It's awful but when nothing's wrong with you, you get normal regular person treatment. That's what they gave her, and they were very patient, if she hadn't had a medical issue. This is however a tragedy, not saying it isn't. That shouldn't have been her last moments in life, but wasn't really the cops fault.

this happened to my mom... she is paralyzed with a spinal cord injury (as a result of bravely surviving an attempted murder by an ex in her 20's) and is now in her 60's. she had a concussion from falling a few years back and immediately went to hospital. instead of helping her, the hospital nurse told her she was faking and tried to force her out of her wheelchair, pushing her out forcefully onto the ground, where she can't even physically catch herself. it horrified me as i was away at college. but after i graduated i moved in with her and saw it myself. when she had to go to the hospital again after she fell while i was at work, i went with her and cried, screamed, and begged people to help her. she didn't know who or where she was, was crying in pain, and again, she was treated like a nuisance and they forced us to go home. they couldn't even help her into the beds or wheelchairs properly and left me to do it. the hospital refused to do anything as they believed she was faking so i cared for her by myself for 6 months. she didn't know who she was for one month. it was the most traumatic experience. watching this is so disturbing, infuriating, and so incredibly sad. this happens to so many disabled people. rest in peace lisa.

There’s so much lack of accountability in those institutions that patients are often safer away from them! What a travesty! My heart goes to you for your mom’s horrific experience! ❤
Medical staff in many hospitals nowadays do not want to fulfill their job’s duties! Their hearts are not into fulfilling their responsibilities and they prefer taking the easy way out! They should’ve considered their lack of empathy, compassion and patience before accepting that degree, because now innocent patients are paying with their lives!😢

I am so sorry you and your mom had to go through that, no one should have to beg and scream for help especially at a hospital, I hope you are able to sue them or even have the hospital shut down. I have issues with my back, hip and knee and I will be in a wheelchair eventually, with how I am treated now ( most of my issues are invisible except for a bit of a limp and a chronically swollen knee from chronic bursitis ) a lot of the time people assume I am just lazy and lying, have to tell them in detail all of my physical problems before they listen but still assume I'm just lazy, or blame everything on weight when it isn't that, it worries me how I will be looked at/treated when I am finally forced in to a wheelchair.

My aunt went to the ER one night because she had been having a massive headache for days. They did a quick check of her vitals, told her to take some ibuprofen, and sent her home with instructions to visit her regular doctor. She did that the very next day. Her thoughtful and caring doctor told her that it wasn't uncommon for a woman in her 40s with 3 kids to get stressed out and have tension headaches. He told her she just needed to relax and rest. Three days later, she died in her sleep with a ruptured aneurysm. I have since learned that doctors very often dismiss women's complaints like this. Very sad.

My husband was treated bad when he was complaining about abdominal pain, no fever, just unbearable pain, ER kicked out telling us it was just a bad heartburn, we came back less than 12 hours later because my husband's pain was taking away his breath, when they saw us the Doctor told me rolling her eyes at me, "are you both here again?" I didn't answer
Another doctor saw my husband and send him back to do another CT scan and after not even 15 minutes the surgeon was talking to us about my husband needed an emergency surgery, his appendix ruptured and it was leaking
Five hours in OR and 10 days in the hospital
Sometimes doctors and medical staff they don't have compassion for patients that are in pain, they think they want drugs or something

Very similar thing happened when I took a friend to the ER in the middle of the night. She was in so much pain she was hallucinating. They wouldn't even do tests. She's a school teacher, very conservatively dressed etc. They decided she was drug seeking and sent us away. Next day her gp sent her for scans - severe gall bladder disease and she was scheduled for emergency surgery. It's such a wake up call when you see something like this for yourself, otherwise it is unbelievable the way medical personnel will treat a person based solely on an unfounded assumption. I bet this case is just one of many every year. I'm in Australia btw. What I describe happened here in one of our public hospitals. This problem is world-wide.

@@Seacrestered This isn’t “Satan.” This just an example of humans lacking empathy for other humans. Good and evil essentially boils down to those who have empathy, and those who do not have empathy.
Far too many humans care only for themselves and their offspring, yet they couldn’t care less for any other living being. Countless parents don’t even care about their own kids; they look out for themselves and that’s it. It’s incomprehensible.
It’s all dreadful, it’s horrific, but that’s humanity and that’s how it’s always been.
Thankfully, there are those who bear and display genuine empathy, and toward strangers, including children as well as animals.

I was screaming as if I was there. If these woman had been taken to another hospital possibly or at least taken seriously after screaming for help, her life COULD have been saved. If I was an attorney at the time of these incidents, I WOULD HAVE TAKEN THESE CASES PRO BONO. Our officials need to understand that not everyone is telling them these things to get attention or cause problems. Yet it is apparent that they do not & probably never will. It is untelling how many cases there are like this out there & how many others have passed because of this crap right here.

First time they told me I was just having an anxiety attack and they told me to go home and take some paracetamol (for anxiety...?). Don't remember what exactly happened the other two times but ended up being sent home both times. It wasn't until the fourth time they finally took me seriously and did an echo on my stomach and tested my blood. Finally got treated but was on the brink of death for a couple days. It was traumatizing to say the least.

When the officers were told that was the case they literally took off from the scene leaving my husband and his coworkers there to try and explain to this man why he had been beaten since generally those coming out of this type of episode will have no memory of it.

We knew that something was seriously wrong with our mom but no one listened…BUT a day or two after this “anxiety attack “ the doctor performed a scan of my mom’s heart and chest….and we were then told that our mom had a HEART ATTACK while she was sitting on the bedside!!!!

I tried to do all i could since my mom and stepsister were the first tier of mourning and i tried to take as much off their plate as i could. Most people overlook me entirely or just want to talk about my disability which puts me off. Whether or not she was “faking it” I feel like it’s better to be safe than sorry! Take people to the hospital when they vocalize their concerns!

You missed the part where TWO separate hospitals kicked her out and and said she was fine, and wanted her removed from the property, the “medical professionals” need to be reprimanded immediately

The Hospital is what started this. I hope there are no punitive damage caps and I hope her family gets millions. Those doctors do not deserve to practice medicine ever again

Sad to say, these cops trusted the hospital, not one, but two hospitals, with supposed medical professionals, mind you; who told them there was nothing wrong with her. Even so, these police officers could have had a little bit of compassion for her, instead they acted like total jerks! How would they feel if their grandmother had been treated like that? I hope they never forget how they behaved while this helpless person was dying in their care. And that they never do that to somebody else again. I hope the family Sues both hospitals! This should never have happened!
