Hi! This tutorial could've come at a better time for me! I like your idea I've kicked the idea around for sometime to complete a vintage wooden hostess cart / with wheels or take wheels off and whitewash, cherry stain, black stain or paint black with a metallic edging possibly. Thank you!!! ♥️🙏👍

@LemonstoLemonadeFurniture Nice piece!! 👍🏻💝 I heard you mentioned in the video that the wax is scented - following the link you gave for the furniture wax, their ad says nothing about it being scented. Is this (from Real Milk Paint) actually the same wax that you mentioned in the video?

Hi from Australia. One thing that would help the drawer sanding to be less wobbly, is to put a couple of bricks inside each drawer.

Just an FYI for people. Denatured alcohol rubbed on furniture with old dark varnish will lighten the coat two times lighter. Then rinse and dry your item. Use Johnson Paste wax rubbed in well.

The cabinet is beautiful❤. Two handles on each of the drawers look bit heavy. I may have filled in screw holes with woodfiller and drilled a new centre hole for one handle on each of the drawers. Not saying this would be better but handles are beautiful and so ornate that two look little heavy on this now simplified beautiful cabinet.❤

    LOVELY!!
I have to admit... as much as I hated those over-designed French Revival handles with the original red/orange finish they look much more appropriate all cleaned up with the weathered white wood!
Amazing what miracles a little love and attention (and sweat equity) can accomplish.

Beautiful!! You did a fantastic job! I honestly didn't have much hope for ANYTHING pulling that dresser out of it's ugly. I'm a 63 year old beginner who absolutely loves revamping old wooden pieces from boxes to cabinets to furniture. This video has been a godsend for me because I've not gotten to the point that I'm 100% happy with my results consistently and had become discouraged to continue on other projects recently. I now see that unexpected results do happen sometimes. The ghost handles problem really wasn't a problem but only a hiccup if dealt with like this girl did. I now have a renewed, refreshed outlook on future projects. Thanks so much for that because I had really just given up on something that I totally enjoyed. ❤

I do not love the hardware with it--the tone is now cool, and the handles have a warm tone. i think changing the hardware will help it sell. I also think it needs legs, and I might have conditioned the wood first to tone down the knots on the piece. So, I still think you are fabulous! Great work!

I want to make it look Country French. You've inspired me! And btw good job reusing the handles. I did that with kitchen cabinets. They were expensive brass handles just like yours and I cleaned them up as you did and it surprised me how good they looked. I took deeply stained dark kitchen cabinets and made them over with a beautiful green (candy apple?) paint that worked beautifully in a large farmhouse kitchen with French Country accents and wallpaper. I painted the old speckled countertop that screamed 1960 a bright white (Beyond ALL in One) and when I sold that house (in 2 days) that kitchen redo made everyone at the open house comment it was gorgeous. It looked very expensive but I did it all (paint, new wall paper, and curtains) for

I think it turned out great! I love flipping furniture and my neighbors call me the “dumpster rat”. I don’t mind at all. Actually it is a compliment. As far as this comment, the tools you were using, work very well to “tear down” (an upholster’s term) furniture without damaging the fabric. That is, if I intend to reuse the fabric. (I only pick garbage, I try to salvage everything. However if I don’t intend to reuse the material on the piece it came from, I will cut along the bottom, just above the staple line. Pulling staples is very time consuming. Then you can either go over what is left, or pull it out with some pliers and hammer down any staples that come out while removing the fabric. ( I try for perfection every time.) About the tool, If you can just get in under one corner and use a gentle prying motion, the staple will give. If not try something a little thinner first to get it started. Don’t go for the center. It will not turn out well. I’m in the middle of redoing a sofa chaise combo that is more vinyl than leather, and I’m going to reuse the materials So, gentle is the key for this any many more fabrics that still have life in them. You can also find many free tic tok videos as inspiration. I only have 200.00 in total invested and it is for my apartment. If you would like, I would be glad to answer any questions you have, as I was a high end piece rate upholster for almost ten years before making a career (educated) as an interior designer. I no longer work a job, which gives me lots of time to “putter”. I am a decent upholster, but my true talent lies in fixing screw ups. I can hide things on furniture, both case goods and soft goods, that don’t seem possible. I do so without compromising the quality of the piece. That is why I liked watching you bleach this piece. It didnt seem expensive, hard or very time consuming. They are the top three things I look for when redoing furniture. Waste not want not!!! My current sofa is going to become a recliner, at least one poof ottoman. It is very nice distressed cowhide. I’m thinking pillows and maybe coin purses with the rest. I’m sorry this is so long, but you seem so genuinely i treated, I thought you may appreciate the value of my experience. If you made it this far, thank you for humoring an old lady. If you are interested I will send you some pictures. They is nothing wrong with the outsides of the sofa. It looks great u til you look and know what to look for. Again I like your style and you made me feel very comfortable to watch you and then leave you a “journal” . They is much more where that came from. Sincerely, Loretta thedizzydesigner@gmail.com

The world needs more "Dumpster Rats"! That's my passion too. Sadly (or happily?) I now live in a country where discarded furniture is really at the end of it's life - but that too is changing as folks are throwing out solid wood, old furniture in favour of modern MDF and Chipboard.

Barkeeps Friend is amazing for cleaning brass... It works almost by itself.

You might try using a flat black paint on the hardware and use on another project.

I loved it after it was sanded down. I would have done a light varnish. The natural wood was gorgeous. I also would have cleaned the original hardware and reused. To each his own though. ❤😊
