I now have this camera and love it. Your review helped me make the decision to buy it, and now that I've used the camera for a trip I know your review is right on. Thanks for your service.
Awesome review! I am not at all an experienced photogorapher, but was considering buying this to upgrade my quality in my small singing videos and mainly for Instagram. I love that its small enough where id be able to travel with it on the go, and it doesnt seem too complicated in the settings for me to eventually master. Considering the reviews and from what i see, i am very much leaning to make the purchase. Itll be my FIRST "camera" ever! Thanks for the helpful review again :) p.s. Gorgeous Dog
Hey Jamie! Its certainly a great camera to consider for travel and on the go. If you do go for it, I don't think you will regret it! Nice channel btw! And thanks for the compliment =.D
Photography Attitude And that's exactly why I finally bought a Sony RX100 V camera because the autofocus system is finally worth the price I'm paying for. All the previous models didn't interest me
Yes, I wish next version will have a Zeiss 16-70mm and touch screen. That would be perfect. But for now I am gonna go ahead and get this. Nice review, thank you 👍🏻
I didn't own a camera for years.. just the odd one or two 35mm compact film cameras from 1990-2011. First digital camera I picked up was the RX100III and then it was part exchanged for a a6000 with the Zeiss 16/70 and now that's gone and now I have gone back to the RX100V and I love it! I would love Sony to make a slight larger body with an APS-C sensor plus 24-100 1.8-2.8
Hey there. If I wasn't going to need the 4k and such and only want a good picture (all I'm taking is shots and a little bit of video) would you recommend mark 4 or mark 3 or mark 5 ? Or should go with the DSLR such as A6000 ?
I just purchased the Sony RX100 V after owning Sony NEX-5R for a few years I can definitely see the improvement in autofocus. I never thought I'd be happy to own a point and shoot camera. Do you think the autofocus is better than the Sony a6000?
Bought a brand new Mark V off E-bay for $650 .....a deal I could not refuse. I have a Sony A6500 and I found that I use the Rx100V more often because I can carry it around in my pocket. The 6500 is a great camera but the best camera is the one you use and I found that because of its size and it's abilities, the Rx100 is my go to camera. 5 minute 4k is not really a big issue as while 4k is nice, the Hi def abilities of this camera makes 4k a special occasion and not a full time deal.
@@JohnSisonPhotography i am always close to the stage, first or second raw, the mobile phones are not the best when the singer is jumping around :) so i hope this camera will do the trick, plus is small and i can take it inside..
John I am thinking of buying a Sony RX1R ii but I have been told that with 42 mega pixels I need a tri pod as if I use handheld I will notice blur etc zoomed in.
Another Sony RX camera with amazing image quality and incredible features, BUT like my A7rii it has a particular fatal flaw. That being NO quick way to select the autofocus point. To select the autofocus point we need either a touch screen or a joystick. Clicking the tiny wheel on the rear of the camera multiple times to change the autofocus point is WAY too slow. Too slow to catch action happening before us. I've missed so many shots because of this. Such a slow process when with a touch screen it only takes one tap.
Christopher Cox try continuous with lock on AF. You can choose your point of focus then recompose. Or try one of other focus modes. It actually works well.
Christopher Cox - STOP down dumb ing camera like canikon, choosing AF via button/ joystick was in the past. Sony Mirrorless AF have advanced focus system (intelegent AF Tracking)

I really know my way around camera settings, but for the life of me I can't find a way to change aperture in manual mode. I get the option in auto modes, but I always shoot in manual. Can you help? I also want to know how to change aperture in panoramic, and how to take vertical panoramics. Thank you so much! x
From memory all you have to do when you're in manual mode was press the down button on the control wheel and turn the wheel to change the settings and you can change either your aperture or shutter speed from there. As for sweep panorama, I believe it is automated so you can't change the aperture or shutter speed unfortunately. Let me know how you go. I hope that helps.
It can't do continuous video for 2 hours. It will max out at 29mins and then you can continue another clip. Depending on the environment like the temperature it will last longer than 6mins.
I'm so sick and tired of Camera manufacturors deliberately crippling their camera performance capabilities and deliberately milking their clientel by making sure the next model is only slightly better than the last, but just a good enough improvement to make you want to throw away your RX 100 MK IV and run out and piss away another Grand $ and purchase the RX 100 MK V !! Now you'll get six minutes of 4K before shut down instead of 5 on the MK IV !! You see, that's precisely the kind of cynical camera manufacturing bull shit which upsets the Sony customer !! :( :( :(
I know what you mean. The Mark III was the most significant upgrade in terms of useful features from its predecessors but since then, its been small incremental updates.
Hey John :) Stay Tuned for my upcoming RUclips Review on how to setup and actually use the Sony DSC RX 100 MK V in a professional rig with an external video recorder and Mic Pre-Amp, which circumnavigates the camera's inability to accept an External Microphone, or have any audio monitoring capability. There are easy work arounds for both issues and they're not expensive ones :)

You're welcome Richard. I'm glad that my video was able to help you out with your purchasing decisions :)
Does it have an external mic input

The biggest difference between mark V and previous versions is the phase detection AF in video, one feature alone worth upgrading.

