The story is what makes this more than a great game. I spent maybe 70hrs on the Director's Cut because I took my time and read everything and talked to everyone to connect the dots as I played. I even wrote copious notes capturing every little detail. The ideas and stories in this game are far richer and more intelligent than what it gets credit for sadly.
Well, all the cryptic emails have clues about who is writing that email and where. Even the email addresses give you some information. If you keep tabs on all that stuff you get a pretty good picture about who is manipulating who, and who is manipulating the manipulators, etc. Stuff that you would not get by just speedrunning through the game or just playing for some head-tracking fun. The story is enormously detailed and it rewards you when you put in that little bit of extra effort. At least it did for me.
poshzombie well to be honest, it is alot to keep up with. But that sounds a little too try hard for me. But if you enjoyed the experience, eh to each it's own.
I still think this is one of the most underrated and overlooked games of the last generation. The atmosphere of the game alone makes it worth buying--not to mention the story, weapons, music...
+The Box That Could it's a worthy stealth game and yes, your actions affect the game world. It's like a cyberpunk Dishonored but with a more complex world and story.
+The Box That Could This is even better than Dishonored. Not that Dishonored is a bad game, it's a great game. DE:HR is just better because it has deeper story and it's an RPG.
The gameplay, visual aesthetic and music are goddam amazing, but this game dominates story above everything else. The writer's take on an augment-powered future is extremely compelling, and their treatment of the subject is incredibly thorough (what's government's role? what's the media's role? what's industry's role? how does the tech affect the economy? how does it affect social lives? how does it affect international politics? what happens to love?). Then, this game executes the story perfectly in order to put some really, really fascinating thoughts in the player's head. SPOILER: I'm especially impressed with the way they make the player experience augmentation. You die in the beginning, so you're forced into it. You see how it can save a life before the story really even kicks off. Then, you're given choices with implications that range all the way from white to black, so you can see what options are available to someone with your power. Then, at the near peak of your power fantasy, you're potentially tricked into sabotaging yourself with the "upgrade chip." The revelation that, no matter how powerful you feel as a cyber human, your body is still potentially under the control of the company who created it is really, really fascinating stuff.
'Great' is a word understated for this game. It is one of the most complete games ever. The Choices, The plot with its twists and turns, the Gameplay and above all the background score. A very addictive game which will coerce you to play again. In one word, it is "mind-blowing".
The boss battles are less flexibility and more adapting your existing tools to the situation... Boss 1; run, use the cover. use your cloak. use cannisters, use grenades. or typhoons..shoot shoot Boss 2; EMP shielding then shooting the power things, use your jump aug to jump over her, shotguns actually stun her, typhoons, speed + lung capacity while she's chasing you, use cloak, smart vision to see her while cloaked Boss 3; smartvision+laser (SO FUN), hack turret, takedown, weapons.grenades, cover
As someone who was profoundly disappointed with the original endings, I thought the extended cut DLC was pretty good. Beyond fixing a few plot holes, it most importantly gave context to everything. You get more of an idea how things happen, and you gain understanding of the Catalyst itself (the synthetic-organic stuff is completely understandable, now, rather than just coming out of nowhere). It's not perfect, and I can understand why some people wouldn't like it. I did, though.
? i was objecting to youre comment about how the boss battles are not flexible. either i can use cloaking to get behind him and shoot, or go from cover to cover having a gunfight. i can also choose if i want to spam gernades, or time my ko move correctly to take him out with one punch. now, it is true that a character, completely developed around sneak, that decided to buy no weopens and keep no ammo, will die.
I was on the computer 75% sale on steam... Big Mac or Deus Ex Director's Cut? The best $5 I ever spent.... (note: I didn't play it better, so the Director's Cut was a better bonus for me....)

You know what I don't like? I have the PC version, and the cursor is kind of wonky. If I'm hacking, I usually hit the wrong one and blow a worm or a nuke when I meant to capture. Like the borders of the buttons confuse the cursor's senses. Same thing with moving inventory around my 'backpack'. Sometimes it doesn't recognize my mouseclick, sometimes it double-selects when I click. It happens when trying to drag a body, too. Making complicated knock-out/drag combos frustrating.
the dlc missing link hints to a sequel, as in the end one of the characters says there are thousands of these black bases around the world, showing the fact that there is still work to be done. I really hope they make one, this one is one of my favorite games of all time.
