Yeah, you make a good point. Most people will hear like a Buckethead song, or a TOOL song, or a BERNTH song and think "Well I could never be this good, so why even try." However, for me I hear all these amazing songs and think "Woah. That's possible. Maybe I could do that with enough practice." I just cant bring myself to.

@@Ashvek I hope you can eventually reframe this experience.. don't force yourself if you can't do it right now. If you like music, find something else maybe completely different instrument or whatever, and after some time it will be better. When my ex left me, I was in really bad depression. And she left me this guitar, actually a good one... Which I could not even touch for like 2 or 3 years, because it immediately reminded me of her. In the beginning, I started with guitar music but when she left me I went in totally opposite direction, played synths and ambient and experimental stuff, but eventually after years and years I made a full circle. I just love heavy guitar sound, it is a big part of me. So after all, I just took this guitar and played for a little bit.. And it wasn't that bad anymore. Many guitarists, when afforded the privilege of high quality instruments and the bells and whistles of effects and amps...forget the essence of what a stringed instrument is. The worst guitar I have ever played was a 25,000 dollar taylor acoustic guitar. Why? Because I did not want to break it and I cannot play guitar properly on an instrument I am afraid to break. The best guitar I have ever played is probably any simple, basic electric or acoustic guitar with half decent action and interesting resonance quirks.
@@py_a_thon Hi 👋🏻 I tend to agree with you on this. I love the feel and sound of an expensive guitar 🎸… but I tend to be kinda rough on a lot of things ( including myself at times 😄) I do love a nice guitar and have a few cool ones. My favourite is a clear grey Ibanez SZ-720FM ( flame maple cap) I was lucky enough that my friend met Joe Satriani and had Satch autograph it for me ! It was about $1100 about 20 years back and was already my best guitar but having the man himself sign it made it next level cool to me, never thought that would happen. Funny part is when I bought it, I tried out about 20ish guitars that day and always kept going back to that Ibanez. It’s a very solid mahogany neck through and is a bit heavy ( about the same as a Les Paul if I had to guess) It just felt and played like a guitar worth 4x the money. So I figured … well I really like this guitar after playing all of the others , it looks really cool , plays like a dream has Seymore Duncan humbucker pick ups and sounds great to me. And if Joe Satriani likes Ibanez I’m willing to spend some cash and buy this guitar 🎸… obviously not knowing that he would actually sign it 5 years later ! That being said I do really love a cheaper mid grade pawn shop beater set up really well that you can just take anywhere and just toss it wherever like it’s an old pc of 2x4 😄. My Dad has a Martin acoustic special anniversary model that’s beautiful and old plays sweet ! 👍🏻 and 2 black Takamine acoustics both really nice 🙂 but I get what you’re saying I feel I have to actually think about that whole “Be Damn Careful dude “ when I go over to my Pops place and play those guitars they are all fairly pricey compared to what I usually play and in 100% Mint condition except for some very minor playing pick scratches 😄.
@@andrewpardue3324 There is some serious joy in playing a decent hundred dollar acoustic guitar...very loudly and heavily and percussively. I would never play an expensive guitar the same way.
Absolutely fantastic. Brilliant solo and I really like your singing, too. My first guitar was also a Warlock. It's still around, though I rarely play it these days. Nostalgia overload with this one!
