    Hi, nice video! just need to know any alternative for vegetable shortening?

    • @BakeItWithLove
      @BakeItWithLove  6 лет назад +1

      In this case, no, I do not have an alternative for the vegetable shortening (which I also use with my marshmallow fondant recipe) but I will look and see what I can find!

    I heard that glycerine is also used for skin ......

    or it is the same
    because wen I went to shop....glycerin was available,,,BT wen I asked shopkeeper whether we get a different food glycerine he had no idea of that
    plz tell me

    • @BakeItWithLove
      @BakeItWithLove  6 лет назад +1

      It is a food grade glycerin vs the skin product type that is available. I order mine on amazon :)

    must I put light corn syrup, what if I use gelatine, glucose and icing sugar is it bad and what type of coloring we talking about is it powdered or liquid

    • @BakeItWithLove

      For this recipe, yes, everything that is listed is needed for the fondant to turn out correctly. Thanks!

    Hello, I've used the marshmallow fondant. I find it too sweet. Is this recipe less sweet?

    • @BakeItWithLove
      @BakeItWithLove  6 лет назад +1

      I do prefer the taste/flavor of fondant (without marshmallows) but they they are both sweet since they both use quite a bit of confectioners sugar. However, I like to add vanilla and almond extract to this recipe for what I think is my best tasting fondant. Hope that helps!

    Hi! Thanks for the clear instructions. Sorry for the silly question. Can this fondant be used to cover the cake or is it just for modelling figurines? In india, i bought fondant online, but it was awful, so wanted to try your recipe and make a sample cake before I move on to the big project my Nephew's first birthday cake. And also If I want to color the fondant, when is the best time to add gel coloring. Please note its very humid in my place most of the time.
    Thanks a lot in advance.

    • @BakeItWithLove
      @BakeItWithLove  6 лет назад +4

      Nothing is ever a silly question :) And yes, this is perfect for covering cakes with. This size batch of fondant will cover a 2 layer cake (square or round) between 8-10 inches pretty easily. It works equally well with modelling figurines too! You can add color to your fondant while making it, before adding the confectioners sugar. Or you can add the gel coloring once the fondant is made and to the right consistency. Add the gel coloring in small amounts on a surface of the fondant, then fold and twist until the coloring is incorporated (see it here in my other video how to color fondant ruclips.net/video/LzO9Eiqf3WQ/видео.html ). Hope that helps! Have fun with your Nephew's birthday cake!!

      BakeItWithLove Hi! I tried your method but didn’t work out. What could be the problem? It’s not stretchy, what am I doing wrong? Thanks

    • @BakeItWithLove
      @BakeItWithLove  6 лет назад +2

      Is it cracked and dry appearing? Or does it appear smooth, but is still not very elastic? In this case, could you please pull a portion apart and tell me how many inches it takes for it to break apart. Let me know, and I will watch closely for your reply! Angela

    Hi, can I use golden corn syrup?

    • @BakeItWithLove
      @BakeItWithLove  6 лет назад +2

      I would think that you could, although golden syrup is about 1/4 sweeter in flavor than light corn syrup. Also, light corn syrup is made with real vanilla and will have that flavor vs a more molasses type flavor in the golden syrup. If I had golden syrup here at home, I'd give it a test run for you but I *think* it will be OK.
      Another thought is that you may have an issue getting a really white fondant. If you need help with getting it white let me know. If you will be coloring it, no worries!
      If you do try it, please let us know how it goes! angela@bakeitwithlove.com

    • @KR-vm6es
      @KR-vm6es 6 лет назад +1

      BakeItWithLove thank you for replying, i will be doing in red so color is not a issue but as you said the flavor and it will be more sweeter hmmmm I will let you know if I try this.

      It's all sugar anyway, I would just add a fair portion of vanilla (TBSP). Good luck!!

    Please what did you mix sugar with?

    • @BakeItWithLove

      The confectioners sugar is mixed with the wet ingredients (glycerin and gelatine), please see the written instructions on the website as they provide step-by-step instructions. Thanks!

    • @BakeItWithLove
      @BakeItWithLove  6 лет назад +1

      I use Knox unflavored gelatine (the most commonly found brand in the US, in the baking aisle or next to jello products). There are other brands like perfectagel, but you are just looking for gelatine/gelatin sheets. Hope that helped! Thanks :)

      Hey there, thanks alot replying so quickly ))) yes... im using marshmellow one all tje time, but i wanted to try different recipe because marshmellow one seems to be cracking alot when im covering cake ((( ( elephant skin). Maybe im doing something wrong , will watch ur video. Thank u

    • @BakeItWithLove
      @BakeItWithLove  6 лет назад +2

      Hi Kateryna, when having cracking issues with marshmallow fondant...a) make sure to use LOTS of vegetable shortening when coating your finished fondant (before storing for the 12-24 hours of rest time)...b) don't roll your fondant out too thinly...and c) use cornstarch for your working surface vs confectioners sugar (it doesn't dry out the fondant as much). Let me know if you've already tried all of these :)

    Hi
    Just want to know how to use this homemade fondant to make figures?1 example would help.
    Can i reduce quantities to make a small batch just to give it a try?

    • @BakeItWithLove
      @BakeItWithLove  6 лет назад +2

      I do use this fondant for flowers and figurines, however, I do not have any videos of the figures made yet. There are a few ways that I make my roses that are here in the channel here ruclips.net/video/tR_GZj5ADLc/видео.html and here ruclips.net/video/iogcbsFMCLM/видео.html
      You can reduce or increase the quantities to make any size batch you desire (the recipe card on the website has an adjustment slider to do this for you). Enjoy!

    • @BakeItWithLove

      Yes, you definitely need the glycerin for this classic fondant recipe. If you don't have glycerin available, use our marshmallow fondant recipe (see the video here ruclips.net/video/_iWkRnaK_4o/видео.html ). Hope that helps :)

    • @BakeItWithLove

      Typically, I say to store wrapped in cling film and then bagged or closed in an airtight container - for up to two weeks max. However, when kept at relatively cool temps the fondant does last longer...1 month maybe, but not 6 months. Thanks for asking!

      The link to glycerin (available on amazon here amzn.to/2sJFSb4 ) is in the details. The glucose is typically in grocery stores here as Karo light corn syrup and found where your breakfast items would be with the maple syrup products (but it is also available on amazon here amzn.to/2Fq1VXV ).

    As I didn't have many of the ingredients you mentioned, I kind of adapted your recipe to a more available version:
    -750g icing sugar (900mL)
    -62.5g water (62.5mL)
    -12g gelatin powder (15ml, three/four teaspoons)
    -125.5 glucose (85mL) (you just need sugar and water here's a tutorial ruclips.net/video/li01kYG36z4/видео.html )
    -22g butter/margarine (23mL) (instead of using glycerin+shortening, reduce both ingredients to butter)
    I followed the same process and I ended up just having fondant, exact same fondant, tastes like fondant, feels like fondant. However it dries up quickly so preserve it well.

    • @BakeItWithLove
      @BakeItWithLove  6 лет назад +2

      When I don't want to use glycerin, I just use my marshmallow fondant recipe here ruclips.net/video/_iWkRnaK_4o/видео.html
      You will get a much more workable and stable fondant than trying to alter other recipes :)

      Use a hot water bath that your container holding the gelatine can set into. Once the gelatine has bloomed, set the container into the hot water bath to liquefy, stirring until smooth. Have fun making your fondant!
