal after what the Scots did to her. After years of undermining Elizabeth, she ran straight to her for help after tarnishing any shred of reputation she still carried and Elizabeth was too scared of her to know what to do with her. Elizabeth never wanted to kill her, she was terrified of the thought. She was pressured into it and immediately regretted it. Regretted it so much that it's possible her last breath was "Mary."
19EHF actually, Tudor blood ran through the veins of the Stuarts since king James V, Mary's father. Mary was also a Tudor, that's the real reason why she was a pretender to the English throne.
the way she looks so peaceful... in francis´s arms, thats literally all she wanted to be at peace and her true love francis she lost so much and this whole scene made me cry, beautiful scene. and when he told her its all over now, just soo beautiful. im going to miss it definitely.
Call me crazy but in the second scene where she wakes up with Francis seems to be very similar to that of Nostradamus future prediction of them back in season one.
So Nostradamus can see one's future in the afterlife? Actually, that's a take on predicting the future that hasn't been done before. Kudos to the show for coming up with something original!
I watched Reign, I liked Reign, i stopped watching much after Francis dead. Then, i visited Scotland, i took tours, visited the Palace of Holyroodhouse, and much more. You have an amazing amazing country !! Such nice people, unlike england. I wish you had never been "conquered" by the english. Long live scotland the great :)
@@miwildberries Scotland wasn't conquered, to this day we have a Monarch who is 10th Great Granddaughter of Mary Queen of Scots. God save our Gracious Britannic Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal family
J Nicholas-Windsor No offense, but why do royals continuously name each other the same things? I’ve noticed like 4 trending names all over Europe throughout history. Is it out of tradition? Honor? It gets awfully confusing!
Even in death Mary won because she got to be reunited with the one she loved the most. Now she and Francis are just that boy and girl that they were talking about in season 1. No countries to worry about, no alliance, no nothing. All they have now is each other. Yes, Elizabeth and James basically killed her, but Elizabeth still has to deal with all the crap that comes with being a queen and Mary does not. #Marystuart
@Eric Roberts If you were replying to me, I would say that there's such a thing as history books and other sources of historical facts. I'm sure you've heard of them. And as someone who has done extensive study on this particular subject, I can say that Elizabeth was not a virtuous woman, nor was she a fair ruler. Perhaps YOU should study manners and not act like a spoiled brat.
Mary did it to herself! She wanted to reach the english frone and kill Elizabeth ofc she would die after elizabeth helped her survive and mary tried killing her
he waited, and waited. to reunite with his love. she loved many guys, but francis was her love. this made me cry. knowing he waited patiently for her to be with him ..
She was speaking to the audience in every season. this show brought us lessons and adventure and memories. I learned alot watching this. this show help me out in my life
This show is really dear to my heart. I never thought (even though its historical fiction) that I would love history so much. This was my first period drama of many, and It has taught me so much about life. As silly as that may sound ❤
Queen Mary Stuart was beheaded because the men in Queen Elizabeth first’s court schemed, and made it look like Queen Mary Stuart was behind the plot to murder Queen Elizabeth I. Just like Queen Mary, men plot to against Queen Mary because men in those days more than today believe that women should never have power over men. I know that kind of belief still exist today, there are more liberal thinking men alive today than before. ISIS is one of group of men who believe women’s role is to be in service to men. I think in Saudi Arabia, women are still for the most part not allowed to drive vehicles. Those few women that do drive, are considered 3rd class citizens. This is what I found on GOOGLE about Queen Mary Stuart’s reason for her execution: "In 1568, Mary escaped from captivity and raised a substantial army but was defeated and fled to England. Queen Elizabeth initially welcomed Mary but was soon forced to put her friend under house arrest after Mary became the focus of various English Catholic and Spanish plots to overthrow Elizabeth. Nineteen years later, in 1586, a major plot to murder Elizabeth was reported, and Mary was brought to trial. She was convicted for complicity and sentenced to death. On February 8, 1587, Mary Queen of Scots was beheaded for treason. Her son, King James VI of Scotland, calmly accepted his mother’s execution, and upon Queen Elizabeth’s death in 1603 he became king of England, Scotland, and Ireland."
Mary Queen of Scots's ending was tragic indeed, but I guess in the end she got the last laugh as every king/queen to take the English throne since has been a decedent of her.
