I pretty much quit going there after World Market and the show shine guy on the first floor left. Glad to see it's still in business though. Lived close by there 2007-13
I can remember when the location for this was a farm field and some 40s and older houses and a small pond I think. Watched it get built, had my first get out of school early job there, my first fender bender in the parking lot, there used to be a head shop there in the mid 70s, plenty of friends had jobs there, met lots of girls there, ahhh, the memories
Beautiful mall. And great video. I enjoy your videos. It's almost as if you're floating, when you're waking through the mall(s). Keep the vids coming! ☺️
+Ken Hamilton I appreciate it. The movement takes a lot of practice but I might do a video to show how it works but thanks for watching. Southridge really did a good job with their remodel just have to highlight it.
Marcus Corporation just opened new theater there on outskirts. Its one of those new Bistroplex which is dinner & movie theater. Its not been there for year. Seems like its helping keep this mall more alive now.
It’s still pretty lively. It’s a convenient location; easily accessible to most people in southwest wi. I’d say it’s definitely the best mall in the state, and much safer than it’s “counterpart,” Mayfair mall
Such a stark contrast between the two sisters one is thriving and the other is abandoned, its really quite sad to see Northridge getting so vandalized , I wish someone would step up and put that mall back on the map, Really liked your video and Subbd your channel also!!
I remember way back when McDonalds used to be on the second floor, next to the arcade. I think both of those spaces merged into what is now Buca di Beppo.
I think that's on the other side of the mall. The spot that used to be the arcade is still there, it was used for the Sphinx store not too long ago, before they moved into what used to be Waldenbooks and Brew City Gear. I would love to see the inside of the former McDonalds spot!
the former mcdonalds you both mentioned was next to the sphinx (old arcade) stores orignal location before they moved. I Have some pics of me exploring the former mcdonalds back in 2013. It is currently being used for storage but it is massive as you will see in the pics. i will leave a link shortly here.
Good question. The Northridge mall is slightly smaller. Just slightly though. There were only 3 dept store slots where Southridge had 4 big slots. Kohls was technically a slot but it was on a smaller footprint.
My direction is doing a series on healthy malls. I got several msgs on stealing Dan's ideas. There are others doing mall videos but what are your thoughts and what things would you change.
Well firstly, just becasue other people do "mall videos" doesn't mean its OK for you to steal titles. Secondly, I would spent some money on a decent mic. The video quality is fine, its just the audio.
The Shoe Dept store used to be Woolworths which I managed for seven years. One year there was a Disney Christmas theme, with active Disney displays throughout. There was also a Disney parade which attracted so many people that it was feared the upper level would collapse. Cars were lined up for miles and many people didn't make it in time for the parade because of the traffic jam. Good times.
Unfortunately this mall is lost its anchor stores. Sears closed of course but is turning into a Dicks Sporting Goods. Kohl’s Department Store moved out into a newly built store up the road. Just now Boston Store closed. Every mall is being affected by closing anchor stores.
It’s a great place to walk around in a full circle you’ll get your daily exercise if you go around once. It’s a couple of miles. I always enjoyed going around the upper floor the best. And it was a great place to meet girls and go to a movie and then browse the shops. And get a slice of pizza 🍕! All the major stores closed down. But I heard this mall was doing ok considering JC Penny is gone and Sears. But the Internet one click shopping appears to be killing the malls in general. This was a convenient place to hang out and shop. It was one stop shopping but I guess that concept is dead now. So go hang out with your smartphone on the street. Or stay inside all day. Even better. Stay alone with your phone. Be happy! 🤓😳😵🥺
+Rick Mileske not quite. It definitely is going to need some Redevelopment after Kohl's moves out but Sears will definitely get a new tenant in that location
wow, is impressive that this mall hasn´t a spanish name and isn´t dead, your videos havent the apocalyptic hysteria of the others,i want to believe that the american manufacture industry issues emptying the malls but in Wisconsin, with many issues like that i havent see that
Unusual for a mall to have carpeting. This is a Simon Mall just like my hometown mall Potomac Mills Mall in Woodbridge, VA. However, Potomac Mills is a one level mall with 200+ stores and is healthy. It opened in 1985 and is one of the most popular malls in Nothern VA. www.simon.com/mall/southridge-mall www.simon.com/mall/potomac-mills
Sounds like a very forward-looking mall management, thinking ahead with the outdoor shopping expansion even while it's having a very healthy occupancy. The thing about Simon Malls is they can get a bit boring with the signage and ads; it would look exactly the same here in California too. This is more of a conventional and predictable mall in my opinion, but that's all and well when so many malls are dying these days.
+Frank Yu yeah I hope it all works out. Yes I'm in malls or any other property company tends to add their own twist to all the malls they own. Appreciate you thinking my videos are more like Dan Bells but as soon as I got more creative with the videos I got into a trademark dispute with him. Hopefully we can resolve our differences because my videos were never ever meant to be like his at all because I want to be as unique as possible with everything that I did in my channel but somebody recommended I do more talking and may I add a little music so I added the RUclips channel music.
Oh no don't get me wrong; I think it's great to have more well-edited dead mall videos regardless of whether it's like Dan Bell or not. In fact I don't think I mentioned Dan Bell here... Anyway, did Dan actually try to claim stylistic/trademark with your videos? I wouldn't be too happy if he's being that territorial. After all, imitation is the highest form of flattery.
Frank Yu oh no I don't mean anything by it. It was this shocking to see how jerk of Dan Bell was when I had my stuff put up and it was sitting next to his stuff. I did change the title which was exactly his dead mall series. but you continued to say that my work is not unique and will never be like his. When you make videos don't let it bother you or anything just do what you do.
Rip northridge that is literally falling apart
I pretty much quit going there after World Market and the show shine guy on the first floor left. Glad to see it's still in business though. Lived close by there 2007-13
I always went to north ridge as a kid till it was closed
It seemed like a nice destination for a long time. It's a shame it fell apart.
It definitely doesn’t look “thriving” anymore
The "One Call That's All" guy is plastered on everything from Billboards to spines of telephone books.
Southridge was built B4 Northridge
Mom drop me off a TIME OUT Arcade. 90's kids ruled this mall. ;)
This was a really good video and very informative but the background music was way too loud
Well thing are changing now, with Sears closing, Kohls leaving, JC Penny's losing money and Macys closing stores time is short for this mall.
They added Round one
This is a simon mall. Which means this mall is pretty loaded with money. This mall will not be dead for a loooong time
now look at it! lol@@jacobfrech288
no twins anymore, Northridge...
when I’m at my dads we always pass this mall.
I can remember when the location for this was a farm field and some 40s and older houses and a small pond I think. Watched it get built, had my first get out of school early job there, my first fender bender in the parking lot, there used to be a head shop there in the mid 70s, plenty of friends had jobs there, met lots of girls there, ahhh, the memories
can you tell me when this mall opened for the first time?
@@luigidragonborn 1970 is when it opened
Sears just announced they are closing in September at this mall..
+William Haynes I heard about that too that's sad.
Hopefully something will take its place sometime after.
I think they are closing all of them all around the world idk tho
That was sad to see the demise of Sears a major blow to malls.
I literally went here yesterday 😊 this is my go to
+Aaron Spencer me too did you hear about the new plans for the Sears.
We have a Simon Mall in Boardman Ohio that is holding out. Great video!
Another great video. Thank u :)
+Techno Crat Thanks for checking it out. I have to give you big ups because the alive Mall series was your idea.
Marcus Corporation just opened new theater there on outskirts. Its one of those new Bistroplex which is dinner & movie theater. Its not been there for year. Seems like its helping keep this mall more alive now.
really like your positive NDM series....keep this thing going....
+soni collins thanks. I'm hoping it's going to be a major. Segment. I have six dead Mall videos and non demo videos in the works now.
It surprises me to still see Boston Store there. I do see this video is from 2017. It would be interesting to see a 2021 update to this video.
It’s still pretty lively. It’s a convenient location; easily accessible to most people in southwest wi. I’d say it’s definitely the best mall in the state, and much safer than it’s “counterpart,” Mayfair mall
I think is time to upscale the mall bringing more stores like Bloomingdales ,zara, nordstrom, sackfiftavevue.well are ideas
+Nicholas Todor wow didn't know there was an arcade that's pretty cool.
I think that's on the other side of the mall. The spot that used to be the arcade is still there, it was used for the Sphinx store not too long ago, before they moved into what used to be Waldenbooks and Brew City Gear. I would love to see the inside of the former McDonalds spot!

