- Panasonic S1H 1 Year Review. Should you buy the Panasonic S1H in 2021? In my opinion, it is definitely a camera that will stand the test of time for awhile. It is packed with not only features that a beginning needs, but also someone who needs features in a more professional production environment.

Thought I'd put this out there since I'm getting comments. So I know the S5 has an articulating screen like the S1H. What's different is the S1H can tilt without flipping out the screen "flippy tilty screen". See 8:10. Also I wasn't aware because I don't own the S5, but confirmed on the website that Panasonic released a firmware update giving the S5 DCI 4k. Either camera is still great!
You prolly dont give a damn but does anyone know a method to log back into an instagram account??
I stupidly lost my account password. I would appreciate any tricks you can give me
@Aydin Kamryn Instablaster =)
@Vihaan Maximus thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now.
Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Vihaan Maximus it did the trick and I now got access to my account again. Im so happy!
Thank you so much you really help me out!
@Aydin Kamryn you are welcome :)
Love the S1H content. Seems like there are just so few of us out there.
Definitely one of the few S1H content creators out there 💪
I'm actually shooting my first independent movie/film and the guy I made my director of photography introduced me to the camera and we rented it to do some work and it's amazing. I'm in the process of purchasing your entire kit. Just wanted to stop by and say thank you for being so helpful. We more people like you in the world.
That's awesome! Appreciate the support and hope your project goes well🙏
@@DustinArmstrongPro also wanted to know how can we have you apart of it?
I'm honored you want me apart of it, but honestly probably don't have the time. But definitely let me know when it's done so I can check it out
Just bought my S1H 4 months ago and am in love with it expect its Autofocus not good even after 2.3 Firmware Update. looks like am the only 1 who has S1H in Nepal :D haha. love your channel.
I feel the same way where I'm from. Appreciate the support🙏
I am here to give some love to the panasonic s1h!
The S1H appreciates that love. And so do I
Sending the S1H some love.
I was pretty insecure about buying the s1h but I just did it last weekend, thanks to you and before watching this video. Thanks for all the amazing content you’re making. 🤞🏽
Glad to hear that this channel has been helpful. Thank you for the support🙏
No need to. It's a great choice!
Great Content, been Fan of S1H, I bought it, am still studying it. Thanks for letting me know I made the right choice.
Even with the S5 in the mix, it's still a fantastic choice. Can't go wrong either way
Great to hear something about your background before listening to your insights from the camera. Thank you for your review. Very useful.
Thank you for watching and glad to hear you liked to hear about my background!
Fully agree. Great to learn more about you as an individual and a professional. Gives your advice and recommendation even more credibility although I never had doubts about it with your channel.
Really enjoying your S1H videos. I kind of stumbled into this camera and so it's good to hear from someone who knows a ton about the camera already. I'm gonna go try your low light settings tonight!
Hope they go well for you. Be sure to check out the settings in the description
Great video! Just bought the Panasonic S5 as my first cinema camera and have no regrets. Glad to see a fellow Utah filmmaker making videos on RUclips 🤘🏼
Love it. It's the best/cheapest camera body out that's full frame that I would call a "cinema camera." If you see me in public come say hi 👊
Awesome Contents Dustin! Keep it up 👍
Thank you for the support 🙏
I am agree with you, good review Dustin. I hate when I accidentally spin the shutter wheel so I decided to use synchro scan always.
Someone gave me that tip as well and have done that too haha
I’ve had my S1H for a few months now and have been nothing but impressed. I shot a short doc this summer in Portugal in 38 Celsius temperatures with no issues with overheating. Unlike myself who was so hot, especially wearing a mask for 8 hours! An all round great camera, paired with Sigma glass - 35mm prime and the 24-70mm. Great results and amazing colours! I love this camera and have worked with Panasonic for the last 5 years. Having first the GH4 and then GH5. I still have all three, the GH5 being an amazing B camera. The GH4 is my zoom / meeting webcam. All great gear IMO. Keep up the content Dustin!
