The best scene according to me was the point when Light got his memories back. With his red eyes and evil smile he says "I've won"...
at that point i was like...go fuck urself light...ure bluffing

I also love how eric always smiles and chuckles whenever Light has that cocky evil grin

Is Light smiling only in his head? I feel like L would question his evil-looking grins.
I think so, just like the hair color thing
It's probably half-n-half - I highly doubt that Light would be able to never respond that way at all. Probably not in front of L though
he only does side grins where L and everyone else can’t see it
everytime their hair switch, is a metaphorically scene
or thinking on their own, or with the chess thing between L and Light and stuff
Its overdone in some cases, but he did laughed too early in the final episode, so yea, he probably can't control it very well he even said it in the last episode "I can't laugh yet huehuehueheue"
The point of swapping the notebook was to switch the Shinigami between Light and Misa. Light relinquishes ownership of his original Death Note. Ownership goes to Ryuk. Ryuk passes it to Rem. Rem flies off and gives it to Higuchi. Light wanted Rem to be with Higuchi because he knew that Rem cared about Misa and would play along with his plan(unlike Ryuk). Higuchi had to get Light’s Death Note because it was the only one with English rules and the fake ones. Rem's Death Note is passed to Ryuk, who drops it. Light is the first human to pick it up, so he owns it. This way he keeps the memories until he relinquishes ownership while in captivity. He buries this notebook for Misa to find later. That way she could make the eye deal again with Ryuk(Rem wouldn’t allow that to happen).
he had to give higuchi lights death note because it has the victims of the original kira in it, had they given him misas death note, L would have known that the real kira is still out there, they where supposed to think higuchi was kira all along.

11:14 ya know I’ve watched this anime and reactions to it probly a dozen times, and I’m just realizing that Light probly knew Misa wouldn’t remember L’s name, but would take the eye deal for it. He knew Misa couldn’t kill L, but he pushed into taking the eye deal again just so he could get rid of her faster
Yes that’s exactly why Ryuk was laughing
I think Missa would still outlast Light, I feel like she’s 250 years old after making the deals,
@@joey5745 Yeah I feel like a lotta people forget that the lifespan of the Shinigami who died protecting Misa transferred to her. If Shinigami gain the remaining lifespan of each human they kill, that had to be thousands of years
@@DragonTheseNuts it doesn't "have to be" thousands of years tho
Ryuk said they only write names so they don't die..
Shinigamis COULD ALSO chill after getting 2-3 people's lifespans
so they might also walk around w 20-50 years buffer
remember that they're immortal for the time being
but yeah, they COULD ALSO have 20000 years, improbable but who knows
Just imagine from L's perspective, as for what he's thinking in this episode: First, he had no idea who Kira was, so he worked as hard as he could to narrow it down to Light Yagami. He was completely sure that Light was, in fact, Kira, and his entire investigation hinged on Light being Kira. Right when he had Light where he wanted him, Light was no longer Kira, with no memories of the whole thing, as the power moved on to some other unknown person. Light is released to help with the investigation, and they track Higuchi down and have him cornered before he is killed on the spot out of nowhere. L may have begun to suspect Light again, but the fake rule immediately made him realize he was wrong all along and now he's right back where they started AGAIN. It's got to be super demotivating, losing all this progress constantly, and right when you're about to get the guy you know it is, something gets in the way.
I think L is just super dejected that this happened again, in this episode.
Nick Snyder I agree to a certain point.
You don't hear it too much in this reaction but the moment L touches the death note and confirms the existence of shinigamis, in his head he is already making connections to the 22nd in aoyama, "exchange outer notebooks" (when misa came in contact with light), all the shinigami hints etc.
He was already trying to piece together how everything that had happened so far tied to Light being his number 1 suspect.
Remember when Light first lost his memories and starting working with L (the cake and fight scene) L basically said straight up to Light, that up until that point Light had been Kira and Misa the second, but that the ability of persona of Kira had left light. (He wasn't sure what the case was at this point). He was adamant he couldnt be wrong about that. He was depressed or dejected at the thought that Kira's power might simply jump around to different people.
Again in later episodes he asks Light given his parameters, If light was Kira and his power left him, would that have been of his own will or something else's? Light says given his hypothesis it would have been his own.
The whole case thus far has been L just trying to prove without a doubt that light is Kira and this episode threw a spanner in the works, but he immediately starting to question the validity of the rules asking rem if all notebooks had these rules.
I agree this episode was a setback of sorts for L but I think he was so silent cause he was focusing on what his next step was and what he could to to confirm his belief the Light has always been Kira
i love how every after episode segment is half actual theory and ideas on show and then eventually they just spiral out and confuse each other until they are asking stuff like the significance of putting a strawberry in your pocket
They said the numbers above their head are in shinigami time. Not human time.

