Thank you guys so much for your support!! I really appreciate all of the positivity. Wanted to post that my ring sling is from hope and plum in the print flor, since do many of you asked.
@@iamwhoyousayiam6773 Yeah I definitely can't see them treating a lay person so well. Definitely isn't the experience of any women I've ever talked to. Also I think it's because she believes in western medicine so was willing to do all the things so there was no push back. Only kick back! Haha.
I am currently 7 wks today after trying for 23 months to conceive. I was fertility medication for 6 months after being diagnosed with PCOS at age 29. I was absolutely devastated. Baby #2 is due April 2022. I had an epidural with my 1st but I really. Really, really want to do it unmedicated. I am scared but I know I can do it. I watch videos like this to help me feel more confident
When I was in early labor at home, one of my cats came up to me during a contraction, whilst I was on my hands and knees, put his paw in my one of my hands, and clinched it firmly. Later, whilst standing up holding my wardrobe during a contraction for support, the same cat stood between me and the wardrobe, looked up to me and said, “mew”! For much of my labor - until I went to the hospital - my cat was my doula, lol! Cats are so intuitive, ma shah Allah!
“I can do anything for 60 seconds” is very true. I knew I’d have a long labour and told myself that “I can do anything for one day.” Turns out I can do anything, without an epidural, even for 76 hours! And it was a beautiful, intense, and positive birth for me and I could see my experience in yours. Thank you.
😳😬 I was the opposite, I decided on an epidural as soon as I saw a second line on the pregnancy test. 😂 This is one of the best birth stories I’ve watched!
I told my husband before hand " I may try to cave, don't let me because I'll be upset worth myself." He made sure I got the birth I wanted and I'm so grateful. So many channels have given this advice but my goodness is it tempting 😂
@@dreamsscream … so tempting! I had several people that helped me, but towards the end that internal mantra would have been a lot better than “I’m not sure i can make it” 😅
The way you told your story, details you included, and way you explained everything was amazing. I think this is my favorite birth story video! When I was pregnant with my first baby this is exactly the kind of video that would have helped me feel more confident and mentally prepared for the experiences I may have. Congratulations! She is beautiful!!
@@Nurse_zabe It's very helpful to hear a midwives perspective on her own birth experience and her decisions, especially from you. Did your own experience also help in your professional life? I think it may be quite complicated to fill the books with all the details a woman experiences through childbirth.
Planning my first birth that will happen this spring! This was such an amazing story to hear. Thank you for sharing ❤ I was wondering at what point did you get IV? Seemed like you were tethered to a bed or iv pole because of it. Thanks!
My doula kept saying to me during contractions “you’re climbing the ladder...One step at a time. .. now you are at the top pf the ladder, now you are sliding down. Deep breath. Let that contraction go.” That helped me soooo much!
I'm glad that worked for you- I'm just not that kind of person lol. No amount of positive words or mantras was going to fix that pain. I'm amazed at people who can manage it with that.
I love this! I went into labor not having a birth plan, but knowing me I knew I wanted to give birth with no medication if I could bare it. I shared this with my nurse who was my angel that day. Even at my worst moments where I told her I wanted an epidural she kept encouraging me and telling me how close I was and how amazing I was doing. I am a first time mom and my labor was 8 hours total with 1.5 of pushing, and our baby boy was born. I hope I can have the same experience next time. It felt so incredible. It made me feel like I could truly get through anything after that, and how our bodies are beautifully designed for this. The best part was being able to shower shortly after!
Your photographer did a great job, all the pictures you shared are incredible and moving! I'm so happy you have a beautiful healthy little girl. Congratulations!
With my first, I wanted an unmedicated birth and I prepared mentally and physically for months. The first thing the overnight nurse told me when I came in was that I was too weak and I'd be getting an epidural before the end of the night. That set the tone and threw off my entire mental game. She was so rude and seemed so annoyed that I was moving around to endure contractions, and didn't know anything about any of the birthing options the hospital offered, like she didn't know where the squat bar was, or where a birthing ball was, etc. She was right because her condescending attitude, time crunch and talk of pitocin discouraged me so deeply. My water broke at 6pm, I arrived at the hospital at 8pm, and got the epidural around 1am. Baby was born at 1:15pm. The epidural experience was awesome and I'm open to it again. Every other nurse I had was awesome but I literally still struggle with unforgiveness towards that first nurse's attitude. Even once I got the epidural she was short with me, acted like anything I asked for was too much (Popsicles and broth as I was starving) and seemed like she was just sick of "dealing" with me. With my second (I'm 24 weeks now) I'm hoping to go unmedicated again and lesson learned: feel free to kick a nurse out if she's being a jerk.
Yes how horrid was that nurse...beware next time to kick them out......that was such a shame...i can still remember a horrid nurse i had, and my son is now 40 years.
Wow. Don’t let a nurse tell you you have to do anything! And you had every right to kick her out. They are there to help you and you have hired them. Anyone you don’t want there can be sent away. There’s no way I’d be okay with that awful person. I’m so sorry.