No really Queen Elizabeth knew it her throne was going to James but was ok with it because he believed James less radical. In fact she didn't even want to excute Mary but she tried twice to overthrow her and when the plot to murder her was revealed she had no choice. She was highly upset about it. She kept signing the warrant canceling it signing it and back and forth.
Elizabeth didn't want to get married and was afraid of childbirth (too many women dying at the time).Mary just gave her an heir, and he wasn't a radical Catholic which was perfect. The guy even named his eldest daughter Elizabeth...wouldn't call that a loss. Her line stopped there only because she decided that and James did have Tudor blood so I guess she was ok with that.
I just finished watching this on Netflix 5 minutes ago and cried so hard omg. Her walking towards her execution and realizing that her son wouldn't be coming to her broke my heart, but when I saw Francis waiting for her, I just couldn't hold it in. Then the beautiful montage of moments-!!!! TT_TT
Hey. I finished like six months ago or something and I was looking for some other similar show and I haven't had found one as good as this show. If you found something let me know. This show was the best!!!! T.T
Six years later and I still cry at this ending… Reign is not a show I remember much of, even though I watched every single episode. Even so, I can still so clearly remember my emotions from Mary and Francis’ love.
Knowing from history through the entire series how Mary's life would end, when the screen went black after her execution, I thought that was the final scene. When the next scene began with Francis beside her calling her name it was like a breath of fresh air. Their reunion was the perfect ending - they were young and happy and FREE. Wonderful cast, writing, and directing.
She has loved, and lost. She has cried, and laughed. She has lived and now she’s gone. Back to her lover. I will never forget this show, and I am dedicated to rewatching it
i love that in the end they brought back the memories they had together. i love that throughout the entire show, all seasons, they used the same band. they made everything reminiscent of what we, the viewers, came to love and recognize. the producers brought back scenes that were similar to the mary and francis we had in season one. the runs around the castle grounds, sneaking glances at one another at parties. and though mary had loved others, so many others, it was always francis. she cared for him in a way like no other. her love for him ran deep, deeper than oceans and rivers and she was finally able to express that. christ, how i wish i could have anything to their happiness. my heart is all at once hurt and rejoiced to see them together in the end because, truly, they were just a boy and a girl.
The afterlife scene with Mary and Francis was my favorite!!! I definitely cried during that part. I love that they were united in the end and they got their happy ending together. I'm going to miss this show so much!! ....maybe it's time to rewatch it from the beginning on Netflix, hmm? Although I didn't like how things seemed rushed and James and Greer never properly got together, the Mary and Francis reunion scene was the absolutely perfect ending and made up for the show's faults.
It’s so annoying that she did everything for scotland and was super nice but still died. Wish she could had ended up with Francis and had a family with him. 😩
They had to rush the last season. Even though it's part of history, once Francis died, alot of people suddenly lost interest in the show. When the amount of viewers dropped so did the budget. If people had kept watching it and accepted that the show was following history as best they could, we would've seen Queen Mary's final battle to regain her throne and then fleeing to England and all that happened to her there with Elizabeth.
I think i liked this ending, since we had been following Mary’s life, life is not fair and we don’t get to decide when we die, so we just die, we don’t know what happens to others we just do
I am so happy that she is finally with Francis. She was the most happy with Francis and after his death, everything went downhill. This is the happy ending she deserved
I have been crying for 40 mins after finishing the show and I'm so satisfied. This is the best show I've ever watched and I will NEVER forget Mary and Francis. Thankyou, writers. Thankyou 😭❤️
Absolutely loved this show. Worth-watching. The ending could never have been more than perfect than this, the best ending among all the series. Also loved the idea of combining flashbacks as to how far Queen Mary had come. And when she says to Francis, "It's been so long. It was very very difficult, Francis." , a part inside me broke, she was a true Queen. May all hail her, plus all the actors have done excellent job through out the series.
Watching this ending makes you think about true love, love that transcends time. No matter what, death didnt break the bond she had with Francis. Although its just a tv show i think thats what they wanted us as viewers to see. A love that conquers all, even death
I cried my eyes out when I saw her wake up next to Francis!! Never cried so much in my life. Beautiful ending. Well done. Now that's how you finish a good ass show!