Mass Effect 3 for an interactive action movie framed in the context of a galactic war, Human Revolution for a film-noir stealth game with excellent atmosphere and an intriguing story which explores multiple poltiical problems. Both portray characters very well and have astounding writing.
i hate the yellow-ish theme of deus ex. it's like they are lazy to use other color pallets. haven't seen any blue or green in this game.. the game is still great though.
I love this game. Sooooo good. In my eyes, the only thing that stops me from giving this game a 10/10 is that I really wished this game had a 3rd city to explore, have more takedown animations and what it needed mostly was alot of finishing touches. .....then I would gladly give this game a "holy shit this game is awesome /10"
"Save a prostitute from a life changing augmentation..." What the hell, Gamespot? That quest was to bust a crooked cop. This game is so much better than you make it sound.
.... except for one problem. During the conversation, when I have two options to reply and when I give the left option (corresponding to "A") has always thrown me from the game. Otherwise, as a right answer ("D") no problems. I wonder when someone else does it have the same problem?
If you enjoy a good, old-fashioned-like FPS with no focus on multiplayer, then yes this game is for you. Personally that is what I love about this game and so far it's my favorite FPS of this generation. To call it a shoot em' up game is like saying COD had an equally great single player experience to that of it's redundant multiplayer aspect. This game is instead more espionage and stealth IMO; I definately recommend this game (it was my second favorite game of 2011 after Uncharted 3).
Started a new game on hardest setting yesterday. Playing the first part reminded of what a well made game it is. They managed to combine, rpg with action so well, it really is one of the smoothest games ever made. The story is pretty good too.
I agree. An ATi Radeon HD 6870, AMD Phenom II x2 3.2GHz (Dualcore), 1TB HDD, 8GB DDR3 RAM with a decent motherboard costs around 300 to 400 (taxes excluded). And that setup is even MUUUCH better than a console.
I completed this yesterday on 360. I think its quite easy to strike a good balance between hacking, stealth and combat augmentations. By the end of the game I could pretty much hack anything and kill anyone easily enough. Very good game but the last boss was a bit of let down for me.
Yeah it does get easier especially with the augments. The difficult mode is named after the title so I'm sure they had your thoughts in mind. I've never tried it on hard so I might do just that when I finish it.
Uncharted 3 had more emphasis on the action and story and gameplay mechanics, which drew in bigger and more dynamic environments to explore. It's like with every installment they release it keeps getting better and that's why, by a slight margin, it was my personal favorite game from last year.
Well the extended cut dlc that is supposed to explain the ending and give closure is released in two days so if he was to buy it now, by the time he finishes it the dlc will already be released and he wont have to suffer with a bad ending.
This is a brilliant game which really brings back connections to its predecessor, the masterpiece of Deus ex.... The only elements I regret missing is water interaction and complexity (although its a hard move with auto rehealing and recharging of modern games...)
Reminds me of when you're a low level in fallout and you gotta sneak past people and rely on quick saves, which I like. But I think the augmentations could be a little better. Still good though
@brickbreezy The people who play Stealth games do not also camp in Shooters. Playing Stealth in a Stealth game is hard sense you have to plan your Movements and use anything in the environment.
Story goes for Deus Ex, Graphics goes for Skyrim, Atmosphere goes for Skyrim, Soundtrack & In-game songs goes to Skyrim, Choices goes for Deus Ex and I never had any issues with loading or major freezing and I have a 9500gt pc which runs it smoothly also gameplay goes for both although lame boss battles & action part fell short but stealth was really good. I played deus ex 1 (hated number 2) and loved human rev. but Skyrim had me coming back for months and still is.
Well actually, I played ME from 1 to 3 as Infiltrator. And considering that the teammates are almost entirely useless, it could be considered a 1 man game. And I'm thinking augs = similar to Biotics, in that they both give you special powers you can upgrade and unlock! But what I really meant was that both games are quite good in their own respect, I only mentioned ME because I'm recently finished a week-long start to finish of the whole series and it's all I was thinking about for awhile :P
No, the developer you are speaking of was fired from IW due to his incompetence and was then hired by Danger Close to work on the Medal of Honor title released in 2010.
