I have the LensMate thumb rest with the hinge. I am really happy with it so far. The hinge does make accessing the shutter speed dial much easier. only con is that it a hair to big vertically in my opinion in that it impedes the ability to to press the all/afl button and turn the rear command dial. you can still press/turn them, but it is more of an effort. I find myself pulling back the thumb rest when I want to use them. side note - I relocated shutter speed to the front command dial to alleviate this issue.
Interesting! I didn't realize the LensMate version was that much larger. I have one on order, so I'll know soon whether I'm sticking with it or the Haoge
Thanks for the video! The funny thing is...I already have all this great accessoires (Haoge lens hood, thumb grip, Tiffen filter, camera strap, a set of batteries) for the X100VI but I'm still waiting for the camera. 😂
Hahaa that's what happened to me too! I ordered the goodies and they all came first. Stoked for you to get your hands on this camera, it's a ton of fun!
I have both the Hoage thumb grip and the JJC, which is cut so it doesn’t block the dial or buttons. The JJC though isn’t as tight in the flash mount. As far as hoods go I’ve just opted for the rather meh Fuji round style from JJC. Super inexpensive but what it lacks in style it makes up for in ease. Securely pops on and off in a flash and makes filter changes a snap. All the various square hood options are either flimsy like you point out in the NISI one or are more tedious to change.
I appreciate the video. You may want to have a look at why soft release buttons exist, as they aren’t just for pleasing aesthetics, and there are specific ways to use them. Some find they may prefer the very small sort Inc e they’re using it correctly. Thanks for the video.
i agree, putting a lens cap is unnecessary if you already have a filter and a lens hood like haoge on the camera. i hate lens caps honestly and i only put them on when im putting a lens away in my bag. just another thing to fiddle with and have to think about when shooting.
I put a 1/4 CTO on the flash and use it. You didn’t mention that the camera has a leaf shutter and can sync at very high speeds no problem. I couldn’t help thinking that a couple of your kid photos might have benefited from just a pop of flash. Doesn’t that larger lens hood get in the way of the viewfinder?
Finally got my hands on one! Are you gonna do the "how I shoot/what settings I use" video? Totally new to fujij so would love to see how you have yours set up!
Amazing content again. I have subscribed to your channel and I have the bell on… how many cameras do you have to film or take pictures of? Since I have seen your channel for a while I am curious how many you have, like a lot of videos are made on this channel
As far as large cameras go, just the A7Siii for video, A7IV for photo, and now this to capture my personal life. When it comes to action cameras and drones though, I do have quite a few on that shelf behind me!🤣
I finally have my pre-ordered X100VI. I do also own a Sony A7 IV. My question is: Does the Fuji X100 VI have the Soft Skin Effect, like the Sony A7IV???? Please can you check on it? I can't find it on the X100VI.
On the Fuji X100 VI, it doesn’t specifically have a soft skin effect, but you can reduce clarity, which is essentially doing the same thing. That’s one of the small edits I do in post though because when you turn down clarity in camera, it slows down the processing speed. So I shoot at Clarity 0, bring my whole batch into Lightroom, drop the Clarity slider to -10 and then bam, I get the same effect without ever slowing down my shooting speed
Love these videos! New sub here, got a few questions: 1. Are you related to Mark Rober? :) 2. Do you need the Fuji adapter to mount the new lens hoods?
Stoked you're here Richard! Nope! And no adapter needed for the hoods! There's a thin ring that screws off the Fuji and the hoods screw right onto that👍
I got the Haoge hood so it wouldn’t block the viewfinder. I have a peak design clip and sling bag and was thinking of using it but I’m thinking the plate will block the battery door? I already have 2 batteries so I guess I’ll not always use it or have to get another bracket to make the camera bigger. These things are like GoPros with all the accessories 😂
I have the capture clip plate on and I can confirm that it blocks the battery door. I’m considering getting the smallrig L-shape grip so that i can access the battery.
I recommended another lens hood. Why have you deleted my recommendation? Is it since you fear it will hurt the affiliate links and you don’t really want to help people, just make profit?
David excellent video, waiting for my VI to arrive, question, the Battery charger, so it seems to come with also 2 of the batteries that fit the camera however, the price is crazy low, one of these batteries at my local camera store is $68.00, am I missing something here?
I know it sounds crazy, but that's sort of always the case with OEM batteries. The pricing makes no sense compared to what you can get aftermarket. For my A7Siii and A7IV, I have the batteries that came with them and then the rest are Ulanzi batteries for a fraction of the price and the same performance. Baffles me as well!
@@DavidManningvlogisn’t there a risk of voiding the warranty when using non OEM batteries? Also in my experience with Canon batteries they take hundreds of recharges. I’d only trust Duracell as a non OEM brand as I think they offer some form of insurance
I keep things pretty simple on the color grading side. I shoot a Sony A7Siii with a Rec709 lut, then a bit of teal and orange, a few tweaks in the curves panel, and that's it. I may make a Short breaking it down

@@DavidManningvlog I get my cam yesterday, but need accessoires 🙂. It is not possible ship to germany the squarespace stuff.
a lot of people are having issues with screwing on lens hoods that used to be flush on the x199v but don't fully get flushed on the x100vi
Can confirm the Haoge and Nisi work great👍

This was really helpful. Was able to order a lot of these before my x100vi arrives in a couple of days.
Thanks!
Niiice 👍🤟 this is the kind of video that makes me, wanna quit my job, buy the stuff and go become a photographer 🙏😅
Love this idea🤣
Brilliant video again I don’t even do photography anymore and I watch you all the time. Fantastic you explain things in such good detail.👍🏻👍🏻
why not bro? keep it up.

I just ordered my x100vi yesterday, i wonder if i'm even gonna get it this year
2026 for you
Did you get yours yet? I put an order in with my local camera shop on Oct.31 and just got the call today that it's ready for me!
Nice stuff. So this video was sponsored by Square space and Clever Co

Great video. Been waiting four months for my 100VI. Would you recommend using the black mist 1/8 as an everyday filter over a clear filter?

Yep, blocks the battery door. I'm surprised they didn't relocate that bottom screw on the X100VI. Probably my only real con I have on this camera
Heya! I was just wondering with the Haoge lens hood do you have the same problem of it not being 'straight' when you fully tighten it?
I love the Clever supply co. Todd is the bomb!
I recommended another lens hood. Why have you deleted my recommendation? Is it since you fear it will hurt the affiliate links and you don’t really want to help people, just make profit?
So many RUclipsrs are doing the same thing. You can always tell which ones are getting free stuff.
What lens hood did you recommend?
Can I get that recommendation as well please?

These seem like very useful accessories, thanks for sharing.
Does the Hoege hood cause vignetting. Compared to the original hood from Fuji.
Nope, no vignetting at all
4:14 JJC has a hood with an even narrower (circular) opening and there´s no vignetting.
he really loves brass
Accurate
The lens hood from YC Onion is the only lens hood I know that doesn't require any screwdriver to screw it on. Thank me later
second try :D how did you colour grade this video?

what aspect ratio is this?:) thx
I’ve the same Hoage hood and my lens cap doesn’t fit over it… it’ll kinda go on at an angle… does yours fit all the way over?
Ignore me just found the Hoage X54B hood which is compatible. It must be slightly bigger than the x100vi Fuji hood.
is the flash TTL?
Camera straps with rivets are a poor second to straps with proper stiching
What is the info on that flash?

glimmerglass is better than promist ... to me