Remember the girl who gave mary a rosary? I think that the rosary Mary is holding until her final breath is that rosary the little girl gave to her. I re watch the show that's why i knew. Mary held that rosary since season 1 ep 1 until season 4 ep 16..... (I'm sorry if my english is wrong) Long may she reign...😔👑
@@gigibadawy5097 1 and 3 Apparently she was caught conspiring murder plot against Elizabeth and Elizabeth had her charged for Treason and kept her in prison for two decades after which she was beheaded. They say that whether Mary was actually guilty for Treason or not isn't true, everyone knew that Elizabeth lived in constant fear and always saw Mary as a threat to her reign so Elizabeth could've easily framed Mary for Treason just to get her out of the way. Once Mary died, James, her heir ruled Scotland and once Elizabeth was dead in the future, James also took over England's throne as Elizabeth did not have an heir.
@@gigibadawy5097 2. Darnley got sick and crazy at the end and threatened Mary that he would take the child away from her forever as he would become the steward of the child. I bawled my eyes out! I haven't cried so much since Francis died :( I'm so glad they got to reunite even if it was in the afterlife. They truly loved each other in regards of everything and that was the greatest thing they had. I binged watched this and I'm having withdrawals
I LOVE how she said Francis, like she can FINALLY breathe again!!!! Though this show ended with her death I'm so happy that it truly ended with Mary reunited with Francis. Two soul mates that are finally together to have an eternity of being in love and just as a boy and just as a girl!!!!!
I was hoping that Frances and Mary would be shown reuniting with all her handmaidens in the afterlife. Especially Ally and Lola who died for her. I wish they had done a whole final episode centering on Mary 21 years after her fall and allowing the audience to know that less than 5 years after his victory over Mary, Knox died of a heart attack after being stripped of power and practically exiled by his former allies. They also could have revealed the final fates of Greer and Kenna.
There is a Reign Wiki page that lists the historical differences and inspirations for characters and situations on the show. Here's the address: reign-cw.wikia.com/wiki/Historical_Differences. One BIG difference is that all four of Queen Mary's handmaidens were named Mary and thus were known famously as the 4 Marys. They were all of French-Scottish descent and were selected by Mary's mother Mary De Guise. Greer and Kenna's Real Life Models were Mary Seton and Mary Beaton. Neither was quite as scandalous as the TV versions but they were even more loyal and their lives were just as dramatic. They both followed Queen Mary into her English captivity until her death. Afterwards, Mary Seton/Greer became a nun and was the head of a convent when she died in 1613. Mary Beaton/Kenna married and had one son before her death in 1598.
I have never seen such a beautiful ending in a tv show. Amazing. It‘s so sad but if you think about her life and how much she had to suffer - now she is free. With Francis. ❤️
francis' smile when she turns to look at him.... omg melts my heart. theyre sooo in love that it makes me cry. also, i noticed when she was doing the sign of the cross before she put her head down, she has a black rosary in her hand. just started rewatching and in the first episode a little girl at the convent gave her a black rosary, could it be the same one?
Bailey Jason. he was raised to believe his mother was a horrible woman and had abandoned her only son. you would of hated her too if the only people you knew your whole life said nothing but mean and untrue things to you. you wouldn't question them either.
Ariel Adler ONLY, the show portrayed him knowing his mother was a good person that loved him. And he loved and cared for her, but there were too many things between them (politics mainly) for him to be able to go. That's what makes this even more sadder (I know it's different in history, but I'm speaking strictly of what the show portrayed)
Bailey Jason. There'd be no point. Elizabeth basically said to him that he could have Mary live but be imprisoned the rest of her life or let her die and her wish to have peace and have England and Scotland reunited become true and him also to become king after her. It was a hard decision but I think if he could have freed her completely then he would have but the options that Elizabeth gave either way weren't good ones. He asked for Mary to be let go but Elizabeth would never let her go. But at least from this option the people would gain something. It was basically a choice between letting Mary live and no one being happy including her or doing something that would benefit many.
He never knew her as a good woman until when she died he figured out who his mother truly was. But Mary’s life was already awful. she missed francis with all her heart. It’s what she would want him to do. Him to rule englad