This song is amazing!!! Right in the feels. 🤘🖤🤘 I loved how you put old videos of you playing the guitar in the video. I've been practicing and learning with your videos hopefully someday I'll be able to play decent enough. Thank you for sharing this AMAZING SONG! 🤘
Brother 😢 That shit hit really deep. I still have to remind myself sometimes I'm 39, because time just flies so fast. The memories just flooded out watching your memories flood out lol. Not to mention the guitar. I have this old Warlock with EMGs and my butchered wiring that I fixed recently and still play from time to time just for the nostalgia of it. It wasn't my first guitar but definitely my first guitar that I discovered metal with. It's good to go back and see how far you've come. Keep it up bro 🤘
I don't know how a single person can bring us such amazing singing, teaching and playing at the same time.. This song sent shivers to my hands, and actually - i nearly cried because how good it was... The end solo reminded me of "Floods" by Pantera, somehow. Huge cords, love em. Love the song
There are so much differencies between two axes from the exact same series. I had an almost same platty warlock (i had open bdsms in it) and it was my second best guitar ever after a few minor modifications. Nothing serious just rewiring ( i used only the bridge pick-up so i wired only that with the vol knob), fixing the trem and silencing the trems springs, file a bit the nut (cause i tune to A standard with 14-73 gauges) and drilled tuners holes a bit where it was necessary, put some lead in the electronics cavity and ofcourse used a littlebit of copper foil then set up the intonation and the strings height. She was an almost perfect workhorse for me. I think i could be a bit jealous cause you have fantastic instruments to play but that's would not be me at all. This songs give me chills i like it so much and the lyrics is very touching too. Love you man, keep up the good work! Cheers! :)
This one struck me into tears, bro... Your instrumentals are always killer - but fucking hell, great lyrics, dude! Such a simple topic (that anyone could relate to, which is awesome as well), but told into good poetry... You should definitely put out some more music with vocals dude. This one just sounded so heartful... Absolutely amazing!!
pretty addicted to Bernth atm, I have listened to nothing else for a couple of weeks now. I both love and hate all the songs are so short. A track like this could easilly be developed into much more. Love the live version! Crazy we only get the full chorus once. But it leaves me wanting more and more, so great job as ever!
I wake up every Saturday now and reach immedietly for my iPad to see what your next post is. 🖤 This was amazing. The solo was so great and seeing your old footage was awesome. 🔥🤯🤘
My very first electric guitar was a YAMAHA Pacifica 112 (and after 30 years I still love it), but as a teenager I wanted something more "metal" and ordered a BC RICH BICH from a printed catalogue in the 90s without ever touching it before. It was an horrible desicion. The head was damn heavy, the neck felt horrible on the low e string and even the sound was disappointing. But despite all these things, I learned and played a lot on this guitar. Even if it was on of the biggest mistakes I've done in my music-life, I have to say: remembering even the bad things or storys in life often give us shivers and reminds us, how fast time is running and how valuable it is.
As a fairly new guitarist of less than a year, this motivates me to become the best guitarist that I can possibly be, more than anything I have ever listened to before. Not only for guitar, this piece made me go back in time, take a look at my past, the good and the bad, made me realized how much I have progressed and how much time and distance I still have to cover, in music, and in every other aspect of life. Beautiful piece as always BERNTH. I hope this will be an inspiration to all of us here. We all fail. Strings break. Guitars go out of tune. Missing a note, losing the rhythm, popping blisters on our fingertips; all pain and suffering and failure, preparing us for that one day which we will all achieve greatness in our music and our lives. Peace out everyone, keep on shredding!
I did the exact same thing to my warlock! It currently sitting in my corner untill I re build it, but wicked to see that we both had the same first type of guitar and modded it the same. Killer Song! I love the lyrics
A Platinum Series Warlock is not a bad guitar, in fact it's really nice. I used to own a NJ Series Warlock, excellent guitar, all of my equipment got stolen, I found a Bronze Series Warlock, (not the greatest axe, but, I set it up well) on craigslist for $30, and the next day, found a Spider 3 for $40, and, I could play metal again... Sure wish I still had that NJ Series Warlock though...I miss that baby.
Black BC Rich Warlock was also my first guitar. Mine had a crappy Floyd Rose licensed floating bridge, though. Seeing you play this thing made me think back to that guitar. I don't think I wrote down the serial so no way to track it but maybe the store I bought it from recorded the serial number for that transaction.
My first guitar was a stratocaster copy with no truss rod. It's a surprisingly comfortable guitar for how cheap it is and I still play it often. Throughout my teenage years I would try different pointy guitars and kept going back to the strat shape. Now I'm a total Ibanez RG fan and regret not getting one sooner.
I’m the inverse of you. I started on a similar guitar and never went back after getting a king v. I always gravitate towards Flying V’s and extreme shapes but I still have the body husk of that guitar. One of these days I’m gonna bring it back to something far greater than it’s former glory. I’m gonna give it to my kid someday.
I still play my first often too. Got a beat-up Guild Bluesbird at about same age Bernth got his first. My next will be an RG or S now that Bernth has me ‘shredding’!
Very nice, Bernt. Reflective, emotional and dimensional. Loved the soft, dark, heavy nature of the song and the transitions into and out of each section.
