It was 2006. I was watching MTV Brazil and this video started playing. I was 12 years old and was completely hypnotized by the song and the video. I didn't have a way to record the video and forgot to get the name of the band, so I soon forgot it. Cut to 2008, 14 years old. First time Interpol came to play here. MTV Brazil makes massive advertising about the gig. The song in the commercial was "No I In Threesome". Again, completely hypnotized. Decided to look up the band on the internet, and remembered that it was the same band I listened all those years ago. Then, it became my favorite band of all time. Unfortunately I was never able to see them live, even though they came a few times to South America. One day, I will. UPDATE: IT'S HAPPENING! JUST BOUGHT MY TICKETS AND I'M GONNA SEE THEM, TWO TIMES! UPDATE 2: It finally happened. Saw them 2 times now and I couldn't be happier. I feel my life is complete. Thank you all for liking this and sharing your stories as well!

Mano, a tua história aí é quase igual a minha. Mas eu baixei um cd de músicas Indie no mule em 2006 e tinha três música do Interpol obstacle 1, Narc e Evil. Interpol é minha banda preferida da vida também. Radiohead é outra que amo demais.
Yeah, I had to go see them live five times just to soak it in. I've seen hundreds of shows, but the 1st time I saw Interpol I would put them in my top five. Carlos had some girl in the audience screaming to suck his D. Of course, they were later seen going off to the bus together. What sucks is I had the opportunity to hang out with the band after the show, but my ride had to be at work in the morning and we were 2 hrs away so taxi no dice. Yeah, not the same without Carlos and his insane bass moves.

I have just discovered this song from a book called Dopamine Nation by Dr. Anna Lembke. In it, a patient of her's was about to commit suicide and this was to be his last song as he faded away. Chris wrote a parting e-mail to his mother: “Ma, I wore clean underwear.” He borrowed a knife, took his CD player and a carefully selected CD, and made his way to Roble Field. It was dusk, and his plan was to swallow a bottle of pills, cut his wrists, and time his death with the setting sun. Music was important to Chris, and he chose his final song with care: “PDA” by Interpol, a New York indie post-punk revival band. “PDA” is rhythmic and pounding. The lyrics are hard to make out. The last stanza goes like this: “Sleep tonight, sleep tonight, sleep tonight, sleep tonight. Something to say, something to do, nothing to say, there’s nothing to do.” Chris waited till the very end of the song, then pulled the sharp edge of the knife across each wrist.

Yours is the only version of my desertion that I could ever subscribe to
That is all that I can do
You are a past dinner, the last winner, I'm raking all around me
Until the last drop is behind you
You're so cute when you're frustrated, dear
Well, you're so cute when you're sedated, dear
I'm resting
Sleep tight, grim rite
We have two hundred couches where you can sleep tight, grim rite
We have two hundred couches where you can sleep tight, grim rite
We have two hundred couches where you can sleep tonight
Sleep tonight, sleep tonight
Sleep tonight
You are the only person who's completely certain there's nothing here to be into
That is all that you can do
You are a past sinner, the last winner and everything we've come to
It makes you, you
You cannot safely say while I will be away
That you will not consider sadly
How you helped me to stray
You will not reach me I am
Resenting a position that's fast resentment
And now I can consider now there is this distance so
Sleep tight, grim rite
We have two hundred couches where you can sleep tight, grim rite
We have two hundred couches where you can sleep tight, grim rite
We have two hundred couches where you can sleep tonight
Sleep tonight, sleep tonight
Sleep tonight
Something to say
