- Kung Fu Panda 4 is easily the worst movie yet created. What happened here? What exactly is this?
No but seriously if they mess up shrek 5 like this, that's going to be a sad day. I don't really care about Kung Fu Panda. In fact I hope Kung fu Panda 5 is worse so I can see the bottom of the stairs. First one is masterpiece forever but franchise is weak. Especially now. They're going for that world record fall off.

The problem with Dreamworks is that their drive, their purpose from day 1 was to basically beat Disney. To prove Disney wrong, to show them that there are better ways to get good content out without resorting to wokeness or any of the other stuff Disney has gotten into, etc.
The problem there is that, in order to beat a multi-billion dollar corporation at their own game, you either have to be very smart about it... or you must yourself become a multi-billion dollar corporation. And once you hit that low, you start to realize the same thing Disney realized, which has made people feel such low opinions about them:
You don't need to make your products good; you just need to make the products serviceable enough to make a profit.
@@theterrorofdimensions1326 that's not the original intent with dreamworks. yes it was to challenge disney and do more, but disney was definitely not "woke" in the mid 90's. I think you should actually look into the intent and story to how dreamworks was founded between Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg, and David Greffen.

The Co-Director of the movie, Stephanie Mastine, had some amazing ideas. She said she wanted to make the movie truer to the first 2, and Jack Black himself said she brought actual depth and heart. Po would've had a vision of Shifu being kidnapped by the Chameleon, prompting Po to go on a quest to stop her. Despite his best efforts, she would've succeeded. This would've raised the stakes, displayed the Chameleon as a real threat, and allowed Shifu to be there at the end to say goodbye to Tai Lung. Stephanie also wanted Zhen's redemption to be more fleshed out, ensured it to have both dialogue and action, and for it to actually happen onscreen, much to the chagrin of the writers who just wanted her to swoop in out of nowhere to fight the Chameleon before quickly disappearing again.
Meanwhile, the director of the movie, Mike Mitchell, wanted the movie to be more laughs and joke-y. He wanted Chameleon and Zhen to have ZERO backstory whatsoever, and by the time the crew convinced him that, you know, giving the main villain a backstory is kind of important, they were too late to do anything more than add in those few lines. Many crewmembers came up with ideas for Zhen's backstory, but they were all discarded. The film was made so short because they believed children couldn't watch a longer film, and also because they'd get more money.
Guess which of these two guys they decided to give full creative freedom.

I heard they even referred to her as a nobody compared to Mike. I know she doesn't have any personal issues with Mike himself but with the execs who underestimated her. I would love a version directed by her and Jennifer Yuh Nelson.

Don't know much can't argue much but I'm gonna instantly trust a one piece fans opinion probably peak fiction and storytelling! Over that of something else. Simply because comparison of the two one piece is a very complex narrative of story telling and if a one piece fan like Sullivan d Luffy tells me (especially if he's all caught up) that his points on kung fu panda 2 being mid are bad the mf most likely knows what he's talking about. That's like calling Vegeta dog doodoo and not understanding the beauty of his sacrifice in the majin buu arc or db supers not my Bulma scene

theres an interview with the co-director which details what went wrong, mainly, the director wanted to go full-comedy, which would be fine but they were against things like giving Zhen or the Chameleon backstories, only being added last minute
Makes me so upset because chameleon is so cool just by design… she has a temple-arena with cages I meannnn how could you frick that up. she has the power to BRING BACK THE DEAD… the coolest thing about her was her creepy uncanny shapeshifting and they still did nothing with that

Honestly, I don't really understand how today's films affect people in particular.
Basically Shifu: "Po, we need a new, more diverse, more female character to replace you!" The moment Shifu told Po that he absolutely needed to find a replacement to be the new dragon warrior, I knew exactly where things were going (didn't see the trailer beforehand BTW), gawd Hollywood is so F'n predictable now, it's damn pathetic and at the risk of sounding like some old fogy, holy $#!t am I stoked to have been born in the 80s, what a time for movies/entertainment that was! XD
The absolute worst part of the movie is how Kai was treated. Kai was stuck in the spirit realm trying to escape for 500 years. All Kai wanted to do was gain control, escaping the spirit realm and then being put back in and taken out again he would not go back that easily.