I can hear you as i had a same experience with the 1st nurse she was rude and kewp telling me that if o dnt take epidural its going to be more 12 -13 hrs and she already knew that I was in labor for more thn 12 hrs.she threw my plan to go unmediated and she increased the pitotin dose as her shift was abt to finish and ahe wanted to go home.pictonin overdose cause baby anxiety and heart of the baby dropped and it became emergency and turned into a emergency c section after trying for vaginal delivery.. I was 1st time mom
This is the most descriptive birth story I’ve ever watched. Thank you! I’m 37 with my first and wanting to experience it unmedicated. Been super nervous about it but this video has been super helpful in preparing for a positive labor environment! Congrats to you and hope you’re recovering nicely ❤️
@@jogoldcoaster2847 you don’t have to push it. People are free to make their own call, these days people are so afraid to feel pain but when a baby is coming out yes it’s gonna hurt! I got thru with just some fentanyl at the end.
@@jogoldcoaster2847 Telling someone "You will need help" implying that an epidural is the best option simply isn't true. Every birthing experience is different and even with an epidural it's not going to be "easy". My mom delivered me & my 2 sisters 100% unmedicated in 1975, 1979, & 1984 using the Lamaze method after her mom telling her she couldn't do it... but she did. Each of my sisters have also had 3 unmedicated births. I adopted my children so I never gave birth but was there during all my sister's births & also worked as a Labor & Delivery Tech for quite sometime. Any birth, unmedicated, IV or IM pain meds, or an epidural are all valid options but should only be something that the person giving birth & their Dr/Midwife choose.
I definitely used a lot of “words” during labor and delivery 😂 That’s really cool though, I’ve never heard that before. I need to look into it more now. Thanks 😊
During my epidural.. ohhh i let a few of those out. Lol. I was having contractions while I was getting the epidural. They were 3 min apart so it was a just do it moment. The doctor was just laughing and thought it was halirious so i was grateful they understood
Great video of your experience! I am a 76 year old Grandma now, but 46 years ago delivered my daughter all natural; no medication at all. It was the best experience!! I applaud you for an experience well done! Congratulations to you and your husband for a beautiful baby girl!! Thank you for sharing! Sending Love and Blessings to all!!💗💝
Congratulations!!! There cannot be enough positive birth stories out there! So many scary stories. I had a positive epidural story and have since been reassuring my pregnant friends that labor and delivery can be a positive memory. The euphoria I felt as she came out is indescribable.
I’ve always thought she reminded me of someone but I couldn’t put my finger on it. Now that you say Drew Barrymore, it clicks. She definitely resembles her physically, vocally, mannerisms, etc.
Congratulations! My last labor was an extremely intense three hours, and the way I made it work during that last 30 minutes was just count to 10 because I can endure this for just 10 more seconds. Every contraction was so efficient and powerful that I was sure I would not make it, but it’s amazing what we can do if we just break it down into counting to 10 seconds, or in your case 60 seconds. Props to you for doing this!
This video is such a godsend! I’m 31 weeks and will probably watch this once a week to help me mentally prepare myself. We’re waiting until baby girl is born to name her, but I’m hoping to welcome a Rosalie of my own in 9 short weeks
8:30 so true!! I just had a baby as well and was planning on avoiding the epidural altogether. After about 12 hours of labor my contractions started to feel really intense, almost to the point of being unbearable. Although I was 8 cm dilated and the pushing stage could have been right around the corner all I could focus on at that point was the pain. Thankfully, the nurse I had was really supportive and helped me make the decision to get an epidural without pressuring me to choose either way. So even though I ended up changing my mind and things didn't go as planned, I still had a positive and empowering birth experience that resulted in a beautiful baby!
21 weeks with my first and hearing details about some of the things most birth vlogs/stories don’t usually talk about (like pooping or fundal massage) are really helpful to set realistic expectations for a first timer. I feel like there’s a stigma about sharing the not so “glamorous” parts about pregnancy, birth and postpartum. So I appreciate you for sharing your experience. Congrats on your baby girl. You did amazing!
The picture of you after seeing you had a girl, oh my gosh. I burst into tears. Such a beautiful picture that you can cherish forever. Not having a birth photographer when I had my 3 children is my only regret from my labor and delivery.
What a dream birth experience! I love hearing stories of birthing people being totally supported and encouraged and empowered. I absolutely loved when you related about telling them to stop touching you and they all did so instantly. I had a moment like that during my first labour and was having a cervical check done at the time. The midwife kept going even though I was yelling for her to get her hand out of me. I had to REALLY fight down a strong instinct to kick her away from me. I'm glad I did manage that because I'm pretty sure that if I hadn't, I would have got in a lot of trouble, and that is not a thought that sits well with me. Congratulations on your lovely baby :)
It is so awesome that you started the video with the caveat that you don’t have to have everything go according to your birth plan! I just had my first baby two months ago and I spent my whole pregnancy thinking I’d go unmedicated. I changed my mind during labor and got the epidural, then convinced myself for weeks after that I somehow messed up my birth experience by getting it. The way you told this story didn’t make me feel bad about my own experience like a lot of other natural birth stories do. You rock! Congrats on your beautiful baby girl!
When you showed the picture of you finding out she was a girl, I ugly cried! There is no feeling like it. You are done with the pain and meet your little gift.
What a beautiful story. Thank you for sharing that. I was moved to tears when you shared that your whole birth team immediately respected your “don’t touch me” the communal respect and care was incredibly moving. Thankful you had that as your experience. And thank you for also pointing out how uncomfortable some of the afterbirth experiences are. As a mom of three, I still forget about that sometimes but truly it is horrible and I think it’s helpful for more women to be prepared for those moments, even though they are shorten and eventually forgotten. Your video had so much helpful content, I appreciated you acting things out, it’s so much more helpful for me as a viewer. Thank you thank tou!
