    Had a silver 2008 caliber srt4 back in 2018. Sold it this year. Missed it so much. Found a rare 2009 deep water blue stock untouched 3 months later. Took it to Laguna Seca for a track day and it rips. Held its own with other modern hot hatches easily. Ahead of its time.

    I’ve had one since 2016 sitting at 400k+ kms no major issue’s whatsoever regular maintenance and not being an idiot take you far with any car, I’ve got a bunch of mods on it too, making 380ish hp and I beat on it all the time.
    The interior is complete crap, it doesn’t break easily like other cars but it will squeak and creak.
    For the suspension, the ball joints on the control arms are complete crap, make sure when you need to replace them, you do so with MOOG problem solver control arms. The suspension has the same weldment as the Evo X, you could also use the forged aluminum control arms from that as well.
    The Motor is very similar to the Evo X, The block is almost identical the caliber is just bored out more it’s just like the 4b12, shares the same turbo as the the 4b11T from the Evo as well.
    The transmission, I haven’t had any problems with the transmission at all, do your fluids when you need to and your good. It is a bit restrictive in the first few gears since the car has so much torque. 4th -6th gear is where this car shines
    The aftermarket, with how rare this car is, there is a decent amount of aftermarket options. Some items can be hard to find but just ask around online and you’ll find it.
    I highly recommend this car if you are looking for good performance for cheap. I’ve been daily driving this car for 6 years and I drive a lot everyday.
    Good bang for your buck!

    Great review! Always wanted one, as a teen. They were different in a good way. Just bought a lightly banged up/rusted red 09 for $2800 CAD. Felt like I won the lottery... The engine and trans is still as superb as this example, albeit 180k+ miles on the clock. It came with a Mopar stage 1 tune, amps it up to 320hp. No one has dared to challenge it yet.
    After I refresh the body/suspension/brakes/exhaust, then get safety certified, this baby will be my new daily.

    • @srirachasauce8430
      @srirachasauce8430 11 месяцев назад

      @@RockyFoxxowo Hell naw! And thank goodness, too lol. It comes with a 6 speed manual. A CVT wouldn't last long with my size 14 boat anchor on that throttle. Itd be a grenade in no time! The manual is a primary reason why I chose the srt4 to be my new daily.
      The car is relatively tall, good power, giant ass brakes, manual, decent cargo room, nice on fuel, different from the norm, and it does have competent handling... for a wrong wheel drive car. I'm straight up cheddar cheezin over here.

      @@nonog294 Go to Hagerty's evaluation tool. My MR2 is a #2 car. Do your homework. I've had it evaluated,,so maybe not 5 times but definitely 3+ the value of the SRT. SRT Calibers are going for around 10-11k. Hagerty doesn't even have it in their evaluation tool! Say's a lot. Like I said,, I love the SRT but it's not worth much unfortunately. A shame really,,,

    I have an 08 Caliber SE, and while it isnt as fast as the SRT4 I've been slowly modifying it to become just as fast if not just a tiny bit slower than a SRT4. Problem is, SRT4 Calibers are so hard to find in my area, closest one was like 300 miles away from me, and I dont want to put 300 miles on a great engine like that that quickly. Currently have a cool air intake, and a modified exhaust and I'll soon be getting a stage 1 tune, then I'll focus on getting new performance camshafts, a turbo that works with 1.8L cars, and a stage 2 clutch.
    People say that it will be hard for me to do all this, much less make it as fast as an SRT4 model, but I'm determined to prove them wrong (and have a lot of fun modding my car in the process)

    I really like and want one but the problem is the kinda of people that bought them were either A. The soccer mom who was shoehorned into it by a sleezy salesman and did zero maintenance or B. The kid who wanted a Charger but was approved to this and thought "boost it to the moon" so the vast majority of them are in scrap yards or people's garages in a million pieces because the engine blew up.