Glad to hear from another user that they love it! Thank you for watching and being around for so long!
I went the route from GH4, to GH5 and added the GH5S for low light stuff.. Now Drooling over the S1H if no GH6 comes out in 2021..
Love what I am getting out of the S5!
Glad to hear!
I bought the panasonic S5 for a great price (1850€) with the sigma 24-70 and so happy with my purchase. The image quality is just MINDBLOWING for such a compact and cheap camera.
It is a great buy for sure!
Got exactly the same hahaha.
Th S1 is getting internal 6k! :D these s series cameras are amazing. totally get you when you said you didn't even know you wanted ibis until you use it. Its truly magic
I never shot handheld on the Sony's because they looked like crap handheld compared to RED. On the S1H though I shoot handheld all the time like I did when I shot on REDs more often
As a Pany S1H user. It is my obligation to sub and support your channel lol. Our pany family is a tiny community existing in the shadow of the Canon/Sony empires, and im kinda cool with that. However, finding creators like you and Mario Visions who carry the torch for this special camera really inspires me :) Keep up the good work!
Appreciate it 🙏 yeah there’s not many of us panny RUclipsrs out there!
Great question! Actually, thinking about the same questions for my main vlog cam for my channel (love the anamorphic).
They are tough questions to answer
@@DustinArmstrongPro yeah, I’m leaning towards using either the Sony A7sIII (autofocus) or S1h (anamorphic). 🤔
@@petero1068 Hmmmmmm that is tough. Depends how badly you want either hahaha. Most Anamorphic lenses you won't have autofocus though even with the Sony. Unless you plan not to do any Anamorphic on the Sony. Soooo yeah tough decision either way
THANKS A LOT DUSTIN !! like always so clear & Pro !! Question : is the Ninja V worth it combo to get that ProRes Raw capabilities for my S1h ..? For mini Films & Music clips..
Thank you appreciate the support 🙏 I’d watch the DPs journey RUclips video on prores RAW and decide for yourself. I personally don’t thing it is but that’s just me
Very instructive. Getting the s5 at some point, S1H a bit too heavy. And expensive. But looks like the s5 is a mini-s1h. Well was either s5 or x-t4. Both great colours, 4k60p, log footage, etc. Missing the 5.9k footage, although I guess that comes with the RAW recording. For home use, 4k uhd in 10 bit 4:2:2 once uploaded to youtube looks good enough. From for example the mavic 2 pro. Don't have a 10-bit monitor here either, or 8k monitor, and neither do most folks watching. For now think uhd 60p looks better than uhd 30p. But dynamic range trumps all those things. Bigger sensor, better colour, better dynamic range. Like an Alexa vs a cheap camera with 1/4" sensor. So think the s5 with same sensor as s1h looks like a good buy. Just some thoughts there...
Thats my concern , i wanted to buy S1H with my friend , but he went for sony A7 III . Cuz s1H was too expensive and AS7s3 wasnt released . If we waited we would have go for S5 also . BUt main concern is that i have GH5 . and gh5 is just the best run and gun video camera for the past 4 years . And today there is so much afforadable good lenses .
For example i have 25 0.95 and 17 0.95 wich are insane on gh5 . I also bought SLR 8 MM f4 . Wich is like 160 $ i was like okay when i bought it . Ended up using it like 60 % of time specially for parkour freerun video . (wide angle without distortion) for the price it was a nobrainer.
I had the 16-35 f2.8 II , wich is expensive and okay but i was using it to shot my "location shout only" . Then i had 18-35 sigma (wich is the best lens on gh5 but way too big with the ring adapater) .
Now i mostly use a combo of my 17 0.95 / 35 mm f1.4 (sigma art ) and 50 sigma Art and if i need i use my FD 135 mm f3.5 (handheld its a perfect vintage lenses that give you cinematic feel for 50 $) .
and i know that if i switch on S5 (ill get basicly a FF GH5 with upgraded features , but not the lenses that comes with and from my experience , i prefer to have good characteristic lenses than a good better body ) . And if you shoot food video with 25 0.95 etc you can shoot handheld random things and its turns absolutly magical !
