As someone who collected Castle sets as a child, these new sets are pretty amazing with the modular designs. This actually connects to a previous set (the red colored castle) from the year before as well.
I really hope they do another one with more than just the 2 sets that connect together, and hopefully pieces to fill in the middle.
Man, I wish lego went back to a more standard fantasy theme. They could still do the standard medieval stuff but also have more room to work

My buddy and I used to make wargames from my albeit limited selection of lego castle stuff, as a grown up lego collector who sticks mostly to starwars at present id struggle if they released pirate or castle lego again.

I love this line, for some reason.
I loved when Lego released another wave of castle sets. Although it was nice to get the castle theme back, it lacked the spirit of the classic late 80ies/early 90ies installments. Therefore my wish to you: if you can make it somehow possible to get hold of these classic castle sets, I would love to watch your reviews of them! Kind regards from Germany

the best era of Lego castle sets for sure.
The 2010 Kingdoms sets are also pretty good. But with the 2013 stuff, it really started to go downhill..
Now we have Nexoknights.. Yay

LEGO King's Castle was my first ever LEGO set, I got it for my birthday and spent 3 whole days building it non-stop, I got EVERY single set in the LEGO Castle Series from 2013, I really loved the Castle Series and the Kingdom series, in 2013 I got the Kingdom series set "Kingdoms Joust" it was an amazing set and I had so much fun building it. I really miss the Kingdom and Castle series, would you mind reviewing the LEGO Castle series from 2007? You're actually the reason I started animating/using LEGO. Thank you so much Jang for these reviews!
i remember way before 2013 my mom bought me something like this. i was in like 3rd grade, and we were walking down the lego section in target and she let me buy it! it was like 100 dollars and i was SOOO happy
That's really a beautiful build. Compared to the usual lego castle
This looks like a modern remake of the original 1980's King's Castle set. Cool seeing the classic design updated and modularized.
I really like how this castle is modular. Every other castle I've seen is either open on one side or closed yet small, but none of them are this fancy! Also, it comes with an "invincible" dragon knight!
man... i wish lego could produce this "classic" series again. when i was a kid i didn't have money to buy, but i had a catalogue, inside there was this kind of séries, some, indiana Jones kind of series, and samurai series. I hope lego will produce then again someday

I think it would have been cool if the big gate also worked as a prison cell/secret chest room so when you would pull up the door it would go up into the room creating bars that protected a prisoner/treasure 👍🏻
It makes sense for it be fast, imagine the attackers being suddenly blocked by the portcullis! :)

I agree strongly that the door in the back is a "weak point." as soon as I saw this....dude, the castle planner was sleeping on the job.
The castle looks great, but its design is very identical to the 2010 LEGO Kingdoms Castle set.
well cadtles would be designed like this nothing like the ones you may find in the Shogun era
And if you have the 2010 King's castle (the one with the red trim) it will connect to this one the same as the Gatehouse Raid set does.
Has giant porticulus and draw bridge on the front and has a tiny wooden door on the back. SMART!
sometimes if the back side is situation near the edge of a cliff or river, It wouldn't need much defense :)

Well there could be a way to make a gold sword that is effective, first of all it cant be pure gold I'd mix it with bronze. Then I'd do what ancient civilizations did with bronze weapons where you compress and hammer the metal to make it harder than it normally would be. Idk but it would be really neat to try.
Jang just seems to be having a ton of fun with this set...haha

well... gold is soft but it's not unlikely that the king painted his sword gold. Or he hired someone to paint it for him. So he might actually have a gold painted steel sword.
I mean it could be iron
and yes gold paint was around back then to.

Just going by color, I would say the kings crown is gold and his sword looks more like bronze which is effective for fighting.

Updated set could be more detailed with most, drawbridge, banqueting hall, kings bedroom etc. More authentic looking castle than Nexo Knights. Lego designers should go round some of the old castles.
That would require lot of more bricks, and eventually make the scale of the castle waay larger. More detail, more cost, with smaller target customers. Not what the Lego company would aim for.
Great idea but you may have to custom make it yourself. After all, isn't that true to what Lego is all about?
Nexo Knights isn't aiming for authenticity. It is aiming for originality, and it really hit the mark.
Plus, a castle tank is awesome, I dunno how people dislike it.
i wish Castle would get creative boxes, or Pirates i like very rustic builds

Part 1: The build.
The build here is nice but it lacks detail and asthetic. The catapult is just another catapult and nothing special .
Part 2 : the figures
Plain and simple this one needs more figures the fact that you only get 3 knights for a Castle is weak.
gold sword...very very soft doesn't hold an edge.

It technically it a gold tempering, a certain heat for a certain time. That's one way to put it.
In the show the golden sword is magical
Dude I found a way to fit the king in the chair with his cape!You would bend it and it should beable to let the king sit in it with his cape on.

or you can use the catapalt to break in insetead of the axe

this I think is the best in the 2013 release but where I got it from it cost waay to much
My aunt got me this same set 2 years ago and I was done with every thing except 1 part but it kept falling off so I rage quitted and destroyed the whole thing 😐.