The Shinigami eye deal requires half the remaining lifespan of the person. For example, assuming Misa had 100 years left to live then the eye deal will make it 50 years left to live. The second time will make it 25 years left to live. Therefore you can make the deal as many times as you want. Even if you had 1 second to live the eye deal will make it 0.5 second left to live(which admittedly is useless but you get the point). So it's not Misa's total lifespan but remaining life span.
The end is NEAR

Today on Death Note: Keikaku.

Translator's note:
Light didn't switch notebooks. That's still his original notebook. Only his notebook has rules written in it, not Misa's. All Light did was swap shinigamis. So now Rem is attached to Light and Ryuk is attached to Misa. Mainly because Rem probably wouldn't make the eye deal again with Misa but Ryuk doesn't care so Light attached Ryuk to Misa's notebook, buried it, and had her touch it again to get her memories back.
The whole point of the eye deal is that it's stacked in favor of the Shinigami in the first place, so that they can always outlive a Death Note owner and then claim their Death Note once they've passed. It's basically a failsafe in case they lose their Death Note so they can always reclaim it.
How to solve the "shinigami numbers" problem:
1. Go to old folk's home or hospital for people in critical care.
2. Write down as many of their numbers as possible.
3. Wait 6 months.
4. Record all death dates.
5. Compare them to the shinigami numbers.
6. Find a conversion factor.
I saw someone say this and I agree, "This moment is not Light regaining his memories. It's the moment that Kira takes away Light's life"
They both are same person light is not innocent and far more smarter than anyone he is well aware of everything he is doing he is not a victim please
@@Azswiftie616 yeah idk if I agree with this anymore. In a sense I think it can mean that light fundamentally changed with the death note, so him regaining his memories also meant his new self took over. Idk
@@Stratilex definitely but I am talking about the fact that people victimized him like he is some kind of victim when he is not it's the same as calling a cheating men not guilty and blaming the woman because he said that she seduced him

I doubt Misa received hundreds of years from the shinigami that sacrificed itself for her. Remember Ryuk said the shinigami are lazy and only do the bare minimum of work needed to keep themselves alive. She could have received as little as 20.

I think L was so silent because he had to literally believe the impossible, meaning his sound, unbeatable logic (that was 100% correct without proof to him) had to be thrown out the window. In a sense, he lost, and he said himself he hates losing...but this is losing on a WHOLE different level. At this point, I think it's safe to say that he thinks nothing is certain anymore, and is desperately trying to put the pieces together. As you guys said, he also needs his belief in the supernatural to now be 100%, meaning every rule is law, and that clears Light & Misa.
I'm excited to hear what you guys think about this moving forward, as there's some seeeeeeeerious divide in the community coming up in 5 episodes or so, give or take.
L freaked out when he heard "Shinigami" because Shinigami means "Grim Reaper" in english.
Lana eh roughly lol isn't a more literal translation death god
same thing, no? Synonyms. "There are also death gods called shinigami (死神), which are closer to the Western tradition of the Grim Reaper"
I think L freaked out mainly due to the fact that he didn't believe in supernatural elements i.e. the Shinigami, in the first place and the whole concept of beings with powers such as killing people by writing their names in a notebook just shattered his view of the world that he lives in. He wasn't freaked because he saw the "Grim Reaper". He would've had the same reaction if he saw an Angel.( I say this because I get the impression that L is an atheist ).
Obviously thats what is being implied, initially hearing of some determined, "fictional" grim reaper becoming an option and being real would confuse anyone. I dont think L's religion matters in his reaction.
Lana He reacts that way because of the B.B case.
The shuffling of the Death Notes was a multilayered tactic. The first purpose it serves is to put Misa with Ryuk instead of Rem so that because of Ryuk's personality Misa can make the eye trade again, the second is to keep Rem near L, the third was so that it was the Death Note with all of the names of Kira's victims in it.
3:22 I hope they heard all the things L was thinking, they were kind of talking over it D:
HE STILL DOESN'T SAY SHINIGAMI RIGHT
Calvin comes up with so many different understandings of things which are based in some kind of intelligence but are usually wrong, this happens at least once a week on something he's reacting to, usually he's corrected right away but not this time. this time it ran amuck through everyone else 😂

