I was supposed to go to Istanbul in January 2021, postponed to 2022, and now postponed to 2023. I've been there previously in 2004, 2011, and 2017. (I was in Istanbul for the record snowfall in January 2017. That made for quite a different view of the city!) Great suggestions in your video. Thanks! Some spots I like: Rumeli Hisan Fortress from the water and the interiors of the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. Ultra wide angle fun and interesting options with a fisheye.
Hope that you can make it back soon, it is a beautiful place. I have never seen it in the snow, but it would definitely be one of the things to do, I am fortunate that I am only an hour away from Istanbul with daily flights, so it's easy to get to. I was not aware of the Rumeli Hisan, thanks for the suggestion. I agree the interiors of the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia are spectacular. The Hagia Sophia has been returned to a mosque, having been a museum for many years, but it is still fully accessible and open for photography.
Depends on what you are palnning to shoot. For day to day, a polarizer would be useful, especially with all the water around the city. Long exposures, get some NDs. If you are shooting video, a variable ND will definitely be required for good looking footage
Really enjoyed your video and agree with all your selections. We loved photographing in Istanbul and are returning next month. One thing we desperately want to capture is a performance by the Whirling Dervishes - would you know where we could book such an experience? Thanks Again, Colin Paul
Glad you enjoyed the video. TBH I had to Google Whirling Dervishes, so I , unfortunately cannot help you with that, other than hotels might be able to book on for you
Have you been to Istanbul? What was your experience of shooting there?
Wonderful city. Magical
It is a fantastic place
Beautiful suggestions. Wish I had watched it before I was in the city recently!
I hope that you get the chance to return there soon.

Glad you enjoyed it. It's one of my favourite locations to shoot
I'm going next week, and staying within walking distance of your suggested locations.
Enjoy, it's an endlessly photogenic city and at this time of year, the light can be spectacular
Nice work. Any recommendations for filters?

nice video!! i go to istambul in september, from witch point you make picture of the Doncella Tower? many thanks!
The tower was taken from the waterfront at Uskudar on the Asian side. There are ferries across from Karkoy and Eminonou
