Same dresser, two similar yet very different looks! I had the opportunity to buy back a piece that I had previously redone just over two years ago. I'm doing a two toned look again, but with even subtle differences in colour and styling, AND different hardware, this piece has a fresh new look. I was also able to make repairs to the drawer guides that I wasn't able to do the first time around.

It turned out beautifully! I’m not generally a fan of gold, but I definitely agree it was the way to go here. The shape of those knobs looks so much more high-end as well! Really nice “flip”! The first version was beautiful, too, but this redo definitely takes it up several notches!

This definitely shows how much you have progressed in just 2 years! The 1st restore was amazing but this…..girl…. is beautiful! The choice of color (which doesn’t seem as dark as hand painted flower dresser) and choice of pulls, all over the top! Hoping this next video shows how to fix wanky drawers that wiggle in place if that makes sense. Or a whole video on fixing dresser drawers? Once again, your talent is soaring!

The final iteration is so beautiful! The wood tone is so nice next to the paint, I think this is a great example of how just a slight tone change can make something look so eye catching!

Likewise, this is really nice! The new "dipped" look makes more sense, and is more consistent with the feet being painted and the dip line being at the same level all around. The wash really subdues the wildness of the pine grain, but letting it be a bit natural. I think either the black or gold handles would work with this color arrangement, so maybe it would just be a buyer's choice.

I love the new look - personally I like the gold handles more on the painted section, and think it could be cool to mix the hardware since its a dipped look, I really like the contrast of the black hardware on the paintwash!

Have you ever thought of using a scale to measure. That you you can keep custom paint formulas and wont have to guess. Im a hairstylist and thats what I do for my clients haircolor.
This came out a million times sexier somehow. And I really liked the original lol. Just awesome❤
First iteration was perfect with black hardware. The sharp contrast between the two colors gave it a contemporary look which was greatly enhanced with black pieces. The second iteration also uses the contemporary vocabulary but the contrast is smoother. Brass hardware adds a touch of sophistication and elegance to the finish.
Personally, I don’t know yet which iteration I prefer: both are stunning. Great job and thank you for sharing!

Gold for the win! What a beauty! IS THERE ANY RISK, since you didn’t prime the top, that the knots will bleed through your wash? I’m getting ready to paint wash a very knotty pine.
When in doubt though, and you’re new to painting, you can just prime every time and not have to worry about it. I’ve been doing this a while so I’m pretty familiar with which colours are going to be an issue if the original finish is either missing or not shellac based (shellac is what seals in those tannins).

Hi, Love Your Videos. Question, what type of Wood filler would You recommend, I have a 80s Patio Home with Builders grade Kitchen Cabinets, with "MDF or Particleboard?" with veneer over it. The Veneer has a router design. I want to Fill in the design, sand Smooth and Paint. Also type of Paint?
The long answer here, is as much as I would LOVE to be able to help everyone who reaches out, there sadly just aren’t enough hours in the day. There is another side to this as well- sometimes things don’t come across properly through photos and videos, and are best seen, felt, etc in person. For THIS reason, it can sometimes be difficult to accurately determine the age, finish, wood species, etc of people’s project pieces. There is also the element of user error, when recommending products and finishes, or misinterpretation of my instructions.
I get, on average, approx 40+ messages per day between Instagram, FB, RUclips, and email (and literally hundreds of questions in the comments). It is unfortunately just not possible to be able to get back to everyone.
The short answer is this: you can certainly message me on Instagram and if it’s a simple answer, I may try to help you out. But PLEASE don’t take offence if I’m unable to respond! I need more hours in a day!

Definitely the gold handles, its taken it up a notch. Whilst the original makeover was good, I just love seeing how far you have come regarding the 'little'details like masking off where the drawers go, what needs to be done if turned up-side-down AND woodworking skillz (awesome to have the tools now). I much prefer this make over, even the finish over the wash looks more hardy and 'finished'. Awesome as always, keep up the smashing work.

I’m curious as to what the whole piece done with the wash (no dip) technique would end up looking like? Would that just be too boring to the “modern” eye/buyer?
I have a pine canopy bed and it’s matching armoire that I’d like to consider utilizing this treatment. It has gone so bright orange! The dark sections and knots are poopy , dark brown. Yuck! So please, keep letting us know how pine can be “saved” from the finishes of the 1990s.
Then, I need help with our dark stained oak dining room set. None of my kids want it, so I need to repurpose it and try to make it look appealing to a modern buyer. As it is, this summer we are going to try to redo the upper cabinet into a separate unit. I have so much work to do on that piece but I’m so nervous. I love wood and redoing pieces to make them up to more modern standards just seems like the right thing to do with them.
My grandfather used to do what you are doing “back in the day”. But, his wood pieces were late 19th and early 20th century pieces that he refurbished for his 1970s antique buyers. Way back then he introduced me to “circa 1850” stripper…, it’s so interesting to me to watch you doing what he used to do, making tired pieces “wake up again”! It’s so interesting to see how this has morphed through to your generation. I’m really enjoying this experience a great deal!! Keep up the great content.
