"4/10, some people say I don't know much about hockey" 😂 you know he's been told that exact line by someone in his org before
Inspiring all sorts of confidence here
It's likely every other comment he reads on Twitter.
People who are usually true experts on stuff, are aware they no nothing 😂😂. Or there’s so much more they can learn. Ask a real tech expert how much they know about computers, or a literal physicist how much they know about physics. They’ll usually say 4…5…7 at most? Because they’ve been humbled so many times in life.
I disagree - that was a line.
@@deadprecidents True! Dunning Kruger effect.
Reminds me of the British inteview when they stopped an old man to ask him if he remembers a super old town derby match, and he said "Yes, I was the goalie" xD
Yup - Tommy Lawrence who played in goal for Liverpool.
More than just a derby match in this case - the F.A. cup final was (and still is) pretty much the single biggest domestic match in English football, and that year it happened to be between two of the biggest local rivals in the country. It was the (very rough) equivalent of an interviewer 50 years from now bumping into Travis Kelce and asking if he remembered where he was for Superbowl LIV!
Also this happened to Adrian Peterson who will be a HOF RB.
Yeah RIP to that guy
That's one of my favorite RUclips videos
To be fair, who expects an NHL GM to be walking around like any downtown sports bro? Guy looks like he’s on his way to catch the Cubs at Wrigley. 😂
Your point stands, but this is Nashville for the draft. The interviewer asked slightly off-mic "have you ever been to Nashville before" and you can clearly see a Honky Tonk sign behind them. This looks like Broadway.
Crazy people stalk and wait for people’s daily routines. He knew what he was doing
@@sixsix8six I realize that. But he looks specifically like he's heading to a baseball game to me. Probably because it's daytime in the summer.
He's clearly on Broadway in Nashville
I would’ve loved it if he name dropped Connor Bedard before the draft. Good coy answers to the last two questions. Didn’t want to get fined by the NHL.
As someone who interviews people fairly regularly, never trust anyone that comfortable on camera haha
Hahaha, very well said
very good point
That's a good point, very few people can speak like that in front of a camera/
Why?
@@spf556fr, people underestimate the need for media training
The poker face you need from your GM.
Until the end haha. Little tip to the camera
“One change you could make to the NHL”
“Fire the Blackhawks GM”
More like "Give the Blackhawks GM a raise."
Was thinking both of these the entire time 😂
"some people say i dont know that much." lmfaooo what a legend.
That part killed me. 😂
Love that Davidson just deadpaned it and played along😂
Until the little nod at the end with “very confident”.
Apparently he originally declined to be interviewed but came back after a while cause he though it would be funny and he was right.
The point where he starts slowly naming the most famous hockey players and then just starts rapid firing his players 🤣
Lol
Your gullible to think this is real.
The look Davidson gives at the end... priceless...
He clearly knew somebody online could eventually figure out who he is
If it was rigged, I’d be one of the guys to know about it
He jimmied the camera
That look after he said “I’m very confident” 🤣🤣
At that point, he should have said that he was in the room when they drew the balls and it’s definitely not rigged… wonder if buddy would have clued in at that time
Young dude for a GM, hilarious how he rolled with it
It was set up....
@@fleckinz5789 Yeah probably. But I'll let you in on a secret.

he can't say it out loud like that

I like how he starts with Gretsky because he is just a sports bro on the street.
Definitely the best one to start with if that was a "tactic". I know damn near nothing about hockey -- but I know Gretsky.
I knew the first 2 names and none of the others.
@@mantisfootball918they’re all from the late 2000s/early 2010s Chicago blackhawks, it was a very good team
The direct to camera "I'm very confident". 💀
Taylor Hall & Nick Foligno 😂 the guys I just acquired
And as a Bruins fan, it breaks my heart. Freaking salary cap. But I want Hall and Foligno to have every opportunity. They are great players and Chicago is paying them more than the Bruins could. So good for them.
LOL this is great... When asking about one change he would make, I was waiting for him to say "I think the Blackhawks should get a new GM, the current one is bad"
I was waiting for him to say that GMs needed to get paid more.
Amazing how he kept his cool, played it down very well. Amazing that this happened!
Yeah, especially the part where he lied about the draft being rigged.
@moappleseider1699 Yeah. Reporter should be fired for alluding that draft was rigged. What your dumba.s ment to say the part where he lied about draft not being rigged. Trying to be smart and make a complete f..ng moron out of yourself.
@moappleseider1669 💀
He did the classic Jim stare to the camera from the office at 1:38
I want to see where the interviewer realizes what just happened
Probably when people started reposting the interview lol
Bro... thats freaking hilarious. You can tell hes a chill dude
lmao ! how does he keep a straight face ?!
He's the GM the Blackhawks need today and for the future. I was just looking at a pic of my family in the 1970s gathered behind an autograph signing table at a northern Illinois appliance store flanked by Bobby Hull and (my favorite while growing up) Stan Makita. Still a fan after fifty years!
That's pretty awesome. I'm glad you still have the pic, what a great memory.
I use makita tools. Very reliable.
Part of the cover up. :)
All kidding aside, love that he did this interview so flawlessly. Respect.
Can you explain the rigged-ness accusation / conspiracy? I'm from Europe and hadn't heard.
@@YesOkayButWhy Chicago is a big market big city in the USA and they conveniently win the draft lottery for a generational talent over the worst teams in hockey in small markets
NHL clearly wants this talent in a big market with a historical hockey organization not a small market with no history even if they're the worst team so should have the top pick

Ahhh. I get you. One more question. How long has this (seemed to have) been the case? 20 years? Since early 20th century?
Thanks so much.

Don’t have any interest or knowledge in hockey, but may have to start watching the Blackhawks. GM seems like a great guy 😂
Would’ve been great if he said: “Yes, it was definitely rigged!”
he would have been fired on the spot
That knowing look/grin at the end - awesome

I went to high school with him (the GM not the clueless interviewer). I believe him if he says it wasn't rigged for them to win. I'm also glad they did cuz the Ducks didn't get Bedard LOL

The weird thing is: the more that you actually know about something, is also the more that you realize how little that you know. Meanwhile, some other guy might say that he knows 9 out of 10 about hockey when in reality, he really knows 0.5 out of 10
i thought the same thing!! they call it the dunning-kruger effect
The dunning kruger effect! I have a 16 year old brother who knows a little about a load of subjects (Internet kids eh?) But thinks he knows everything about them, because he doesn't know how little he knows
The irony being most people only have a surface-level understanding of Dunning-Kruger.😉
@@FentonWenge you only know a little about people's understanding of the dunning-kruger effect ;)

the fact he said dave (David) Bolland makes me so happy, i went to school with that guy. its likely cause David was on the hawks when they won the cup. Reilly Smith, Brendan Smith, Brendan Shanahan, we all went to the same school as kids (just different ages).

Really? He took the team from having the worst prospect pool in the league to top 5 in a year.
And that's without Bedard.
They have 5 first round picks the next two years or so and something like 8 seconds in the next couple of years.
They had ZERO first rounders last year and ended up with THREE.

What would have been an actual tragedy was if he'd have gone to the toxic landfill that is Arizona to waste away as they continue trading everyone away to "rebuild" every season. That decades long rebuild will surely be done any day now.
Yep, better that he goes to Chicago and has a legit chance of getting S#xually Assulted by the staff.
