    Very nicely filmed, and you made me want to take a day trip to Jukkasjärvi. It's been a couple of years since last time. I live in Kiruna, but I'm always impressed by the Ice hotel. When you go back to visit it another winter it can look totally different. It feels like exploring an ice world in a video game. This week it's been warmer, +1 to -3 degrees Celsius. In just three months (almost) all snow will be gone, and we'll have daylight at night, and you might get a sunburn instead of freezing. 😎 The Torne river has very clean water so the ice is very clear, and the town takes the drinking water from it.

    Oh, my friend, I live in Los Angeles. My family is Scotch/Irish. In the last two years, Ive traveled to Istanbul, St Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don, Moscow, Amsterdam, Paris & London. Now, I only want to visit Scotland. Cheers & love your channel. Isn't it amazing how an authentic, artistic, ferry loving traveler can connect with so many people around the world? Well done, young man! Your hard work is our pleasure. Thank you!

    As I thought of questions, you answered them. Very nice timing. I can't imagine building this every year and the amount of work. The rooms were very varied and some were spooky. Thank you very much for taking us along and enduring the cold.

    I read a bunch of reviews of this hotel after the previous video from this trip, and there were quite a lot of bad reviews, about the lack of luxury compared to the prices. Now I'm fairly sure the people complaining didn't do their research, somehow probably expected fully furnished rooms with carpets etc in an ICE hotel. This was beautiful to see

    • @steve-marsh
      @steve-marsh  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, it is totally about having a one-off experience, so I think it's worth the price (I just couldn't afford it) and the staff were all absolutely lovely

    • @geniusgeezer1234
      @geniusgeezer1234 9 месяцев назад

      @@steve-marshTo be fair, some of the prices I saw online on their own site were pretty ridiculous, even if you factor in the cost of building and maintaining all those rooms.
      But I suppose it's like a bucket list thing for some people, something you'll only experience once in lifetime. I also saw some people complain about the staff, but that's obviously very subjective and I know not everyone is respectful towards service workers (not just hotels and bars, but in general). So I could imagine staff sturdily sticking to the rules once a guest starts being disrespectful

      @@geniusgeezer1234The artists and designers from all around the world aren't cheap, and there are new designs and artwork each year. A lot of work is done in summer while there aren't as many tourists, lots of planning, and the company needs its profit to continue. And also the hotel must feel "special" and "exclusive", so there's that too. The Ice hotel has a rating of 4,5 out of 5 on Tripadvisor (2364 reviews in total), 1521 five star reviews and 51 one star, so that's not bad at all compared to many other places.