But S1H has a good vibe , if only S5 has more affordable better line up lense i might think of switching despite there is gh6 on the line .
GH5 owner, still going strong !!! Amazing camera.
The Voigtlander lenses turn the GH cameras into beasts. They have vintage character with modern convenience. The equivalent lenses for the S1/H/5 would be something like the 35mm f1.4, 50mm f1.4 and 85mm f1.4 in Canon FD, Contax Zeiss or Leica R. Not cheap. Older lenses like SMC Super Takumar, Pentax M SMC or Minolta Rokkor may not have the f1.4 aperture, or not the image quality of the Voigtlanders. The Voigtlander 42.5mm is remarkable in its rendering. These lenses make me feel confident in m43 film making's future.
Great video Dustin!
I've a question for you...Can you control the focus of the Sigma 35mm F1.4 with the focus wheel of the Ronin S? (without the follow focus, to keep it lighter).
By the way...I've used S1/S1H and the S5...the S5 is a nice, lightweight and travel friendly camera, but I prefer way more the S1/S1H because of the unlimited recording in 4K 10bits.
Thank you! I will test it but I wanna say no. I have the RS2 and been meaning to make a video on it, I just haven't gotten to it yet. Seems like we have the same opinion of the S5, which is good since I haven't used one! haha
@@DustinArmstrongPro Ok thank you! I'll keep using the Zeiss or Leica 35mm with the bulky follow focus then.
The S5 could have been a nice B-cam if it was sharing the same battery as the S1/S1H...another point for the big brothers ahahahah
It’s also worth noting that it’s always a good idea just to ask camera stores if they can do a better price. If you’re a small business or freelancer and especially if you’re buying it with a lens or other extra’s you can get pretty big discounts. I was able to get almost 1000 euros off of retail, making it a better choice than the S5 for me personally.
If it was 3k, for sure I think the S1H would be worth it. That's the biggest reason I suggested going for used. But yeah I haven't had experience getting discounts like that locally so I wouldn't know
I subscribed because I want to see more S1H stuff
Oh! That's true! Lock button... Shutter wheel... By the way Weebill S works with this camera somehow for me. :)
Thanks for the video brother! I’m starting a web-series this year and I really am down to the S1H or the FX6. I’m totally stuck on a choice and need to decide by February. What would you do?
That’s a tough decision! The nice thing about the Fx6 is the AF. But it is more bulky than the S1H. Too many factors to weigh in I think for me to choose for you, but either camera is a great choice!
Small world. Been watching your videos recently and had no idea you lived in Utah. Also goes to show how large the industry is in Utah since we haven't crossed paths lol.
I want the S1H, but can't afford the cost of the lenses. I'm holding out for the GH6.
You could look at the Sigma MC21 adapter and get some cheap EF lenses. Works pretty well!
Are you wanting panasonic lenses or even the 3rd party lenses like the sigmas?
@@DustinArmstrongPro, I guess decent lenses to shoot video, but not to crazy prices.
I definitely recommend the Sigmas. They are an incredible value for the price.
@@FilmDat, okay, I heard about that. Great! Thank you.
Very nice! What’s your process for colour grading and vlog handling?
I plan on making a video of that soon
Good one!
No you
Many of my Colleagues bought the sony a7s3 and switched away from panasonic. but i still love my s1h. wouldnt switch.
They're both great cameras. I'm sure they'll be back once Panasonic releases a camera with good AF
Did you put the new firmware on your S1H that came out around Thanksgiving? The autofocus issues were fixed. It's actually super accurate when using the eye tracking, so much so that I don't even use the manual focus wheel while using it on a Ronin S because the autofocus now is so good, even when shooting at 6K. Before the firmware update however it was pretty terrible.