I watched this in theatres because my friend wanted to see it and offered a ticket so i accepted. It just felt mostly very annoying and most of the jokes weren't funny. The whole plot was insanely predictable but the animation and some of the fight choreography was good I'd give it a 4 maybe a 3/10

Mike mitchell needs to be fired and never let back into a production studio/writers group EVER again. Absolutely butchered the franchise
They had an opportunity to bring Gary Oldman and J.K Simmons back to voice their respective characters (Shen and Kai) for a few scenes...They FAILED. I was disappointed because Oldman is a BRILLIANT actor and voice actor, same could be said for Simmons. Also, no way Shen or Kai would bow to Po, unless they found peace. Kai was destroyed in the previous movie and yet he's somehow in it, and his spirit must have somehow come back together?
Honestly if they make a Kung Fu Panda 5, they should retcon (and ignore) the events of this movie (KFP 4). They need better people in charge if that movie happens. At this point, the franchise needs a movie that has the greatness of both Kung Fu Panda 1 and 2.
I had a feeling this movie was going to suck. When a series goes on for so long that it gets to its 4th entry, it's bound to be awful.

The dude's a whole entire take on the previous movies is hot garbage, but the fourth movie. I agree with calling any of the previous three movies bad or "decent" is already landing your video in a bad take. The last three movies were practical perfection. The villains had great backstories. Great looks. The animation was good for its time. It had great character development and it actually made sense and those are all things Kung Fu Panda 4 completely messed up. Straight trash bro. I could have done a better plot. Wtf was that. How is the villain defeated in freaking 5 minutes by a nobody. They should have done the villain vs hero more competitive. For example defeating Po and trapping him in the cages, or better the “realm” with the others while the fox fights the villain and almost dies but escapes and is running to Shifu to warn him and to gather the furious 5. And when that has been done, the furious 5 and Shifu could have come and fight the villain to distract him, so the fox could fetch the stick and travel to the realm to seek after Po and together get advice from Oggway and travel back to the real world and have an intense fight with villain and save the day. And after that, it would be a perfect time for Po to accept the fox mistakes and promote him to be the dragon-warrior….

Yeah you can immediately know the movie's gonna suck when all the trailers have Po but he's evil now in the thumbnail, or when a random generic character gets introduced and has 0 personality the entire trailer he's in... or when they spend half the time showcasing dumb lame joke scenes like anyone is gonna care about that, or the most egregious sin, "look guys tai long is back!!!!" when you know he's gonna show up for a total of 3 seconds in the movie.
Oh yeah the villain looked bland and uninspired too, pretty much everything ive seen from these trailers including the forced ass 7 nation army music for no reason? all pointed out that this movie was gonna flop.
Apparently there were Six movies planned ever since the first one. They clearly did not plan this one at all, I don't even want the fifth and sixth movie if they are gonna be progressively worse than this one.
I haven't seen the movie yet, but based on the trailer, it gave me direct-to-streaming vibes.

Kung Fu Panda 3 was the "worst" in the series in the sense that it wasn't as good as the previous two, but that doesn't mean its necessarily a bad movie in a vacuum , its still an enjoyable kids movie to an extent.
Kung Fu Panda 4 just fucking sucks. Like I can't even see my 12 year old self enjoying this movie especially after watching the previous three.

The thing with kung Fu panda 3 is that it was the closing of Po's journey as a dragon warrior. It was straight to the point, it had good characters, a plot that although wasn't that deep it served to convey the message of Po coming to terms with his soul.
Kung fu panda had a perfect trilogy where the character explores the body (1), mind (2) and soul (3) by fully completing his path and finding his lost family in the process.
Making a movie where he chooses a successor is a good premise since the character has no more growth to do as the dragon warrior, but man did this movie fail hard to do anything.

I don't know how your thought process works but, KP 1,2,3 easy 8/10 averagely. The 4 I would give -1 because now everyone blaming the writer while it's the director's fault.
1) Even backwards people can get the hint that Zhen is gonna be next dragon warrior. Terrible delivery
2) This movie change Po's image. He literally become more selfish, Idk what the director thinking by changing the story
3) Dragon warrior selection felt so trash. First, I belive it's too early for him too choose a successor, he's not even reach Xi Fu's age when he was selected as dragon warrior. Secondly, the whole selection set up was so trash i don't get the hype at all.
3) All retrieved kung fu master without line or proper plot is unnecessary
4) I was so annoyed by how well she acknowledge Oogway yet she's unable to get his spirit. Even Kai was able to.
5) Imagine being a villain capable of shapeshifting, stealing all kung fu master's ability only to be defeated with her tongue to be stabbed by a staff. Weaker than Kai *spit*. HOW UNDERWHELMING.
Now they're announcing that there will be KP 5. I just hope that the director who ruin KP 4 don't have anything to do with those again. And I'm gonna pretend this movie didn't exist, because this piece of trash is equal to Avatar shamalan's movie.
Guessed zhen was the dragon warrior the first 10 minutes she was on screen? It's really going to take Sherlock Holmes to figure that one out. Kung Fu Panda 3, 2 and 1 are all 10 out of 10 for me. Great plot. Great movie. Great characters. Great villain. Backstory is great character development. They didn't fail anything. And even if this movie did fail some things that don't matter as much like maybe not that good animation I would be fine. But whatever you have the director planning TO NOT EVEN HAVE A BACK STORY FOR THE CHAMELEON because she obviously just serves as a placeholder for her to either get one shot by po (which she does) ot killed by the idiotic fox that has no fighting experience and only knows how to steal (she does) the entirety of the chameleon was just a placeholder for some idiotic reason to show off the character. Guess who's going to be the dragon warrior by the trailer " I need a dragon warrior because I'm getting a rank up for genuinely no reason" and then the next scene is just the dumbass fox the trailer itself was just a spoiler for the entire plot point of the movie. I agree man. This is just so predictable. And there's no back story on pretty much anything. Not on why you have to open the portal on a blood moon even though in the third movie Po opened it anytime he wanted. I loved this movie I do wish tai lung and po fought side by side in the final battle but it was still good seeing him again and he sees po as the true dragon warrior.

