I went to Southridge when I was a 2 year old toddler I went back in July 2020 I now live near the mall in Greenfield just 2 1/2 blocks away
Thanx for the video update. I finally got back to SOUTHRIDGE for the first time this week, and although it was busy, it certainly was not like it ever was in the 1970's when I worked there at Christmas time. Back then (in high school) there was a kind of comradery to work in the mall with others from your high school--almost like there was competition between schools and who of your friends you could get in. But then, that was when we all killed for jobs period...even at McDonalds or (yup) FARRELL'S. But now with SEARS (2017), BOSTON STORE, (2018) and KOHLS (relocated) or gone from the mall, the property owners (SIMON) turned over the deed to the lenders to avoid foreclosure. Southridge used to have 10,000 parking stalls, and people would have to wait in line until one car backed out of one to get one it was that busy up until 10PM. Sigh, Those really were the good old days.
Could you do another walkthrough of this Mall. :) Along with the Fox River Mall in Appleton, Wisconsin.
Last time I went there I’ve seen the Disney store Closed and Kohl’s being gone. And a whole new arcade. I’ve also noticed that the Italian food restaurant by the entrance has been replaced.
Yeah, it's not panning out so well. Simon turned it over to the lender by the end of the year last year and washed their hands of it.
I love this mall I go here a lot
So I had a similar experience with the general manager of the Charlestowne Mall back in 2011 or so but nowhere near as pleasant. She was completely in denial about the future of the mall despite it being over 80 percent vacant she insisted everything was going to be fine and the mall did not need to make any changes.
That said to be such a common occurance. The security person I talked to at the orchards mall said the same thing despite only 2 or 3 stores left.
@@UrbexAPeakInside I also had a similar encounter with a guard, at Jamestown Mall in the Saint Louis area (Florissant, MO specifically) when I briefly asked about the future of that mall back in March 2014. This encounter was right when I was done taking photos, and encountered that guy in the food court right when I was about to leave the mall. It seemed like that guard was in denial about the future of that place, although I had a bad feeling the future wasn't good for that mall. Note I did NOT say that thought out loud to the guard, and that myself I wished the guard and also the future of that mall well. Too bad Jamestown closed, and the mall has rotted to the point where it inevitably will be demolished eventually. Sadly I was right, considering that mall closed in July 2014.
I went to West Towne Mall in Madison WI today expecting large crowds. I wore my mask with the intention to do a quick walk through to document which stores were open. I think I could count the number of open stores on one hand. Only one sandwich place in the food court open. And not many people at all. It was very surreal being in the mall and having it so empty and I’d say 90% of the store fronts were closed.
I was surprised also
Wonder what is going to happen now that the mall was sold.
Why does your tape stop just before you get to the used book store? There's not much like it in any suburban mall I'm familiar with (yes, I do work there part-time).
I haven't been back into my mall yet since it reopened. I'm going to give it a while.
What is your local mall
@@UrbexAPeakInside Glenbrook Square in Fort Wayne
can you get the app of Southridge mall online shopping list for amazon if you want to
Wow it is dead there but that is expected I have to get there my self but I do need to get inside Regency now that its open here in Racine
When did regency mall open? I called one of the department stores on Saturday and the store has not opened up into the mall yet.
@@UrbexAPeakInside i assumed it open Tuesday when the order was officially lifted i drove past and saw cars parked in the lot I will have to check
Most places are opening but have restrictions and there is a law restricting large gatherings on place inril july 31
@@UrbexAPeakInside it is opening just like Southridge alot of stores still closed but the mall is still open
From what I've read Racine county is holding back. There are many restaurants there that are not open yet and I think from what I've heard only a limited amount of department stores have opened at the mall. June 1st I think is the opening date but don't quote me on that.
@@UrbexAPeakInside yeah thst is pretty much it most of racine is slowly opening up with restrictions on place limiting the number of people allowed inside some places
Just curious. Are you from Milwaukee? Because I am.
I am. This is my home town mall.
Urbex- A Peak Inside Cool. I commented on your Northridge video about that mall being my childhood mall we went to the most as a little kid. I grew up originally in Brown Deer just east of where Northridge is. Then moved out to Menomonee Falls.
