- In this video I explore the best techniques to quickly learn to shoot handguns accurately on the move. Many shooters quickly give up on learning to shoot on the move because it can be challenging. I will show you what I have learned to quickly master this important pistol shooting skill.

“Goddammit gotta fix shit now” - story of a revolver guys life 😂 I swear
I was literally like burst out laughing at that!!! He already knew it LoL 😂😂😂😂😂
If you own more than one or two guns, there is always at least one that needs work. Especially if you tinker with them! ;-) I tinker!
Somewhere there’s a 98 year old guy watching this chuckling away remembering his stolen youth in the mid 40’s.
His tuition may have been in a desert in the USA or up on Salisbury Plain here in England.
His reality would have been unbelievable to us in the modern world. Let’s permit him a wry smile and wish him well in his twilight years.
Well worded poetry. :)
When I was a cop I practiced doing this all the time. I practiced drawing with my left hand in case my right arm was injured and loading one handed. We had S&W 19s back then. You explained this very well thanks.
Thanks for the nice comments!😃
Your endless variety of skills never ceases to amaze me. The highlight of my day is seeing you just dropped a new video.🎉🎉 As a fairly new subscriber (about a yr) ialso find joy when I find old episodes episodes I've not seen. I share your stuff with what friends I still have. I'm old. I brag on you like you're my own son. Never quit doing what you do Tuco. You're 10 times better than anything on TV. Lastly, I just saw your Shot through the holster episode. Everybody needs to find and watch that one. You make everything look so easy. Praise Jesus that round didn't take you out. I immediately searched other pistol mishaps and it's not cool.
Well, thanks for that very nice comment. It's great to hear the positive experience my video have.
working on the footwork looks like it would be key for lateral movement. I'm working on getting a range that I can run and gun and not just stand and shoot. thanks for the tips!
Many private membership ranges allow running and gunning.
You're really good at moving & shooting I'm going to start practicing more myself this will be extremely helpful thank you
In the Bundeswehr we always went by the abbreviation KAK (Knie/Abrollen/Kadenz) which translates to Knees, rolling your feet and rate of fire.
Bend knees and rolling your feet allow you to even out your pace and keep the weapon stable. To control the recoil with rifles and pistols you were supposed to time your shots to the points were both feet were touching the ground.
Not saying that rolling your feet ist superior, just adding that there are different ways to do it.
There are different ways. I don't think about my steps just keeping my heels off the ground.
@chuckjorris7952 we were trained the similarly in the Marine Corps to "combat glide" by bending knees and rolling our feet. I am going to try the method in the video though, definitely more than one way to skin a cat.
I was in the marching band in highschool, and we had to walk in such a way that our torso stayed level so we could play our instruments properly. They taught us to roll our feet, and they also taught us when moving laterally to rotate our legs while keeping our torso facing the audience. When moving backwards, or lateral-back, we would drag our toes. When moving faster, we did something very similar to what you were doing. I think our director called it a “jazz run” 😂 A little bounce was acceptable, but it had to be smooth or it would interfere with our ability to play.
Thank You for the instruction. I will implement this in my training.
I have shot competitions all my life and that was impressive
Thank you.😊
Excellent demonstration!
You're videos are always good !
This one was excellent,
Imo your best ! Shooting on the move is a critical skill few can do, (wish I'd seen this video years ago, saved me alot of trial & errors) you're clear , concise and NO BS !
good job👍👍
Wow! Thanks for that nice comment! People like you keep me motivated. 😃
Love the new video 🤠🤠
A lot to respect about you, Tuco... including no wax bullets and no braggadocio. Glad I stumbled across your channel.
😃 Thanks for watching!
Thanks Tuco! Hard to hit a moving target. Practice makes perfect sense!
Yes! I love it!
great practice might also be helpful to combine this with shooting in akward positions like peeking around and using cover
I appreciate your channel. You showed me something new to look forward to do in life!
Can’t wait to get my single actions!!
Right on! Thanks for the nice comment. 😃
Absolutely wicked video brother
That’s Incredibly Awesome! Have a great weekend!
