Yeah honestly a massive fumble by Bardown. Not sure what TSN was doing waiting 5 years to give them a separate channel and then losing their top talent.
Based on his last statement tho, corwin said he saw this as a once in a life time opportunity, and something of a passion project, so not necessarily a fumble by bardown @@Andy-qq7qy
He specified the ECHL Roadrunners, when they are currently the Tuscon Roadrunners in the AHL. That's what made me think he was the pro. He didn't JUST say the team, but specified that it was the ECHL era of the team.
The Langley Hornets relocated to West Kelowna to become the Westside Warriors in ‘06, one domino in a big junior hockey shuffle that year in BC. Chilliwack gets the WHL Bruins, forcing the Chilliwack Chiefs to move to nearby Langley and keeping the Chiefs name. The Hornets move to West-K. In 2011 the Bruins leave for Victoria to become the WHL Royals, the Quesnel Millionaires are sold to Chilliwack to become the new Chilliwack Chiefs, so the Langley Chiefs have to rebrand to the Rivermen to give Chilliwack their name/history back.
Corwin suddenly appearing on a Bauer Hockey video. A Bauer Hockey video getting 10x the average number of views. These things seem related. Super savvy move getting this guy to host (and maybe come up with?) content. I have never seen a Bauer hockey video appear in my feed until now. Of all the media stuff done with players in the lead up to this season, this is far and away my favourite (coming from a hater of the Bruins).
thought McAvoy did a great job and enjoyed how challenging he found it, different to your typical nhl promo videos. Would love to see more of these for sure !
The Langley Rivermen are a junior ice hockey team based in Langley, British Columbia, Canada. They are members of the Coastal Division of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). History The BCHL franchise was founded as the Richmond Sockeyes in 1972 in the Pacific Junior A Hockey League. In 1990, Sockeyes dropped to the junior B level and sold the junior A franchise to become the Chilliwack Chiefs. In 2006, the Chilliwack Bruins of the Western Hockey League were founded and the Chiefs moved to become the Langley Chiefs. In 2011, the Chiefs changed ownership and became the Langley Rivermen, allowing for the return of the Chiefs to Chilliwack.[1][2]
2 of mine would be name your youth AAA team & name the most famous player you played with/against, you'd get alot of info from those. Great video & love McAvoy 👍👍👍
Love this content, love Corwin and Charlie (go bruins baby), I think you just need to let more questions fly and get some more guys on. More questions and contestants would make more of a challenge for y’all and the viewers, plus you picked a BU player he’s gotta be pretty smart 🤣
Ngl VP got me with the team cars detail for the DHL, tho when he was stick handling and mentioned the glass/dump and chase again I had second thought. I thought the vets at the back of the bus was too obvious tho and overthought the pro, even tho he was my #2 candidate 😂
First minor red flag with the Germany player was when he took forever to finally realize that long distances required a bus. The second red flag, which was a major one is he immediately give an excuse before he started stick handling and he was nervous AF when he heard he would have to show what he can do.
I like the concept here. I think it could be fleshed out and executed better. Having a panel instead of just Corwin and a Pro to bounce off of would help. I also think trying to have the contestants try and show off skills, such as giving and recieving a pass, taking a shot.. etc. Honestly if the video could be done on a rink that would be cool.
idk about all that. having too many levels might end up making it too easy. like two of them played highschool hockey as their peak, and the other one stopped playing at 14. I feel like if they were on ice, watching them skate, it would literally be a give in who the ex pro was.
The DEL player saying he didn't really ride the bus felt like a giveaway. It's common in European pro leagues to ride in a team bus to a lot of the away games.
Also I played for the sharks. It's Köln, not Cologne. Nobody who ever lived there would pronounce it like that because that's not the name of the city or the team.
If you’re gonna do this format then you gotta at least do it like the NBA/NFL ones do!! Have them be a CURRENT NHLer and come out in that black suit with their face covered & everything and allow more than just 6 questions so the NHLer on the panel will be that much more into it cause he’ll clearly know the guy so he wants to get it right. It’ll be SO much funnier and better than just having it be all Bauer staff that Corwin obviously knows aren’t pros against an ECHL guy. This format has such great potential if you do it properly! Obviously nothing is ever gonna be perfect on the first try but it’s just room to grow for next time. The black anonymity morphsuits make it fun too cause then even the host doesn’t know who’s who
What I will say, before finding out who it was, some ECHL teams hold open tryouts. The guy who played for Valley could have gone from there to the ECHL
McAvoy is one of the few hockey players capable of speaking normally in front of a camera😂

Great video! McAvoy seemed to be really into it, which isn't always the case with this extra curricular stuff. Corwin is the man for the job for sure.
I knew the second guy that got eliminated was the pro player because when he walked off he had the gait of a man who needs a hip replacement
This! 😂
That left hip lmao I'm glad I wasn't the only one that thought it
Exactly what I thought lol. that dude took some hits
They should have had them do the Shoresy walk.

Believe it or not, its Tucson
It caught my attention too when he said it, but I didn’t make that connection. Good catch!
this is was great - big shouts to the VP of Product who is a broomball player
This! Amazing sport.
Yooo PLEASE give us more of these. This is solid hockey content.
Corwin was the best hire possible for them. Such an enjoyable person to watch on content

Justin Aikins, for anyone wondering
According to his DB he played a few games in the AHL too! Guy shorted himself saying “just the ECHL”😆

Hockey players walk a specific way if you haven't seen it before you likely wouldn't notice it at first glance
Quick tip, judge by legs, usually hockey players will forever have bigger quads then the average person if they played for a while