I'm currently reading the Deus Ex: Icarus Effect book and it's so interesting that I may actually purchase this game. Gameplay looks kinda average, but the storyline seems interesting.
yes i know. kind of like you considering the game that actually made the FPS genre famous was wolfenstein 3D which as i've stated before came out in 1992. but no this wasn't the first FPS game made. the actual first ever FPS game on record is Maze Wars. whether it's an actual shooter or not i don't know but on record that is considered the first FPS
for people who loved this game: a new game is coming out called dishonored. i think that its going to be a lot like this game and the stealth parts will probably be better.
I got this game for bday and didnt know what to expect, it turned out being one of the best ps3 games i'v played. Its best enjoyed when you take your time and explore the locations as there is just so many options to take and things to collect. Kinda wish there was more augmentation options as i'm starting to run out :(
Okay, besides the ending and james vega, whats wrong with mass effect 3? It was an amazing game through and through. It had so many memorable moments like *spoilers* grunt's 'last stand", thane's death, and mordin and legion's sacrifice. There are few games that can make a gamer tear up when one of their favorite characters passes away. Mass effect is one of them. You get to know and love the characters. You form bonds. I wish people could see past the ending to see all the good in this game.
@TheHorrorAnthem Absolutely! The game's playtime is roughly 30 hours if you play it stealthy style - which is really cool i think. The story and the atmosphere is amazing, the game was like a good book to me which i cant take down till i reach the end.
Got this on a sale for 2 dollars on steam, almost free,I have 16 hours on it so far, I haven't been so immersed in a videogame like this for years. Is one of the best games I ever played.
Deus Ex FTW MAN,dude this game is sick, the main story twists and tons of side missions and secret side missions, upgrades, weapon upgrades and the freedom (somewhat freedom) of choice makes this game a must, not to mention the nailed voice acting and perfect models along side the random responses of some of the people you argue with makes you fell like you are talking to a real person, the cities are big and well made and have many secret areasto award you XP,you really want to but this game, you do.
Games with great multiplayer tends to be lacking in single-player. Crysis 2 and Battlefield 3 has the best multiplayer, but their single-player is seriously boring. Deus Ex on the otherhand has such an engaging story; it makes the player wanting to know more. What a great game.
Am I the only one who kinda likes the idea of bosses? It's reminds me of old skool games like Sonic or Streets of Rage where you come up face to face against a boss. It's also like a good action flick where something major happens it ends a chapter/act.
Remember the time when the cut scenes were videos whose quality was infinitely better than the game itself? ... today is totally the opposite ... amazing game, very addictive, great history ... Really worth buying ...
I have to say I quite like the game, and because the graphics aren't revolutionary or anything it runs really well even before I've bought a video card for BF3. My specs: I5 2500K 8gig RAM (1600) 120gig OCZ SSD Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 Intel graphics (onboard) I like that the character has my name. Played the original but can't remember if it was the same guy or not? Gameplay is enjoyable, graphics are nice and the sound is good. A special mention on ingame music, excellent.
I found the boss fights to be pretty easy(i played on hard) just make sure you get the all the armor upgrades so you don't get killed easily, and that's all you need against them. The stealth direction is definitely the most rewording, but i did want to start shooting people from time to time XD so forchenetly the boss fights provided just that :)
I actually bought it, been playing it for a while, I wish it was more difficult, at the beginning it was challenging but once you get used to the shooting situations you can handle them, I might start playing it on hard
I don't know whether to buy this game from the review, this dude reviews every game like every game is awesome, I wouldn't surprise to hear him review Farmville calling it beautiful and poetic
This was my first deus ex game and I absolutely loved it :) I haven't been a pc gamer for a while but consoles are a lot easier and hassle free in the way that you buy a game install it maybe and play with pcs there can be technical difficulties, settings need to be a certain way don't meet the requirements ect ect. Not saying consoles are better or vice versa but il be sticking with consoles for now.
I know what I'm talking about. The ATi Radeon HD6870 (very good card) is 200 bucks for me in my location. I am American, but I live in Germany, and that card costs 200€ here, which is around 230 dollars. Look up your facts. A good processor is around the 60 mark.
@NicholasX9 mass effect 2 is the best game i've ever played, you can spend 20 minutes just reading your damn codec to learn more about the other species because its so surprisingly interesting, then there are the tense shootouts, decisions that matter, characters/squadmates you can believe in and feel a little sad about if you get them killed or break their hearts. I stumbled into it and am just amazed at the scale of it, starts slow but builds up into the best world made in gaming.
