Awesome video and Steve looked dead on that flight out of Stanstead but one thing I will always respect about him is no matter how tired he is he is always polite to the staff.
I have an idea for your videos Steve ….DON’T CHANGE A BLOODY THING!!!! Best thing on the internet for me right now. Whenever I watch this channel it takes me straight to my happy place! before I’d realised it I’d been watching it today for about 3hours!!! My favourites are the colder places but they are all fantastic mate! Please don’t stop anytime soon. Just wish I had the courage to go do what you do. Take care and be safe. …. And to echo some of the comments below also, I’m a proud Englishman and whenever I have been in a different land I have ALWAYS been polite and respectful when in other peoples countries! This is a must as you are an ambassador for the UK when abroad. You sir are a credit to the UK and an even bigger credit to Scotland
As a just 9 year old kid my parents put me on a train in southern Ohio and sent me to Northern Wisconsin. The trip included changing trains and train stations in Chicago. There was a 6 hour wait over night at Chicago. I was the only person in the station. A janitor asked me why I was there. He asked if I had any food that day and I said no. He went into a closed restaurant, turned on the equipment and made me a burger, fries and a coke. Then he got pillows and a blanket and made me a bed on the wooden bench. He told me that he would wake me up for the train to Grandmas. He put me on the train and several hours later I was in Rhinelander. I walked to grandmas house and had a delicious turkey sandwich on fresh baked bread. The best ever. Miss you grams. ❤️
Yes Americans we know where Wisconsin and Ohio are, but why don’t you ever write the USA like the rest of the world does when explaining your locality/country? Every single one of you do this. My theory is the country is so big, not many with passports (only 40%) and not many internationally well travelled Americans so you don’t know much outside your own borders hence you only mention the state assuming the entire WORLD knows your states…I wonder do you know all of Australias states or Canadas provinces..? It’s fascinating.
@ it’s an interesting story of my youth. I thought I’d share it. I’m sorry that you created something there to be offended about. But in reality my only interaction with Australia has been to thank your fighters for their coordinated invasion of Southern New Guinea along with parts of the US Air force under a General Kennedy and a naval force headed by General MacArthur. If it was not for their participation we might have lost the battle for control of Lae where my dad was trying to make runways for B-24 bombers out of sand and seaweed.
What an amazing story, a different world is right, got to spend a summer in Chicago in 2004 and we used a Greyhound to Memphis , on the way back a girl only about 12 got off the bus in the middle of the night at the terminus in Downtown Chicago with us and went about her way in the dead of the night, I could not believe it and was shocked, we were about 21 and there 3 of us, hello from Dublin @larrysorenson4789
I am Icelandic, and have to say having seen your other amazing videos, you are a legend. Had I known you were in Reykjavík I would taken you round the place 😊 hope you caught up on that sleep. Sjáumst síðar
All this stress, tiredness, planning, thinking and spending and all this travelling just so we can have a relaxing experience watching you putting up with, what must seem like hell sometimes for you, thanks steve much appreciated. 😊
That was a great video. I’ve really enjoyed watching you on this journey. Thanks for taking the pain. I would have gone to the airport as well. At least you’re there and it’s one less thing to go wrong.
Oh Steve, how you suffer for our enjoyment, it is so appreciated. You looked sooooooo tired and I bet you slept for hours/days after you finally got home.
Happiness is sitting down with a coffee on a day off and seeing a wee midweek bonus video popping up from Steve. Especially when it’s of Iceland! 🇮🇸 my last visit was pre pandemic with my family and we stayed in an apartment near the Hallgrimskirkja. Watching you trying to keep awake at Keflavik reminded me of the time I had a layover there on the way back from Edmonton and dozed off in the departure lounge. I was so embarrassed when my name was called out on the tannoy and I nearly missed my flight back to Manchester.
I flew on 2 Icelandair flights last year. ABSOLUTELY the smoothest landings I have ever experienced in 60+ years of travelling. The staff were amazing. Would definitely fly with them again.
You are really the only genuine, & honest travel channel that shows, &. says like it is - no nonsense & unnecessary music that typically adds cheapness to these videos. Keep doing what you are doing.
Greetings from Australia. Love your vids mate. They make me happy. Been to Scotland many times. Gods country. And….i have 70% Scottish dna…. I love the way you show us just how great travel can be done on a modest budget. You make these wonderful places accessible for us. Keep it up.
Absolutely epic my friend. I really hope you give your body a chance to recover or it will make you pay. Please rest as we need your content. Love From Australia.
This trip was an epic. Steve deserves a medal for the hanging around and sleep deprivation on that one. And I guess all the pizzas balance out against the steps he’s doing. That deserted airport in Iceland , the laps in the small hours around the main airport .. compulsive viewing this !
Thank you so much for showing every aspect of this epic journey. You have convinced me that me deciding not to do it is the best decision. Your absolute tenacity to just keep on going, is amazing and I just love watching your videos.
