    Never lose your honesty. There's an audience that really needs to hear the message you're sharing and more importantly they need to see you there on the screen giving a face to their own struggles with money , self-image and spending. Not enough ppl are talking about how much our mental state and beliefs are tied to our spending habits and the feelings around it.

    I'm so glad the algorithm showed me your channel when you first started. I know there are some in the comment section that make judgments. I hope despite criticism you see & know you are brave. Your story is common for most in the US regardless of judgment. Most are living paycheck to paycheck, buying from social media hype and trying to keep up with the Jones'. They just aren't honest or brave enough like you. I'm here for the journey & motivation to cut back in areas of my life.🥰

      THIS is the comment. Authenticity and vulnerability inspire transformative change. No one ever talks about the soul-robbing experience that is trying to keep up with influencers and fashion icons. I suspect that we will all care a lot less about appearances and a lot more about comfort, safety, and medical support when we are 70. It's really difficult to financially plan for retirement when we are spending our hard-earned money on cheap dopamine buys. I, too, struggle, and I am trying to change.

    Hi! I absolutely love your honesty. As a former shopaholic, your channel really resonates with me! My husband and I were over $201k of debt. All various debts. Credit cards, cars, student loans. We paid it all off. It is a complete mindset shift. No more spending. We sold so much of our stuff too to help us get out of debt. Unfortunately, we lost ppl that we thought were our friends. It really shows the ppl that are truly your ppl. All I can say is keep going!! What you are doing are all the right things. You will know freedom like no other! No longer a slave to the things and the debt. Dave Ramsey has been a huge part of our debt free journey. He also has an amazing budget app called Every Dollar. I love your RUclips channel! I look forward to your posts! Keep the faith!! You’re doing great!

      I believe many of us may be sort of shocked at the spending amounts on “herself” but don’t mean to be “mean” but rather maybe the shock and comments generated by the shock will be helpful to her in realizing she doesn’t have to be self absorbed with how she looks and instead realizes how important life actually is - meaningful relationships, for example. Maybe one day- she will be able to donate and give to charity. And- have her own home - etc. I wish her much luck and happiness and prayerfully be strong enough to realize just maybe people are not trying to be mean but are just being frank. I hope this all makes sense.

    Really appreciate your honesty and sharing all the things you no longer spend money on. I have been on a similar journey for a long time now, and I realise that a lot of things I spent money on (including hair extensions, clothes, jewellery etc) were for show, and not necessary. In addition, buying these things reiterates the mentality that you need them to feel confident or worthy. When you strip back to the essentials, you can see how detrimental consumerism is, and how these things bog you down rather than adding anything of value. Keep going, you're doing great! This makes me so glad I talk with my young adult children, 21 and 24, about debt and how it will impact everything you do. Been trying to get them on the Ramit train because I think its important to know your values with money. I am so proud of my daughter during her last visit, we bought her some clothes to take back to school with her, but before she left she told me she wanted to buy a skirt. While looking she found some skirts she was ok with "nice", but I took the opportunity to tell her if you are buying something that you don't love, but because its on sale don't get it. She agreed and said she would continue to look and ended up going home without one. It was a big deal because she is in fashion school in Europe and knows alot of girls that buy so much to show off.

It seems to be “standard” for a lot of people and these girls are young, not even 35. They belong to 3 exercise gyms, Botox, skincare, tanning, extensions, Sephora, eating out/drinks…I feel that as soon as a trend came out; they all had the item. The goose sneakers (forgot the brand)..they had like 3-4 pair, jewelry… I would wonder how much money they spend on everything. Our company pays for our lunch so that was good. I couldn’t imagine what they would spend on all the salads (15.00 each in NYC). I think a lot of it is just wanting to have what everyone else has. Ooh well done taking on board some of the previous feedback. A lot of luxury purchases start out as a one-off treat, like a spray tan for an event or expensive face cream as a gift, but slowly they start to happen more frequently until they feel like a normal part of life. We then spend even more on something as a luxury treat because those things that once were a treat, aren’t any longer. Maybe look at Birthdays differently and instead of buying what you want when you want it, try delayed gratification, save the thought and ask for it as a Birthday or Christmas gift. It’s really nice to receive something you’ve wanted but put off buying for finance reasons. It makes it more special and I feel we’ve lost that as adults in today’s world.

    i think you are going to end up wealthy.... as time [asses you will become more and more disgusted with the manipulation - and your nest egg will replace the "stuff" excitement.
    once you are in a place of having all your needs covered by your investment income - - you realize you could quit if you wanted to... that is the most amazing feeling and it is such peace of mind...