I'm so happy about this game for two reasons: 1) I played it and lived the story of it 2) It proves that a game doesn't need great graphics to be damm awsome.. This one has good graphics but not great
@capturethelife ME being less appealing than Deus Ex: HR is a bold statement Mass Effect 1's story was deep and enthralling with awesome characters 2's story did a good job of giving the background of the things and a better background on characters, answering some questions we had at the end of 1 while introducing more deep characters & carrying forward the story to 3. ME1 was a deep rpg in 2 the rpg element takes a back seat to the shooter element but ME 2 is still deep and a great game.
Definitely one of the top games of 2011. I love the original Deus Ex games, and this is even better. I absolutely love dystopian futuristic sort of cyberpunk themed games. I can't get enough of this game.
I haven't played any of the Mass Effect games but I have played through Deus Ex: HR, and I've never experienced a game like it. I strongly recommend it.
This game got by on nostalgia. It retcons the story from the original. Being a mech is common unlike it being rare. Your mech powers also rival nano agents which makes no sense. It name drops characters for fan service. A choose your own video button ending. Horrible DLC / preorder practices, botched boss fights, eating protein bars to recharge your batteries, limiting ammo, recharging health, your choices don't really change the story. I consider the original title my all time favorite game and I was super hyped for this title. By no means horrible, but it's not the revolutionary prequel some people make it out to be.
yeah besides the bosses this game is great for stealth. but with the bosses simply stocking up of heavy weapons and you'll be fine. It's a great game and most of the stealth is third-person so it's pretty accessible.
@NicholasX9 Deus Ex definitely... I'm biased in that the original is one of my favorite games of all time but give it an hour or so to get going and I think you'll enjoy it. The tech is a little outdated in some aspects but it's an enthralling, entertaining game...
@fan977 Your kind of missing the point of why people like this game. As you put it, the game is stealth or shoot and the player can choose how to do this is the game. By that I mean one can choose augmentations to best suit their current mission and play style. In each mission, they're are multiple paths for people to use their specific strengths to their best advantage. Sure, they are better games, but people like this one because it's both and allows them to choose which it is on every mission
I really don't think they came up with the augment tree before the level's were made and it shows. There is like1area of gas&2cases of electricity in the first half of the game. It takes 4praxis to unlock the EMS shield. why would I put all those resources into those augs when it's only 2 points for jump/wall punching, heavy lifting Why do i get points for knocking people out and going into vents..the reward for doing that should be loot. Surely its harder to not knock people out.
I've only just noticed the similarities between the prologues of this and the original Witcher. In both cases, a group invade a base and steal important information. Also; both games feature enhanced protagonists. I like Geralt more though.
Just played the game and it´s a masterpiece. It´s simply the best sci fi experience of the year...and the first dlc and was a bit pricy 15 $ but i loved it. It was 6 hour of deus ex at it´s best. It was like the game, but even better. The NPC faces were much more realistic. Visuals improved, more action, good writing...and some experimental gameplay. A well paced fragment of the history, some of the best moments in the game are in the dlc.
first game i played on ps3 and the first game i finished on the ps3 and i've got to say that it's a very good game with a good story plot and features. one of the best games actually.
I don't fully agree with that. Multi platform games often feel "dumbed down" for me when I play them on pc, but mainly down to controls, and the way the AI works. Character movement often feels slugish when ported to pc. Games like the last AVP. The aliens AI were slower and easy to hit on pc compared to the older games, mainly because they have to be easier to hit on console because of the use of a joypad. Also, menu systems tend to be dumbed down so they are also easier to use with a joypad
the game was ok. but i "tried" to play the game with stealth but the machanics are so broken that i found in almost impossiable to sneak in tight spaces or small area's.
You didn't actually object- 'adapting'.u didn't get the upgrade& Boss3 wasn't a tank like Barret or flexible like Boss2 so you used a takedown. A boss is supposed to be a final exam...but it isn't b'cos all those skills i mentioned earlier are never used in gunsblazing combat as 99% of us play the game stealthily. So when Barret walks to our cover,99%of gamers don't move because thats how they played the rest of the game The criticism is right but u can make it fun. smartvision+laser 4boss3!