This is the most helpful birth story I've ever heard. I had my last baby unmedicated in the hospital and ended up feeling helpless on my back for my entire active labor. There are so many great ideas here for how to move and do your own thing in the hospital setting!
I’ll be lucky if my husband’s even allowed in the room, let alone a birth photographer. COVID regulations are still kicking our ass here in Ireland. Your birth looked amazing, glad you had access to such wonderful resources. 🙏🏻
Yikes, I’m sorry to hear that 😓 I really hope they let your husband in the room. We as women need to have support and a feeling of safety and comfort while giving birth so I would really push to have him there
@@amandahensley9719 I've heard from many friends & have even noticed a large amount of RUclipsrs that are going the route of home births because of COVID restrictions. I'm in the US & with the vaccine some of our restrictions are relaxed (some too relaxed in my opinion) but June 26, 2020 my daughter was hospitalized with pre-eclampsia and my granddaughter was born at 31 wks gestation on June 28, 2020. No Visitors. I couldn't go see my baby or her baby... it was terrifying. (So thankful for phones, and other technology so we could see her!) I finally met my granddaughter 41 days later when she came home at 4 lbs 8oz. Amazingly she was born tiny but strong. She didn't need help breathing or her heart rate, just needed to learn to eat (gain weight) & maintain her body weight!! She just turned one & she's barely 16 lbs but is 28 inches long and hitting her milestones in everything but weight!
Omg the fundal massage was the one thing I wish someone had warned me about-that was the absolute worst because I didn't know it was something that happened and I wasn't expecting it to be so uncomfortable! It's so nice to hear about a positive story, and you explained everything so well. I had a really complex pregnancy and delivery and hearing stories like this makes me feel so much more positive about future pregnancies. Also, those photos were just incredible. Congratulations on your baby girl!
I just had my daughter 5.5 months ago but this makes me SO excited to give birth again. It was incredibly painful and hurt like crazy (pitocin, no epidural) but I want to have this experience. I didn't advocate for myself like I wish I would've but next time WILL be different. ❤ Congratulations, mama, you did amazing!
Mother Nature gave us Ladies labour pain for a reason, sucks I know... luckily I gave birth 3 times without epidural cos here in Italy it didn't exist - "luckily" because if I'd have been offered it I would have jumped at the chance (labour IS agony) but I honestly believe that being paralysed would have been horrible for me - plus I literally jumped off that bed 5 minutes after giving birth, full of beans; this mother states the truth that pain can be controlled with mind control - think to urself that with every contraction you are one step forward to holding ur baby PS epidural is now available here but both my daughters chose natural birth 3 times each... u know, watching them in labour was worse for me than when I was having them!
@@00aga00 It sucked! Everyone's body is different though! Thankfully I had cervidil inserted the night before that got me to 4cm the next day. Then they broke my water & started pitocin. I slept through most of my contractions from 2-4cm (I was 1cm when i was admitted) and they felt like uncomfortable period cramps until the pitocin hit. But boy, when they got to 14mls and the nurse came in to turn it up, I said no, don't touch it unless you're turning it down & she turned it down 😂
I'm due (with my first) in 7 weeks. I have not visited the labor delivery department, no one has really talked to me about a birth plan, and I love birth videos like this. The details, the emotion, the pictures you thoughtfully provide, and the positivity. Congratulations on your healthy baby girl.
This is just such a beautiful birth story Elizabeth. I am so thrilled you ended all of your pregnancies with such a positive story. What a beautiful baby and that picture is INCREDIBLE!
You helped me so much with my birth / pregnancy last year! I’m so happy to see this!!! Congratulations, you did it!!! ♥️ she is so beautiful. The photo you shared made me cry! 🥺♥️
I watched you when I was pregnant RIGHT before Covid!!! I had him April 1st 2020 and things changed hourly as far as restrictions and such! You gave me such a peace of mind during the whole process! This is so amazing! Congratulations!!!!
My first birth was a c section. It wasn’t planned, but it was amazing, non-scary, empowering and the recovery was quite a breeze. Now that I’ve experienced that, I do hope that I can have a positive, natural vaginal birth like you did, and I will use everything I’ve learned from your video when I do. Congratulations Nurse Zabe!