it's not right! Mary gave EVERYTHING to Elisabeth, she gave up her right of descent and in the end she died anyway! The only good thing was that Francis and Mary got together. For me they are the most beautiful couple in history. Adelaide Kane and Toby Regbo would also look good in reality. The funny things are that Rachel (Elisabeth) and Adelaide (Mary) are best friends and that they chose Adelaide for the reign audition, because she is a descendant of Mary Struard. In my opinion Adelaide was the one who interpreted Queen Mery in the best way. Adelaide is also my idol
Mary struggled so and had a lot of pain while in Scotland and England! When she joined Francis in heaven I felt really happy for her. I still tear up when she turns and sees his face. Such a sweet moment! 💗
I can't believe nobody ever came to rescue her, not even her brother nor her son. That must be devastating, she couldn't even see her son one last time. Saddest ending ever. I wish Adelaine Kane gets more recognition for her acting and appears in more movies or series.
How would her bother have saved her? And I was sad her kid never went to see her, especially when she was dying but I don’t think her brother would be able to save her
@@fangslut I really hoped her half-brother, James would do something to get her out of prison but he couldn't do anything also. So I'm very sad she had to die like that, can't take that.
Toby Regbo and Adelaide Kane you both "hats off" to both . loved it in REIGN when Mary is reunited with Frances in the afterlife. well written.. The Cast was absolutely Awesome.. hope to see you both Toby & Adelaide in another project. good luck in your career ! always a fan...now I,m watching The Last Kingdom.. and Toby Regbo is in it.. also a good one, but it doesn't beat REIGN..
I don't care what anyone says but Mary and Francis are soulmates. Their love was raw and real, they didn't love each other out of loneliness or desperation of clinging to each other. No man after Francis did Mary love truly (even Conde). They were the true lovers, true partners, true King and Queen, husband and wife in all aspects. No other ship in this series topped that. I could not have asked for a better ending than FraRy's reunion. 😭❤️
I love this scene so much because it never fails to move me. I can tear up watching ut after not having seen the show for a while, but Mary’s “it’s been so difficult” always hits me harder after I’ve rewatched the show. Real Mary and CW Mary went through so much. I think it’s fantastically done, and the music makes everything even better
Mary's downfall started when she married Darnley sure there where many obticles and undermining going on but that was the nail on her coffin because he turned out to be more dangerous than everyone else.
I think Brothwell was. He killed Darnely and should have taken the fall for it why did he let this happen to her? (In the show I mean. Bc in history she fucked up by marrying Bothwell)
lexiiEsq I found it peculiar that they even enlisted other people in Darnley’s murder attempt. That’s where they messed up. Shoot. Even kidnapping him and forcing treatment on him would have been better
This scene. This scene will ALWAYS move me. And one of the most realistic scenes I have ever scene in regards to Queens Mary Execution. People wrote that it was one of the worst executions they’d ever seen and that it wasn’t meant for her to die as it took THREE swings to kill her. BUT still, people said she walked to her death with dignity, head held high, and only fearful of God. Even after her very own son did not come for her. She accepted her fate. The guards didn’t even want to be apart of this, but they were forced. What Queen Mary endured is distraughtly one of the worst things in history. History tells us she was beautiful. Elegant. Kind. When she went to French court to assure the alliance with France, King Henry called her “the most perfect child he’d ever seen.” She spent only a short portion of her life with the man she loved, her child, and most of her life running, and imprisoned by her own cousin. I don’t care what anyone says of what “Queen Elizabeth” endured. She was evil. Jealous. If Mary reigned throughout her life, I’m certain Europe would have been different.
the rawness of them being in all white… natural, stripped from the jewels, just them in each-others arms as all they ever wanted was to be away from politics, war, bloodshed… everything abt this ending always has me coming back to it… years later and im back here ughhhhhh so beautifully done!!! FRARY FOR LIFE
can we just talk about a. how happy she looks when she’s with francis b. how beautiful and fitting this song is; the changes from minor to major are everything
what’s sucks is how people complain the show didn’t follow history enough, yet the reason this show ended so damn fast is because a lot of the viewers stopped watching because francis died which was apart of history.
laura Silveria i understand that but it’s not like they could completely ignore the fact that he died.
@laura Silveria I agree. I meant the supposed child Lola had with Francis, not James.
What they stopped because of Francis? I lowkey watched it even more after that.
SGII Prizz did you not like him, that’s interesting. I disagree fully either you but that’s interesting
And just in the end was Francis, just a boy and Mary, just a girl. Both happy and in love

