    I'm glad they've really started making buildings. That aren't just police stations

    I really hope city sticks with the style when it comes to their buildings because this is the kind of stuff I want to collect.

    • @stuchly1
      @stuchly1 Год назад +22

      Agreed. I hope they stick with it for a few years at least so that multiple different modules can be parts of official sets, to be mixed and matched.

    Looks like a nice set but right off the bat, $95 is INSANE for this amount of stuff as well as the part count. Looks like $50 at most

    I'm quite impressed by the TV design and bathtub design. They look great! I definitely think this is the best city interior. Does that mean it has a great interior? Nope but it is adequate.

  • @stuchly1
    @stuchly1 Год назад +27

    Great review once again.
    I really appreciate how you didn't just dismiss the empty feeling of the interiors because having space for minifigures is important for play too.
    I really really like the look of this set, I hope lego continues on this note going forward. This easily customizable theme is really good in my opinion and the sets look much better than they used to when I was a kid as well.
    The decorative facade with the truangle tiles was a fun element too.

    @defenderprime8046 Год назад +20

    It's very nice that you can combine this set with the other one you previously reviewed, Jang, you would get one big appartement and all the stores that you need to make a small city block, really cool.

  • @Mike__B
    @Mike__B Год назад +19

    That slushy machine is absolutely brilliant, but does seem a bit pricey considering the lack of detail in some of the rooms, like come on an extra 4 or 5 pieces would go a long way in something like that bedroom. The bathtub is a very nice build, lovely bar of soap on the end, bottle of shampoo/bubble bath looks great but then "here's a rectangle bed in this room, enjoy". The infinity pool/jacuzzi doesn't seem to fit the build, and could have been a place to get pieces to decorate the rooms more.

    This is an extremely small nit-pick, but it bothers me that this set only has two trash cans (dark bluish gray and lime green), when LEGO literally released a Recycling Truck set in this wave of CITY sets that had a three-can recycling station setup (dark bluish gray, lime green, and dark azure). Why couldn't they have included a dark azure can, to match the other set?

  • @saturday.avenue
    @saturday.avenue Год назад +12

    ..had the Lego Group been releasing these super-cool, interchangeable modular City designs 10 years ago, I may have gone this route for city building as opposed to collecting the modulars! Fantastic designs & absolutely genius concept. Keep it up, Lego!

    I assume the emptiness of the modules is so that they are all accessible to a minifigure in the mobility scooter. Cool to see Lego continuing to use the modular system.

    I love this year's modularity attempt in lego (both in this and in the Dreamzzz Sets). I can't stress enough how good it is if you have modules that can be combined with other sets or interchanged like this - this is a thing they kinda forgot of late (I am remembering how fun the old Space ships were - you had a BIG one that could be endlessly portioned and combined - sad they never tried to combine them more, but seems they finally came to this idea

    It hasn't escaped my attention that that innocuous art-piece on the side of the building actually has the Blacktron-logo repeatedly hidden inside of it (although in white and green, but you know, camo?). JANG, I would very much appreciate it if you could attempt to mix and match some modules from this set with that of the other City-set -and- the Friends-tower (okay, and maybe a HP-module or two?), but also, if you please, with the original Blacktron Ravager.
    It would just make me so very, very happy. We all thought Blacktron were the bad guys, but all they really wanted us all to go modular.

  • @Angrist17
    @Angrist17 Год назад +2

    I'm liking this as a parts pack. I like the colors and the large number of window pieces. Lends itself to a custom skyscraper/modern building modular. Same with the other recent City sets. I want 2-3 or each to build other things with. But they're all a little on the pricey side still. hopefully we see some good discounts eventually.
    As a set, the 8x16 module trend feels good when I see it. Nice commonality, plenty of opportunity to mix and match between sets. Could you make a video with this set, the Family House, Downtown core, and any of the other similar sets that you have all together? It be interesting to see how well they look/play together. Thanks!