I don't think we as nurses realize just how big an impact we can have on our patients' lives just by giving them the positive experience of feeling supported--making them feel that we're all on the same "team". My first birth experience was misery. I was induced early for GD and Pre-E; my blood pressure was super high, and I was not given an epidural at the start of my labor. By 36 hours in and no progress, and a nurse who would not get my OB for me because I was begging for a cesarean at that point, and had to wait for change of shift to get another nurse (I wasn't a nurse then, and even though I was 22, I didn't know my rights). A cesarean after languishing for 36 hours left me in sore shape. It took so long to recover from the surgery, too--I couldn't stand straight up without some pain for 6 months. This was in a different state than where I had my youngest two, and I had chosen OB/GYN physicians. I'll compare that with my second and third experience when I had nurse midwife providers: they themselves visited me about every hour until late night when we were all sleeping. The midwives at the practice where I was being seen all knew I REALLY wanted a VBAC, despite an OB/GYN telling me that due to my previous failed labor, maternal age, and gestational diabetes she only gave me a 30% chance of having a successful VBAC, and warned that I could require an emergency cesarean. I still wanted to TRY...even though Cervudil was out, because I had a previous cesarean. Those midwives gave me so many options to get things going from the slow increase on the pitocin to the Foley bulb induction, yoga ball, walking. They had me monitored and baby monitored, and they did so much more than those OBs had even tried (they basically put in Cervidil, took it out, and started pitocin, then the OB tried breaking my water at 1cm...I don't think I need to tell you how painful it was when he missed the tiny target). And I did have a successful VBAC--it took 33 hours, but we did it. I was amazed at how much more I could function after giving birth. The reduction in pain cannot be overstated. I got to hold my baby as soon as he was out, unlike the cesarean, and I was able to have more family there. My husband got to cut the cord after it stopped pumping. Every detail that I had planned, they tried to make it happen. This did affect my life in big ways. I had tried for 6 years to get pregnant with my second child, but I ended up getting pregnant 6 months after I gave birth to him. I chose the same midwives and hospital, and even during CV, in 2021, they tried to accommodate my wishes. And my second VBAC went even another than my first (took about a third of the time, less than a third of the pushes, and I had a very quiet birth). But that's not all! I used to not like OB nursing, because right from the start I had a very mean instructor who threatened to fail me because SHE made a med error (she gave a patient a medication after the other nurse had already given it). I just didn't like L&D. Now, I'm going back for nurse midwifery! I want to make those same kinds of positive impacts on people, and I want to make midwife services more accessible to people who live in counties in my state that are severely lacking in OB services. I am an ICU/MED/SURG/SKILLED/ wherever-is-paying-the-most RN, and here it is 13 years after getting my license that I am looking to make a big change in direction and focus in my life. That's the power of a positive experience with your nurses. It's amazing.
I love this story and how you told it. I’m pregnant with number 2 and I’m nervous and excited, this makes me more excited than nervous. Also, Rosalie is adorable, congratulations!
Woaw. What an amazing experience and staff. If everyone had this kind of experience I’m sure women wouldn’t be so traumatized with their births. Didn’t get one ounce of this care with my 3 children.
Your videos are soooo comforting to me. Everytime I get scared or nervous about labor, I watch some of your videos, and I feel so so so much better. I'm 25 weeks with a girl.
I had my first baby unmedicated in January and your story brings back so many memories ♥️♥️♥️ 34 hours of hard labor later and we had our 7.5 lb princess! Thank you for sharing!
I'm due in October and this has been SO helpful in finding a comforting mind space. So many people have given me the horror story of "absolutely get the epidural or you'll regret it!" but your story made the possibility of an unmedicated birth feel real... And most importantly, achievable! All of the details and honesty about pain vs. discomfort (especially the mantra of "I can survive anything for sixty seconds") were incredibly helpful and calming. Thank you so much for sharing your experience!
Ahhh the picture gave me chilllls the shock and joy of everyone around you seeing you experience that special moment is so irreplaceable. Note to self get a birth photographer!
I love hearing your experience! I had a homebirth, non-medicated, labored and delivered in a tub, not knowing what gender for my 2nd child (completely opposite from my 1st child) 17+ years ago. It was truly the most amazing experience of my life!! I became a nurse last year and plan to eventually become a midwife that does homebirths:-)
I really wish I recalled my experience like you did so I can remember the details! My twin sister was my photographer and she took some amazing photos, so happy for that! Btw, I had a doctor, 2 nurses, 3 sisters (1 is a L&D nurse), my husband, my Mom, and 2 best friends (one of which I had been there for her homebirth only a few months before). So I had a huge amount of support!
I love this! I'm so happy you had such an amazing experience! I just have birth to my little girl March 4th, 2021 unmedicated and I swear your videos I watched prior helped me do it! I watched almost every one of your videos on the channel to help prepare myself for a natural unmedicated birth! Your mantra you said in one of your videos "the contraction cannot be stronger than me, it is me" and your breathing techniques in the labor tool box series went through my head my whole labor. Thank you so much for your guidence❤
Thank you so much for sharing. This really makes me feel secure that I would like to go in with no real "plan" and just be open to my options and being able to decide during labour based on how I am feeling. Congratulations, Rosalie is just precious
You did amazing! I really appreciate how honest you were about all stages of the delivery. It is super important to normalise everything that mothers go through during birth and make the information accessible. I am 38.5 weeks pregnant and looking forward to my birth. I had my first baby in hospital but I felt very out of control and like I didn't have a say in my labour. I have opted for a home birth this time and my midwife has really encouraged me, assured me that I am a good candidate for it, and I feel positive so far 😊
This was great. I love the detail and descriptions, so many people tell their story glossing over things and as someone who doesn't understand and hasn't gone through labor yet this really helped me understand more what to expect. I love the comb idea. Thank you so much for sharing! Not many people talk about the uncomfortable feeling after, definitely something to try and meditate or something through to prepare for that perhaps. Also going to put the heating pad in the delivery bag. Congrats and hope you can rest to heal well.
I've been following you since I became pregnant and I had my baby 10 days ago! Thank you for sharing your beautiful story ❤ my baby came by emergency c-section and I'm still processing the trauma of it all.
Oh Rheana, I’m so sorry you had a traumatic experience. If you want to chat about it, you can dm me on Instagram. Sometimes telling your birth story helps with processing.
Such an amazing experience. You’re so lucky you have nursing knowledge and were at your own hospital with your colleagues and BATH TUBS!!! Congrats this gives me hope.