Thanks! You too!😃
This is great!!!
Excellent instruction! Thanks for your great work 💯👍
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome vid! Great info!
Glad you liked it!
I swear Tuco is a really great teacher
:)
Very cool! Great tips. Thank you. I hope yall had a happy new year!
Thanks! You too!
New to pistol shooting, and newly subscribed to your channel. this video is excellent, and I look forward to watching many more of them..
Need a separate video on how to shoot with gigantic ranch work gloves.
Your Mad Skills never cease to amaze me another great educational video can't wait to see how you're going to top this one😮😮😮
Glad you enjoyed it!
That was awesome🫣😮. I appreciate you braving the cold to make these posts for us. I'm eager for the next one.
So cool 😎
Great Video Tuco! I’ve always told people that when you train, train while wearing what you wear everyday. For me, I’m always in boots, jeans, shirt and my cowboy hat. Some times I’ll open carry and other times I’ll conceal. I’ve seen some go to the range dressed in all tactical gear and that’s pretty much the only time they dress like that. In the real world if something bad happens, you’re not going to just stand there and shoot. You’re going to move about and most times looking for cover. The biggest thing is train in as much of a natural environment as possible. One of my buddies which is a certified instructor, has even set his truck out on my range and we shot from inside of his truck while seat belted in and behind the steering wheel. I think brass is still falling out of his heater vents from time to time. 🤣. It’s all about repetitive motion. Make it feel normal and as always, have fun with it too. Really enjoyed the video Tuco.
Well, said about training in your every day outfit. Those car drills are great and help keep it fun too.
great video tuco
Someone at Rockstar please put this guy in the next RDR3
I agree at 100% for this awsome cowboy in RDR 3😊
I'm going to try this tomorrow! took many notes
😁
I practice that alot, actually. If I had to defend my home,my farm, I will have to be "running' and gunning", as I may be surrounded by multiple hostiles(wild boar,I don't live in a little house on the prairie).
Your videos are great and informative.
Glad you like them!😃
Looking smooth brother. Nice footwork!
Appreciate it!
Thanks for that.. Cool to watch👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Glad you enjoyed it!
Was unaware that you shoot semi autos, good lead slinging.
Yessir put a p320 together myself and been shooting the hell out of it recently. Shoot’s really well IMO can shoot fast with it wasn’t expecting that after seeing people online whine about the bore axis lol.
I think low bore axis is over hyped.
Bore axis is only part of recoil effect. The lower the axis the more you need to raise your arms to being the sights into line with your eye. The more you raise your arms the greater leverage the recoil will have. To counter act this you can do things like bend forward putting more of your body behind the gun.
This was a nice addition to the channel, everybody needs this that has and plans on using any gun for self defense. What state are you in, that country or land your on and surrounded by looks familiar, not your property, the surrounding landscapes and general topography, I’ve wondered this for a couple years now, looks like a couple of my old backyards.
I'm in rural eastern Montana.
I love cowboys and you've shown me that there are still people out there who do this.
I am from europe and I have never shot a gun, but I’ve got to say that I really enjoy your content sir!
Hello! Thanks for the nice comment and for watching my videos 😃
I love this channel I have learned a lot and also I feel sorry for the fool that tries to ever break in on Tuco and his family 😂
Enjoying the tutorials your doing!
Have you considered adding moving plates to your target collection?
Eventually, that stuff has been getting more affordable.
Thanks for the share ✝️
Alright brother that was cool and awesome pointers! Now if I can get the temp up to 33 to melt the snow where I can move sure footed I will try this for sure! Got 13 degrees with a 20 mph north wind now… thanks again for another awesome video, always a learning experience Tuco!
Right on! Thanks for watching! I videoed this just a couple weeks ago no gloves but it's been way below 0F for days now with a 15 mph wind. Scary cold. Post a video of your shooting after you get better weather! :)
Situations dont care about your environment. Train in it.