@Battfro Never said that the game was awful, overrated does not mean its bad it means it gets more praise than it deserves the game was still overall fun though I would give it a 7/10 but there are better games out there in the same genre imo. I will try to play through the game a second time and maybe my opinion on it will change and maybe I will like it better. No Offense taken peace out.
I love this game with a passion.I was 1 of the few people who thought deus ex invisible war was a masterpiece & obviosly the original dues ex was peerless for its time but better than mass effect?Everybody has different opinions but the mass effect trilogy is the best trilogy of games ever IMO!
-AAA voice acting -Sweet graphics -Immersive atmosphere and gameplay -Award worthy music -Awesome story Need I say more? This game is such a breath of fresh air from the copy and paste games like COD. Even with the cons, this game makes most games look like complete garbage.
@lildread1 I'm most certainly not new to gaming. I've been gaming since I could talk. And yes, I've heard of/played those games you listed. Notice I didn't says the FPS genre was bad, I just didn't say they were spectacular. That's simply my opinion. I like more story-driven games, personally, but I do not discriminate. Let's just agree to disagree, alright? Clearly, I'm not going to convince you that games are better than they ever were before, and you're not going to convince me otherwise.
So what? To me each of the mass effects has its pros and cons, and each provide ample reason to keep coming back to them. The 1st had an amazing story and heavier rpg elements. The second focused more on building a squad than overall story (which was still awesome) and improved the combat DRASTICALLY, and the third mixed the first two with more rpg elements and customization, along with the most intense combat of the series, but fewer squad members and a bad ending. But honestly, none of the...
Contentwise the best review for the game. An 8.5 would even be an acceptable rating if Gamespot didn't crown painfully inferior games (MW3) with the exact same score.
IMO, Deus Ex: Human Revolutions appeals to fans of the original Deus Ex or fans of classic FPS games like System Shock, Thief, Half-Life, not fans of modern style shooters like Gears of War, Call of Duty or Mass Effect 2 style RPGs. And I like it. Not as great as the original, but DX:HR is a worthy successor.
@JoostShino Your so right about reviewers being afraid to go against hype, it actually frustrates me so much. IGN in particular, exists only to tell everyone what they want to hear.
You seem like someone that knows this game xD 1. Is this game similar to the Fallout series? (Specifically 3 - NV) 2. How long is this story? 3. Is it a sandbox game? Thanks brah!
People. If you havn't tryed the first Deus Ex. TRY IT! Best game ever made imo. And yeah not that good graphics but who cares, it's such an awesome game and story. If you can't stand how it looks; download a mod.
Agreed. The excellent storyline highly complements the already awesome gameplay.
You took notes? Jeez. Im not going to play video games to take notes, I'm playing video games to take a break from taking notes

Still...two months after posting this, I stand behind my statement that Deus Ex: Human Evolution has THE best soundtrack of any game ever...
William Kirk Red dead redemption?
I would say Deus Ex (2000) or Doom (2016) really but it's up to you
This game is REALLY good guys
I'm a huge fan of this comment.
Adam Jensen don't you mean "i'm Adam Jensen and i approve this game"?

Best soundtrack of the year...easily. Maybe ever. I actually dl'ed the soundtrack just to listen to in my leisure time.
Miss Kevin Vanord :( One of the best most genuine game reviewers ever!
This game is coming to Xbox's Games with Gold in January! :D

Should I buy this game for 5 dollars? I love stealth games.
I was on the computer 75% sale on steam... Big Mac or Deus Ex Director's Cut?
The best $5 I ever spent.... (note: I didn't play it better, so the Director's Cut was a better bonus for me....)
A BigMac costs $ 5...

I spent 50 hours in this game, and still have more to do.
I would go with Deus Ex...

In my opinion this is the best gamespot video reviewer
No, the developer you are speaking of was fired from IW due to his incompetence and was then hired by Danger Close to work on the Medal of Honor title released in 2010.
Remember guys going stealth is always the best as it give much more experience and sometimes killing is hard on increased difficulty
Bought it for $20 last night and loved the stealth part of it....such a fun game. The exploration and looking for secrets if fun as well
I got this game for bday and didnt know what to expect, it turned out being one of the best ps3 games i'v played.