I loved hearing your birth story!! I love love love how you highlight the placenta birth and fundal massage being something to not forget about- with my son that was the WORST part, and although im a nurse, I just wasn’t expecting it to be as painful as that was. Could’ve been my experience but yikes!! Congrats!!! She’s so beautiful!!
Yes I completely agree. I had an epidural with my 1st so I didn't realize how bad it was. With my 2nd, the afterbirth and uterine massage was worse than the labor contractions and birthing my baby lol. Doing it again here in a couple months and I'm already nervous for this part.
I loved your story. It's so beautiful. I was in tears remembering my own daughter's birth 6 months ago, and feeling those emotions with you ❤ the raw and real beauty of birth and the love, instant and unconditional, that overwhelms you in those first seconds is so apparent. Thank you for sharing.
I didnt poop cause I literally pooped out my entire colon the day of labor. I pooped 12 times that day until only clear liquid came out :S Thats how I knew I was gonna give birth soon
I’ve given birth three times and each time, I barfed and pooped my soul out. In the privacy of my own home, though, so I can always pick and choose to pretend that it didn’t happen 😉
My baby is 3 months now (unfortunately an emergency c-section that I’m still recovering from) but I’m finally to the point of being able to hear other birth stories without such grief for my own. And your story was such a sweet one to hear and see! Definitely gives me more positive feelings toward any future births ❤️Congratulations!!
I had my first baby, my daughter, 6 weeks ago! She came 3 weeks early and was only 5 pounds 12 ounces. Giving Birth was the craziest, most intense, most wonderful experience of my life. I binge-watched all your videos prior to her birth so thank you so much for all the information you provided!! Congratulations on your little one!! I’m so glad you had such a wonderful experience ✨
Absolutely love your birth story along with photos, I'm currently 37 weeks with my first and spending the last few weeks envisioning the unmedicated, natural birth I desire. Hearing your story gives me a lot of hope and courage to hopefully make it through when the time comes. ♥️
Thank you so much for talking about the uncomfortable parts after the birth! I had baby #2 almost 3 months ago and I almost hemorrhaged when she was born. The doctor reaching in and grabbing the clots (or whatever was going on... I was pretty out of it in pain without any pain meds) was the worst pain I've ever experienced!
YES. my first I bleed out and getting manually cleaned out was A W F U L. I didnt have pain meds and I kept telling my midwife I'd birth my daughter a 100 times if she could get out of me.
Look at you looking at your baby! Maggie is AMAZING! These pictures are absolutely perfect and I’m so happy you have them and shared with us. I am so excited to give birth next month, especially after hearing positive birth stories like yours. Thank you for all that you do 💗💗💗
This makes me what to have another baby. I did not have a positive birthing experience with my son and it has made me want to have another to not leave the birth experience on a bad note. I was defiantly not listened to and my son was put at risk and is lucky he did not suffer bigger birth injuries. I wish you could be my labor and delivery nurse. Congratulations on a positive birthing experience and a healthy baby!
Congratulations! It really sounds like a perfect birth experience! I am currently 37 weeks and anticipating birth... with my first child I had problems with gathering the power to push out the placenta as well... the nurse told me to squat on the bed, handed me a balloon and told me to try to blow it up.. and it worked wonders! The placenta was born without any discomfort..:) i am still so so so gratefull for the nurse and her balloon-trick!
It's ok to be scared ♡ It's not an easy thing to go through. I'm 30 weeks with our second child and I'm very scared. Was no picnic the 1st time I went through it 😂
What made my labors and deliveries the best was the lack of others being present. With my first the nurse thought I was having false labor so left me alone and almost sent me home, but 40 minutes later I had three pushes and that little baby boy came into my arms. Two of our children were born at home with just my husband and me while the older children slept. The fewer the people, the better. My husband said he could barely hear my noises...no screaming or even normal talking. Only whispers and happy babies. Today our five children are 30-38.
I went into hospital having contractions every 2 minutes. Monitors said I was having 3 per 20 mins. Told I was only 2cm. Gave birth an hour later, unmedicated after being told to go home.
I rarely watch birth stories front to back, but I stayed for yours :). I love how we get both your mama and nurse sides.. super informative but also super relatable! Also love your positive attitude and energy that you bring to all your videos.. and to situations like getting a new care provider that could be taken in a negative way, but you chose to be open minded even in the middle of labour! I'm 19 weeks now with my second and definitely going to try the comb trick this labour! Congrats Elizabeth and family on the arrival of Rosalie!!!
I have always had them break my water to get things moving. It is much more intense, but it works for me. My first I was induced, but had them break my water and they had me on a very low dose of pitocin and cut me totally off toward the end. Went from dilated 7 to holding baby within 30 minutes. My second, I was in early labor for a little over 24 hours. I wasn’t sure if it was true labor when I arrived at the hospital and had been told on the phone to stay home longer, but was dilated 6. Told them to break my water and baby was born two hours later. After a full day of early labor, I was falling asleep between pushes. A wonderful nurse delivered my baby since the doctor didn’t seem to believe how quick it would go. Congratulations! Rosalie is beautiful! Loved hearing your story!
I’m about to have a baby any day and my first birth was traumatic my nurses weren’t on my team I was 19 and felt alone with little support (my mom and dad were awesome but only so much they can do) I feared having another baby my partner is such an amazing dad that we both knew we wanted one together. I have watched this video at least 3 times a day since it came out it makes me feel so calm and stable and I feel like I have know. You for a life time. Your presence is amazing!
I haven't watched yet but I'm so excited to see your video. I love your videos and I've been so excited to watch you bring this new life into the world!
