the duplex unit only supports letter and executive paper. It's a big throwback compared to the previous model

HP launched several other models so although I agree the 8720 is the best definition to "previous model" of the 9013, there's still the 902X model that might fill this gap (assuming this is possible with it).

Currently, I don't have the ability to show that, but I believe it is possible by adjusting the paper drawer measurements and defining that in HP's printer settings.
If this is still complicated, I advise you to contact HP's customer support service in your local area and ask them to guide you.

the USB offers two options, "print picture and scan" how do I print PDF and Word documents from the USB since they are not visible on the printer??? please help I am stuck with this thing and cant find any RUclips videos showing me how

I hope you managed to solve this issue until now, but I believe these features should appear on the small display if they are available.
If not, then you should do that from the app itself.
If you still you don't manage to solve it, then I advise contacting HP's customer support in your local area and ask them to guide you step by step.

Apparently, you can't print from pdf only from Picture so that makes it useless
Is the ink go drying if ididnt use the printer for a period of time?

Good printer, I still don't know how to secure the envelopes for printing with a back latch

I didn't use envelopes with it so far, but I did demonstrate how to adjust the paper tray according to the size of the media you're using with it, so I suggest checking it once again and hopefully, it will help you.

Is it better than 9023?

Hopefully, I will post a review of the HP OfficeJet Pro 9023 soon, but until that happens I can confirm that:
- The main difference is that the 9023 has 2 paper drawers, plus the specs are a bit different.
- These changes make it a bit more expensive than the HP OfficeJet Pro 9023.
- Ink cartridges are the same.
The OfficeJet Pro 9013 is already a great printer, so you should ask yourself if these additional modifications justify the extra $$$.

There can be several factors that might affect the colors.
1. Ink cartridge - is it original?
2. Paper type
3 Printer heads alignment when installing the new ink cartridges - did you do that?
4. Your expectations - maybe you expected different results? did you use other models that were superior to this one?
If you still think the colors looks dull for no reason, maybe it would be a good idea to contact HP's customer support and let them know that...