Yep ruclips.net/video/NZzz_S9OiSY/видео.html
@@DustinArmstrongPro Nice. Hadn't seen this one yet. Auto focus before the update (when using it on a gimbal) would often go searching and focus on stuff insanely far away, completely bokeh'ing out the actual subject. haha. Using it back then was playing with fire that almost always burnt you. Now it's very trustworthy. I've even used the Lumix 2.8 70-200 on the Ronin S at 200 (it works if the gimbal is REALLY balanced, but your arms will hate you) and even at 200 it worked great from a long distance. My other S1H uses a Lumix 2.8 24-70 and no problems with that on the gimbal either.
*Ahh Man ! I really want to get this camera, and I am saving up my cash to do so, but the Lumix DC-S1H is still a $5,500.00 CAD body only camera in Canada. I haven't seen any great deals on a used S1H camera, or I might be inclined to go in that direction to save a little on the high cash output end of this equasion. Clearly, this camera is worth the money.*
Unless you shoot and edit RAW the S5 is pretty much the same and it's half the price. Also if you shoot RAW you can get the Atomos Ninja V. The combo is still less expensive and you get a monitor.
In my opinion it’s worth it, but it is definitely a harder decision with the S5 in the mix. Also found out the S5 has DCI 4K via firmware update
@@bornfromthefires2515 I already have the Atomos Ninja V. I have the new MacBook Pro 2020 with the Radeon 5600 GPU with 8GB of HBM2 Memory, 32 GB of DDR 4 System RAM and the 9th Gen Intel 8 Core CPU, so I should be able to edit and output a full 6K RAW timeline without issues. The MBP 16 is capable of feeding two 6K external monitors at full resolution as well, so in many ways the S1H is the best solution to compliment my post setup.
@@markjob6354 That's great bro! Check it out. The S5 has 5.9k 12 bit RAW with the atomos. www.atomos.com/cameras/panasonic-s5
@@DustinArmstrongPro I concur with your appraisal. Everything points to the S1H as the camera I should really be getting. In so many ways there are unique features and film maker creature comforts on the S1H which just are not on the other Hybrid shooting solutions like the Sony A7III, or the Sigma FP (Which is another full frame 24 Megapixel camera I have been considering), but it lacks the codecs and the audio interface possibilities the S1H has. To my knowledge, the S1H is the only Hybrid Mirrorless solution offering the possibility of shooting with 96KHz 24 Bit audio (Via add on Audio Interface accessory box). For my way of shooting, the S1H checks all the boxes but one- No 8K capability. Netflix has added the S1H to its approved cameras for production list. (This pulls some weight with my clients, BTW).
You mention the overheating issue with Sony cams. I live in the sunny Spain, I was considering also the Sony A7Siii due to the lens ecosystem, but overheating is a big issue. How long have you been recording a 4K video with you S1H?
The A7sIII is a different story compared to the A7III. The A7sIII handled heat WAY better and I don’t think I’d worry about overheating unless you shoot a ton of 4K 120. The S1H though, haven’t had it overheat once and it literally has a fan built in to prevent overheating so I wouldn’t worry
Perfect camera would love to hav built in bed filters though
Hi Dustin. I decided to invest hard into L mount. Can you recommend should I get sigma dg dn or stick with Lumix S Pro / S lenses line up ? I use for both photo & video work
The sigma’s are definitely a better value in my opinion, but can’t go wrong with the S Pro lenses. I’m excited for all the 1.8 l Mount lenses to come out since most all of them are the same size. Make it easier to change between then when it’s on a gimbal
@@DustinArmstrongPro sigma 1.4 dg dn vs lumix s 1.8
Which one you prefer ?
Haven’t used the 1.8 but I’m considering getting it and selling my Sigma because of the flexibility to change to those focal lengths without rebalancing my gimbal
Hi Dustin, thanks for this great video and your time you spent with reviewing this beast after one year of use.
I bought my S1H last year, following your and a few others‘ positive recommendations, and I am still more than happy with it. Even the AF became much better with the latest firmware update.
Colors of the S1H are fantastic and ready to use when shooting in Cinelike profiles (V or D), and in V-Log you get a huge grading headroom.
