I think he would've held her at a higher esteem because she gave him a son. In his eyes any woman who couldn't provide him with a male heir was worthless. That was all he wanted.
@@Im_so_Retro85I agree that he held her in high esteem because she gave him a son. It wouldn’t have stopped him from womanizing though. She would have been smart enough to turn a blind eye to it, as Katherine did. I really think he loved Katherine. Had their son not died, we wouldn’t have seen wives 2-6. His obsession with a male heir reigned supreme in his head.
She married him 11 days after he had his previous wife beheaded. He had his daughters made illegitimate for her son. She was an opportunist without a conscience.
Jane Seymour did try to encourage Henry to reconcile with his two daughters. He harshly resisted and she let the matter drop. By God, I think Jane's life was forfeit because of they way he did both Cathrine and Anne. Historians think she passed due to poor hygiene during her extended time in labor. It might have been sepsis. Women can still die from that illness even nowadays. However his final wife Cathrine Parr, succeeded in placing Mary and Elizabeth back in the line of succession.
Postpartum infection seems to have killed Catherine Parr as well. It was fairly common until modern antibiotics, and as you say, still kills women occasionally, especially in places without modern healthcare.
It was poor hygiene everywhere since they didn't have bleach, disinfectants and antibiotics and they didn't know how to naturally kill the viruses and microbes.
@deborahbutcher3933 Apparently production thought viewers would mix up Henry's sister Mary with his daughter Mary. They must have thought we are all idiots!
The king had enough of smart and opinionated queens, here he just wanted an obedient broodmare. She literally had nothing else to offer, no wealth and status like Catherine of Aragon, no wits and intellectual stimulation like Anne Boleyn.
Although, Jane was beautiful, even historically, I'm assuming that since she was presented at his court by her brother and father, she must fit some beauty standards of that time. And she was kind, loudly obvious by her welcome-ness towards his daughters, and she was also innocent to love and trust such a man who already caused the death of his first wife and killed the other. Jane truly was just a pretty and convenient broodmare to him. Not that she didn't have a personality but he definitely didn't need her personality nor did she show one. There she might have been smart not to intimidate him. But what good is there if you have to suppress yourself to make a man happy who has delusional expectations from his wife.
I couldnt stand this horrible, arrogant, cruel king! If Jane would have lived longer im pretty sure he would have gotten rid of her in some way to move on with another woman!

The scene where he says he's disappointed because she's not expecting a child and looking at her maid... That's weird. Was he already thinking to replace her?
He was already having an affair and some historians believe Henry planned to replace Jane. She became his 'saint' and was the only royal wife to be buried as the queen only after delivering the boy, even though Jane was not crowned yet.
@@raquellopezalvarez2001The real Jane really didn't spend time with Elizabeth. Elizabeth nor Mary was at court. Oh I see, so he did love Jane Seymour because she wasn't just obedient, loyal, simple, kind, mature & beautiful. She's blinded or turns blind eye to Henry's massive red flags. And he did love her even more when she became pregnant like he knows this time they'll have a boy. And when she did have a boy, she dies few days later so of course many Historians believed Henry true love was Jane Seymour. When in truth, he changes his Queen or wives or mistress so rapidly. I believe he loved his 1st 3 wives then after the 3rd wife's untimely demise, he hadn't had time to fall out love & affections for her so he just couldn't love anyone anymore. Poetic justice at best.
He loved the fact that she gave birth to a boy. Remember his warning to her? If he actually loved her, he wouldn't have tried to scare and silence her like this. If she knew he loved her, she would have actually stood her ground because then, she wouldn't have been afraid..

Not that historically accurate, in fairness.