This is probably my favorite episode of the series, personally. The return of Kira-Light, the revelation of Rem and the notebooks to the task force, the return of Ryuk and the unveiling of Light's full KEIKAKU, and that fucking final shot, with Ryuk looming over Light and Misa as they hug, oh it's just glorious. Just a non-stop high from beginning to end.
It's actually Momokuteki Nami, Buraindou is just the japanese pronunciation of the english word.
Misa was supposed to die that night. Her lifespan reached 0, she had no more seconds to live because that was her fate. It was Shinigami Jealous that transferred his lifespan to her by saving her life. You just have to accept that that fate exists in this world regarding death and a person with a deathnote can change that fate by ending a life sooner. A human can only end lives, a Shinigami can still end lives faster than fate and get the remainder of years of the person they wrote in the note. The only rule is that you can't save a life from fate.
Don't over think it from this point.
I know this is an old comment, but what you said doesn't make any sense. So let's say that it wasn't Jealous that saved Misa and was instead a human with a death note, or, no, it could still be Jealous that saved her, but let's say that he didn't love her. Misa was saved, but she was fated to die right then and there, so then what happens? Does she just drop dead anyways? Obviously not. Then what happens? Well, it's simple when you think about it.
She instantly gets a new fated time to die. It's literally what Rem said to Light when she said she'd kill L. She said that she doesn't like him, so even if killing L extends Light's life, it wouldn't kill her. It's the same thing with Misa. If the human, or Jealous who didn't love Misa saved her, her life would simply just increase and her fated death would change to another time. The human, or Jealous, wouldn't die because they saved her. The Shinigami ONLY dies if they love the human enough and they save them from dying. It's confusing, but that's how it works. The death note interferes with fate. Everyone has a predetermined life span, and that will remain their life span no matter what happens, UNLESS someone with a death note or someone with the shinigami eyes intervenes. Those are the only factors that change a predetermined life span. Well, and, of course, taking the shinigami eye deal.
Long story short, when Misa was saved by Jealous, she had a new life span PLUS Jealous' life span. So she probably had, I don't know, 60 more years plus the hundreds of years that Jelous had. Misa's life span is not JUST Jealous' life that he gave to her. I know I repeated myself a lot, but what I said makes a lot more sense than what you said, so, yeah.
@--InsertNameHere-- Hey, okay, so to answer your question: We know that when a Shinigami kills a human who isn't meant to die then, then their remaining lifespan is added to the Shinigami's. That is how they survive and gain time to not die out. This rule only applies to Shinigami. It doesn't apply to humans who use a death note, and neither does it apply to the Shinigami who originally owned that book while a human uses it. So where does that lifespan go? No one knows. One can only assume it goes to the Shinigami king and maybe as some kind of punishment for the user. (If you take into consideration the Director's cut anime ending episode, then maybe Light did become a Shinigami, and he has to spend that lifespan he took from others. But that is wishful thinking on my part).
We also know that Misa's lifespan after it was extended by Jealous's death got divided into half when accepted the Shinigami's eyes before she met Light , then she renounced the book and forgot the deal and lost the eyes, and then she regained her memories and forgot about L's real name and then she made the deal again with Ryuuk, meaning she sliced that remaining lifespan again. So if she had another 100 years from Jealous in the best case scenario, then she should have had less than 20 years left to live.
So when Misa started to kill again, the others knew that she was the only one who was free and she had led them to Light. So Misa was back on the target range by L.
So Rem was put in a situation to either kill L and Watano or whoever to extend her life or watch get be dragged back, locked away and maybe she kills herself because she said that she can't stand being apart from Light as we eventually see at the ending.
By saving Misa, Rem transfers her remaining lifespan to Misa and curses Light because she knows that Misa's fate depends on Light and that he could make her happy or ruin her life.
So basically: the rules for the Death Note are not the same for humans or Shinigami. You can't kill a Shinigami with the notebook. Humans can choose to do what they want with the notebook: even write their own name in it. But we see that the notebook is somehow tied to the minds of the user: Light needs to visualize the victim's face while writing their real name, and both of those details have to be true to work. So it's probably the same for a Shinigami: it can read intentions of the Shinigami. Either that or the Shinigami need to not think about what a death can mean for anyone else. The bottom line is: shinigami are meant to kill indiscriminately, not save with emotion.
In my opinion, if the Director's cut is to be believed, then maybe this is the test that Shinigami has to pay to pass in the afterlife: learn to love and give their life for someone else. The notebook is a weapon for the selfish and the vain.
If there is an afterlife then the Shinigami don't know about it. Just like humans didn't know about the Shinigami.
@@julianmarco4185
Ok? I don't really see how this is relevant to my comment, but sure, let's go with that.
The reason for killing someone its important.
Case 1: If a shinigami kills a serial killer who was gonna murder "X" person in 2 days; the shinigami would gain the life spam of the serial killer and INDIRECTLY save X's life (in those cases, which are the most common ones, the life spam of X gets longer automatically but the shinigami doesn't die because it wasn't its intention; Rem herself said that she wouldn't mind killing L at the beginning because she didn't loved Light so she wouldn't die by saving his life indirectly; Rem killing L at that time would be considered a normal kill. If Rem killed L when he arrested Misa that would be different because of Rem's reasoning to kill would be to save someone she loves).
Case 2: if the shinigami would kill the serial killer for love to X; the first difference would be that the shinigami would die because his reason to kill wasn't to extend its own life but for someone else sake. The second difference would be that X's life spam would get longer like in the first case but on this one the life spam, instead of being random of whatever reasoning for lifespams are, would be exactly the same as the shinigami's life spam.
If i got something wrong someone correct me
It’s life SPAN not life SPAM.

