I have the same lens hood on my x100vi and it’s a great hood but no, you can’t focus up close without the lens having an error due to it touching the uv filter
The only bad thing is the black protective material inside the metal lens cap will leave sticky residue on the lens hood and the material will eventually come off. You can overcome this by buying a regular 49mm lens cap.
@@xhynetuseinovski From the day I got it. I noticed sticky residue on the sides of the lens hood, then noticed the black felt peeling off inside the lens cap.
Esthetically it is nice, but I hate to add an accessory that reduces camera capability. The reason for a square hood in my opinion and not this kind but the tapered ones is not to block the built in flash. If you want to add lighting, even just light fill, the bottom of the frame will be blocked.
This Lenshood causes autofocus errors. The autofocus mechanisms bumps into the filter. Maybe it is just mine, although you can find others with the same issue. Don't buy

It will cause the autofocus error every time the lens hunts for focus unfortunately
Can you focus close up objects with this?
Yes you can