Hi! Thanks for the review. Just a quick note, the lens is 8.8-25.7mm and its equivalent to 24-70. Also the aperture is variable from 1.8-2.8
I'm deciding between getting the mo IV or v in used market .. any suggestions? Thank you
Yes, I wish next version will have a Zeiss 16-70mm and touch screen. That would be perfect. But for now I am gonna go ahead and get this. Nice review, thank you 👍🏻
The bad from all RX camera is ver.5. It don't have API

That would be a dream camera!
I bought the i back when (in the form of Hasselblad "Stellar"), and I just upgraded to the vi (not the vii).... Little wonder of a cam. Love it!!

Waiting for mine with great impatience!
Just got a used 5A in 200 bucks. super excited.

The RX100V is definitely better when it comes to autofocus in my opinion so I think you'd be happier with the RX100.
John Sison omg wow that says alot! Didn't know it was that good
Thanks Man! I learned a lot. Might end up buying RX 100 3!
You're welcome. Glad that you found my video helpful! :)
I know I've already commented about this before but the intro is sooooo good!!!!!!!
Haha doesn't hurt to say it again =.P
John Sison
how big of memory card we use for this camera?

HEY John, great reviews....big fan from India.
Hey thanks for the compliment! Really appreciate it =.)
hey John Bro..can you pls do a comparison review on sony Zeiss 35 f1.4 VS sigma 35 f1.4.....
I don't think I would be able to do that since I don't have the Sigma.
Haha so many lenses to do. You're keeping me busy!
Nice review, what is the optical zoom capability of this camera? How does it compare to the HX90 orWX500? Thank you for your input.
It is 2.9x optical zoom compared to 30x of the HX90 and the WX500. Its a bit of a tradeoff between optical zoom vs quality of the RX100.
ha ha...may be that's true.....that's what big fans do.....and you are very interactive too..
I appreciate it! :D
With the fast lens the 3 stop neutral density is a nice and I think a new feature, but I skipped from the original to a RX100V.
RX100V is a solid camera for sure though!
Very nice camera! Thanks John
Great video, I wanna buy this camera for mainly concert photography, what do you think it's worth it?
If you're not too far away from the stage this would be a good camera to get that wouldn't be too big to carry around.
@@JohnSisonPhotography i am always close to the stage, first or second raw, the mobile phones are not the best when the singer is jumping around :) so i hope this camera will do the trick, plus is small and i can take it inside..

No you don't need a tripod, as long as the shutter speed isn't too slow, you should be fine.
New Rx0 review would be great as soon as you can find one in the wild.
Great review John. Now waiting for the a6500 review. :)
When I get my hands on it, I'll do one :)
You Filipino? Great review. Do you think it's still reasonable to get an M3 nowadays instead of M5?
Yes I am :) I'd skip the M3 and get the M5 instead.
I am going to get this camera modified like some are doing from ATG to use my
Canon XL-1's lenses.
What about video audio??
I like the camera and would love one but its price is way to steep. Im happy with my Rx100 M3.
great video subbed and wish i have this camera for my videos as well .
How does this camera compare to flagship smartphones?
Still good compared to smartphones especially when it comes to low light situations and detail.
How long this camera can shot in 1080p?
Can shoot in 1080p for 29mins which is the maximum recording time for the camera.
u telling me it only will do 6 mins of video before it shuts down if that's the case then I can't use this for edm or metal shows
How many FPS does it record in 4k?
hi! whats the best memory card for this camera? thanks.
I would say the Sandisk 64gb 280mbs would be the best card for it.
thanks!
Hi John! Please compare rx100V with a6500. Thank you.
I'll see what I can do :)
John Is this the latest in M5 ?
Yep. Its the latest so far.
Hi john can you please do a review on the sony hx80 please. Thanks much appreciated
It's not available in my country unfortunately but its exactly the same camera as the HX90 but the only difference is the HX80 does not have GPS.
It’s a sad time in history when a 2 second startup is a “long” time to wait. :-)
Understand your comment but a mirror reflex has 0.1s
I have the M1 version. Great camera but the slow startup does that I miss pictures
Sony A6500 review incoming i pressume?
Yes definitely!
do a review ofPanasonic Lx 10 camera and thankyou for replying
Hey john can u pls suggest me a camera under 300usd
Is the Sony HX90 under 300USD? If not, the Sony WX500.
John Sison tysm

Is mic good
Waiting for the a6500 review....
You'll love it. I love mine. Just wish they went all the way with the touchscreen though.

i hope Sony will remove the evf on the next rx100 series and bring back the multi interface hotshoe
what s the begin song name?
good video
Thank you!
How big are you? That camera looks so tiny in your hands lol
Hahaha I would say I have medium sized hands lol
It's tiny in everyone's hands. I highly recommend the optional Sony AR-G2 grip.
John Sison i have rx100m2 should I upgrade me to g7xm2 ore rx100m3 I am shooting most of all kids photos.
What about the sony a6500
When it arrives in Australia, I'll definitely do a video on it :)
if you zoom does the pictures have noise
No it doesn't.
I bought this in 2023 on ebay. I found I didn't like it. Too small and fidgety. Not good enough image. Similar Lumix has better color.
Jesus love you all✝️❤️
Seems awfully small 🤔
That's kinda the point. ;)
lasarith2 It's what you do with it what counts, and he did say it felt very solid in the hand.
are u pinoy
Yep :)