With a very well made Novoflex adapter I can even reuse some of my full frame lenses for my Nikon, such as the Sigma Sports 120-300mm f2.8 which is great for animals and birds when using it on a fluid head and attaching an JTZ manual follow focus (the best you can get for under 500 €). The built-in EVF is referred to be one of the best in the market which I can only confirm. And, low light is great on this camera, too. The S1H with the Panasonic 16-35mm f4 even works on my Weebill S (counterweight needed, and w/o the wireless transmitter or follow focus), but it‘s quite heavy to carry around.
AND NOW SOME OF YOU MAY WANT TO CALL ME CRAZY:
Would I buy the S1H again today? Hm, probably I would go into a very different direction as a video amateur. I could imagine going for an iPhone 12 Plus Pro, using FilmicPro to unlock the iPhones 10Bit video capabilities. The paid version of FilmicPro provides a Log profile which is great for grading and even works with the ACES color space, delivering awesome colors (I tested this with my iPhone 8). Using a gimbal, and attaching a lens case and a nice anamorphic lens provide the capability to shoot very nice footage that looks awesome, and AF is always (!) in focus.
So, for a pro I would always recommend the S1H! Considering the iPhone 12 as the b-camera of choice might be worth to think about. You can make the colors from both cameras look very similar using ACES Colorspace (or the new Davinci Resolve wide gamut space).
That’s interesting but glad you have enjoyed the camera!
Iphone, for a B-cam......that is just not a serious ide at all !
Thank you. I appreciate your review. It seems like the S1H is a GH5 on steroids! I may sell my GH5 and get an S1H!
The S1H yes. Also the S5 is a good choice to look at as well
A bit late, but enjoyed the video :)
Just matters that you're here🙏
If you pick up and shake your s1h, in various directions, with the power on, but no lens attached, do you hear anything? Do you hear / feel sounds of parts gently shifting or any rattling noises or is it dead quiet? I’m asking, because you have one and I recently dropped my padded camera bag from about three feet and I’m trying to figure out if the noise I’m hearing was present before the fall. In other words, that it’s normal. My camera functions perfectly fine and the fall wasn’t super hard, but still, would like to hear from a real user. Thanks for any and all help!
Hi Dustin, I'm a new-er S1H user and I'm having issues shooting Vlog and (VFR) slow motion (120 fps HD, and 4k 60fps) and I'm getting lots of grainy footage, even with lots of light and I am filming indoors. Perhaps you can share your experience or a test video? Thanks enjoy the channel and your content very much!
I’ll see what I can figure out. I don’t really shoot in 1080 so haven’t tested it
@@DustinArmstrongPro How about in 4k-60? Do you get grain? Thanks I'm looking forward to see what you can do. Thanks for the reply!
@@ohshowproductionsllc most of the example shots you see in this video are vlog 4K 60 or 4K 48 FPS in VLog.
@@DustinArmstrongPro I did more testing shooting CineD in 4k 60 using huge Godox sl60 and shooting in the Natural profile still getting noisy images. I'm pulling my hair out in frustration, how do you shot slo mo without the noise, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Ahhhhhh! Anyway, I appreciate your help! :)
What do you think now about s1h? It still intrigues me, and goes on really good sales.. Waiting for black friday 😎 I shoot mainly on Canon fd lenses, so autofocus is NP.
I still own it
The s1h beats the s5 in full frame 6k (s5 does 6k/5k in aspc) and in 4k all-intra. Aside from that they're the same camera. (S1h also has a low pass filter, could be a pro or con depending if you want one or not) and then output via HDMI they're equal
Also beats it in the IBIS department. It’s still got a decent amount of advantages over the S5, but is that extra stuff worth the extra cost? That’s what is hard for someone to decide
@@DustinArmstrongPro The best is always worth the cost on my eyes. If you can't afford it like me, and want the closes thing to it without many sacrifices. I would say the s5 is the choice for u. But a better camera is always worth the cost on my eyes
Do you have a workshop or are willing to teach me how to use certain features on this camera? =) I love my s1hs and s5s!!!