Whatever you way you choose to bring this baby into the world is beautiful. I am so thankful this perspective is out, as it's what I looked for when I was pregnant with my first 10 years ago. I have been lucky enough to go al natural for all 3 of my babies. And y goodness, what an amazing thing our bodies can do!!! Congratulations
I am so glad that you are talking about how you pooped. I did the same, just a little but I was still embarrassed. And when talking about it with friends and I say that and they are like ewww that's gross!
I have my c-section first thing tomorrow morning and I can not be more excited! I think I’ll ask for a fundal massage to happen before my meds wear off - I do remember that being incredibly uncomfortable. So glad you had such an amazing experience ❤️ thank you for sharing!!! And welcome to the world baby Rose
I love watching this video. The way you’re in the moment with your eyes closed at times telling your story brought me into it even more. I’m a fellow RN (geriatrics/hospice) and the passion you share is why we are nurses. I give credit to your videos to empower me to make my future deliveries the best they can be.
I just want to tell you that I watched your videos one night all night long a few weeks ago.. my husband and I had an argument and for some reason I got into my head I was gonna have this baby with no medicine because I was strong and I could.. let me tell you that if it wasn’t for your new birth story I could not have done it! The comb the breathing, my baby even came up with his hand to his face and because I didn’t control that last push received 2nd degree tear lol.. I had to laugh because you got me through it and we both had a very similar experience.. it was beautiful and powerful and I just wanna say thank you! You gave me the strength to feel like I can accomplish anything!
Man I wish I had had a team like that, they wanted me in the bed constantly monitoring even though things were fine so had to resort to the epidural cause I couldn't lay in that pain. what a wonderful experience for you!
@@Nurse_zabe me too, I wanted to but they were concerned with the induction so I understood, just grateful for the epidural that made it tolerable in that situation, hoping with this one maybe it will be different
Thank you so much for sharing your birth story. I appreciate your raw/real life detail of what you experienced. I’m an ED nurse and I’ve had a hard time coping with my birth story because I had to have an emergency c-section under general. Your story helped me feel. Your story helped me cope.
I had a terrible birth experience but this gives me hope that I was just unlucky and maybe the next time can really be better. ❤️ Water broke, no contractions, so I needed to get medication to get it started. Everything was fine until I was fully dialated though. And then I pushed for 4 hours, contractions went pretty much away in between, so iv medication that time and then I was pretty much screaming non stop. He also had an arm besides his face and was stuck. My midwife had to push on my belly to squeeze him out. That was actually the best thing that happened because then it was over. Of course quite a lot of tearing, I bleed a lot and I went unconcious after trying to get out of the birthing tub. I was so done I didn't even care about my baby at first. So, no positive experience so far. But I'm glad to see it can be different and I really want to have that.
37 weeks and 4 days with my first. Bouncing on my ball and cramping while enjoying this lovely nurse Zane content. Feeling encouraged in wanting to do natural birth!
Thank you guys so much for your support!! I really appreciate all of the positivity.
Wanted to post that my ring sling is from hope and plum in the print flor, since do many of you asked.
Do you think you were treated so well because you're a labor nurse? This is the most positive story I've heard! Congratulations 🌺
@@iamwhoyousayiam6773 Yeah I definitely can't see them treating a lay person so well. Definitely isn't the experience of any women I've ever talked to. Also I think it's because she believes in western medicine so was willing to do all the things so there was no push back. Only kick back! Haha.
So incredibly happy for you!! You are so gorgeous and your pictures are so powerful!! Thank you for sharing so openly! I’ve learned so much!❤️❤️
Can I ask what wrap you use for your baby wearing?
MashAllah
My dog attempted to do the same...she kept running downstairs to me to check up on me. My husband, meanwhile, was asleep upstairs...lol
My cat loves to follow me around and sleep in my belly!
That is so sweet 🥺cats really are the best💗

Drew Barrymore vibes 🥰 perfect video, currently 38 weeks, and can't wait to give birth and this video was amazing!!!
I wondered if I was the only one reminded of Drew Barrymore lol
Same thought about Drew Barrymore 😅
“I can do anything for 60 seconds” is very true. I knew I’d have a long labour and told myself that “I can do anything for one day.” Turns out I can do anything, without an epidural, even for 76 hours! And it was a beautiful, intense, and positive birth for me and I could see my experience in yours. Thank you.
❤️♥️ amazing congratulations
You are a superstar!!
Amazing! This is the attitude. Congrats!!! 🎉 💪
I loved the ‘don’t decide on an epidural during a contraction’ … I really needed that during my first!
😳😬 I was the opposite, I decided on an epidural as soon as I saw a second line on the pregnancy test. 😂 This is one of the best birth stories I’ve watched!
@@viciouslady7482 🤣
I told my husband before hand " I may try to cave, don't let me because I'll be upset worth myself." He made sure I got the birth I wanted and I'm so grateful. So many channels have given this advice but my goodness is it tempting 😂
@@dreamsscream … so tempting! I had several people that helped me, but towards the end that internal mantra would have been a lot better than “I’m not sure i can make it” 😅
@@ElizabethChronis mine was I can't do this 😂😂
The way you told your story, details you included, and way you explained everything was amazing. I think this is my favorite birth story video! When I was pregnant with my first baby this is exactly the kind of video that would have helped me feel more confident and mentally prepared for the experiences I may have. Congratulations! She is beautiful!!