Beautiful song. You playing is great as always. Your 240 facing the wrong direction is throwing me off though lol. I had to pull out my 440 to see if I was trippin thinking it was backwards.
Ahh, the Warlock! I actually had my best show-off moments in the guitar store on one. Was playing a Triple Rec and for some reason that BC Rich was just squealing out pinch harmonics. I always remember BC Rich for easy pinches and I have no idea why.
Man...!!!! WoW again !!! I have feel your hard working and all the sacrifice you did to be what you are. And what you are ? R: One off the best guitar players than i know. Really i'm always impress by your creativity. On this song we see your emotional side, and we fell it. I have 46 yrs old and you are a model for me. Your touch, your dexterity, your personality, your crazy creativity... Just wow !!! Have a good day man.
My first guitar was a Bronze Series Warlock with a little Ibanez amp. It'll be 23 years ago this summer since I began playing. No idea where that Warlock is now.
You should have the finish on that redone (body and neck). The natural finish with black sides/edges on a Warlock does look really, really good!!! Also, the track was rather cool too!!! 😀
Nice. I still have my very first guitar. Fender Strat Squire that I bought in 2007. Artwork was OBEY brand, featuring a snake with a sword through it. I'll never get rid of that thing.
I gotta say I love this solo (obv the whole song as well) and much prefer it over the highly technical and insanely fast & accurate solos I usually find on this channel. And don't get me wrong here: I would love to just have a fraction of Bernth's skill and I use his video a ton to learn new things. I just think that, from a listener and not guitarist perspective, this is much more enjoyable and I'd happily listen to this as I go about my day.
I appreciate how advanced guitarists are these days. But for me it doesnt get any better than when you hear something that you can actually feel. In any genre when a musician is able to translate this type of feeling into the music is what I appreciate the most. Bernth, man did I feel that solo
This guitar reminds me of my graduation day from 9th grade. My buddy got a cash prize for having such good grades, and we immediately got on the bus to the nearest music store an hour away, where we had seen a B.C.Rich on the wall. It was a Bronze Series Warlock for 300 Euros (similar to the one in this video but with a hard tail wraparound bridge). With the prize money, some money he'd saved up, and finally a loan from me for the rest, he brought it home, and I was super jealous. 15 years later, he was cleaning out his old room at his folks house and the guitar was still there. He asked if I still wanted it..... So it's currently sitting in my closet waiting for some new parts =)
Bro that was good, on your "worst" guitar it still sounding amazing! Do you think you can make a video, or even a short, on how to make chorus vocal melodies? I especially loves this one, but I can never get anything that is amazing
When i was in my first band i saw Max Cavalera playing a BC Rich (when he was in Sepultura - playing in Graz 20 Years ago) and i so wanted to have this Guitar. But due to budget reasons i went for a "Rockwood". Boy THAT was a bad Guitar!
I got to tell you. I woke up and right before that I was dreaming and in that dream I heard this song on the radio when I was on a store called Clas Ohlson here in Sweden in the dream. In the dream when I heard the song I got totally exited cuz it was played on the radio. Ok back to sleep and I love this song cuz it reminds me of my youth when I was playing in different black/goth/death/thrash bands with my friends here in Västerås Sweden during late 90s early 2000s. I love this song.
this really got me man, i didn’t expect much after all that “i filled my guitar with water” or “i put rubber bands strings on my guitar” bullshit. but this was real 👍 love it
That was my first guitar i also removed the black and repainted with original camilion paint looks purple but changes 7 different colors the paint cost more than the guitar
Outstanding. The Legend of Bernth continues to grow. Your name will not be buried in the sands of time, but remembered for the inspiration and joy you've brought to the world. I, for one, am a better guitarist and human being for your efforts, and your humble generosity. Thank you, brother.
i saw the cover pic and thought, "no my dad would die if this is it" hjahaha for years dad has always wanted to get a bc rich nt warlock. being in aus and also a left handed player there wasnt really any way to even try it out at music shops. the performance part sounded great as usual! keep it up!!!!
Getting some serious ‘Unforgiven’ solo vibes from your solo, which is definitely NOT a bad thing. Played with real emotion and feeling, still flashy but soulful too - my favourite kind of solo. The whole track is tremulous, but the solo absolutely kills. So, so good.
