- Russia's first mobilization since WWII has sparked protests and led to the mass exodus of men avoiding the draft. However, the country's recruiting campaign is far from failure as enlistment centers work around the clock to call up some 300,000 reservists needed to beef up Russia's forces in Ukraine. I visited a draft office in Moscow and spoke with young guys who decided to stay and join Russia's war effort

Thank you, man from the other hemisphere. I am from Russia and many of my friends were called for this nonsense. I dissuaded them, but they considered me soft-bodied. Russian people are very harsh and stupid. But I am sure that very soon they will see the light and realize that they have done something stupid. What do you expect? This are actually rich Russians (Moskwa region), used to counter strike warfare, and have to sit now for 4 months in trenches, that get wet in the daytime and frosty in night time. Wonder if the lawyer can keep his boots dry there.

@Yvonne Bowe What does that have to do with my comment? Here in the US we do not get the level of reporting from inside Russia that was presented in this video. We mostly get just what the major media want us to see.
As for conscription in the US, every male over age 18 is required by Federal law to be registered for Selective Service (the 'Draft'), and during a major war, Congress could easily re-start conscription. But that has little to do with what I said in my comment.

There is a big nationalism here in Russia. I am a Brazilian here. When I suggest to one of my friends to spend some time in Brazil untill things cool down he got angry at me. Their families are here, their grand fathers had fight in WWII when 27 million sovietic ppl die. So my friend and many others are ready to fight and think that runing away from their duty is really shamefull.

I remember sitting at MEPS station after volunteering to join the Marine Corps. Every recruiting office feels the same way. No matter what part of the world you live in. I hope these men get to go home soon.

You can obviously see that he was allowed to film there, because it was a mobilization point for volunteers. Not sure if Russia paid him, but this report is not the reality we see from other Russian mobilized soldiers. This is just another onesided story to spread Russian "well organized" mobilization. Read between the lines and you can hear, what he aims at.

Suspend your bias for a moment and listen to what the lawyer guy is saying. if you think that the feelings, he carries in his heart are any different from a guy who enlisted after 911 or a kid in the Midwest training to join the army... well you really have to check your bias. The country is strong, with great potential. Corruption and lawlessness have ravaged its economy over the past 30 years, but even so, they are hard to beat. They are ready to sacrifice themselves to the last - this is a big problem. These sacrifices are absolutely meaningless. So refreshing compared to the videos ive been seeing in Ukraine where they chase their conscipts at rail stations, or grab them in the streets and push them in a van. You should interview those that are coming back from the war, injured or in resting assignments. Although this good journalism, it's still bias towards positive individuals that still don't comprehend the full reality of this war.
Nah they can't. Imagine interviewing the Soliders who openly admitted over phone calls to lining Ukrainian citizens and shooting them dead as they had no use for them and had to move on. Imagine that getting out!
The reality of war is the fact that each side has an agenda, a dogma. These people believe that they are right and fighting the good fight. Regardless of what is right or wrong. There is no bias in this video.

You won't get unbiased returning soldier interviews as they are too afraid to speak the truth and frankly quite a number have committed crimes.
For something closer to the truth I'd recommend Ukrainian journalist Volodymyr Zolkin (on RUclips) he tracks down dead soldiers and interviews POWs (not an interrogation), they are free to say whatever they want, he records the session, they get a phone call home and with their permission uploads the vid to a public Telegram site so family and friends can see how they are doing. This also proves that they are a POW as often the military drags their feet as POWs families receive a benefit but not if you are deemed MIA. This is also sadly why they are extremely slow to pick up their dead too 😕

Может конечно экипировка сменилась, но то снаряжение которое мне выдавалось при поступлении на службу было достаточно надежное и некоторые вещи иногда ношу для работы на даче или в гараже спустя более чем 10 лет, а берцы которые мне выдавали по истечению срока службы я еще оставил товарищу у которого они получили механическое повреждение. И главное они не промокали и были достаточно хорошего качества, служил не в самых простых климатических условиях и намотал не менее 10 тыс. км...
Какая разница в какой экипировки эти ваньки умерли. От ракет хаймарс или 155 снаряда это все не спасет. Спасибо ВСУ за их ликвидацию.

This was really good. I'm sure in Russia you only see positive news about the war, and in the west we only see negative things. I had the impression that nobody wanted to be enlisted before seeing this. Well, if you are mostly exposed to western media, you form an opinion based on what they present. I prefer not to watch evening news. It is totally one-sided without exception and on all TV channels I have access to in AU.

В Макеевском ПТУ тоже наверняка были чмобики с уникальным опытом войны в Чечне только этот опыт им не помог. Война в Украине и в Чечне это разные вещи. Вся Чечня 2 раза поместиться на территории Харьковской области. У чеченских ополченцев не было такого оружия и таких возможностей которые есть у ВСУ. У чеченцев вообще не было никаких самолетов и было всего пару десятков танков.

У меня с работы пошел добровольцем в военкомат, раньше воевал на Донбассе, опыта миллион. В общем его развернули, сказали не нужен, а потом через неделю пришла повестка, кто то откосил и его внесли в списки. Ушел воевать. Отличный парень был, не знаю что с ним, с работы я уволился в декабре. Но на работе место за ним сохранили если вернется

My second cousin lived in the village. In 99% of cases, men are ready to go to war, although it is very scary. Some who enlisted with my brother are already, unfortunately, dead. The motivation is basically the same - Russia is threatened, the war needs to be won. At the same time, most of them treat Ukrainians well, they just think that they went the wrong way.

All the reading he said he has done he obviously is done very little to read anything outside of Russian literature.
