      It would be breaking a settlement between victims and verdicts. See...for instance what about or with those punished with sex crimes, human trafficking, the fabrication of forbidden drugs and productions of or first handler trader hierarchie criminals, narcotics, etc. So heavy criminality excluded from being able to join this, sorry, but I don't think that is sane to do. But to be punished according to a order of a judge, sometimes multiple judges, and attempts to come judgement, with higher court and laws leading to it in place it can be an enduring case. Specially when dealing with prisoners and mental states of them, etc. Resettling that into a army contract, is a Russian method. But we do not allow this. As a European I say this is not the way. Yet hiring mercenaries is a different thing, but for a set and sound recognition, not a bail out of jail.
      So temporary - All besides - psychopaths and sociopaths and murderers and so onward. But theft of money or insurance or such related crimes, drug related ones - release is possible, and on base of judgement on their behaviours in the army, they may be either shortened, or bailed out, for instance when ending up heavily wounded, extremely well behaved, recognition citizenship. Etc. Being in prison in wartime, in a nation under attack, seems a little overly exposed to danger, which should not be. A safe prison time assured. Imprisoning someone, a real serious responsibility.
      Voluntary would be the only way I see it possible to get them out temporarily. By reason and extreme shortage on soldiers at the front. Simple as that. That be possibly the only way a higher judge would judge this into reality and a possibility. And definitely not without the same course off action, as for training and educating them. I guess the only way, to make your statement possible? I would say 85% sure, yes. With a minimal contract of 3 and a maximum of 5 years. Would be preferred. If that is what they feel they can repay something with, heal some of the wounds, that they should get that chance. Why not...right.. :) 👍 I'd say go for it!

      @GnosticAtheist 12 дней назад +8

      Yes, they are. However, many non-violent criminals are not sociopaths and may want to defend their nation, just like anyone else. With these laws, they may, if they can convince the board of their conviction.

You also just can't trust them to hold the line in the same way you can trust a properly motivated soldier. I do agree, however, that they should be respected and not used as cannon fodder. More dissent in the ranks is not what Ukraine needs right now, and these people can be very valuable if trained and supported properly.

      @@kyivindependent Than it is temporary mercenaries, with a frozen sentence and paused sentence. Which is what I stated clearly, that is excluded from EU law. So ... like I said?! Go ahead, but make sure there is no mistakes made, since these will count dreadfully. It will be hard to point to Russia doing the same things, when you do them yourself as well. ICC will take in to account when this construction is misused. And as Ukraine you would not want that to happen. Last not least, why not hire mercenaries from befriended nations? Why so difficult? Why not just ask supporting nations, to be able to market and request for interested people to join the Ukraine Foreign Forces? Why so...difficult and non constructive, why seeking solutions so close to criminal structures? Because it is easy? You know what easy is, is to talk about this issue with political leaders, request them to leave you free to market for soldiers or military help etc, in their nations, posters in bus stops all over EU and befriended nations. I would not mind those, since that would simply be legal...specially when you hand them a same training for the same time, and let them pass through your armies as equals, with equal opportunity and not use them as quick fix/cannon fodder, than what would be against it? Ask for the freedom to do so, and you might get it. Hiring criminals as mercenaries, is definitely in what ever way, not a quick fix either. And this action here is leaning toward misuse, and will be misused, when you can not treat them equally, since after their service they will have to still answer to their frozen sentences, and therefore can not even receive the same treatments as any other soldier in your armies. So...do not even cross that line. Ask EU for better opportunities to market for soldiers amongst Europeans, and you might get the opportunity to ask them to join you. Good luck.

    Illegal possession of ammunition? What kind of crime is that? In the U.S. you can have as much ammo as you want and guns too. Ukraine should encourage gun ownership and give every veteran not only the right to bear arms but the responsibility to help if they can in maintaining the peace. The news said they handed out 11,000 machine guns when in Kiev when Russia attacked and I assume some ammo to go with it. They should have released him right then. Can a farmer not go deer hunting if he wants on his own land . This guy did nothing wrong. In the U.S. we have more registered guns than we have people. They sell ammo in Department stores. You can get your groceries, buy a new shirt(made in China) and a box or two of ammo and a shotgun all in the same store.

      I don't know how much you keep up with Russian news, but ever since the Wagner group released the first eligible prisoners, the crime rate in Russia has gone up, including rape. Russia's crime problems aren't widely reported, but I see new reports every couple of months.
