    One thing to clarify on the shutter speed part. There must of been something else at work that time I got the jitter from reducing my shutter speed to the same as my frame rate. You will still get SMOOTH slow motion, but there's just much more blur. Honestly is kind of a cool effect and maybe I'll demonstrate it in a future video. Happy filming 🙏

    Hey Dustin! Love your videos, just got my s1h! Used your other settings video to configure mine ;)
    One thing about this video though; you should stay away from that audio limiter, it's kinda like setting your camera to auto. With the limiter on you're losing a lot of audio detail. A better way would be to set your levels correctly and always monitor your sound with headphones. A limiter can still be slammed on in post if you have someone scream in your camera anyways, but having it off will save you from accidentally setting your levels wrong because you think it's not clipping because the limiter is deceiving you. Hope that makes sense ;)
    Keep those videos coming, they're amazing value!

    • @DustinArmstrongPro
      @DustinArmstrongPro  4 года назад

      Thank you! Hope you love it like me! Thanks for the tip! The audio limiter I honestly haven't used in a real world scenario, but I can see it coming in handy in a situation where I don't have time to get headphones out and check levels or change levels on the fly. This is where I can see it coming in handy, but I agree and would never rely on it. In this video I was more showing an example/testing of the audio limiter could handle a very extreme case of peaking

      Dude, i bought the S1H and man i must say it. Its way way more better and easier to color grade the footage with V-log than what i used with my other cameras, so flexible and fun. Thanks to you Dustin, you were the bullet of my decision. Now i have to assign my C1,2,3. Its completely new to me, since i never owned a panasonic system before but if figured how to work the hardest manu of sony, i guess this should not take long to configure and thanks for the other video which also helped a lot for a better jump start.
      A question tho, in the photo mode, i noticed that the RAW file is small compared to other 24MP cameras, it is usually around 50+ MP but with the S1H is 30+ MP, is this the same or is there a setting to dial ?

I recorded something recently at MOV 4K 10 Bit 422 24P 10-L LGOP 150 Mbs and the playback was skippy in some places. Can anyone tell me why Panasonic has never embraced the "Dual Pixel Autofocus" feature? As much as like Panasonic, as a nearly always a solo shooter, I just can't change from my Sony cameras unless its competitor offers the dual pixal AF. I really like all of the features on this SH1 ... Nice review, hope you enjoy and get a lot of use out of your investment.

    • @DustinArmstrongPro
      @DustinArmstrongPro  4 года назад +1

      Good autofocus is still a very new thing and it isn't all just software, but also hardware. I think we will see Panasonic release a camera soon with good autofocus. But for the record I came from Sony and just use manual on my Panasonic. It's more work but I think it's worth it. Also depends on what kind of stuff you're shooting. Good luck!

    Thanks for the great vid man! I am thinking of pulling the trigger on the S1h soon. Couple questions.
    1) Can you put this on a gimbal with a cage? I thought I saw you had it on the Ronin S?
    2) Does is crop in for the 4K footage? If so, is that a huge pain in the ars?
    Thanks man!

    • @DustinArmstrongPro
      @DustinArmstrongPro  4 года назад +1

      No problem thank you for the support.
      I haven't tried putting it on the Ronin S with a cage, but it will go on the the Ronin S with the focus motor no problem.
      It depends what you are recording. 4k at 24 FPS and 30 FPS it does not crop in. 4k at 48 FPS and 60 FPS it will do a 1.45x crop I believe. It's not that bad. Hasn't been a problem to me.

      @organismx 4 года назад +1

      @@DustinArmstrongPro that would be super awesome man! Thanks! The thing I would like to know is if you can Half press the shutter to quickly grab focus on the subject and then smoothly turn focus ring to keep a relatively slow moving subject in focus without introducing much camera shake in the footage. I know the it's a lot to ask from a camera that is in a dslr form factor but the Idea is to use the S1H for professional run and gun documentary work. Because if not I will have to move to something bigger like the FX9 and be donne with it. FX9 is perfect but to big to and obtrusive.

      I did some tests. Rack focusing, even without dual IS, just IS handheld, there's basically no camera shake. (Video coming soon)
      As far as quickly grabbing focus with half shutter, then focusing manually, you don't introduce much camera shake, but the S1H in some case will grab focus, but you're better off just using manual focus because the half press shutter or touch AF is just too unpredictable. (Also video coming soon testing the IBIS/OIS and autofocus with panasonic lenses and l mount sigma lenses)

    • @DustinArmstrongPro

      I'm actually going to release a video of the S1H vs A7sIII, but the biggest difference is the S1H can shoot DCI 4K, 6K, Anamorphic modes, Anamorphic desqueeze, has waveform, vectorscope built it, and 24 megapixel sensor.