Thank you! And congrats on your little one!!
Hello drent did
@@Nurse_zabe It's very helpful to hear a midwives perspective on her own birth experience and her decisions, especially from you.
Thanks!
I feel the same way! One of the best video I have watched- thank you!!!
@@victoriamckenzie6352 lol same if I’m in pain I don’t want anyone talking or touching me
I’ll try to think about that while in labor
I did I thought about it does help
Yay for you and for your amazing support! And that first shower is THE BEST!
You are so brave!! Great job mom!
Your photographer did a great job, all the pictures you shared are incredible and moving! I'm so happy you have a beautiful healthy little girl. Congratulations!
She really did! I will cherish them forever!
I love how you closed your eyes while recalling and sharing the story. So beautiful!
Love how half of the video is you with your eyes close jus refeeling everything. Congratulations and welcome to the fam Rosalie ❤️
When I was editing I thought I looked a little crazy 😂😂
What a horrible nurse!
I hope that nurse has the grace to get over herself!
*37 weeks!
Lighting really helped too! The twinkle lights and fake candles really set the mood and made it easier to cope!
You will need help.....its not easy for most...have that epidural.....once one has the epidural., the screaming stops!..
I want to thank you for how honestly you describe this. I feel like it gives me a realistic expectation of what to expect when I go into labor.
I was saying the F word a lot , but I was still saying it with rhythm 😂😂🤣🤌🏼 that’s a whole mood

The “F-word” Mantra is REAL! Science says cursing can lessen pain! How cool!? Beautiful birthday! Beautiful baby girl! Congratulations, beautiful Momma! ✨👏🥰✨
Love it!
I definitely used a lot of “words” during labor and delivery 😂
That’s really cool though, I’ve never heard that before. I need to look into it more now. Thanks 😊
I just cried during contractions
During my epidural.. ohhh i let a few of those out. Lol. I was having contractions while I was getting the epidural. They were 3 min apart so it was a just do it moment. The doctor was just laughing and thought it was halirious so i was grateful they understood
Also screaming Jesus not as a curse but as a form of help. Majorly helped me through my unplanned natural birth.
I so admire anybody that gives birth unmedicated. Lord knows I couldn't! You're a queen warrior Elizabeth!!!
Epidurals are great tools too! Fortunately this was a quick experience. I don’t think I could have done it for too much longer
I think if Drew Barrymore ever did a birth video it would be very very similar! Congrats on beautiful baby!!!
I genuinely was thinking she reminds me of Drew Barrymore
I love the counting to 10!
"Ten seconds at a time!" From Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and very helpful
Sorry you went through that
It is so awesome that you started the video with the caveat that you don’t have to have everything go according to your birth plan!
Love this hospital! We need more hospitals like this ! Tub, nurses who know counter pressure, and obs who listen! ❤❤❤❤
Literally love my hospital and coworkers so much!!
We as women need to have support and a feeling of safety and comfort while giving birth so I would really push to have him there
Have a home birth with a midwife
@@amandahensley9719 I've heard from many friends & have even noticed a large amount of RUclipsrs that are going the route of home births because of COVID restrictions.
I'm in the US & with the vaccine some of our restrictions are relaxed (some too relaxed in my opinion) but June 26, 2020 my daughter was hospitalized with pre-eclampsia and my granddaughter was born at 31 wks gestation on June 28, 2020. No Visitors.
I couldn't go see my baby or her baby... it was terrifying. (So thankful for phones, and other technology so we could see her!)
I finally met my granddaughter 41 days later when she came home at 4 lbs 8oz.
Thank you! And yes the fundal massage is torturous! 😬
I don't think it should be called "massage," haha! Not fun or relaxing at all!
I had the labor of my first kid without epidural and my daughter had her hand in the face. I also had a little bit of tearing, but it was amazing!
It is such an intense, magical experience! 💗💗
Pitocin and no epidural?!?! I was in agony at 3 cm 😐
Mother Nature gave us Ladies labour pain for a reason, sucks I know... luckily I gave birth 3 times without epidural cos here in Italy it didn't exist - "luckily" because if I'd have been offered it I would have jumped at the chance (labour IS agony) but I honestly believe that being paralysed would have been horrible for me - plus I literally jumped off that bed 5 minutes after giving birth, full of beans;
this mother states the truth that pain can be controlled with mind control - think to urself that with every contraction you are one step forward to holding ur baby
PS epidural is now available here but both my daughters chose natural birth 3 times each... u know, watching them in labour was worse for me than when I was having them!

Me too 😭😭
I watched you when I was pregnant RIGHT before Covid!!!
“Didn’t feel like I had slept but I woke up in a pile of drool”😂😂😂 I relate to this so hard during this 3rd trimester!!

I really needed this, I'm 31 weeks with twins and feeling very anxious. This video helped me a great deal !
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. She's beautiful! You remind me so much of Drew Barrymore btw! 😊
I have been following along few weeks behind (38wks today) was so happy to hear your little one arrived safe and sound!
We had our babies at the same time! ♡ my son is so perfect congratulations to you and every momma 💛💛
I love how you used so many technical/medical terms throughout! It was so interesting to hear this natural birth story from a nurse's perspective 😊
Same! I am a midwife and I was still unprepared for how much the repair hurt afterward. By far that was the worst part of my birth
Yes I completely agree. I had an epidural with my 1st so I didn't realize how bad it was. With my 2nd, the afterbirth and uterine massage was worse than the labor contractions and birthing my baby lol. Doing it again here in a couple months and I'm already nervous for this part.