Paula Pinto they were cheating each other Francis cheated on her with Lola
Mary had loved many times, Bash, Conde, Gideon and Bothwell but Francis was her first love and to see her reunited with him in the afterlife was beautiful. They are soulmates and they always will be.
Michaela Caleb umm to be fair she loved bash more than Gideon and Bothwell
Kathryn Orozco what’s that got to do with anything
I thought she only loved Francis, that after she married another man that she didn't love him.
Lana Mirkovic no she did love others but because Francis was her first love she never loved anyone as much as she loved him
She was just a girl al the first, so i think she didn’t know what is love. She didn’t love all of this man, only Francis. (Of cause i’m talking about the serie and not a out the story)
When Francis says her name and she opens her eyes I started crying.

Mary:"Is this real?"
Francis:"Nothing is more real."
I think that just says it all. Nothing was ever as real as their love.

@@NiamhCullen that would have been amazing to see!
That pretty much sums it up!" xD
The montage at the end was so beautiful though, so the makers of the series get at least some points from that.
Y'all realize this show was cancelled due to poor ratings, right? It wasn't the directors fault the ending was rushed...
angryhijabi Poor ratings ? No way are you serious....? If that was the case then they would have never made it to Four Seasons

I like that she was finally given peace. All the hell she'd had to endure her entire life finally ended and she was reunited with her love.
Actually, i'm not. First, i expected it, second her life after Francis died was a torture, more and more bad people came into her life and ruined her, then she was captured for so long. She finally got peace, but i'm not saying that any tears did not fall down, it did.
If you know anything about true love. You’re soulmate is always waiting for you on the other side.

Its Holy Rosary beads. Its used during prayer.
@Shonali Akhter Because that's how it's been in history. Mary dies at 44, beheaded. And because of her young age and the courage with which she faced her death, she is remained like perhaps the most tragic monarch in history.
Omg i never realized that! Thank you 🤯❤️
@Shonali Akhter She was executed because Elizabeth I feared that Mary would end up taking her throne.
She's actually not she thought she descendent from the house of Stuart's but she was wrong. Look it up
It is not uncommon to be a descendant of a British monarch if you are British.
Elizabeth won the battle. Mary won the war.
Not really. She lost her son when he was a baby and hadn't seen him since. He didn't care much that she was beheaded and made all the efforts to please Elizabeth so that she'll make him her heir (in real life not the show)
... Is that winning??? She lost her country, her son and the men she loved. made mistakes and paid
Haley O'Brien exactly
Haley O'Brien yeah but Elizabeth rules history
But everyone remembers Mary Queen I of Scots, especially in Scotland.
Her descendants became Protestant they betrayed her faith but followed Elizabeth they depict her as a hero but Mary is cast aside.

Why did she get executed I’m still on season 1..
@Ari Grande basically her cousin the queen of England had her executed
Also Mary's son King James the first is the same King James that translated the bible that many still use today.
I don’t know how they did it but somehow Reign managed to have an ending that broke my heart and warmed it at the same time. It takes true talent to pull something like that off and that is one of the many reasons why Reign is the greatest piece of TV art ever created!
There are very few shows that can bring me to tears every single time I watch them. Reign has done it several times.
You really think it's the greatest??
Its lovely that she got to reunite with Francis forever.
this is beautiful
King Darnley? LMFAO. He was King in name only. He had no actual power, and Mary was sick of him right around the 6 month mark of their marriage. Does anyone know the actual history of this woman or????