    While I don't mind about the empty spaces, what I do mind is that there aren't enough doors! I have seen LEGO buildings without stairs, OK, but without doors!? I mean, how are you supposed to go from one room to another in the same floor if in between there is a wall?
    Overall, I like the modularity and variety of these late City sets n_n With a little bunch of pieces more, one could customize these buildings with more details and functions, something I like to do with many of the sets I have n_n

  • @greenhill004
    @greenhill004 Год назад +1

    I like the color blocking of the store. The azure and green lime looks really nice together. The kitchen needs a houseplant. The bedroom needs a table or lamp. The fact the detail is lacking is really bad considering the price. The sofa might be lacking but the TV build looks really good. The patio / pool area needed a 1x4 plate.
    As I'm writing all that it seems lacking detail for the price, but looks pretty good.
    If it's 85 Euro it should be $80. I'm sick of sets being overpriced for the Americas.

    • @piotr78
      @piotr78 Год назад

      Can you explain that last part? €85 = $92

  • @grizzly._.
    @grizzly._. Год назад +1

    They could've literally included 20-30 more small pieces to add so much detail (a sofa with side supports, 2 pieces, a nightstand and lamp for the bed, 5 pieces maybe, and so on). Considering how much they ask for so few pieces, this should've had more detail.

  • @fluffnose3386
    @fluffnose3386 Год назад +1

    I can usually look past the lack of doors / stairways in City sets, but this set takes that to a whole new level. There is literally a balcony with no door, and the living room and bathroom also have no door between. I appreciate that City is releasing all these buildings, but this one definitely is not where its at. The lack of detail in the rooms and the fact that its only 1 apartment is a real miss, and so is that price.

  • @GlowingTrashPanda99
    @GlowingTrashPanda99 Год назад

    Part of me kinda wants to see someone MOC it by getting two, set one up in a slightly altered version of the second configuration that you did with the bathrooms flipped 90 degrees and stacked on top of each other and over the bins area (both combined to make an alley), then mirror it in the second set with the apartment rooms flipped so you have two separate open floor-plan apartments with everything on the same floor, and join the bike paths into one on just one side. Would work best with a few mods on the side walls to make them solid walls with a doorway into the bathroom and a few pieces added to make it look full (stock the store more, add more apartment decor, maybe switch the pools out for a basic elevator for granny, etc), but I think that would work pretty well. If found for a decent enough discount it would make for a much better city addition.

    This set is really well done. I've never seen a LEGO bathtub before, and it's great.
    I like the mobility scooter too. Some good parts to have there as well.
    Around 100 doesn't look terrible for this. It has sizable bulk to it. Of course a discount would be great!
    Interiors are a little lacking. Thankfully that can be modified easily enough with a few parts from one's own collection.
    Yes, kids should be encouraged to modify, customize, and even completely rebuild their sets! Why did LEGO stop putting alternate model suggestions on the box? At least this one having modules and giving suggestions for alternate setups is a step in the right direction.

    Are Lego reviewers generally criticized for being biased if they have been sponsored by the company? Dozens of tech, game, and even shoe reviewers are sponsoreed but they explicitly state as such *and* detail that "these are my own opinions" etc...

    • @piotr78
      @piotr78 Год назад +3

      I believe that if you get (all) items you review for free that it is harder to accurately "feel" if something is worth the price. Then there is the problem of reviewers feeling they need to be more positive towards products because that will get them more future stuff for review.
      Not saying that all sponsored reviewers can't be trusted, but not being sponsored eliminates a lot of potential issues.

    • @JJTheDev
      @JJTheDev Год назад +1

      I think jang talked about how he wants to go through the process we would do (trying to buy the products at stores, wait for shipping, not getting things early, etc) when it comes to purchasing these sets.
      there's nothing inherently wrong with getting products for free, and it can really help with financial burden, but that's also important to consider if making reviews specifically for purchase support like Jang does (not that you can't when sponsored, it's just not as "genuine").
      it's a case of "what's the goal with the video", for Jang it's helping people decide if the value is worth it, while others may just be focused on informing people about the contents of a set and let them decide based on the extra info.
