      Go look up what the equivalent family houses since the 80s have cost. That it's still just 60 bucks after 40 years of inflation is the true insanity.

    I miss the late 2000s early 2010s creator houses as well as city sets. Something about them combines the simple brick built sets of early lego with the somewhat modern building style of today that feels so satisfying to look at.

    This set is pretty cute. I love the greenhouse, and the kitchen is a great use of the limited space, but I feel the roof is a bit too simple. I think the design for the front lacks depth.

    This set reminds me of the creator 3 in 1 Cozy House, which don't have the car, the dog and the modularity, but has 2 awesome alternate builds, a more inspired color scheme, more pieces, can be closed and it's in the same price range. It feels like a way better deal to me, to be honest

  • @cruxdeluxe
    @cruxdeluxe Год назад +11

    5:50 yes, yeeesss! THAT is the kind of modularity we want! We've seen that in the very recent Friends-tower as well, which then connects beautifully to the communal kitchen. That is fantastic! Make EVERYTHING modular, all the modules, forever! I wonder if these modules could even interconnect with the Friends-modules?
    (Basically - "Blacktron Was Right", and I kind of want that on a T-shirt)

    I love this modular thing that is going on, although these houses still seem only facades to me (yeah, I know, there are worse sets, this is kind of nice). Not in this case, but sometimes we can only guess the suggested function of a "room" by a small piece or a sticker.

    It's great to see a throwback to the Classic Town sets, with a modern take. The old ones all had BBQs, outdoor seating and mailboxes, so it's a bit sad to see the outdoor area is either path/driveway or off-plate with the football. But overall, I love this. Edit: just realized the conservatory has one open wall to the side, so I guess that's semi-outdoor. Kind of.

    The fact that we see minifigs in city sets seeming to age by decades between sets released mere years apart implies that minifigs age faster than humans, at a rate more comparable to a large dog.

    Jang, given your work history, you may have a bit of knowledge regarding printing. If we are on the same page, LEGO may not always run a "second strike" of white when they are printing over color. They are cutting corners and and only printing one pass.

    I like the modular arrangements. This would be a great set to sell as two separate smaller sets. Make the car and garage a $20-$25 dollar set and the main house a $35-$45 set. You could make a bunch of little $10-$15 modules to make a bunch of addirions

    Beautiful house set! I love all the greenery, the overall colour scheme and interior details with some new pieces in my collection❤ And I'm super happy to have those countryside like buildings back in City series instead of square town buildings like police station, fire station, etc
    Agreed it's overpriced, but I got it brand new for 28$ just a few days ago, so I believe it's a good deal for this set😊
    Keep up the good work, JANG!✊

    Adding this to my list, mostly for those minifigs, but also because a house or two would be nice for my city. Wonder how easy it would be to double this up and make something a little more reasonable, size-wise. Also wonder if this could connect to the new Apartment building set.

  • @kentslocum
    @kentslocum Год назад +1

    I really appreciate the modular system-within-a-system that LEGO is using for some of these CITY and Friends sets. I just hope that they continue this trend, including with any future fire and police stations. How cool would it be to stack an apartment on top of a jail cell?

  • @dgray3771
    @dgray3771 Год назад

    My nitpick would be the offset that exists in this set with the flowerbed. It gives the set +2 studs. Which means you need to put an extra 8x8 plate of road to get the house flush to the street. That is if you want it along the road with the current road system. Again you need to invest with a set to get this to work. I got similar issues with the apartment building where you got that bike road plate. And sure you get the connection tiles. But where are you supposed to connect it? Since the bike lanes in all sets are inset 2 studs from the road.

    One, yes way too expensive. Two, yes still all too rare of a type of set for Lego City and kinda necessary for actually having a cityscape or just a more stand alone build in a non professional layout that kids will realistically have. Three, love how the Modular system of buildings has only continued to increase and expand over the years across multiple series. And four, PUBBY PUBBY PUBBY, BABY GUD BOI, SCHMOL DOGGO, PUPPER, PUPPO, BEHBEH DOGI, WIDDLE BABY FLOOOOOF!
    So therefore yeah, 7.5/10. Too much price hike.😅💕🐕