As someone who didn't have to go through any of the tough parts, but got to see all the amazing stuff vicariously through your brilliant vlogging, I have to say this trip was extremely worthwhile 🤣. Many thanks for taking us with you! 💯
The floodlit/ light detailed Hallgrímskirja is such a magnificent sight. 🤩 One of the most beautiful cathedrals in the world. Your Northern Lights photos were very impressive as well Steve.
I believe the road from Seydisfjordur to Egilsstadir is paved now so much less bumpy than when I worked in the region in the 1990s when it was basically a dirt track covered by ice a lot of the time. I remember arriving at Egilsstadir airport one evening to find that the road to Seydisfjordur was closed, blocked by snow. The bus took us up the road until it got stuck in the snow. Then we waited for a snowcat vehicle driven by the local mountain rescue team to arrive which took us over the summit through the snow drifts and down to the village. Quite an adventure!
The things you do for us ! Excellent video Steve, I can imagine you getting home making a cup of tea, sitting down in the warm and thinking, I`m never doing that again...for all of 10 minutes !
The Charlotte airport in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA has rocking chairs. It is great to watch planes go by while rocking and relaxing. Another great video, Steve.
Your logic regarding whether a hotel is needed or not, with an early morning flight, is same as mine; put up with the inconvenience if you’re saving money. 😊
@@ZengoMay I would rather spend the money on a hotel than end up feeling and looking like a zombie. Fine when you’re in your twenties and thirties - you soon bounce back. Once you’re into your forties and beyond, you lack the same resilience . It gets monotonous to watch as well.
Love watching a Scotsman suffering long and tedious journeys, I have done many of them in my time and share your agony when I watch your channel (yes I'm Scottish too). Another great video, thanks Steve! 😃
That was rough trip. But it beats being stuck in a Lithuanian forest in the middle of the night. ;). I’ll never forget that one! Steve, you’re always such a comfort and escape. Even just the sound of your voice. Much appreciated. And now my epic poem: pizza, pizza, everywhere. And not a drop to drink. ;)
oh, I will be there in January and I was thinking about walking and recording the entire way during daylight just to record what it would be if there wasn't a guy with a car stopping there ....
Personally, if there's nothing to do in the city at night, I'd head for the airport and waste time there. At least the uncertainty of the airport bus is no longer on my mind. I'm really enjoying this series of videos.
Quite amazing Steve. I don't know how you do it. Such long hours and so much walking. I'm tired just watching it. But I do enjoy every minute. Can't wait for the next one! Thank you!!
Steve, I really felt for you. Exactly like me, I can't stand waiting around. That wait at Keflavik Airport would have done me in. Continue making your videos real, warts and all. Far better than any glossy travelogue.
Hats off to you Steve and may be I would have in my younger years but I couldn't have waited round in that airport in the cold and small hours for all that time. That and your tight connection from Stansted to Edinburgh looked brutal. 👏👏
I didn't think you were going to be stranded in Iceland because you always seem to come through, and I think being stranded there wouldn't be so bad, what a beautiful country! The only time I was a bit stressed was when you got off the train in Poland at the wrong station and it was in the middle of the night - you really did look worried that time! ( I think it was Poland).
Steve, you look absolutely shattered on that flight to London. Nice shots of the Northern Lights, though. I’m glad that there’s one more video in this series. You’re a legend. Cheers, and ATB!
Hi Steve, such an amazing journey you took us on in this video. How many times must viewers have said ‘rather you than me’ for enduring such difficult conditions and waiting around. I hope the nap at the end refreshed you and you got back home safe and sound. Many thanks.
Another fantastic video.. It keeps you glued to the screen from start to finish .How you do it is a mystery but in the end it all gets done . Thank you.
Hello, just discovered your channel. Love it. The ferry to Iceland, just stunning, thank you for exhaustion! Then I just got too old for it. Nowadays Im ok with a Limoges to Manchester Ryanair thank you very much..
Haha, yes, it is incredible how quick you get to places when you’re not in a hurry. I don’t like being late and end up awkwardly loitering in an area or taking weird routes as I get nearer to the destination.
I was going to say how much I would've disliked all the waiting around but seeing the northern lights would have made up for that. Great video as always 👍
Hands up who loves steve 🙌🙌

if all airports were that quiet, everyone would want to fly
...and then they would be quite crowded, so no-one would want to fly, and they'd be...
But the problem is everyone DOES want to fly and they DO. A lot!!

I loved this video and indeed this mini series. Iceland always feels magical to me, it's so very special.
Just about my favourite place. I tell my friends to stop for a few days in Reykjavik on their way home when they visit Europe.
The airport in Charlotte, NC has a lot of rocking chairs.
It's the only airport where I have seen rocking chairs. A sweet surprise.
Boston's Logan also has rocking chairs.
The Charlotte airport in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA has rocking chairs. It is great to watch planes go by while rocking and relaxing.