In real life Mary went on to marry her cousin later in life and didn't look to the past. the show romantisized her and francis relationship more than it was in history it says she probably didn't mourn as bad as the show showed her and moved on quickly
Sad part is that after Mary was beheaded…she wanted to be buried with Francis in real life but they didn’t do that, Instead they buried her in the United Kingdom and they kept Francis in France….love just like Romeo and Juliet…star crossed lovers that were never meant to be in their lifetime but maybe in another

Read up on the true execution and you won't believe how horrifically cruel it was. Poor Mary.
I think the emotional scene which shows Mary reunited with Francis, is actually based on a poem Mary wrote dedicated to Francis: If I am at rest, sleeping on my couch, I hear him speak to me. I can feel his touch. In my work, as I receive. He is always near me.
Wow! I had no idea. Oh that’s so beautiful. 😫💕

"In my end is my beginning." -Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots.
19EHF if only elizabeth tudor had children herself.
+19EHF Yeah but her own son disowned her mother.

The L Word Fans Center why did she died?
This is what I found on GOOGLE about Queen Mary Stuart’s reason for her execution:
"In 1568, Mary escaped from captivity and raised a substantial army but was defeated and fled to England.

Indeed, Her Gracious Britannic Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is 10th Great Granddaughter of Mary Queen of Scots
No really Queen Elizabeth knew it her throne was going to James but was ok with it because he believed James less radical. Wonderful cast, writing, and directing.
I stopped watching this show when Francis died. I just didn't have the heart to continue. I'm happy they found each other in the end.

Me tooooo.. Gosh

She has loved, and lost. She has cried, and laughed. She has lived and now she’s gone. Back to her lover. I will never forget this show, and I am dedicated to rewatching it
I love how this proves that Mary kept Francis in her heart after all those years and how he was her one and only true love. So beautiful
Francis’s face when Mary tells him that it seems as it been long ago. He realized and knew the pain she had to go.
i love that in the end they brought back the memories they had together. i love that throughout the entire show, all seasons, they used the same band. they made everything reminiscent of what we, the viewers, came to love and recognize. the producers brought back scenes that were similar to the mary and francis we had in season one. the runs around the castle grounds, sneaking glances at one another at parties. and though mary had loved others, so many others, it was always francis. she cared for him in a way like no other. her love for him ran deep, deeper than oceans and rivers and she was finally able to express that. christ, how i wish i could have anything to their happiness. my heart is all at once hurt and rejoiced to see them together in the end because, truly, they were just a boy and a girl.
Leann Beckman. I cry every time I see this part 😭 Francis always protected her, he is so lovely!😍
After 21 years he waited for her thats true love right there I SHIP YOU GUYS I SHIP YOU!!!😥😥😢
💔 I wasn't prepared for this...i knew it was coming but still omg
Jamal O'Brien i don't think anyone was 😣😣
Jamal O'Brien it's the reason it took me a week before finally watching the remaining few episodes of season 4 ;(
@@Itsdenice1018 well actually anyone who knows history would have been prepared for her death.
“I’ve been waiting for you”, my heart 🥺😭
whats the song playing in the background when he said that ,can't find it anywhere;((
@@jullescooles8685 I think it's called ' my eyes' by the lumierres (don't know how to type it)
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
It’s so annoying that she did everything for scotland and was super nice but still died. Wish she could had ended up with Francis and had a family with him. 😩
IKR:(
she was such a kind queen who didn't deserve such cruelty. this is so sad omg
Yea but they had to end the show with her dying because she was executed for treason which is BS since she didn't live in the country
Everything in the finale was so rushed, like what ever happened to Greer, Catherine, James, Charles, Claude and even Bash who never returned?
Michaela Caleb For real like there are other characters I want to know what happened.
And jenna :(
Michaela Caleb or Kenna, she just disappeared
I think i liked this ending, since we had been following Mary’s life, life is not fair and we don’t get to decide when we die, so we just die, we don’t know what happens to others we just do
Couldn't have asked for a better ending😍😭👏
i could, she survives and lives and becomes queen of scotland and england
alejandro martinez I mean her son becomes king of England (he's not the best king granted) which sorta makes it better
That'd be really bad.... Mary was never a very good queen, Elizabeth was skilled and did England a lot of good.
Right right.👍👍
Watching this ending makes you think about true love, love that transcends time.
(I'm sorry if my english is wrong)
Long may she reign...😔👑
They’re just traditional catholic rosemary beads. They all look the same lmao
idk why i even decided to rewatch the ending- my pillow case is SOAKED
I ABOUT TO REWATCH ALL
You are not alone 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
This show crushes your feelings but Gives hope at the end .. You will rest in arms of your true love someday after everything you faced
Can you explain the ending? Like why was Mary beheaded? What happened about the murder of Darnley? Why was Mary sent to execution by Elizabeth?
Mary was afraid that Darnley would harm their child and also take him away from her forever. So Mary as a desperate and protective mother did what had to be done, she ordered Lord Bothwell to kill Darnley which was exactly what happened.
MrReded69 do you mind sharing what were the final fates of Greer and Kenna? It sounds interesting
Thank you!
This ending killed me.
You mean Ayla*
I cried at the ending, but was hoping they would have shown their baby in the after life with them too. That would have been so beautiful
I‘m so happy she found peace with Francis...
I have never seen such a beautiful ending in a tv show. Amazing. It‘s so sad but if you think about her life and how much she had to suffer - now she is free. With Francis. ❤️
francis' smile when she turns to look at him.... omg melts my heart. theyre sooo in love that it makes me cry. also, i noticed when she was doing the sign of the cross before she put her head down, she has a black rosary in her hand. just started rewatching and in the first episode a little girl at the convent gave her a black rosary, could it be the same one?
her own son didnt come to save her .. ugh how sad 😭😭😭😭