Excellent photos! That does bring back some memories.
What a difference compared to its twin mall north ridge mall, that’s smashed and abandoned
Good question. The Northridge mall is slightly smaller. Just slightly though. There were only 3 dept store slots where Southridge had 4 big slots. Kohls was technically a slot but it was on a smaller footprint.
Urbex- A Peak Inside have you done an exploration video about the north ridge mall?
Ohhhh, interesting please tell me more. I’m intrigued
I do have a video on the Northridge site but only on the outside part
I'm gonna do some more research but I'll tell you more.
Urbex- A Peak Inside en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northridge_Mall_(Milwaukee) this one is super cool. Very run down, but still super cool
THE OWNER OF MY STORE HUNG HIM SELF OFF THE RAILING IT WAS A SCENE THAT WAS IN 1989 IM SURPRISED ITS STILL OPEN !
Mr. Bass What store.
WHAT??!!!??
Very reminiscent of the Henderson, NV Galleria Mall.
Thunderwing Matrix Yes, thats what I was also thinking
Nice to see you take inspiration from better creators. Dead Mall Series is a really good name :)
+FU3LER realizing it was Dan Bells name I'm taking it off
Urbex- A Peak Inside are you going to change the names of all your videos and not just this one?
FU3LER I'm changing it to all my videos.
My direction is doing a series on healthy malls. I got several msgs on stealing Dan's ideas. There are others doing mall videos but what are your thoughts and what things would you change.