It completely destroys the atmosphere if you play stealthily or as a pacifist in my opinion.
My specs:
I5 2500K
8gig RAM (1600)
120gig OCZ SSD
Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3
Intel graphics (onboard)
I like that the character has my name. Played the original but can't remember if it was the same guy or not?
Gameplay is enjoyable, graphics are nice and the sound is good. A special mention on ingame music, excellent.
4:43 Why would you shoot Detective Chase? D:
I found the boss fights to be pretty easy(i played on hard) just make sure you get the all the armor upgrades so you don't get killed easily, and that's all you need against them. The stealth direction is definitely the most rewording, but i did want to start shooting people from time to time XD so forchenetly the boss fights provided just that :)
Deus ex Human Revolution is the third installment in the Deus ex series. The first game was released in 2000. Yes he in fact does have an arguement.
This was my first deus ex game and I absolutely loved it :)
I haven't been a pc gamer for a while but consoles are a lot easier and hassle free in the way that you buy a game install it maybe and play with pcs there can be technical difficulties, settings need to be a certain way don't meet the requirements ect ect.
Did the glass break b4 he even touched it near the end?
Did anyone notice at 00:10-00:18 the plane has 8OOBEE written on the side?
@NicholasX9 mass effect 2 is the best game i've ever played, you can spend 20 minutes just reading your damn codec to learn more about the other species because its so surprisingly interesting, then there are the tense shootouts, decisions that matter, characters/squadmates you can believe in and feel a little sad about if you get them killed or break their hearts.
I stumbled into it and am just amazed at the scale of it, starts slow but builds up into the best world made in gaming.
I'm so happy about this game for two reasons:
1) I played it and lived the story of it
2) It proves that a game doesn't need great graphics to be damm awsome..
It takes 4praxis to unlock the EMS shield. why would I put all those resources into those augs when it's only 2 points for jump/wall punching, heavy lifting
Why do i get points for knocking people out and going into vents..the reward for doing that should be loot. Surely its harder to not knock people out.
I've only just noticed the similarities between the prologues of this and the original Witcher. In both cases, a group invade a base and steal important information.
Also; both games feature enhanced protagonists. I like Geralt more though.
Don't know if you'r still trying to decide, but but steam has a sale on deus ex this weekend.
A hybrid playthrough is fun. Sneak into an area, take some enemies out quietly, and then go guns blazing.
So when Barret walks to our cover,99%of gamers don't move because thats how they played the rest of the game
The criticism is right but u can make it fun. smartvision+laser 4boss3!
Personally, My friends and I didn't really enjoy Deus ex, but I understand why so many people love it.
Can anyone help me? I really fancy getting this soon, but want to know how well does it match up with newer game that play like it?
I love this game with a passion.I was 1 of the few people who thought deus ex invisible war was a masterpiece & obviosly the original dues ex was peerless for its time but better than mass effect?Everybody has different opinions but the mass effect trilogy is the best trilogy of games ever IMO!
-AAA voice acting
-Sweet graphics
-Immersive atmosphere and gameplay
-Award worthy music
-Awesome story
Need I say more?
There has yet to be a "Doom 3" as that title is currently in development; the original Doom that you are referring to was released in 2004.
But honestly, none of the...
the reason he's being no nitpicky in talking about boss fights is being it's being displayed on Playstation 3.
Thanks! Just picked up the whole deus ex collection from steam for 15 bucks :D
Contentwise the best review for the game. An 8.5 would even be an acceptable rating if Gamespot didn't crown painfully inferior games (MW3) with the exact same score.
What an intelligent and well thought out rebuttal -- you must be a Deus Ex fan.
if not among them,it maybe is my most fav game of all time
what's the name of the soundtrack that is playing in this video.
You seem like someone that knows this game xD
1. Is this game similar to the Fallout series? (Specifically 3 - NV)
2. How long is this story?
3. Is it a sandbox game?
Thanks brah!
@2Dropss The guy you talked to in your comments of course.
This is a great review, nice to see some indepth, more critical look on games.
@itzGye You do know if there is no rehcrage neede dyou can spam you're way throught the spam by a simple hold of a button? /:
People. If you havn't tryed the first Deus Ex. TRY IT!
Best game ever made imo. And yeah not that good graphics but who cares, it's such an awesome game and story.
If you can't stand how it looks; download a mod.