(I CANT BELIEVE THIS WAS 3 YEARS AGO )
Cuz according to history he'll be king of England and Scotland so he cannot save her unless this is Outlander and they planned to change history
He never knew her as a good woman until when she died he figured out who his mother truly was. But Mary’s life was already awful. she missed francis with all her heart. It’s what she would want him to do. Him to rule englad
I cried so much at 4 am when I finished this show.
Me too.. there is no words to explain
it's not right!
God save the Queen.
his first smile at her after all this time and turmoil.... I cried too much.
I'm glad she found piece but it hurts me to know that she was a prisoner for 20 years & couldn't see his son ever again..
The song made me cry even more perfect for the ending
whats the name of the song
Veronica Anyanwu the lumineers - my eyes
@@nou174 do you also happen to know what the piece played on cello is called?
@@laura-sandy1492 Omg I've been wondering that too!
“I’ve been waiting for you.” 😭😭😭😭😭😭 MY FREAKING HEART!!!!! I’m literally bawling my eyes out.
At least they kept the ending pure with history on how she died.
💗 same feelings!
❤❤❤👏👏👏👏
I agree 100%❤❤❤
Shoot. Even kidnapping him and forcing treatment on him would have been better
they should have showed the reaction from when Katherine and her brother and other found out she was beheaded
jasmine rozae Catherine was dead when queen Mary was executed
nazih bouklikha Catherine was killed two years after Mary I believe
Alliyah Lim do you know the soundtrack when Francis appears?
nazih bouklikha the song is "my eyes"- the Lumineers
@@nazihbouklikha6098 Catherine out lived everyone including Charles and Henry. I think in history she killed them both
Jealous. If Mary reigned throughout her life, I’m certain Europe would have been different.
the rawness of them being in all white… natural, stripped from the jewels, just them in each-others arms as all they ever wanted was to be away from politics, war, bloodshed…
everything abt this ending always has me coming back to it… years later and im back here ughhhhhh so beautifully done!!! FRARY FOR LIFE
It’s 2019 and I’m still crying 😭
This is one of the most beautiful yet sad endings I’ve ever seen ❤️😭😭
This ending make realize that you will always love your first and truly love in the end.
I'm a bit mad because they left all the other characters on a cliff hanger
But you can read the history of the others non-fictional characters
can we just talk about
a. how happy she looks when she’s with francis
b. how beautiful and fitting this song is; the changes from minor to major are everything
She looks so happy and at peace!
Omg this made me cry for Francis all over again but this time it's happy tears as there together again