The verdict is out: WE HAVE A BANGER!! 🔥🔥🔥 There's something about "crappy first guitars" that makes them very inspiring to play. I have an old Ibanez 7-string that has trouble staying in tune and leaves both my hands full of scratches after I play it, but every time I pick it up a new song idea instantly pops up
I just found your channel last week but man does your stuff hit home. Went and purchased a bunch of your songs my friend you quickly become on of my favorites🔥🤘
The song is incredible in terms of how it captures the theme. Btw could you kindly share the vocal chain or some advice on how to get that vocal? (I'm experienced in mixing)
I have a bronze Warlock and a platinum Ironbird - they have by far the best neck (very slim/thin) to me for the black/death/thrash I play. In fact I've tried much more expensive "higher quality" brands such as Jackson, Ibanez, Gibson, Washburn - none of them have a fast enough neck for me. Any recommendations?
That’s so awesome to hear ! 🤘🏻🙂 cheers 🍻 dude ! As a guitarist of over 35 years myself… your brother would be happy and very proud 🙂🤔 he’d also want you to play the shit outa that guitar 🎸 😄 ! A part of his spirit will always be with you … especially when your playing his old guitar! That’s exactly what I hope happens to all of my guitars after I pass away … don’t just hang them up on a wall forever! Especially the Ibanez that Joe Satriani autographed! Play that axe 🎸 with everything you got ! 😊.
Wish I still had my first axe. It was a super cheap strat knock off. It sounded like shit, but what matters to me are those memories of learning how to play songs for the first time. Sitting by my cd player and realizing the song I was listening to was detuned. I still have the second guitar I owned though, which I definitely played more. It was a Paul Stanley signature. It only had one fucking humbucker, but as a 16 year old even a cheap Flying V was sick. I had to remove all the electronics, since everything was fucked from it somehow getting wet in storage, but I still have the body and plan on rebuilding it at some point.

Cheers! :)
That was simply beautiful. Not only the guitar skill which we all know you have in abundance, but the lyrics match perfectly. Excellent work. 👏🏼
That Solo was beautiful, the slides and the end clime made the hair on my body stand in ovation, Thank you.
Incredible Track Bernth. Never knew you had such an amazing voice!
Old is gold. Bernth you are our shred king you are amazing. Love watching your videos.
I wake up every Saturday now and reach immedietly for my iPad to see what your next post is. 🖤
This was amazing.
Great! Also a good example for how you evolved your right hand pick hold technique as explained in some other video
I always saw the warlock type guitars as having the electric guitar body style that jumped the shark.
1:04 " life gives and then it takes" that hit hard...my best friend/brother died 4 days ago...I carried his coffin...
Peace brother he would be happy to know you were there… 🙂
This was beautiful man thanks for sharing. It's been such a pleasure watching you progress. All the best to you Bernth!
Wow !!👏👏👏👏👏 hits home brother..just turned 57 and been doing a lot of remembering.. then I hear this…even the bc rich.. mine was red lol
Wow! For some reason, that solo reminded me of something Olli Tukiainen (Poets of the Fall) might play. Beautiful!
Thanks for the Content Bernth!
Very nice song and Emotional feeling!
Love from germany
Beautiful song. You playing is great as always. Your 240 facing the wrong direction is throwing me off though lol. I had to pull out my 440 to see if I was trippin thinking it was backwards.
Love it! You're such a great musician and teacher! 🤘
You're a fing Warlock bro...... amazing. The words flowed like water........
Dude! That sounded awesome. Loved the solo part as well as the whole song. Great performance 🤘
All of your videos are.
Just joined your Payreon! My first electric guitar was also a BC Rich warlock. I loved/love Mick Thomson so I had to get that one.
Shivers….. great song and such strong lyrics.. as for the solo wow, beautiful.
Amazing😎 we need to know the text to your other singing songs!
You absolutely need to sing more!!! Simply spine tingling brother!
Solo somehow reminds me of Andy Gillion's work on Mors Principium Est, especially "Apricity".
Awesome solo, super melodic and tasteful. You rock brother!
Nice. I still have my very first guitar. Fender Strat Squire that I bought in 2007. Artwork was OBEY brand, featuring a snake with a sword through it. I'll never get rid of that thing.