"Light was making sure if his memories would be lost by passing the notebook around, but he found out it didn't. He needed to do something by testing it. By passing the notebook around, the owner of the notebook shifts. If Light says that he's giving the notebook to another, the owner is switched to the other person that Light gave it to, but his memories are in tact.
The rule in the Death Note: if the user is willing to give up the notebook, s/he shall lose their memories along with it.
This rule means that the person has to give up the whole Death Note (memories and ownership)
Light didn't really give up the notebook. He just passed it on.
When Light lost his memories, he gave a hint to Ryuk about it, and Ryuk left to do his duty."

"The flashback is when the shuffling of the notebooks takes place, so the Death Note that Rem takes off with is Light's original one. The reason why Ryuk and Rem swap notebook is because it was necessary to make Ryuk the Shinigami possessing Misa. If it stayed Rem,she most likely wouldn't let Misa trade for the Shinigami Eyes again.
In order to switch Shinigami, the notebooks is shuffled around. The aim is to have Misa's memory relating to Ryuzaki (L) return so she can kill him."

"Only Light's Death Note had the rules written in English/Japanese and he added the fake rules in the back about needing to write a name very 13 days and if you destroy the Death note all those who touched it will die.
The Fake Death Note Rules are two rules that Light Yagami persuades the Shinigami Ryuk to write into the Death Note as part of a plan to clear him of suspicion.
1.If the user of the Death Note fails to consecutively write names within 13 days of each other, then the user will die.
2.If a person makes this notebook unusable by tearing it up or burning it, all the humans who have touched the Death Note will die.
(Source: Fake Death Note Rules)
Ownership of this Death Note had to go to one of the Shinigami to then go to one of the Yotsuba Group (or any big company) and trusting L's detective work he would find the new Kira and recover the Death Note.
To do this Light had to have a second Death Note on him as he gives up ownership of his in order to retain his memories and claim ownership of the new Death Note when it's ownership is given up by one of the Shinigami. his new one he can give up ownership when he wanted to "get rid of this pride" while in imprisoned (ie. get rid of ownership and erasing his memories)."

I have waited for this episode for so long, this is my favourite episode.
You know what just crossed my mind? After Higuchi's death, they read in the notebook that it takes 40 seconds to kill somebody. So, if they count back from Higuchi's death, who was the one holding a notebook at that exact time? Light!
worldinperson good catch, but L was sitting right next to light and would’ve seen him write something down. Good thing he still had his watch
The notebook also allows you to freely chose time of death. Plus Light didn't write the name into the notebook itself
i’ve been waiting for them to react to his episode. the best one in my opinion
The Shinigami will die if he/she extends the life of a human being regardless of how he/she feels. "Love" is basically a contributing factor. This is because it opposes the reason for which the Shinigami exist which is to kill humans and take their remaining lifespan.
Wrong, remember they discussed this before, if a shinigami kills someone just to kill them and that person was destined to either kill or get someone else killed then technically the shinigami would be extending that future victims life span in the process. In other words it's not about whether or not they cause someone to live longer, but whether or not they kill someone with the direct intention of extending someone's life. Now that doesn't necessarily mean they have to love that person, they could just be buddies, but more often than not a shinigami isn't going to take action like that unless they feel something like love, especially if they know that they'll die for doing it.
My favorite episode. I've been waiting since their first reaction to DN. Oh, man was this satisfying.
Lets say misa had a lifespan of 100 and when a shinigami died for her, it doubled so its 200 now. when she made a eye deal with rem she got back to her original lifespan of 100. Now she did 2nd time with ryuk so she has 50 now.
Regarding the numbers displaying on people's head, its the numeber shinigami days that a person can live. Example humans have 365 days (1 year). In one year you age to +1. I think a shinigami year equals 3500-3600 days. Now you can convert that number to human time to see their ages ;) . I didn't do it because im lazy lol. Gl for those who want to try.
Kira is back baby!
This is a goat episode
One thing that is very important to note is that Light had Ryuk add the 13 day rule, and Kira only began killing 14 days after Light’s imprisonment. It is horribly convenient for Light, which is why L likely didn’t buy that particular rule of the notebook.
When Light got the notebook back it turned into the ultimate judgement of one’s self and one’s convictions...