    I agree with you. As you talking about clutter, I have to admit that the only reason I don't have to deal with visible clutter (excessive fashion, e.t.c.) because my principal residence have enough bedrooms to accommodate a large family. Each bedrooms have floor to ceiling whole wall wardrobes or walking wardrobes for my use. I have my wardrobe curated twice yearly (winter, spring-summer-autumn).On 24th August , for this Spring-Summer-Autumn which starting from September to end of February I purchased a number of white shoes and boots and at this stage I am not looking to purchase anything else I will be using what I already have.. With a wardrobe curator we created several outfits, using my existing clothes, shoes (including the new white ones) jewellery, bags, e.t.c. Regarding spending money what works for me; I do create a budget every year separating money for living (everything included) and money for wealth building. I never considered a wealth building funds as spending money and it is not tempting to me to do so. I must add that my saving/investing habits has been developed since I was a very young child. My grandfather took me to the bank, took me to business meetings and exposed me to wealth building from the age close to 2 years old, by that time I spoke very clearly and by 2 and 1/2 I was reading and playing simple mathematic games with my grand father. My family played a very significant role for over 1 thousand years, however following the war almost all of our wealth has been taken away by the newly socialist country. I was exposed to problem solving and taking positive steps to re-build a future.

    Omg that comment about dip & protein bars spoke to me. I hate preparing food, cooking, hate baking why do I think I can evolve into this cooking or baking maestro? I never find the time, motivation, & the food ingredients go bad. At one point I convinced myself if someone would do the shopping for me make sure I have the right measurements and ingredients. I could then cook it so I subscribe to one of these meal subscription boxes. What a waste of money it would still go bad. 😂

    I stopped spending on most of these items. Nice to have hair extension but better not to in the long run to safe money (as you said it’s so expensive), healthier for hair to grow out. I spend money on hair serum and it took awhile but my hair is thick and healthy again (minus the gray hair). I also cut my own hair these days and I love it. $only 40 for a scissor at Amazon ladies

    • @ginger182
      @ginger182 2 месяца назад +1

      This is exactly what I was thinking! And I also fell for it. In my case, I spent too much time on social media and I wanted to be like the people I followed. I didn’t even had one “role model” so to say, it was a combination of all people that I followed. I wanted so bad to live this “perfect” life that was portrayed online, that at one point I truly felt that I MUST have this and that etc. When the truth is, you can never achieve the lifestyle that is presented online, simply because it’s not real life.

      @@ginger182 And there is nothing wrong with your natural skin color, hair color, hair texture, etc. You can walk out of your front door well cared for, loved, and groomed. You get to decide what makes you feel well cared for and loved. This obsession with altering oneself because it is "wrong" is different than playing up your natural features if you want to that day.

    Huge progress! You're on to something big. Maybe key to achieving it all. Warren Buffett describes the idea as, "Price is what you pay. Value is what you get." In this video, and best purchases, seems you're doing that honest "calculation". Maybe not consciously but with great instinct. Idea will help with spending efficiently but also optimize when you want your money to make more money. If you continually strive to get much more value for the cost, and succeed, how can you not get rich?

    I have been binge-watching your videos and I find them very inspiring. I am thankful to see you at the very start of your personal finance journey as I too went through my own epiphanies around spending and debt. I have nothing but empathy and enthusiasm for you.
    I am curious about your goals and dreams. There must be something which you are striving towards that would drive you to change your habits. You may have expressed a few of these in your videos but I imagine that you want to achieve much more than just saving 50% of your income or reaching a particular salary level. As Ramit Sethi might ask: "Why?" (x5). Maybe that could be another video? I look forward to that!