Icl I enjoyed Kung Fu Panda 4. It was pretty decent up until the final act in my opinion. I do agree I could’ve been better, but it’s far from bad, they definitely need to make the fifth movie better

I adore Kung Fu Panda with all my heart, but in my opinion- this movie was a huge disrespect to the ones before it. The second I saw the "animation style" - and millennial humor, I knew it'd be bad. Kung Fu Panda 2 is my absolute favorite movie in all of the trilogy. I've watched it so many times- listen to their incredible score almost every day. The visuals weren't ``over exagerated``, it was the perfect balance between amazing graphics, and REALISTIC lighting.
Now let's get to Po, the way he acted felt so much more realistic. At times he was silly, but when the serious times came- he was SERIOUS!
It seems like in the 3rd film- and now the 4th, they try to make him ``silly and goofy `` all the time. Po in the 1st and 2nd film had such a lovable personality, he had so much EMOTION, his facial expressions weren't over the top either. And I feel as if the characters actually had ``mass`` - like they were actually there. Also like, can we treat the villians seriously like we did in the first two films? They treated Kai like he was a joke- he had a lot of potential to be an INCREDIBLE villian! Especially with his theme song.
The lighting, backrounds, ESPECIALLY THE STORY, and the overall design of the movie was a perfect balance of everything.
In a way, ( Hopefully this makes sense ) - when I watched Po in the first two movies, I heard PO. I didn't hear Jack Black. But now, all I hear is Jack Black TRYING to be Po. It's just not the same anymore. The voice acting did not feel natural at all in the 4th- you could tell they were reading a script.
And Lord Shen, the darker tone to the film made it just THAT good. He had such a personal relation to Po- which made him all the more terrifying. I don't think this movie is horrible, it's just not up to par with the 1st, 2nd, and even the 3rd.

Nah nah nah, i full agree with you but Panda 1 & 2 where both like a solid 8/10, 3 was also great but we missed allot.. 7/10 and 4.. 3/10 movie sucked, wasted potential, why the fox?? Villain had a weak motivation, story sucked, movie too short, no background given and lame fight scene.. also HOW THE HELL DID THE FOX BEAT THE MAIN VILLAIN!?
I liked Kung-Fu panda 4 way more than 3. There are a lot of problems with it for sure, the villain is dog ass and doesnt make any sense, and by the end it's sort of a "what was the point of this movie?" situation. I totally get shitting on it, but in all honesty for my tastes, the pacing and comedy were vastly improved over the third movie, and I managed to see past the bullshit and enjoy myself with this movie unlike the third movie giving me an aneurism halfway through.
I'd give the first movie a 10, the second one a 9, the third a 2, and this one went way higher than i expected. if i were generous i'd give it an 8 purely based on how i was able to turn my brain off and enjoy myself, but it is a cash grab and that villain was dogshit so its closer to a 6.

You could review the original of course, but the fan made remake stands out to me since it's incredibly impressive that a bunch of random animators put in all that work for no pay.

A 2 bro this is like easily a 0.4 / 10 like bro it was horrid I went to the theatre back to back and was empty 3 or 5 times and the other 2 had only 1 and 3 groups enter like it was bad man- the Nickelodeon show from forever ago was far far far better and not even like the entire thing like every 2 episodes were better then the entire kung fu panda 4 movie easily

wow, the fourth movie in a dreamworks franchise is bad? who woulda thought! Glad I didn't waste my money watching this movie despite me enjoying the first film and a good amount of the second. also wasn't surprised by what you said in your kung fu panda 3 video. it always seemed like the franchise was just watered down for little babies; like what shrek the third did. Except in shrek's case the fourth movie is actually good.
