  • When it comes to braiding and banding, I think we all have a love/hate relationship. Now that my locs are over a year old, I wash my hair a little differently. I make less braids, don't make my rubber bands as tight, and get through it much faster than before.

    It's funny when I hear people say they dislike the SL starter shampoo because it doesn't lather. It does and plenty.

      Agree it lathers great for me and I dilute it with water in a spray bottle when I apply it. I wash at least 3 times it does burn like heck if it drips in your eyes though.

    Hi Kyla I’m still braiding and banding at 9 mos Sisterloc’d. I like when my locs dry and the braid out Kringle look is so cute 🥰 on my thin fine low density locs! I think I will continue for years to come. It’s not that much of a chore to braid and band so if it works and not broken don’t stop lol.

    Hey Ms Kyla👋🏾 first off, your locs are absolutely AMAZING! #locgoals💕 secondly, how many times would you say you wash your locs between re-ties? I usually get three washes in before I do a re-tie. I’m almost 5 months in and I find myself having to re-tie the front perimeter and a small area in the nape because my hair is super fine in these areas. So I decided to re-tie those areas first before washing to keep them from unraveling. 🤷🏾‍♀️ it’s frustrating sometimes though. I still braid and band by the way. I’m confident that when they are fully matured and have grown some, I won’t have to do it this way. Be blessed!

    Hi Kyla!
    I am newly loc'd😁. I've had my sisterlocs for 5 days. How often do you wash your hair? I was told you wash my hair with dawn dishwashing soap. Why a tshirt? What do you use if your scalp itches? Sorry, I have questions.

    • @TheRealKylaB
      @TheRealKylaB  3 года назад +2

      Hey Devra! Congratulations!
      I wash my hair every 2-3 weeks, and whenever I can’t stand the smell. (If it smells too much like good or if I was around people who smoke). I use a t shirt - always a black one, because it leaves less lint in my hair and causes less frizz than a towel. I’ve used a T-shirt since I was a loose natural. Lastly, my scalp wasn’t. Dry itchy when I had my locs installed. My hair was used to minimal products (especially used to me not putting anything on the scalp) so I didn’t have too much itching during the transition to locs period.

    • @TheRealKylaB
      @TheRealKylaB  Год назад +2

      No. I banded in the beginning of the video. But my locs were over a year old in this video. Braiding and banding wasn’t really necessary at this point in my journey. Braiding and banding has nothing to do with curly ends. The purpose of braiding and banding is to keep your hair from unraveling during the washing process.