This whole arc reminded me of diavolo and how he hides his identity by literally being someone else. Evil light just left his body for a while to completely drive away any auspicios towards him, this also showed us how people can be completely different persons depending on the events of their lives, Light thought just the way maraud a thought about their whole Kira thing and if it’s right or not, but it was the moment when this power came to him that he was corrupted and driven evil
Is he still on that loop?
This is always my favorite episode by the way they animated it
Actually there were 2 cops that left and came back for that roadblock. The guy in the car beside Afro Man was the guy who quit the task force right before they met L the first time
last episode next week get hyped
Light have his notebook to Ryuk and asked him to give the notebook to Rem. That is why Rem is attached to Light’s notebook.
In case anyone wonders, Misa has a lot of years left. Remember that Gelus used his notebook to save her, all his years went to her, so it doesn't matter that she made the eye deal twice.
In the explanation of how a shinigami dies, I remember it being said that the human who's life was saved gets the rest of the shinigami's years. As such I find it probable that Misa Misa had at least one extra lifetime of years. If so, them she has now gone from having at least 2 lifetimes to having 1/2. Effectively, she's made the deal once.
He's back!!! lol that damn music
I think the Book made Light how he was , he’s an honest good guy before the death note and he’s exactly that when he loses his memory of the book , but when he gets the book he becomes evil again
Even if light ripped all the pages out of both notebooks of all the names that him and Misa wrote he couldn't guarantee that Ryuk would lie for him even if he offered apples but he could guarantee that rim wood to help Misa that's probably why he switched the note books.
Can't wait till next episode ;)

So, regarding the lifespan, apparently it's not in seconds or any reasonable time unit for that matter (maybe some Shinigami unit of time, or just random numbers lol)
Mats Martensson I highly doubt that the author had some convoluted plan about those numbers, cause the numbers themselves did not matter. But apparently there were some madmen who figured out a formula for those numbers (don't know it though)
I can’t wait for them to get to episode 26 and meet L’s left and right nuts
We're so close
Everytime Eric pronounces Higuchi as "Hikoji," I immediately think of Koogi from Ohba and Obata's other series, Bakuman. Is it just me?
After the next episode, there's Death Note Rewrite #1, which recaps the first season, BUT there is an interesting scene at the end depicting the aftermath, exclusive to this special. I'd recommend slipping that one scene in at the end of next episode
I'm kind of curious about how they wrote the names. Hikuji? Rikugi?
If someone makes an eye deal, half of there remaining lifespan is taken. So, you can never die instantly by taking an eye deal, even if you have 1 day to live. Misa probably gained 60 years or more , so her current life remaining is probably something like around 30 left
"It's been in his shoulder feathers!"
Oooooo sooo closeee!!! almost 25
Finally the king is back
I’m pretty sure the creator of the manga said the lifespan number was a very complicated equation that he didn’t even remember how to solve him self
"There was this Goosebumps book, I don't remember the title, but there was this person who could granted wishes, but you had to be really careful with it." You're gonna feel real silly when you remember the title.
Her life was extended by her Original Shinigami so even if she halved it twice she will still live long for a human
The only way light would have to prove the 13 day rule is by waiting and killing the old user after the 13th day. Instead of right away
Most ATMs I've used only let you withdraw in multiples of 20.
Omg it's the next episodeeeeeee 😭😭😭
Finally those episodes are done
You can break Calvin’s infinite debit card hypothetical pretty easily, especially the $15 one. If you withdraw cash with your infinite card and open a regular account you can just deposit the money. That way you end up with infinite money and no payment limits.
I know it's in the next episode or this but: "This is the longest 40 seconds of my life."
So, I'm sure they get this by now, but I just want to say that shinigami die when they *intentionally* extend someone's life.
If someone gains life unintentionally as a byproduct of a shinigami killing someone, it's fine, but if the shinigami kills someone *in order* to extend someone's life, that's when it becomes a problem.
This is because, as shinigami (death gods), their entire purpose is to take life, not give.
12:15 He's doing his whole Teen Wolf look here and it's making *my* face itch...
The seies finale next week will be great!
why don't L check Light handwriting with the notebook they had?
In the intro I hear “wonderful”
what is this version of the anime ? It seems to look WAY better than what I remember
