I never wanted children, but I had one daughter and during my pregnancy I was so depressed because I just didn't want to be a parent. But when I my daughter was born the overwhelming feeling of love I felt was incredible and something I didn't expect. I finally got it what it was to love something so much that it completed me and that I would die for my beautiful daughter. This song describes that kind of love.

Crystal was written by Stevie Nicks and released on the Buckingham Nicks album in 1973. When she and Lindsay Buckingham joined Fleetwood Mac, the song was re-recorded with the band and included on the 1975 white Fleetwood Mac album (which I posted earlier but the video was blocked). This is the Buckingham Nicks original version.
Despite being written by Stevie, the lead vocals are performed by Lindsay.
      Lyrics:
Do you always trust your first initial feeling
Special knowledge holds true, bear believing
I turned around and the water was closing all around like a glove
Like the love that finally found me.
Then I knew in the crystaline knowledge of you
      Drove me through the mountains
Through the crystal like and clear water fountain
      Drove me like a magnet
      To the sea
      To the sea
How the faces of love have changed turning the pages
And I have changed, oh, but you, you remain ageless
I turned around and the water was closing all around like a glove
Like the love that finally found me.
Then I knew in the crystaline knowledge of you
      Drove me though the mountains
Through the crystal like and clear water fountain
      Drove me like a magnet
      To the sea

I dont know if it is due to ageing or if she does this intentionally but she has that in the Fleetwood Mac version of this song and I just don’t like it very much. Fun fact.. this version is in the key of F and the FM 1975 version is in G. That's a whole step up. So if you listen to them back to back, or in whatever order, you're likely to like this one better just because it's in a lower key. That's some musical psychology anyway and what it supposedly states.

Lindsey does such a beautiful vocal on this--simply amazing it brings tears. However, Stevie's version in Practical Magic is good but not hauntingly beautiful as Lindsey's. This is also better than the Fleetwood Mac version--Mick Fleetwood was the producer on that version and that's perhaps why it was not what it could have been. Lindsey is the best.

Either Jerry Scheff on bass or Mark Tulin. Jerry Scheff actually played for Elvis in Elvis's later career, and then for The Doors in their later career not too long before this.

Concert, in support of this first LP, was a knock-out (!), front act to Poco, B'ham, Alabama, 1974... Can't beat that... it was total-serendipity... their joining with FM, i lost interest... sad, but true...😂

Why are comments turned off on so many Fleetwood Mac tracks? Only chance to bang on about this song. Belongs with Landslide , Storms , Gold Dust Woman.
    Just devastating.

First time I have heard this earlier version. It sounds like they hired Harry Shearer (in his Spinal Tap persona) to play bass, thumping away like in "Big Bottom".

Does anyone know what instrument or sound is being made in the outro around the 3:10 mark. It kind of sounds like a horn or something but that could be completely wrong.

It has never been reissued so the only official copy of the album you can get is the vinyl from 1973!

La versión de Fleetwood Mac es mejor, es más nostálgica. El sonido de los tambores, el teclado y voz de Mcvie de fondo, etc.
