I love how you went from “I spend $3,000 a year on renting used clothes. It’s not THAT much” to “$3 a week on a subscription adds up! It’s a lot!” THAT IS GROWTH! Your view of money is changing!

Please don’t lease a car. What a waste of money. Buy a used car you can afford, keep up maintenance and drive it for years and years. Don’t make it about keeping up appearances or with the Jones’.

This! As a European, I just cannot comprehend why people are leasing all these new cars, which they clearly cannot afford. And even if one is able to save up to buy a particular car, maintenance can be a huge b*tch.

Yesss! When I bought my condo, I was going to take money out of my Roth IRA to cover part of the downpayment and the banker was like “DO NOT DO THAT! It's crazy that we have to teach ourselves these things, that it isn't part of our schooling prior to being able to apply for a job. Can you imagine having this seed planted in your head that early and being able to put it into practice so young? I know knowledge is only part of the solution but it's a great start. I think putting into practice what we have learned comes with experience and maturity. If therapy were more assessable, unpacking some of the reasons for shopping could have been hugely helpful when you are younger.

Great video. The "sounding board" that we provide is because we've all been there in one way or another. Everyone's situation is both unique and similar. Save for the wants, over time while paying off the debt and funding the needs. You're doing great! 🙂 I really enjoy your content. Thank you for being so transparent about it all.
I too took a loan out on my 401K 6 years ago and then lost that job that was sponsoring it and had to pay a TON of taxes the next year as well as lost out on about 20 years of compound interest growth. Girl..the things I've done! LOL
There's always a way to better the sins of the past. The hardest part is to admit the sins, then you can turn it around.
You're doing great! 🙂 I really enjoy your content. Thank you for being so transparent about it all.

As for current HYSA vs. Sofi vs. CIT - rates will drop starting September so I think you're fine to see where the dust settles. If one bank seems to be holding higher than the rest I think it's worthwhile to do the couple hours of work to switch.

By in large, what you lack is financial discipline. I want you to read that out loud. Also, a car lease?!?!?!? A lease. I want you, as a homework assignment, to go into how financial dumb it is for a young professional, or even a mid career professional, to lease a vehicle. I want YOU to break down the costs and tell your community how financial terrible it is to do such an action. Because that is the truth. Also, you shouldn't try to do things like save and pay down debt, as a goal, all at the same time. That is a recipe for going nowhere. Save for a small cushion. THEN Pay down ALL debt. Then save for a larger cushion, then invest. A disciplined person would do that. And it can be you. But you to want to change. And I hope that you do.

You are only using the money that you owe to other people, using other people, or irs, or car loan money that you supposed to pay back them, but instead you use it to earn youself some interest on it. But it's poor math to take the money from credit card with 25percent and put it high yield accont with 4,5percent.
