That is a great video Robin. It was one of the first in Turkey and inspired to create my own channel. I make POV Street Photo videos too! Greetings from Turkey :)

Fantastic video, Robin! Loved the presentation and the way you walked us through the city while also giving hints and talking about your process. Really informative and inspirational on what to look out for and how to see a place. Great work as always!

Yeah, everything is going well. I've been doing some photo walks and will start posting new videos soon :) excited about it! I feel like I'm making good progress lately; my "style" is becoming more defined.
What about you? Are you in Germany right now? How are things?

Great video! Just a note: both books have either foreword or some editing done by Orhan Pamuk - great writer and a Nobel laurate in literature. Ara Güler says he regarded Pamuk as his son.

I adored Istanbul when I went in Dec 2017. Hope to be back. As you said, great city, yummy food, cheap prices and great tattoo artists!

I went last year and for my first street shooting session I hired a local photographer to show me the way of the land.... I can't recommend it enough. He also said he was available for night sessions which was great cause I was traveling alone and this gave me the confidence I need it to navigate the city at night and tae some epic shots. During the day I felt super save, just don't be like all the tourist and blend in and you should be fine. A most go for sure.....

Haven't shot in Istanbul at night, but I am pretty sure it would be great too.

Istanbul is one of my favorite big cities I've visited. It's the crossroads for so many people. Yes, some of the neighborhoods around Taksim square are sketchy, but interesting during the day. It is the only place where people didn't seem to warm up to the camera. Seemed to be a lot of refugees from the region packed into buildings that were scheduled to be destroyed. Also saw a guy in another area of town near what seemed to be Russian owned shops that had the gun in his waistband become exposed briefly when he was getting up from his sitting position. 😅 Otherwise, the shopping districts for the locals are super interesting, unlike the shopping for the tourists.
Walking is the best way to see the city, but you also have ferries, buses and the metro to get you into the various neighborhoods. Go to the palace overlooking the Bosporus to get best views. My only regret was not getting tickets to any of the major sports supported there.

I was there earlier this month, I have some images on my Insta. I was hoping to buy some cheap Fuji stuff but couldn't find a shop selling Fuji anywhere - Canon and Nikon aplenty but no Fuji. I loved instanbul. I took over 1570 shots, not one bit of trouble or comment. Just a shame that the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia were being refurbished. Hard to get images without getting the scaffolding in as well 😜