Glad to hear you make your voice shine. Would be absolutely stoked to hear it in a more prog-metal context as per the style of an "Elevation" song.
Fire, water, wind, elasticity now time. I wonder whats gonna be the next time
wow, words cannot describe how intense this was Bernth. It had so many levels. Thank you for sharing this amazing piece of art with us.
Loved it man. Killer solo. All of it good. Great post. Inspirational for sure.
Wow Bernth, like being reunited with an intimate yet estranged old friend: pain and sorrow, yet understanding.
Warlock and Flying V guitars are beauty AF
Going back to old guitars really inspires new creativity
I appreciate how advanced guitarists are these days. But for me it doesnt get any better than when you hear something that you can actually feel. In any genre when a musician is able to translate this type of feeling into the music is what I appreciate the most. Bernth, man did I feel that solo
Guitar Skill (God Level)
Singing Skill (Badass Level)
Damn! Bernth the best modern guitarist 🤟😎
Love the solo mate, the lyrics... damn, kinda hit me more, maybe because i'm turning 40 next month. cool stuff!
The lyrics really resonated with me. Very moving song. Thank you for all of your creations.
Bernth! Man! So Nostalgic and motivating... Just speechless.
This is so amazing, from intro guitar to singing and the lyrics just perfect. 🙏❤️
I love this song.
this really got me man, i didn’t expect much after all that “i filled my guitar with water” or “i put rubber bands strings on my guitar” bullshit. but this was real 👍 love it
Far out man. This is my favourite peice of yours. Nothing has hit me this way in a long time. As life fades into never, i begin to understand.
That 24 fret bend got me soooo good
That was my first guitar i also removed the black and repainted with original camilion paint looks purple but changes 7 different colors the paint cost more than the guitar
Bro that solo is fucking insane I have so much adrenaline atm because of that
My first electric 6 string is Warlock too.
My first was a BC Rich Warbeast MK3 in black and red 😂 very nostalgic
Great solo. I love single-string stuff...sliding up and down. Sounds epic.
Bringing back old Bernth 🎉🎉
You can be a billionaire if you solve this problem 👉 The Connections (2021) [short documentary] 💖
Outstanding. The Legend of Bernth continues to grow. Your name will not be buried in the sands of time, but remembered for the inspiration and joy you've brought to the world. I, for one, am a better guitarist and human being for your efforts, and your humble generosity. Thank you, brother.
I actually think the base idea and the style you wanted for the Warlock is perky fucking cool
You are a very humble and transparent person. Thank you for your dedication and your help in my musical journey. Much respect.
Very good, I would love to hear the story of how you tracked down that guitar
i saw the cover pic and thought, "no my dad would die if this is it" hjahaha for years dad has always wanted to get a bc rich nt warlock. being in aus and also a left handed player there wasnt really any way to even try it out at music shops. the performance part sounded great as usual! keep it up!!!!
Getting some serious ‘Unforgiven’ solo vibes from your solo, which is definitely NOT a bad thing. Played with real emotion and feeling, still flashy but soulful too - my favourite kind of solo. The whole track is tremulous, but the solo absolutely kills. So, so good.
Prolific and moving...incredibly melodic solo...one of my favorites of yours yet
Aside from the solo, which was beyond amazing, can we talk about the beautiful lyrics?
Breathtaking.
The verdict is out: WE HAVE A BANGER!! 🔥🔥🔥 There's something about "crappy first guitars" that makes them very inspiring to play. I have an old Ibanez 7-string that has trouble staying in tune and leaves both my hands full of scratches after I play it, but every time I pick it up a new song idea instantly pops up
bro i felt the ghost of past guitar players salute you thank you for what u do
Awesome solo Bernth! Absolutely inspiring
Nice solo! I love how you don’t feel the need to shred every solo.
I just found your channel last week but man does your stuff hit home. Went and purchased a bunch of your songs my friend you quickly become on of my favorites🔥🤘
I have that guitar hanging on my wall (yellow version with(out a bridge at all actually)a FR route. Won it at a carnival like 20 yrs ago lol
2nd this
My brother learned on a warlock. He died 2 years ago and since, Ive been learning to play on that same guitar. This video speaks to my soul