I've been following your channel through my whole pregnancy, and I had my baby boy June 3rd!
It really is so beautiful!
This absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing and for being so candid. The best part was you closing your eyes and really reliving the moment.
I didnt poop cause I literally pooped out my entire colon the day of labor. I pooped 12 times that day until only clear liquid came out :S Thats how I knew I was gonna give birth soon
I just saved the poop for when there were like 20 people in the room watching me labor 😂😂😂
This is probably gonna be me i poop so much😭😂 Im 31 weeks i hope i poop a lot that day
You scared me! I thought you meant your literal colon came out 😰
@@AmyHoldaway27 oh dear hahaha XD
I’ve given birth three times and each time, I barfed and pooped my soul out. In the privacy of my own home, though, so I can always pick and choose to pretend that it didn’t happen 😉
My baby is 3 months now (unfortunately an emergency c-section that I’m still recovering from) but I’m finally to the point of being able to hear other birth stories without such grief for my own. And your story was such a sweet one to hear and see! Definitely gives me more positive feelings toward any future births ❤️Congratulations!!
Same girl. My labor was induced and then it turned into an emergency c section. My baby is 5 months now. I
I had my first baby, my daughter, 6 weeks ago!
Congrats on your Daughter! Sweet tiny peanut!
Absolutely love your birth story along with photos, I'm currently 37 weeks with my first and spending the last few weeks envisioning the unmedicated, natural birth I desire. Hearing your story gives me a lot of hope and courage to hopefully make it through when the time comes. ♥️
You can totally do it! 💗💪
All babies are pure , beautiful and innocent
Look at you looking at your baby! Maggie is AMAZING! These pictures are absolutely perfect and I’m so happy you have them and shared with us. I am so excited to give birth next month, especially after hearing positive birth stories like yours. Thank you for all that you do 💗💗💗
Yay! Good luck on your upcoming birth!
I am 40+5 right now watching this as a mood booster! And trying to make notes! I have watched since my previous pregnancy. I love this channel.
Congrats . You’re very strong for going unmedicated. I couldn’t do it and don’t plan on doing it. (FTM 30 weeks and scared 😳)
Nothing wrong with medication, I've had 4 soon to be 5 medicated births, you got this! Don't be scared ♡
Don't be scared! Your body is meant to do this! God bless
It's ok to be scared ♡ It's not an easy thing to go through. I'm 30 weeks with our second child and I'm very scared. Was no picnic the 1st time I went through it 😂
I had a medicated birth and I really enjoyed it. You can do this!
And you don’t have to do it! That’s the beauty of choice in birth. I’m sure your birth will be beautiful! 💗💗
Due any day now and I love your comb tip! I’ve not heard about that yet as a strategy to cope with pain. I’ll have to pack one!
Whish I knew about it earlier ! 2 weeks postpartum here 🤗 ... went all natural
@@karinalemus2305 Congratulations to you & baby! Hope you're doing well!
Thank you for your perfectly timed videos, I'm currently 40weeks +3 days (first baby) and every one of these updates has been so helpful ❤️
That photo is so beautiful and raw. Loved this.
💗💗💗
How did you even reach your cervix! I could barely reach to wipe after the loo when i was pregnant 😂😂😂
Good point bahahaha
I had to get a bidet it got so hard to wipe 😂
I’m about to have a baby any day and my first birth was traumatic my nurses weren’t on my team I was 19 and felt alone with little support (my mom and dad were awesome but only so much they can do) I feared having another baby my partner is such an amazing dad that we both knew we wanted one together. I have watched this video at least 3 times a day since it came out it makes me feel so calm and stable and I feel like I have know. You for a life time. Your presence is amazing!
I haven't watched yet but I'm so excited to see your video. I love your videos and I've been so excited to watch you bring this new life into the world!
💗💗💗
@@Nurse_zabe hoping mine goes just as well in 8 weeks or less! 🧡
I’m sorry you weren’t able to be more mobile 😩
@@Nurse_zabe me too, I wanted to but they were concerned with the induction so I understood, just grateful for the epidural that made it tolerable in that situation, hoping with this one maybe it will be different
oh thats so sad!
just remember for next time...you can deny anything you want!
Thank you so much for sharing your birth story. I appreciate your raw/real life detail of what you experienced. I’m an ED nurse and I’ve had a hard time coping with my birth story because I had to have an emergency c-section under general. Your story helped me feel. Your story helped me cope.
Congratulations mama!! ❤️ your little peanut is finally here!
And she didn’t weigh 47lbs!!
I have IBS and “the f word mantra” is genuinely a godsend for pain 😂
😂😂😂
Congratulations Nurse Zabe!!!I so love you!!! I am 35 + 2 and you have been my go to for 8 months!
You’re almost done too! Congrats!!
I had a terrible birth experience but this gives me hope that I was just unlucky and maybe the next time can really be better. ❤️
Water broke, no contractions, so I needed to get medication to get it started.
I'm so sorry that you had such a difficult birth.
I hope your next birth will be a much more peaceful and positive experience!
37 weeks and 4 days with my first. Bouncing on my ball and cramping while enjoying this lovely nurse Zane content. Feeling encouraged in wanting to do natural birth!
Rosie is so beautiful, she has momma's dimples (I saw her smiley little angel face on ig)
She does! All my kiddos have matching dimples 😊
