In 2008, rain in 10 minutes meant rain in 10 minutes. Today, rain in 10 minutes means rain 10 minutes after the race.
Rain has almost become extinct in present day F1 races.
I'm pretty sure back in the day they actually employed people to be weather watchers around the area, where as today its all computer based.

Glock, on dry tires, being overtaken by Hamilton on a wet track reminds me of Norris's heartbreak in Sochi!
The difference is that dry tires these days are slip tires and the tires before give a bit more grip on slippery conditions.

Masi just destroyed the integrity of F1 as a sport. He manipulated the race by breaking the rules twice and handed the title to Max. Shambolic farce at the end of the 2021 season! Glad he was fired- but Hamilton is the rightful 8 time world champion right now. Max is an illegitimate winner. It's such a disgrace, the rules need to ALWAYS be followed- and the race director decided NOT to.

He still did it. A 7 time champ couln't hold him back? And not to mention he was shunted out of two races in a row by Merc drivers when he would have easily won both. SO yea. Max took the win and the title in an inferior car against all odds. KARMA ;)

@@Josh_17 well no. Hamilton was ahed of glock before the Pitstop the only reason it was close was because Toyota didn't put glock. Bear in mind because he didn't pit he still gained 3 places on other drivers overall. So no Toyota couldn't pit him and they definitely did not hand Hamilton the trophy

But I think that Hungary 2009 had a pretty decent (edit: not "decent" but "hard" or "harsh"; wrong word) effect on his performance.
It was a pity to see him struggling.

The sad thing about it all is that this was undoubtedly Massa's best race he ever had. Absolutely flawless but he lost out in the cruelest way.

He REALLY should have been the champion. FIA knew about crashgate during the season but decided to keep quiet about it on purpose instead of excluding the Singapore results from the championship.

Everyone is saying the 2021 finale was more dramatic, but it felt a little orchestrated. The 2008 ending was natural and even confusing the first time I watched it. 2021 was great and exciting, but as someone who watched both live, 2021 doesn't hold a candle to 2008

Massi's indecision is what made the ending bad. Had he decided early on to let the lapped cars unlap themselves or no unlapping at all, it would have been a lot less controversial.
Would Hamilton have won without the unlapping? I think he would have, but we don't know for sure as Max had fresh tires

If Hamilton were to pit for fresh softs, max would have stayed out ahead under the safety car and if procedures were followed correctly, max wins the race.
The only way Hamilton could have stopped was if the gap was big enough, and Perez underfueling his car stopped that earlier in the race by holding him up.

Red bull decided to take a risk and pit Max thinking that they would have racing laps left, and they were right.