I love that malls store 🏬
This mall is going too. Just a matter of time.
A Non Dead Mall is called a Mall.
Nice to see a healthy mall presentation. Urbex- A Peak Inside, you are the opposite side of Dan Bell. He's the negative and you're the positive.
+junmenina lol Thanks for the kind words. Non dead mall blogs dont really exist. Hoping to change that.
Boston Store is gone, Sears is gone, JC Penney will be gone soon. The mall days are over in my opinion.
They just gotta innovative them
I’m glad Southridge is still up even though it would suck if it suffered the same fate at Northridge
Unfortunately this mall is lost its anchor stores. Sears closed of course but is turning into a Dicks Sporting Goods. Kohl’s Department Store moved out into a newly built store up the road. Just now Boston Store closed. Every mall is being affected by closing anchor stores.

Watch it close all in a couple of years
Anything can happen.
I just learned that the Sears Anchor shut down and it looks like Boston Store, their biggest anchor, will leave as well.
+Caleb Douglas so don't say that. That's a shame.
Urbex- A Peak Inside It’s a shame
This is were my last days with my dad
meanwhile northridge be like X_X
I know right.
Sadly since this video was first posted Southridge is now struggling!
+Rick Mileske not quite. It definitely is going to need some Redevelopment after Kohl's moves out but Sears will definitely get a new tenant in that location
Give it 10 years and you can stick a fork in this mall. Sad
+Indy Fan God I hope not.
Did a little acid in the day, can someone tell me if northridge mall Is still open? And is it still located in north cudahy?
Of course it's a Simon mall. Don't think they have any dead malls.
I bet if you have an egg roll Chinese fast food joint in there it will be the last one standing, especially if you got 3.99 Lunch specials.
wow, is impressive that this mall hasn´t a spanish name and isn´t dead, your videos havent the apocalyptic hysteria of the others,i want to believe that the american manufacture industry issues emptying the malls but in Wisconsin, with many issues like that i havent see that
lol payless on top of a finish line!
+Eric Eberle that's irony right there.

+Davin Peterson Thanks. Ill check it out.
This place is about to go the way of Northridge. RiP
Hopefully this mall stays thriving after it loses some of its anchor stores in the coming months.
+C.J. Robinson me too. I think the mall has a plan and they're aware of what's going to be happening in the next couple of months.
I see the train there
There's a train in that mall

he dead. Somebody said you're the Dan Bell of the Midwest. And he responded by saying no way he's a plagiarist and his videos will never be unique
+Urbex- A Peak Inside ,,,I ment Dan continued to say the work was not unique.
