    It does come from childhood trauma but not necessarily from the mother / child relationship. Most people repeat the pattern of their parents relationship to some degree.

      Yes, but our direct reaction to a partner is from mother/child bond. My dad died when I was 5, and this describes me to the teeth

      @@KR_11117 Have a look at Imago theory by Harville Hendrix. You can be attracted to someone like either parent. If you had a good Mum and problematic father, you are more likely to be attracted to people like your father. The mother / child relationship is crucial as the first two trauma periods are primarily driven by the mother however I had post natal depression which if it fell completely on me my son would have a lot of dependency wounding. He hasn't because his father picked up the slack and he was still well parented in that period.

      Let's not forget generational epigenetics, a short moment of impregnation, 9 months pregnancy, the trauma of leaving the warm body of your mother to see weird creatures, bright light around you and then... Get insulted for learning to live...