Great vid. I enjoy your honesty by not cutting out some of your hickups. Shows a man who is not trying to be something he is not. A lower camera angle showing foot placement may have made me happier, but hey, love it anyways.
I appreciate that!
Dude you’re amazing!! Can I ask where you got your hat? It looks awesome!
Thanks! The hat is a one of a kind custom.
Whoaaa Tuco ! Are those tennis shoes your wearing in cowboy country ? 🤔 the secrets out now on your good shooting . Another good video. 👍
Ha Ha! Yep, I could move and shoot in boots, but not nearly as fast.
Id like to know where you got those fancy cowboy boots! Im definitely gonna try shooting on the move more!
Shooting and moving looks so smooth but imagine falling tho
I'm still at drawing. Mozambique drills and a few others. I work on moving a little but man is it way harder. Especially as fast as you are going!
You can do it! Move slow till it feels natural, then speed up a little. 😃👍
@@TUCOtheratt ty😊
I thought you where using single action at the start of this video I was blown away by how fast your where cocking and firing lmao
Tuco gets more badass with each video lol
Happy new Year..
Happy new year!😃
if there ever a rdr2 move we gotta get this guy to play arthur
I remember a while ago that you mentioned you had a patreon account where you deep dive into single actions. Are you still doing that? I’ve looked through a bunch of your videos again to try and find it but I couldn’t. I’m very interested
Yes, Google it. You won't be disappointed.
Motionless
Operators
Ventilate
Easily
How many rounds do you shoot in a month. Im only burning up about 400 a month counting my percussion revolvers. I roll paper cartridges for my Colt clone cap n ball revolvers makes loading go much faster.
Another great video..... Well done...
Glad you enjoyed it! :)
Tuco what’s the laser dry fire system that you use again I know there is one that has a trigger reset so you can practice running and gunning with AR and a pistol
I use G sight.
Sorry for off subject question, but did you cover the build of your saloon?
I made some work in progress short videos. You can see it half built in the back ground.
Great video! But what about if your on crutches or a cane?...
Best to just avoid trouble then.😃
@@TUCOtheratt sometimes you just can't avoid it...they seek out the weak and disabled ...however, they will meet their maker sooner or later 😉
What is more difficult - shooting to moving target or shooting on the move?
That's a good question. If target size and movement speed is equal I'd say the same
You've got me wanting to build a race gun, almost all Pietra are out of stock, supplier doesn't know if or when they will be in, what about a Taylor made gun, also 38/357 or 45 lc?, I've got 2 ubertis I've had for 20 years from back in the cowboy action "part of my journey", are they even worth the effort to upgrade, they are 38/357
I did one Uberti successfully. If you keep searching you can find a Pietta GW2, might have to be shipped to your FFL. I can't tell you where (YT rules) but they are out there. Besides being better made, Pietta parts are well made, available and less expensive than Uberti. You may need to replace a part or two during your project. Be sure and check out my Rumble channel for more info. Thanks
Thanks
No cows were harmed in the making of this film….😂
Would this apply to a shotgun too or any gun for that matter
I have tried shooting while moving with a long gun but I would think so.
Looks like both your both feet are on the ground on shot release? Am I correct?
I don't think about my feet other than keep heals off the ground. I focus on my vision and seeing the sights on target.
Where did you get your hat?
It's custom.
Hey TUCOtheratt what’s a good revolver to fan with that can handle it with out breaking nothing
Great question! See my video How A SAA Race Gun Works. Thanks!
@@TUCOtherattI just watched the video but do they make parts that are already milled
No. I bought a mill and learned to do my own work.@@rogoatt924
@@TUCOtheratt ok is there anyway you could send me what milling mechine you use throw a link
@@rogoatt924 I bought a Shop Fox vertical milling machine in person at the store.
Stay off the heels, forward motion and aim using the sights ... okay now lots of practice
Have you seen Sassy Tullahassey?
Mister your so mean you would steal a fly from a blind spider!
Balls of feet? Lol
Learn in ten minutes lol . No one can learn to shoot proper in ten min . Let alone ride or walk and shoot
Learning a technique and mastering are two different things.
