Why would a foster child be placed in the home of someone with serious mental health issues?
We have a shortage of foster families and adoptions - declining every year. For anyone reading this, please consider helping children in need of housing.
She's only formally diagnosed with depression and bipolar, that's definitely not enough to prevent her from adopting/fostering. She clearly has something much more serious and the psychologist that diagnosed her made a quite big oversight.

I live in Ohio like that woman and I agree. Cps especially in the county I’m dealing with, sucks at protecting children.

This is a crazy comment. NOT everyone that has mental illnesses, specifically bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, are monsters like this woman. It’s unfair to use her diagnosis and say “everyone that is bipolar and/ or schizophrenia has NO rights to be able to foster kids”. People who have no mental illnesses hurt their foster, biological and adopted children. This women’s actions are beyond horrific and sick BUT that doesn’t mean the next individual with said illnesses is going to kill children (or anyone).

I had to look up how she got hold of Darnell. She wasn't a foster parent, so to speak. So, his mama abused him, and his grandparents took him in. They were "having trouble handling" him, whatever that might mean, and Pammy was a trusted family friend who had helped them with Darnell. Then, Pammy and her husband somehow got legal guardianship, probably with the grandparents and/or mother's consent. Poor little boy never stood a chance.
Many only take kids in for the check. It's disgusting.
Far too many people having babies they don't want, but act like they don't know birth control exists. Shouldn't be laying up with people the way they do to begin with... Zero self respect.

I never understood parents that keep their kids from eating! My kids had the whole bottom drawer in my refrigerator. Easy access to healthy snacks and drinks.
I hid food when I was 10-11 years old. I don't have excuse for what I did but the reason was that my mum kept giving me plain sandwich of cheese and bread and I hated it so much and she wouldn't change it, but they discovered because of the smell and my parents really got angry at me teaching me about wasting food but I've never expected a kid would die by her own mother for the same thing I did. My parents just made "bully" silly jokes about what I did but.. It's terrible really

@@kimdoes32 The concept of a child “stealing” food used to be mainstream in Europe and the US too. It was a function of making sure everyone got their fair share: one person eating a lot meant someone else not getting enough. But innthis day and age, the hairs in the back if my neck always go up, especially cincerning a country like the US where food is so abundant, when I hear someine talk about a child “stealing” or “hiding” food.
I had a Nigerian friend who, as a teen, was given some sort of personality test. (It may have been to do with a scholarship.) It asked whether he had ever sneaked downstairs at night and stolen food from the fridge.
He was bewildered. At the time, he lived in the village “boys hut”, for which the mothers took turns cooking. There was no electricity yet in their little hamlet.
The rules about stealing food in his district were these: if a woman or child was travelling, they could take food from a field they were passing and cook it or take it away to eat it. But if a man was travelling, he had to make a fire and eat it there by the road.

My son eats all the snacks, even mine that I try to hide. He's even started eating my snacks that I buy that he doesn't even like and I barely even scold him. It's mostly cause I worry about all the junk he's eating

It's not really about eating or snacks, it's about not viewing the child as a full human being of equal value to themselves. A lot of these parents that do this are very mentally unwell and have severe anger issues (not that they don't know what they're doing, but their perception of right and wrong is so distorted) and they just see children as things to be controlled. When that thing doesn't do as told, these parents have blackouts and go into a rage

In high school I had a bf who had younger siblings and the youngest was 4 years old. Their mom would leave them alone for weeks while she was on a binge and eventually I noticed that the kids would never say they were hungry because if they did, they got hit. Dinner was a 2 liter Pepsi and a bag of Doritos if they were lucky. Eventually CPS took over.

I absolutely don't condone the abuse of any child, let alone murder. But consider this, she's obviously totally broken, and you aren't. Perhaps you might take a minute from time to time to feel a little grateful that you are whole, and your kids are likely to grow up safe and loved. I bet this woman never wished to end up as the mess she clearly is.
If she actually does have schizophrenia, that's a big deal, and even if she doesn't, on a single day she forever ruined her past present and future. I'm betting no decent person ever befriends her and she will be treated with cruelty more than kindness in jail, where she;ll be for a long, long time. I also have to wonder, if she was truly schizophrenic, how was she a foster parent?

@@muchtested Yeah, I hear the medication makes people feel unwell physically, so they take it until the schizophrenia symptoms reduce and then they stop taking the meds. Then the schizophrenic symptoms return, there's some kind of crisis and they get back on the meds.
I don't believe there is a cure and it doesn't go away on it's own, If only we had the money and the interest in ongoing, somewhat intensive, supervision of these people. I bet we could avoid a lot of really gruesome horror stories.

It horrifies me that she is likely to get a shorter sentence because she will use mental illness to try to explain her behavior. Even seeing people using mental illness here as a reason.
As a parent, as someone who takes on legal responsibility for a child, it is your responsibility, your sacred duty to protect that child; even from yourself. That includes getting help if you are getting even close to being out of control. At times it means admitting that you may not be fit to care for your child for a time.
Children need to stop being sacrificed under the guise of mental illness.

Some 40 years ago I had a 3 year old foster son who used to stash food under his pillow. I didn't kill him and he eventually stopped when he realized he was going to be fed regularly.

It’s not too uncommon for children to stash snack wrappers. This child probably knew he had to hide the wrappers or there would be consequences for eating (not for the stashing part). 😢

There seems to be a sick pervasiveness in such horrific demonic crimes that are being. If we know about these crimes, there are so many other atrocities that are happening to innocent victims and children that we are unaware of. This must stop!!