Join my livestreams and you can ask me all the questions! I do them on RUclips roughly 2 times a month and on twitch very often!
Can S1H be a better option for an indie feature in 2021, with S5 and Sony A7S III as other contestants.
Yes. As an indie filmmaker I’d go for the S1H since it’s Netflix approved whereas the S5 and A7sIII are not
I would say so. The only thing you could consider the a7s3 for would be low light. 4000S5 vs 12800A7S3. You also get an extremely capable photography camera with the S1H while the A7S3 is limited in that area.
Bro do you have the wedding video link?
Which one? Some of these are on my Instagram.
Hey Dustin, are you in a warehouse there?
Nope! Just my unfinished basement haha. It's a pretty big basement though
I am kind of torn whether to get the S1H or S5 or wait longer and get the GH6. What lenses do you have with the S1H Dustin?
Tough decision. Personally after using the S5 for a few days, I prefer the S1H, but the S5 is still a great value. We don't know when the GH6 is coming and what it'll even have to offer. I have the Sigma 14-24mm, 35mm, and 50mm.
@@DustinArmstrongPro Hey Dustin, Thanks! I have always seriously considered the S1H, but then S5 could be a good BCAM. Are they all Sigma lenses you own? Thank you mate.
Yep all Sigma lenses. I have some cheap vintage lenses as well but that’s it
@@DustinArmstrongPro, Thanks man.
Question!! Any advice on why my pictures are coming out extremely underexposed? On camera the photos look great and perfectly exposed but once I upload to computer and Lightroom, they are all extremely underexposed. Any advice? Plz and ty
Sorry I got nothin. I pretty much only do video so I won't be much help
I have to get my hands on an s1h
Loving the S5 with the Ninja V. It does DCI 4k now with new firmware. But great review, both are great cams.
Oh snap. I see that now on the firmware update. Probably would have known if I owned the camera but I don't haha. I'll bring it up in a future video most likely
@@DustinArmstrongPro No worries dude! Love your vids, keep them coming. Do you do much ProRes Raw work?
Whats a good anamorphic and or cinema lenses for the L mount
What’s your budget?
@@DustinArmstrongPro around $1500-2k
For that price, you could go the DIY anamorphic route like I’ve done on this channel. Or get one of the sirui and use an adapter. When you say cinema lenses do you mean PL Mount? Or L Mount?
@@DustinArmstrongPro can u send the link to the diy video? And yes Pl mount and Ef around the sane or lower budget
do you think is better than the song a7s iii?
Better in some areas, but not others
The S1H would've been my personal perfect camera if Panasonic had just switched to phase detect or hybrid AF (the "image quality" excuse Panasonic always cops out to doesn't hold any water these days; Canon and Sony's latest offerings have IQ every bit as good or better than what they offer) and didn't crop in so much at higher framerates when shooting 4K. Love everything else about the camera.
The S1H did come out almost 1 year before those cameras so I'm not surprised it crops in at those frame rates. Will be interesting to see what their next camera will have to offer
Did they finally remove that stupid focus box? I want one of these cameras but I will only ever use manual focus.
Nope
Tell in next video how you are filming in ALL-I (400Mbps) because fastest SD-card I've found has 350Mbps WriteSpeed. and it's extremely expensive. And why u are filming (or just showing?) C4K SUPER35 and don't use FULL FRAME??
There’s a link in the description of the SD cards I use. Haven’t had issues with them yet but haven’t recorded for very long periods of time. Besides that, had no issues. I shoot in FF when I’m not shooting slow mo, but yeah I have no choice when In 4K 48 FPS or 4K 60 fps
The S5 does have a flip out screen which makes it even more of a bargain!
You misunderstood. It doesn’t tilt though. The S1H will tilt without flipping the screen out. Game changer
@@DustinArmstrongPro Aha got it! I have an S1 and I’m envious of even the flip out of the S5. External monitors are great but being able to see oneself without one by any means is a game changer 👍🏼
Totally. On my A7s III, I miss being able to tilt without flipping the screen out, but yeah much prefer the flip out screen. Even just as a practical point if you're shooting in a small room and can't be behind the camera to see the monitor is so nice to flip out the screen. Plus yes, not having to carry an external monitor is a plus.
