Thank you. That was fun. I like how short your reviews are. Miniskirt maxim personified - short enough to be interesting, long enough to cover what it needs. Thanks!
Thanks for the feedback. I intentionally make it short so people don't get confused with an overload of information. There are plenty of other reviewers that get more in depth but with me, I try to get straight to the point. That's why its good to have a few people on RUclips reviewing the same camera. Again, thanks for the feedback and I'll consider doing more extensive reviews in the future =.)
Hi John, thanks for your reviews - always a pleasure to watch it! I'm currently thinking about selling my SLT-A65 and get the RX1 because I can't get used to the heavy and big dslr/lens-combos while walking around or taking it with me while doing some MTB-tours and so on. But I don't want to miss the image-quality of my slt65 and I'd like to have a better low-light performance. What would you think, is it worth the extra money? Or would you prefer a NEX6/Zeiss 24F1.8 combo for that purpose?
John, your videos are not too short. You did an excellent job. I specifically clicked on your video because it was short, "and sweet". If you want to make a longer video perhaps you should make an extended video, part 2. So if they want to watch and hear more about it, all they have to do is follow the link that is at the end of your video, or you could put a part 2 link on your "About" section. Perhaps if you read this, you could help me find a digital camera that is around $200 and can record video with a movable manual focus and zoom at the same time. Perhaps I should be looking at video cameras that can take pictures rather. I love the pictures in the video that you took, that had the background unfocused and blurred somewhat. Great accents and colors. Take care. :) -Luke
Thanks for the feedback Luke. That is a good idea where I get more in depth with the camera. If you could stretch your budget just a bit, the a3000 might be a good choice for you.
Its definitely worth the extra money. Image quality and low light performance would be better than the a65 however, focusing won't be that quick since you don't have the translucent mirror.
I'm often shooting sports with MF and not with AF, because I don't trust the AF. I've been disappointed by the AF-accuracy several times, so that would'nt be a negative point for the RX1. I don't like the noise in the a65 from ISO800 onwards, so I think the RX1 should be really a boost in that region, shouldn't it?!
Why do you say it's expensive - if this lens was available separately it would be USD1500, so that makes the body about USD1200. It's got a full frame sensor in it... so comparable to, say D800. You wouldn't be buying this if you wanted an interchangeable lens system. It's not a compact insofar as the compact class has been defined previously - it's essentially a miniaturised SLR. This isn't expensive.
due a fixed focal length lens and and high retail price, this camera is pretty limited in usefulness. I would rather invest in a nice full frame dslr camera with a nice hq walkaround lens.
Your videos are too short. Following some youtube principles and rules (short videos for one) won't get you much following. Try to make extensive reviews. 5 minutes tell nothing more than the others out there.

the sony rx1r ii is just amazing. thank you so much!
BoKEHHH!! Great video review John. I have been thinking of purchasing this camera. Might have to pull the trigger on it soon. Full frame goodnes.

Those are really impressive high-iso shots!

What camera did you use for the video?
QUESTION: Can you pause and resume the video or only record and stop option?
Its definitely worth the extra money. Image quality and low light performance would be better than the a65 however, focusing won't be that quick since you don't have the translucent mirror.
I really like your pictures!
Tell me one thing brother from which camera you had made your own video ?
That I want to ask please tell me.
Any side by side comparison of cameras u have?
Great video! For the MF ring, is it by wire or not?
Even though it doesn't have the viewfinder for a camera with the Zeiss lens for under 3k big promps to Sony for pulling this one.
get it, you can't be go any wrong with it , I replaced my D800 and 5D2 with it and A99v and I can't be happier.
For the amount of money involved, I'd get the A99 and stick with the RX100 (which I love) as a pocket or backup camera

What is the OPTICAL ZOOM ?
I cant decide between this camera, a fujifilm x100s, or a leica x2...
It doesn't have any zoom. Its a fixed lens at 35mm.
It is a shame I like to pause my video on Note2 during recording. Thanks for the response
Newtown! The place to be! hehe
small correction, it is a micro usb, not mini usb :)
nice review, thanks. However, should quiet those birds(?) in the background during recording, quite distracting...
Good synopsis, dude...
cool review, awesome camera.. too bad it's never fit on my budget, well at least for now :)
You can only start and stop recording. You can't pause unfortunately.
newtown! great review by the way! thumbs up! =)

Ohh okay. Fair enough. You're going to see low light performance that blows the a65 out of the water!!