UVU 👍
Let's go
Suggestion: Don't overuse LUTs. It looks weird. Like the blacks and mids are too crushed. I'm referring to your studio shot. I think this is a common mistake people make. Pushing LUTs and color grading in general further than it should be. I used to do it.
I think your eyes are playing tricks on you or possibly the device you're viewing the video on is doing something. See my most recent post in the community tab if you like to see how much colorgrading I normally do. I don't even use LUTs on my studio shots
@@DustinArmstrongPro I just looked again, and I still have the same reaction. Look at your t-shirt. 50% of it there is hardly any detail in it, like totally black. And your arm hair looks too crushed in the mids. Most times this is from people overusing LUTs, but it can also be from just pushing blacks, mids, and even saturation too much. It could be youtube compression which is awful, to begin with. Maybe I am used to looking at blacks that are lifted more. But the truth is nothing is ever totally black in film. That was a thing in video. Maybe you set your shadow curves to a threshold and then pushed them too much on another layer? Anyway, just my two cents. If you're happy with it, ignore what I say and you right be right, my eyes may be playing tricks on me.
I have to disagree on the "nothing in film is totally black". Color is also subjective. There's guidelines, but no wrong or right way to do things. Sure if it looks like crap, then something should probably be changed, but I'm barely doing anything. All I did was bump my shadows by 15 and highlights by 50 and adding a color selector and made my skin a little closer to my actual skin color since that basement reflects an orangish color from my lights bouncing everywhere. That's it. 0 saturation adjustments.
@@DustinArmstrongPro I have never seen total black in film. It's dark gray, but never totally black. Now maybe there are films like that, but not that I have seen. Either way, you still have a good channel. I just thought the image looked weird.
Why not s1. The April firmware update 6k 10bit internal, I do not even know what s1h has over s1 that makes it $1300 more expensive.
This video was made before most of the firmware updates on the S1
Panasonic needs to add full frame or close enough to full frame 4K60P. If I recall correctly, the S1R had larger than s35 Full frame 4K60P. Different sensor but come on lets put that internal fan to work and get 4k60P full frame or even with a slight crop. OR bring the price down of the S1H, especially with what the lower model S5 offers for the price.
I think the sensor is only capable of 40 fps at full frame least on the S1H so I don't think it's possible. I could be wrong though.
@@DustinArmstrongPro I'll take 40FPS in full frame.
I shot 4k 30 full frame 4:2:2 (not raw) to an atomos ninja V both from the S1H and an S1R no crop. (Two cams shooting a classical string quarter in the SF Bay Area mid january 2021.)
Hey just so you know I think something went wrong with the editing software, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s davinci resolve. Just above your right eye n the gap between your eyebrow & cap. That part of skin is bright white/grey which makes your safe look Chernobyl radiation levels of sunburnt!. Looks like the masking tool has missed that part of your face!. Or if not that something super weird has happened with the camera itself!. You probably noticed it already, just thought I’d mention invade you hadn’t.
I’m pretty sure that’s just the lighting. I didn’t use resolve or any masking in this. Not sure what you watched this on but it could be the display you watched it on as well.
I sold my S5 for an S1, so I could do unlimited 4K 10-bit and so I can match my S1H with internal 5.9K.
Yeah the S1 has completely changed since it was released. Also is not a bad buy now
The S5 does have a fully articulated screen.
You misunderstood. The S1H tilts without articulating the screen. “Flippy tilty” screen. The S5 you have to flip it out to tilt it. See 8:10
Oh wow! Cool!
Should I buy it in 2022
I would wait
Who is this guy? :-D
Your video tour guide 🙏
I prefer s5 because is smaller
Much smaller
I mean ND filters
2021.. and the price of this camera still hasn't really dropped...
It might not until a new one is released
